How cheerfully he seems to grin, how neatly he spreads his claws!
Slowly the wind slid across the world. Tussling the soft green leaves that decorated the trees spread across Wonderland. Long blades of grass twitched in the summer wind. Bending back only to flow forward when the wind switched it's direction. The oddly coloured flowers seemed to be immobilized. Never moving, or joining in the game the wind seemed to offer.
This angered the wind, who wasn't use to having things defy him so. Suddenly, a rush of air came full force at the poor field. The innocent grass blades began to fidget, they wondered what to do. As confused as these poor things were, they joined in the symphony the wind conducted. They fluxed in unison, creating a pattern that duplicated the waves of the sea.
The poor leaves that dappled the trees fidgeted worse. Small tremors started at the base of the leaves, working their way up the leaves small frame. Some unlucky leaves were so unfortunate they were separated from their safety base and forced to float the ground. Their cries unheard by all.
This was all the try and appease the wind. Which was growing angrier by the second. The flowers stood unaffected. Standing as though nothing was going on. Not a petal twitched on their bodies. Not a leaf moved with the wind. None of the flowers joined in the concert of the wind.
Nervousness flowed through the blades of grass that stood beside the opposing flowers. Some blades softly touched the flowers, trying to edge them into the dance. Not a one listened.
Soon the wind grew in force. Attacking the leaves that were still fortunate to hang on the trees. Flattening the obedient blades of grass. Their soft cries were ignored. The wind had a goal, and nothing would stand his way; it whistled and roared at it tried to move the flowers, who stood lifeless still.
This all amused a young girl that stood on the edge of the field. A low giggle was emitted from her soft pink lips. She stood among the dead souls of the leaves that had met their pitiful death. The fallen grass stood in front of her. Their cries silence by their destroyer.
Slowly she knelt by the departed souls, her hands that bore fingerless gloves grazed over them. They rustled only because of her touch that almost brought new life to them. A small smile reacher her lips and she said faintly, "Poor things. Life's cut short all because of some silly flowers."
The child lifted her head to gaze at the still standing flowers. A grin crossed her face. They were her creation. Rock flowers. The petals that adorned the stem would never move. A pulse would never cross through their bodies. They were already dead. Motionless they would stand. Oblivious to the wrath of the wind, though the wind was not oblivious to them. The harder it tried, the more exhausted it became. Suddenly, reality reached it's mind and it realized what it had down. A soft cry was all it emitted. The winds died down to a soft murmur that tried to awaken the departed souls of the plants that spread over the field.
The girl pushed her self off the cool ground, and cocked her head to the side, a mischievous smile was all her face held, "Try as you might, dear wind, it will do no good. You and your temper, you must learn to control it before you hurt even more."
Another cry came before the winds dissipated. The young child that had stood watch while the wind committed murder just swiveled around and skipped off in the opposite direction of the dead field.
Whilst she skipped below the dark brown branches of the trees overhead she heard a voice break through the walls of her world. Her legs stopped the skip and her eyes glanced up towards the sky. She caught a glimpse of her dear friend Cheshire. An innocent smile flittered to her lips.
"Pardon me?" She questioned with a tilt of her head.
He scoffed, swinging his legs over the branch he let them dangle. Purple ears hung at the side of his head, and black hair tickled his cheek and ears. He placed his chin on his hand that connected to a cloth covered arm. Cheshire wore a full body suit that bore dark and light purple stripes. He also wore fingerless gloves bearing the same style as his clothing. He wore no shoes, instead a little piece of fabric was buttoned over the bottom of his foot. His tail flickered back and forth.
"What did you do?"
I clasped my hands behind my back and rocked forward on the balls of my feet, "I don't have a clue on what your talking about,"
"I do believe you do."
"It obvious I don't if I'm asking you," I replied cheekily.
Cheshire sighed and placed both hands steadily behind him. Lifting his golden eyes to meets her he grinned that cheshire grin. It reached from ear to ear and often decorated his face. It was a confusing grin, that puzzled many. The words that come out of that grin were usually riddles, off to confuse an unsuspecting victim.
This amused her. She found it more then entertaining to watch other person's sanity slow fade away. Like everyone in Wonderland, she also enjoyed games. Though, hers were a tad but more twisted. You had just watched her kill thousands of innocent victims. Now, it wasn't exactly her fault. But, the wind was the gun and she the trigger.
"Did you know," the Cheshire's smooth voice cut through her thoughts once again, "were having a new toy to play with soon?"
A loud clapping sound was hear, it came from the young girl named Caterpillar, she was more than excited. She was ecstatic.
"Really? Oh joy! We haven't had a toy since dear old Alice came to play."
Ahh, Alice... The poor girl had followed White Rabbit down the hole and ended up here. She met more that enough people to question her sanity, but the young girl still held on to the shred she had left. It was the White Rabbit that sent her over the edge. Letting her crash into oblivion. We had all taunted her, but when the one she trusted most (The White Rabbit) betrayed her... Well, you can imagine the end of dear ol' Alice.
"I know, I wonder how long this one will last...."
And welcomes the little fishes in, with gently smiling jaws!
