I like Sango! :cheer: She's so kool! But I can't say I like her more than Kikyou...I still like her though! She's soo super kool! :cheer:

I can sa one thing at least: she is not a stereotypical, sexist character. A strong, tough and reliable woman who don't need to use braindead charm to win thru life, that is what she is! (And no, the ninja-like tight uniform is for BOTH sexes.)

Sango's story alone is the reason I hope Naraku dies a slow, agonizingly pain-filled death whenever the manga finally starts to wrap up. Better yet though, I'd like to see Takahashi-sama write out his death like this: he's killed, then we watch his trip to the afterlife; first where he stands in Judgement before God, then we see from his POV his trip to the REAL Hell and consequent infinite torture and suffering he begins to be put through as his punishment. I acutally think that's better.

I started feeling this way about Naraku after seeing episodes 24-25 and 29-30.

Because of that, I also wish I could jump into the story and help Miroku comfort Sango a whole lot more as well. She needs it.

Sango is more sweeter then Kikyou.Kikyou is just plan mean i can't stand her.

Patriot, Naraku will go to the BUDDHIST/SHINTO 'Hell' to be Judged by Enma-oh (Yama), not the Book Religion's hell and God, don't forget it's set in Japan.

yea....i think kikyo AND sango rock!! that's what i used to have in my siggy. anyway, it's true sango is sweet, but kikyo has a sweet side too. anyways, i think kikyo is just slightly better than sango, but that's just my opinion. anyway......i think that's all i want to say....

The structure of Hell is remarkably complex in many Chinese and Japanese religions. The ruler of Hell has to deal with politics, just as human rulers do. Hell is the subject of many folk stories and manga. In many such stories, people in hell are able to die again, but no one seems to care about the apparent contradiction. (Note: the strong influence of Buddhism (see below) on Chinese and Japanese Hells means that this is not necessarily a contradiction.)

Buddhism

Buddhism acknowledges several hells, which are places of great suffering for those who commit evil actions, such as cold hells and hot hells. Like all the different realms within cyclic existence, an existence in hell is temporary for its inhabitants. Those with sufficiently negative karma are reborn there, where they stay until their specific negative karma has been used up, at which point they are reborn in another realm, such as that of humans, of hungry ghosts, of animals, of asuras, of devas, or of demons all according to the individual's karma.


Shinto (traditional)

Yomi, the Japanese word for underworld, is similar to Hades or Hell and is most commonly known for Izanami's retreat to that place after her death. Izanagi followed her there and upon his return he washed himself, creating Amaterasu, Susanowo, and Tsukiyomi in the process. (See Japanese mythology)

After the arrival of Buddhism, Yomi also became one of the Buddhist hells in Japan, like Kakuri which is ruled by Enma.

....So....you're basically saying all Buddhists and Shintos go to Hell...Right?

No, he didn't say that. He's saying the part of their Hell you go to depends on how bad of a person you were.

I asked him to PM me some basic info on the Shinto/Buddhist idea of Hell and the afterlife in general so I could compare to the version of Hell of my own faith, and also to be able to understand better the reasoning behind some of the things that happen in the show.

Bouddhists and all, the ones who did good, have good karma and will go to higher states of existences, like the land of the devas, and, if they realised the Enlightement, their 'non-soul' will 'melt' with the 'universe', sort of - nirvana.

Shinto, being a kind of shamanism, if you think about t, they have a more personal, classic afterlife (one have to realise that afterlife in some old, pagan beliefves, and even in archaic, first judaism, afterlife could be quite gloomy without bing painfull - see cheol and hades).

Another thing I like about Sango is that if she lived in the modern era, and and some sick minded guy tried to assault her or anything, they'd be in for one heck of a rude awakening! She can knock the crap out of most guys if they tried anything!
