Title: And so it ends....
Demon_Eyes - July 15, 2008 01:55 AM (GMT)
After twelve years running, and a total of 51 volumes, the great manga sensation InuYasha is finally over.....
And I still can't get over it.
To those that don't know: yes, on June 18, 2008, the series officially had its final chapter, and what an amazing final installment.
Truthfully, I'm totally thrilled with how the series ended, it was perfect. I don't think any other way would have worked. Except for: Goddammit, so crossed my fingers that InuYasha and Kagome would kiss when she got out of the well... <--Highlight if your not afraid of spoilers.
*sigh* But alls well that ends well.
But, if you trully want to know, I'm in a state of denial that the series is over until I get my hands on the final manga. Until then, it will live forever!!!! Bwahahahaha.....
I need a life.
Anyways....whats your take? I know there are plenty of people left feeling unsatisfied and with questiongs. (What the hell happened to Kouga?)
Yeah....
Don't you love happy endings? I do.
+Daymare+ - July 15, 2008 02:14 AM (GMT)
You know to a degree I had given up on InuYasha.
Some of the volumes were a drag to get thorugh.
But the final one - I got it a couple of weeks ago, and was abit upset at its ending.
But - Ce la vi! It all must come to an end.
Really - now. What did happen to Kouga?
I quite fancied him.
ichinichi - July 15, 2008 03:15 AM (GMT)
To be honest, I thought the ending was a bit of a drag. She could of used that ending ages ago, regardless if all the shards were collected or not. The only good part was with Sesshoumaru's reaction to Kagome's "cheery" words.
Other than that, I found it to be boring. I only have a few favourite volumes now, and a favourite chapter, too. I'd hate to see how VIZ hacks the series down, let alone screw up the text -- I found several WTFery mistakes in the early volumes, such as Shippou calling Kouga "Kiga" [Due to VIZ translating Kouga as "Koga"]. They cut the series of Ranma 1/2 by two volumes.
It'd be amazing to see what Takahashi-san will come up with next, without the use of too many volumes and a plot-that-seriously-lacked. 'Course, she mainly does folklore of Japan, so I am quite happy.
OH AND CORRECTION: 56 Volumes. Info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inuyasha
Naraku. - July 15, 2008 02:13 PM (GMT)
It was exciting before the ending but the ending was too vague and a letdown like Harry Potter's epilogue.

I know, I have one vol where it says:
INU.YASHA
It has a period in the middle of his name O_o and he said he wanted to become a real ghost. o____o;;; I was like...
"wha...?"
The manga ending sucked. Lots of people said it would've been too cliche to end it that way but damnit, c'mon!
Sesshoumaru was only a cameo appreance, nothing more, nothing less. >___>

I have one volume where there's a random, small lettered v in InuYasha's name where Kagome screams it.
"INUYAvSHA!" or something. I was like: ...... WHAT. When I read it.
Michiru-san - July 15, 2008 11:49 PM (GMT)
xDD I remember you telling me that.
XD
:chidorisd: God, they need to check that stuff before putting it out.
<< manga isn't cheap man.
Demon_Eyes - July 15, 2008 11:50 PM (GMT)
I found something rather funny too. You know how in the Viz mangas they give a short character description with the picture of the character next to it? Well one of volumes shows a picture of Kagura, but the description next to it is clearly on to Totosai....a quirky blacksmith or something...
In another volume I have, it clearly calls InuYasha's sword a 'wolf's fang' and I'm all like - thats so not right....
Ah, Viz, we love you and all your mistakes.

I have that volume -- the Kagura/Tou-Tousai picture. When I saw that, I was like: ......... OKAY
In Tokyopop, they misspelled "Mepshito" three different ways, one on the title page, one on another title page, and one on the back cover. It's from one of my favourite Manga.

I'll make a note to remember that.
If it's published in the US, I'll also get the volume where Kagura dies. ;-;

Lemme see where the Band of Seven come in at, up until Banky dies. VIZ isn't up that far yet. They still haven't reached Kikyou's final end.
EDIT; 24-28, ENGLISH EDITION. Kikyou's first end with Naraku (on the mountain) comes in at volume 29.

Demon_Eyes - July 16, 2008 12:27 AM (GMT)
See, I'm too much of a fan, even with the mistakes, to stop buying the manga. I love it too much....I got all 33 volumes....when my mom saw that I bought it the other day, she was all like, "You haven't got all of the Inuyashu yet?" I don't bother to tell her she is saying it wrong...and I said, "Nope! But it just ended....51 volumes." Yeah...$300 we spent....maybe....-.-

Your reply was kinda mean, ya know.....lawl. Personally, I don't like those people who sit in the middle of the manga/comics section just reading away. They get in the way when someone else is looking and its just plain rude.
Besides, theres this creepy man who goes to both bookstores I do and just sits there....reading comics outloud to himself....all the time...and laughs....so creepy.
And libraries don't always stock the entire series. Definatly not a 30+ series like InuYasha....

You could always pre-order it or order it out of the bookstre. I got a InuYasha profiles book (VIZ had gone and fucked that over twice, so it's like WTF.) and there's some colouring in it. SADLY, SINCE I GOT IT AS A GIFT, THE WHOLE THING IS LIKE... BENT ALL OVER... TOTALLY NOT MY STYLE.

... They're already releasing the Manga in English. They, being VIZ, are up to volume 34 (As of July 2008). However, since VIZ sucks and tends to screw up a lot, and since they shaved Ranma 1/2 by two volumes, there might be a strong possibility that they'll cut InuYasha down from 56 volumes to maybe 53 or less.
And as for the Anime itself, there is a rumour going around that they may do a OVA of it in a Rumic World/Theatre Con. in Japan. The rumours consits of Sesshoumaru and InuYasha's fight in the Meidou, and maybe the ending of the series with a little extra from the company. This is just a rumour, and I am not too sure on it. So, don't take my word for it. (I heard this rumour from Jill, a friend of mine, and all of our boarders tend to think it's just a way to get more money from the series.)
I doubt that they'll ever continue the Anime series itself, since it was a big flop with the whole English VA's and the sickening fillers. If they do continue the series, it'll most likely be in Japan, then we, the English-speakers, may or may not get it, depending on the sales of the Manga volumes and DVD's.
The series itself ended without a solid conclusion, like most of Takahashi-san's Anime adaptions -- such as Ranma 1/2 and InuYasha.
SaMaster14 - July 22, 2008 06:57 PM (GMT)
Oh ok, thanks for that info :) I would almost want it to only come out in Japan(the anime), since I could just watch the subed version.

Heheh, not a problem. ^^ I've grown used to listening to the Japanese voices. I am trying to learn Japanese myself, TBH, so I won't have to buy the English edition of the series any longer.

I will say this and this alone:
The ending woul've been more interesting if it was a tragic ending. For example; Sango and Miroku died a long painful death. Then Kagome gets the chance to prove her haters all wrong once and for all by going insane enough to kill Naraku in the most brutal way she can.
Seriously.
Then again, I perfer manga/anime series with bad endings (I.E School Days, Elfen Lied) so I am a bit picky on series.
