Title: InuYasha - Rage Against the Darkness
Description: A little idea of mine...
Dinoracha - July 29, 2005 10:08 AM (GMT)
Ok everyone, first off, I'M REALLY SORRY! I don't know much about the InuYasha's and the other gang's personalities very well, so if they sound weird, please bea with me! Another note, this one DOES include some major violence and at times A LOT of swearing. So if you don't like that stuff, go read something else. ^_^ Hope you all enjoy! - Dino
Ok, first chapter! I spent a month on this, so if everything seems to go by real fast, sorry! I just wanted to finish it and get it over with... The next chapter, all will be revealed. ^^
Chapter 1- A Speedy 10 Minutes
"He's always angry at me when I leave, but never around when I get back..." Kagome grumbled as she tossed her backpack over the side of the well, easily climbing out. She heaved herself over, and rubbed her arm a bit, slowly looking around. She slung her backpack over her shoulder, and started to walk along, taking a long, deep breath in and enjoying the fresh air. It was a clear sunny day, with not one cloud to be seen. She was busy enjoying the day, when her eyes caught sight of a red liquid trailing along into the forest.
'Wait... Blood?' She thought to herself, and knelt down to the goopy puddle, and put a finger in it. She lifted it close to her eyes, and a pungent odour flowed into her nostrils.
It was blood. Fresh, to be exact.
She wiped her finger off in a patch of grass, and sighed seeing a stain on the end of her finger. She looked ahead, and the puddle kept going and going, but getting smaller and smaller each puddle. With a gulp, she started to jog a bit, following the blood patches, until she saw that the path took a hard curve to the left, into a big leafy bush.
"Idiot..." She mumbled to herself, remembering she left her bow and arrows with the others. With a mix of stupidity and courage, she started to slowly sneak towards the bush, it rustling slightly with some kind of moment. Picking up a stick for defense, she gently parted the bush to one side, and she noticed someone sitting down, with their head slumped down. she had to take a double-take; For a moment she thought she saw InuYasha. Instead of him, there sat, what appeared to be, a young boy, with long white hair that went down to his waist. Atop his head was small dog ears, similar to InuYasha's. He was wearing a dark blue men's kimono, it stained slightly red on it's left arm. She noticed on his hands were some small, yet sharp claws. After clearing up her head, she finally realized of how badly wounded he was. The whole length of his arm had a long gash running across it, from just below the wrist, to just below his elbow.
"Um... Hello...?" She gently called, and his hand twitched slightly. "Are you all right...?" She poked his good arm with the stick, and his head slowly tilted up, and a pair of terrified blue eyes was looking up at her. One small fang was poking from him mouth, it being a bit short. "You all right...?" She said softly again, and the boy simply gave a light head shake. Taking her backpack from her shoulder, Kagome pulled a few bandages from inside, and set them on the ground in front of her. "Hold still... This might hurt..." She said as she pulled some of the cloth off, and started wrapping it around his wounded arm. He did as told, and stayed as still as he could. Every so often a tiny whimper would escape her throat, but that ended when Kagome finished her work. "What happened to you?" She asked, setting her supplies back into her pack.
"M... My brother..." The boy finally said, his tone almost like that of a whisper.
"Your brother...?"
No response. His eyes simply went to the ground. With a curious look, she went to look around, when a light glow caught her eye. She quickly looked for the glow, and noticed it was coming from the boy's chest; Mainly around his heart. It was a light, violet glow, and her mind instantly clicked...
A piece of the Shikon jewel was glimmering softly from his chest.
She lifted her hand up, but slowly lowered it again, knowing he was scared. "Why... Why did your brother attack you?" She stuttered lightly, trying not to focous too hard on the gem's glow. The boy's eyes quivered a bit, looking behind Kagome at something. Turning her around curiously, her face went a ghostly pale, seeing a intimidating figure.
He looked just like the boy, except this one wore a jet black men's kimono, with the same long white hair, dog ears, claws, but two fangs poking from his jaw. His eyes were lifeless, them being pitch black like night time.
"Move..." The man muttered, looking down at her. His eyes seemed lifeless, but they almost felt like they were cutting right through... Kagome looked back at the boy, seeing the terrified look on his face, then back at the man, shaking her head.
"No." She said sternly. The man tilted his head to one side, arching an eyebrow.
"Move... Or die." Yet again Kagome firmly shook her head, but regretted it as the man grabbed her by the back of her shirt, and flung her through the air and landing about 50 feet away on the ground with a hard THUD. Kagome watched in horror as the man grabbed the boy by the ears, cutting around the boy's chest where she saw the jewel shard. Pulling the skin back, the man reached his hand in, and plucked off the bloody shard, the boy mean while screaming in bloody pain. The man dropped the boy, who's skin was slowly going lifeless.
"This easy..." The man sighed, shaking his head.
"You bastard!!" Kagome barked at him, quickly covering her mouth.
"I am no bastard..." The man growled, disappearing and re-appearing right in front of her. "I," He grabbed her hard by the neck, "Am Lord Kurashina. You will do well to remember my name..." He slowly started to squeeze harder and harder, as Kagome's face started to go blue from no oxygen. With timing you would find only in the movie's, a huge plume of flame zoomed out from behind a bush, and Kurashina disappeared yet again, dropping the shard on the ground. Kagome slumprf onto her knee's, grabbing at her throat and coughing wildly, breathing to get a regular flow of air back into her lungs. From behind the bush ran out a young lad in a light brown men's kimono, with a black vest over his chest. His hair was blonde and spiked out in various places, and his green eyes narrowed fiercely. In his right hand was a long wooden staff that curled at the top, holding a crystal clear orb. Along it's sides were various gems and jewels of many colors, none being of the Shikon jewel though.
"Who...?" Kagome mumbled, slowly getting up.
"Insolent whelp..." Kurashina sighed, now standing in a tree high above. The new face grumbled a bit, looking up at him.
"Damn it Kurashina!! Get down here!" He barked, and looked over at the boy in blue. "Oh, SHIT!" He yelled, and picked up the jewel shard, running over to the boy's side. "Ryo, hey, c'mon!" The lad set the shard back on the boy's exposed heart, it sticking almost immediately, and layed his staff by the wound. "Oh Mother Gaia, bring cures to thine's pain..." He muttered, as the wound around the boy's heart closed and healed, as the one on his arm. Even with the healing, the boy in blue was still out cold. The boy in brown looked up at Kurashina, gritting his teeth. "Bastard!! Why won't you just leave him the hell alone?!" Kurashina disappeared, only to stand between Kagome and him.
"He has something I need..." Kurashina muttered quietly.
"You don't need it, you understand that yet?!"
"Yes, I do..."
"Geez, do we have to go through this again?!" Kurashina sighed at that, bowing his head.
"Fine. I shall take my leave for now... But I will be back... And you are all, dead." He turned to look at Kagome. "Do not defend them wench. They'll only slow you down..." And with that, he disappeared in a puff of miasma, slowly fading away.
"Wench?! I'm not his wench!" Kagome barked, stomping her foot. She was about to say something else, but her eyes turned back to the boy in blue, slowly walking to his side.
"He'll be fine, we need to get him back to my place though." The boy in brown sighed.
"How?"
"We carry him!" Kagome blinked a bit, seeing him walk over and take the blue boy's ankles. "You take his head, I got his feet." Sighing a little, she walked over, and taking the boy by the shoulder's, she heaved him up slightly, suprised he didn't weigh as much as she thought. "Let's go." The boy in brown said, marching west ward. As Kagome carried the boy, she couldn't help but try and figure out what the hell just happened... She meets a wounded boy, meets a murderous man, she's saved by a different boy... And the jewel shard... She let a long breath out, not really wanting to think about it right now, and only wanted to take a small nap, and clear her mind.
Then, the questions will come.

Chapter 2- A Set Of Claw's, And A Hundred A-Fighting Force
"Just about there..." The boy in brown sighed, feeling a bit tired from the hours walk. Kagome simply gave a small nod, seeing that they were starting to pass through a set of wooden gates, leading them into a village. It wasn't a large village full of activity, but it was still having a bit of energy among the citizens. As the villager's noticed the boy in blue, their eyes suddenly turned harsh as they all glared at the trio.
"Um... Why... Are they staring at us...?" Kagome whispered to the boy in brown.
"They don't like demon's... Doesn't matter if they're full of half, they hate em'..." He replied with a sigh. She gulped a little, the feeling of all those pairs of eyes on her was just a bit nerve racking. "Here we go, my place." The boy said, looking up at a 2 floor house. Walking inside, Kagome slowly looked around to see how nice it was inside.
One corner of the first floor was a small kitchen, complete with a counter, a few pot's of water, and a cupboard full of spices and herbs. A stove/fireplace stood in it as well, but it looked like it hadn't been used in years from all the dust collected from it. In the main part of the floor, was what seemed to be a living room; A bright red rug sat long on the floor, with a dark brown wooden table almost as long on top of it. At the far end of the room was a flight of stairs leading up into the next floor, which was where the boy in brown was heading. Slowly making their way up the stairs, the boy lead her towards a bed with white sheets and a wood frame holding it up. Looking around, Kagome noticed a long brown robe that looked to be used for sleeping. At the far end was a table with a small satchel and a dusty old book that was nearly bursting from all the pages in it. "Just set him down here." The boy in brown said, leading her towards the bed. Kagome nodded as they eased the boy in blue down on the soft sheets, both letting a sigh of relief from the hike. "Whew... Man, he's packed on some weight..." The boy in brown wheezed, bending his back slightly to crack it. Kagome wiped a bit of sweat off her forehead, and looked at him.
"What's your name... Anyway?" Kagome asked, still thinking about earlier on.
"Hmm? Oh, I'm Haruka." The boy in brown said, giving her a small bow. "And you are...?"
"I'm Kagome." she said with a small smile, returning the bow.
"A pretty name... For a pretty girl..." Haruka chuckled, looking at a small pile of hay in the corner, with a small black object in it. Kagome blushed a little, blinking a few times. "Psst, Macheena..." He softly whispered, and the black object wriggled around a little.
"Macheena...?" Kagome said, blinking again. Haruka nodded, and the item was actually alive! After a few moments, it walked off the hay, and sat down, giving them a curious woof. It was a small wolf pup with jet black fur, but the tip of it's tail had a bit of white on it. It's eyes were a light grey, blinking every now and then. Along it's body was bright 'flame' markings, that seemed to let off a glow. "Aww..." Kagome cooed. "It's so cute..." Haruka chuckled a little, wiggling his fingers.
"C'mere, it's ok..." He said, and the pup slowly started towards him, eyeing Kagome a bit nervously. "He's a bit afraid of strangers..." He grinned, taking Macheena into his arms and cradling him. She couldn't help but smile more, seeing the pup give a small wuffle. "Wanna hold him?" Haruka said, looking up at her then down at Macheena.
"Uh... Sure!" She nodded, and held her arms out. Macheena gave a curious sniff, walking over into her arms and sniffing every few seconds. He finally stopped and lyed down, looking up at her, his tail wagging cheerfully. Kagome couldn't help but giggle slightly, pulling her arms back in to gently cradle him, swaying her arms back and forth slowly. "He's so adorable... Is he yours?" She asked, looking up at Haruka.
"Well, yes and no. I found him a week ago by the edge of the forest. The little guy was all alone, and I couldn't leave him there so... I brought him home!" He said, walking over the table and setting his staff down, giving his arm a stretch.
"Didn't he have a pack or family...?"
"Probably, but I couldn't see any other wolves anywhere..."
"They abandoned him?!"
Haruka shrugged at that, taking the satchel and opening it slightly, looked inside, then quickly tightened it shut, plopping it back down.
"I'm guessing yes..." He turned around and sat on the table, looking at the markings on the pup. "See those? I've never seen a wolf with those kinds of patterns; Its not right." Kagome gave a small nod, not really hearing any of it, since her focous was more on Macheena, making little cute noises, seeing him give tiny woofs.
"Nngh... H-Haru... Ka...?" The boy in blue muttered, shifting around slightly as he groaned quietly. Kagome jumped a bit, and turned to look at him.
"Hey... You feelin' better?" Haruka said, walking over and kneeling beside him.
"K-Kura... Where is h-he...?" The boy whined, opening his eyes.
"Don't worry, he's gone, just take it easy..." Haruka sighed, putting his hand on the boy's head to try and calm him. After a few moments, the boy slowly sat up, rubbing his head.
"What... Happened to me...?" The boy coughed, his voice a bit raspy.
"This weird man was trying to kill you... Don't you remember?" Kagome said, tilting her head to one side. The boy slowly shook his head, his ear giving a small twitch. "Well... You were concious when it happened... Do you remember your name?" The boy nodded slowly, his eyes down on the floor.
"Y-yes..." He said weakly. "I'm... I'm Ryoukin..." He said quietly, giving his neck a rub. Kagome smiled a little, glad he still had his memory. "Nice to meet you Ryoukin, I'm Kagome." Ryoukin slowly went to look at her, then quickly looked back down, his cheeks a bit red. She glanced over at Haruka, who was chuckling a little as he was going down the stairs.
"Let's give him a minute, guess he needs to gather his thoughts or something..." He called out, and Kagome went after him, Macheena still cradled in his arms.
"So, feeling hungry?" Haruka said, walking in towards the kitchen. Kagome thought for a moment, sitting down on the rug, setting Macheena down as he started to wander around.
"A little... What do you have?" She asked, resting her head down on the table.
"Fish, some fruit, a bit of rice..." He called back, rustling around some pots and a few jars.
"Some rice would be nice, thank you." She yawned, scratching her cheek a little.
"Sure thing!" Haruka chirped, getting some water to boil. After a few minutes Ryoukin lagged down the stairs, his eyes looking quite tired. Macheena gave a cheery woof, trotting up and nuzzling his leg.
"Hey lil' guy..." He chuckled, taking the pup into his arms. He wandered over and plopped down on the rug, the far end side of the table, sighing a little.
"You ok...?" Kagome asked quietly, lifting her head up to look at her. Ryoukin gave a slow nod, resting his head down on the table.
"Yeah... I'm fine..." He said sluggishly, yawning a little. She nodded a bit, smiling as she saw Macheena hop onto the table, giving Ryoukin's face a nuzzle.
"Dinner's up!" Haruka said cheerfully, walking in with two plates of steamed rice, and two small cups full of cool water.
"Aren't you having something...?" Kagome asked quietly, seeing him set a plate in front of her and Ryoukin. Haruka gave his head a light shake, shrugging.
"I ate earlier on, so I'm fine." He said with a grin, glancing out the window for a moment, a frown crawling across his lips. "Oh, hell no..." He sighed, and bolted upstairs. Kagome blinked a few times, and glanced out the window herself, and went a bit pale, seeing a huge mob of the villagers march towards the house carrying torches, scythes, sickles, axes, and other sharp weapons. "Guys, get ready to go. NOW!!" Haruka barked from upstairs, thumping around with quick footsteps.
"Why, w-what's going on?" She asked with a touch of fear in her voice.
"The villagers are... How to say... 'Pissed' at me?" He said, thumping down the stairs with his staff in one hand, the old book protruding from inside his kimono, and the satchel tied to his waist.
"Why? What'd you do wrong?" She quickly got to her feet, peeking out the window to see the mob was now on their front door.
"Haruka Gohan!!!" A gruff voice barked from outside. "You know of the village's law! No demon or half-demon are allowed to enter this village!" Kagome blinked a few times again, slowly looking over at Ryoukin.
"So... That makes you..." Before she could finish her sentence, he slowly looked away, his dog ears lightly drooping down.
"Give up the demon, and we'll leave you alone!" A slightly younger voice called out.
"Never! This one is my friend!" Haruka cried out, keeping his staff aimed the door. "If you want him, you'll have to go through me!" As soon as those words left his mouth, the door started to pulsate with violent force. "Heh, they want to come in..." He chuckled, the orb on his staff giving a slight yellow glow. Ryoukin got to his feet, raking his claw's together slowly. Haruka glanced at him and shook his head. "Like hell you are! You aren't well enough to fight yet!" He barked. "Take Macheena and Lady Kagome upstairs and hide," He turned his eyes back to the door. "And leave this bastards to me." Ryoukin gave a slow nod, scooping up the pup in his arms, and saw Kagome already going up the stairs. As he hustled up, the door burst open, allowing a trio of burly men to romp into the house.
"Is he going to be all right?" Kagome asked with more nervous-nes in her voice. Ryoukin nodded slowly, hugging Macheena close.
"I'm sure of it... I've never seen him lose a fight..." He said quietly, his ears still drooped down. Even as they spoke, the sound of smashing metal and various explosions and cracks could be heard downstairs.
"But... I saw about a hundred of them..." She gulped, looking around to find something to defend herself with.
"Oi!!! You two! Up here, now!!" A man barked to his comrades, as he hustled up the stairs with a long pitch-fork, dressed in normal tattered clothes. Followed behind him was two smaller men, dressed in the same clothes, except weilding sickles.
"Nyehehe, we got em' outnumbered!" The smaller man chuckled, gripping the sickle tightly.
"Faoy, you take the girl... Groay, you and me take the little bugger..." The large man snarled, as the two smaller men took their positions. Ryoukin looked down at Macheena, then at Kagome.
"You know what to do..." He whispered to the pup, who gave a proud woof, hopping down from his arms and bounding over to Kagome's side.
Foay made a fast charge at Kagome, and only grinned seeing Macheena snarl at him viciously. She shut her eyes tight, and covered her head, and didn't see what the little pup did to save her life; Macheena took a deep breath in, the flame patterns on his body giving a bright glow, and breathed a huge breath, letting loose a small plume of fire at Foay, making his pants ablaze.
"Gyyaaaaaaah!" He screamed, running around wildly as the flames crept more and more up his body, until they reached his head, and his body falling limp to the floor.
"Uh, Nimoro..." Groay said, looking up at the large man. "Maaaaaybe we should go?"
"Hell no! We get the bugger and we'll be rich!" Nimoro barked, eyeing Ryoukin. "Besides, what can this measly runt do...?" Ryoukin raked his claw's together slowly, letting a small growl out as his ears folded back against his head. "Aww, is the puppy angry?" Nimoro let out a cocky laugh, which was silenced as Ryoukin slashed him across the throat. As blood poured from his neck, little squeaks of pain echoed out, before he landed on the ground in a large puddle of blood, twitching a few times before going totally lifeless. Groay's jaw was hanging wide open, his face as pale as a ghost.
"H-hey man, let's keep the pea- GRRRRAAAAAAACCCCCK!!!!!!!" Groay started to speak, but yet he was silenced as well as Ryoukin threw 4 slashes across his face, making him fall limp as well. Kagome stared at him wide-eyed, blinking a few times.
'That... Those small claw's doing that much damage...?' She thought to herself as she slowly got up to her feet, the noises from downstairs now ending. Macheena gave a little breath of relief, a bit of smoke flaring from his nostrils. Ryoukin didn't say anything as he marched down the stairs, and saw Haruka leaning on his staff, wiping some sweat off his forehead.
"You ok...?" Haruka said over his shoulder.
"Y-yeah... I'm fine..." Ryoukin said quietly, rubbing his neck a little. With Macheena in her arms, Kagome made her way down, feeling a bit sick from all the burnt and bloody bodies laying everywhere. From a quick estimate, she guessed there was about 126 dead villager's.
"Well, we can't stay here now..." Haruka sighed, rubbing his head.
"Why's that?" Kagome said as she stepped around the bodies.
"They're gonna get re-inforcements now..." He turned around to face them.
"But... Where will we go...?" She tilted her head to one side, lightly scritching at Macheena's head.
"I don't know." Haruka gave a light shrug. "Somewhere where they accept half-demons, I guess." Kagome glanced over at Ryoukin again, who had his head slightly bowed down. "I'm thinking... North! I hear there's a town up ahead where they accept demons and half-demons alike."
"Well, let's go then!" Kagome said with a nod and a smile, as the group went out the door, and headed north-bound, not having the slightest clue on why they were attacked...

Dinoracha - August 9, 2005 05:42 AM (GMT)
Yes they will! ^_^ But, I'm horrible at their personalities. ^^;
Patriot1776 - August 9, 2005 10:19 AM (GMT)
So far, you've got Kagome's personality down really well. If you need a template for the others, re-read my fic "Green-clothed Warrior". I spent a lot of time while writing those chapters trying to get everybody's dialog and actions to fit their personality (except Link's of course, I made his up since he has no personality).
