Hello This idea popped into my head and I decided to put it in action.

Warning: I haven't seen Itachi much in the series as I only reached to just before the finals of thefinal Chuunin exam and all I know about him other than what was told about him was whatI gathered from research...

Disclaimer: I'm not gonna get sued...i own nothing of the wonderful series

Near a soft murmuring stream in the middle of Konoha a girl placed two fingers lightly in the water in the middle of the night. It wasn’t something she normally did, she was a little depressed at the moment. Both of her teammates had gone away and never returned for the last part of the Chuunin exam when it came for their turn. She could understand why Naruto left…a little. He wanted to become stronger, wanted to become the Konoha Hokage and so he left so that he could train. It was Sasuke that this little thirteen year old pink haired girl worried about. Her mind flicked back to the images of when she had first met Orochimaru; that vile creature that doesn’t deserve to be called a human being.

She remembered the day clearly, giving it the ominous presence of it having been only yesterday. She hated those memories. It had been the first time she had ever seen her brave Sasuke afraid. It had scared her but he had pulled through enough to save them both from the disguised Sennin by stabbing himself in the leg with his own kunai. That day had also been the first day that she had seen Sasuke give up. It made her so afraid. If something were to make Sasuke look and act like that then something about this person must not be right. And sure enough it wasn’t.

Orochimaru gave Sasuke a ‘present’ in her mind. Something that in Sakura’s mind bonded him with Orochimaru forever. It was horrible…to see him suffer. It was frightful to see him leave the hospital without any sign of where he had gone. It was scary to think of what Orochimaru was molding Sasuke into. She remembered when she had first met Kakashi as their sensei. Sasuke was asked to tell what his goal in life was. He told him that he was going to kill someone even if was the last thing he did. That was what Sakura got from it. That was the start of when Sakura started to see the Sasuke that was under the hard cold exterior.

She wanted to know more about it. It was hard for her not to. Her obsession over him was only based on the mask that was placed on to shield the Sasuke that was really there inside. It was in that way and some others that he was like Gaara, who hid behind his shield of manipulated sand. Ino was oblivious to what Sasuke was or had the potential to be. It made Sakura hate and feel pity for Ino at the same time.

Sakura became alert all of a sudden as a sensation came over her. It was cool, the feeling of danger strangely present everywhere turn her head. She slowly stood up and straightened her posture, grabbing some kunai and looking around. Her eye caught a shadow in a tree that was bigger than normal. She turned her body to face it, waiting for whoever was spying on her to come out and face her. She felt two cold hands enclose around her neck and in a moment without thinking she took the ninja tool and made a shallow but painful cut along four of the fingers that belonged to the closest hand. Both of them retreated quickly and she could feel something in her mind telling her that she was going to die.

She turned around to look at who had tried to strangle her and her eyes widened and hints of fear slipped into them. She gripped the kunai hard, her knuckles turning white. The strange man was wearing all black save for the dull red cloud looking thing that somehow refused to reflect back the light reflecting from the moon. Her eyes looked into the two blood red eyes, the eyes that marked someone as Uchiha, save for her sensei Kakashi, with the comma like marks sticking out like a black hole in space. Sakura took and involuntary step backwards.

“W-wh-who are you?” Sakura asked, realizing she looked a little weak but also trying her words very carefully. Sasuke was supposed to be the only survivor of the Uchiha clan and yet here this man was, standing in front of her alive and well. Sakura wondered if he had been on a mission at the time of the massacre but she didn’t think that this was very likely. The Uchiha in front of her gave a smirk in her direction. The smirk held no joke to it but rather only cold hard evil amusement. Sakura couldn’t help but shiver.

“You are aware of my last name. It’s all you really need to know.” The Uchiha told her in a low but clearly dangerous voice. The voice…it reminded her of Sasuke. She mentally hit herself in the head. He was related to Sasuke; of course he would sound a little like him. ‘But it’s more than a little…’ Sakura thought to herself. She sighed, shaking her head. Her pink hair loosely followed.

“How is it…that you are still alive…If Sasuke-kun is the only survivor of the Uchiha?” Sakura asked in a low voice. Itachi looked at her with mild surprise. Sasuke-kun? He looked at the pink haired girl who was standing in front of him. The girl looked fearful of him. She looked weak, about as weak as his brother the day he had killed the entire clan and left Sasuke to live he presumed. The way she carried herself made it seem like she wanted to impress someone. He wouldn’t be amazed if she was trying to impress his dear little brother.

“I was the one that killed them.” Itachi answered simply, his manner showing he had no regret for what he had done. Sakura blood ran deathly cold in that one instant. She looked at him in the eyes, trying to dig up any hidden remorse. There wasn’t any. Her breathing became shallow; her fists clench silently, her nails digging into her palms.

“You killed them? For what reason? They were you family!” She screamed at him, softly at first but each word and each syllable was louder than the one before it. Itachi thought that this was amusing, but only for a moment. He hated to be yelled out and in a swift moment he took a kunai he had and placed it at her thought and with his other hand he hooked two fingers at the base of her outfit just below the neck so she couldn’t back away.

“I have something I can use you for and you better do it.” He whispered venomously in her ear.
