Title: Art programs discussion (For Digital Artists)
Description: Help out your fellow artists here?
augi - December 5, 2005 10:05 PM (GMT)
On this thread, recommend good art programs and things you think might help an artist. If you happen to know a link to a free art program download that you'd like others to know about or a link to the company site of good buyable computer software(for art), post them here. This thread does not include linkage to tutorials. :chidori8p: I'll edit this post with the links now and then. ^_^
PS If you feel confused :narutoang: about an art program you're using ask someone here and maybe they'll explain it to you. Anyway, post away!

I would recommend Adobe Photoshop ver 7 and up. It's great to use, and that's the program I use to draw and make graphics. It contains lots of various colors, brushes, layers, styles, you name it! I'm sounding like I'm selling you this program, but hey! It's good to use if your a begginer or intermediate.
Patriot1776 - December 5, 2005 11:57 PM (GMT)
Okay, since I started this who discussion on art programs, I'm wanting to know something. Anybody heard of another freebie program called PhotoFiltre? It was what I was using to play with pics with before I heard of GIMP.
shirahime-syo13 - December 6, 2005 01:23 AM (GMT)
PhotoFiltre? I've never heard of that. But it doesn't sound all that great, well I haven't tried it anyways XD
inuyasha_luver_4ever - December 6, 2005 01:51 AM (GMT)
Getting Adobe Photoshop 9.0....YESSS....

Freebie program that was mentioned to me over at the CK5.com forums. It stunk really compared to the GIMP.
augi - December 9, 2005 09:30 PM (GMT)
Erm, link to the websites of the program? Heh, I've never used or heard of Photo Filtre.
Right now, I use a graphics tablet. It's not really a program but it has to do with digital art. The company that makes the tablet I use is
Wacom. ^_^
kikyoulvr4eva - December 12, 2005 05:48 AM (GMT)
You got a tablet Augi? That's awesome! How big is it? I too, use the tablet made by Wacom.
I'm still stuck with Adobe Photoshop 2.0 (it came with the tablet) and I'm hoping to get a better version soon.

I don't use any of the programs that came with my tablet. Erm, the size is 4x5. It's not the size I wanted, but I'm fine with it. I got Graphire 4 as an xmas pressy. ^_^ not exactly what I wanted either, but I'm happy.
shirahime-syo13 - December 13, 2005 12:20 AM (GMT)
I'm satisfied with Adobe Photoshop 8.0 and 9.0. I usually get my bushes from websites. If augi agrees, I can post the websites if that's okay.
augi - December 13, 2005 03:57 AM (GMT)
Post any websites that you think is helpful. If I think it'll help the members, I'll put it in the first post later. Heh, I g2g now.
shirahime-syo13 - December 14, 2005 12:04 AM (GMT)
Okay, well
here's one site that has great brushes ^^
augi - December 14, 2005 03:38 AM (GMT)
I already added the link so umm yeah.

InuYasha_full_demon - December 24, 2005 04:59 PM (GMT)
where is that PhotoShop ?
where can i find it ?
augi - December 24, 2005 06:50 PM (GMT)
IFD, it's an expensive program. It's not for free(though you can get a trial version). The program costs $600. I doubt you want to spend that much money on a program.
shirahime-syo13 - December 24, 2005 06:53 PM (GMT)
Heh, I got it for free ^-^

Yeah, but that's cause you got it from your mom who works at a store with the stuff in it. I meant it wasn't free for downloading on the internet.
Kitsune_kitty - December 24, 2005 07:04 PM (GMT)
Trust me its not cheap. I have 7.0 and it cost a butt load!

That's because I am a computer geek, and I usually get all my programs for free. By the way, my mom bought me a tablet, but she won't let me use it until AFTER christmas day.

Heh, a tablet will take time for you to get used to(unless you're really good with a mouse). I used to use a mouse all the time so it wasn't much of a difference(just better).
Tara-chan- Yup, a buttload
shirahime-syo13 - December 24, 2005 07:12 PM (GMT)
Well, the tablet I got doesn't need a mouse (plus I never use a mouse since I have a labtop). Instead of a mouse, it's a pen that I can draw with. It's soo cool :pinkusagi08:
If y'all wondering what version I use it's Adobe Photoshop ver. 8.0

I know it's a pen. I meant, that it still requires a bit of coordination for it to work. Like if you're not that great drawing without looking down on paper, then you're not going to be that great with a tablet. Handeye coordination I believe? But anyway, your's could also be one that lets you draw directly on the screen(like the one my mom has).
shirahime-syo13 - December 24, 2005 07:20 PM (GMT)
Yep, mine let's you draw directly on the sreen. I like drawing without looking at my sketches, so I don't think I'm going to suck at it. I think it will bump my pictures a notch.
Damn tablet was $200

Aw, I wanted one like that. Oh well. $200 is actually VERY cheap for one of those. They're supposed to be like $1,000 and higher.

Patriot1776 - January 1, 2006 01:36 AM (GMT)
Okay, I have a new question. How do you make animated GIFs?
kikyoulvr4eva - January 4, 2006 10:00 PM (GMT)
I use Adobe Photoshop and make them move by layer by layer. It's not recommended though, cause it takes a long time and there's a better program to make animated GIFs. I don't recall it though.
shirahime - Yes, tablets are very expensive, and the one you got was very cheap. I got a 9x12 tablet and it cost over $750. And I recieved some crappy programs with it....
inuyasha_luver_4ever - January 5, 2006 11:06 PM (GMT)
I got photoshop free from my dad's work..he makes websites. my mom too.
My dad made:
http://mysudbury.caAnd my mom made:
http://bhranch.ca (suckish.)
http://foothillsfarm.on.ca (Good!)
http://trinitybreeders.on.ca (Good!)
augi - January 5, 2006 11:42 PM (GMT)
I'm fine with the fact that you linked the websites your parents made, but this thread is for discussion about art programs, not linking out to sites made by people you know.
shirahime-syo13 - January 24, 2006 01:47 AM (GMT)
http://hybrid-genesis.net/indexxx1.htmlAnother great Photoshop website ^^ It has brushes, textures, patterns and tutorials. But you have to have Photoshop 7.0 and higher to use a really good quality of what they offer.
inuyasha_luver_4ever - January 25, 2006 04:10 PM (GMT)
That's a good one, Syo. ^^
I found a Photoshop website too, for 7.0 + I think.
http://www.8nero.net/brushes/index.htm It has great brushes and what-not. ^^

Does anyone know how to get rid of guildelines after putting it on the computer/scanning it?

You can always use a brush on a program and just edit the pic yourself. If you mess up, either control+z it or redraw some of it using the colour that you used for the picture(eyedropper tool?). I sometimes edit my piccies like that. But anyway, if yer program is tablet compatable and allows pressure sensitive levels, it should be easier to do.
Tori-san - I've been to that site before. ^_^ I also know a site where they have textures for graphics(which I like a lot) but I can't use cause they're for Adobe Photoshop.
Oh and, I put up the links posted and also the link to download OC 1.1(the program I rave about and only use).
Tutorials and OC 1.1
kikyoulvr4eva - February 4, 2006 03:37 AM (GMT)
Awesome. Thanks augi. I was hoping there was a program that could split my pic up in layers and I could delete the lines, but maybe in my dreams, lol. XD
augi - February 4, 2006 03:43 AM (GMT)
Well, a shame there isn't(just not one that I know of). Augi wants you to try out OC 1.1 ^_^ :3nods:
kikyoulvr4eva - February 4, 2006 03:48 AM (GMT)
Cool. I don't have Open Canvas though. Got Adobe Photoshop.
killerbankotsu - February 9, 2006 09:42 PM (GMT)
There is Illustrator too, and well in skool there is photoshop CS or something like that the one before the newest one... I can't remember :P
