Okay, random Peter Murphy reference there in the topic title but... Anyway...

What lyrics move you, turn you on, speak to you, tell your story? Everyone loves music and certain music speaks to us; through us, even. So, what's your fave at the mo?
Please post proper credit.

I always liked this lyric:

I never realised the passing hours of evening showers
A slip noose hanging in my darkest dreams
I'm strangled by your haunted social scene
Just a pawn out-played by a dominating queen
It's four o'clock in the morning
Damn it listen to me good
I'm sleeping with myself tonight
Saved in time, thank God my music's still alive

Someone Saved My Life Tonight by Elton John

I'm sure Elton John didn't actually write that, it was probably that Taupin (sp?) guy, but I credited the artist anyway. xD

Coolness...There are alot of lyrics that hit home for me. But right now I am totally into Paul Banks writing. Both lyrically, and musically. He is the singer/guitarist from the band Interpol. He is an exceptional poet, full of pain and hurt. (women problems) He has so many good lyrics that it was hard to choose, but these lyrics are from the song Ogstacle 1, they just seem to strike a chord with me...

"Obstacle 1"

I wish i could eat the salt off your last faded lips
We can cap the old times make playing only logical harm
We can top the old lines clay-making that nothing else will change.

It's different now that I'm poor and aging, I'll never see this face again
You go stabbing yourself in the neck
It's different now that I'm poor and aging, and I'll never see this place again
And you go stabbing yourself in the neck

We can find new ways of living make playing only logical harm
And we can top the old times, clay-making that nothing else will change.

These are just the ones the from the song that I like...

shouldn't this be in ze music section? i know candyland gets all ze attention, but it'd still help if people could put stuff in the right place.

There's a music section? Enh, it doesn't matter anyway. I'm over it, I think.
