Not for the squeamish of blood! This is made for the writing competition on Syo's. Just thouht I'd post it.

Shelly lived with her mother, Molly. Shelly had never known her father. According to her spiteful mother, he was apparently normal man who had abandoned them because the thought of children repelled him. Like someone would rear a horse, Shelly was taught from a very young age that her father was a man who could not be trusted and always hated. at the age of 15, Shelly despised the man name Father, whom she had never even met.

Our story starts with Shelly walking home from school. Her friends walked around her, jostling and joking and doing everything teens do on their spare time while socializing. They turned a corner, and a sprinkler chose that exact moment to spray Shelly and her friends with icy-cold water.

"What the-" Shelly sputtered, attempting to wring out her shirt. One of her friends, whose name was Sam,bent over and rested him mouth close to her ear.

"That was my mother. She doesn't like you much." Sam informed her. Shelly turned to her boyfriend, an angry look on her face.

"Why wouldn't she? It's not like I've been cheating on you!" She exclaimed furiously, not bothering to keep her voice down despite Sam's hands making a tune it down motion in her direction, glancing towards his house.

"It's just....the fact you don't know your father..And she told me to leave you...so uh....I'm sorry, but it's over." He informed her, speaking quickly. His foot scuffed the ground, and his hands went sheepishly behind his back. With a look of sorriness,he ran into his house, shaking out his hair like a dog.

Shelly would of stood there, staring dumbly into the distance if the fear of the sprinkler hadn't compelled her to move her feet. She was tired of this. Of being shunned, and ignored, and treated badly just because her father was unknown to her.

He left us,it was all his fault, thought shelly, the furious pounding in her ears and the blood boiling in her veins making her ignore all of her other friends, who spoke in hushed voices. Once she got home, she headed to the kitchen and dropped of her bag. Stuck to the fridge was a note from her mother saying she was working late. Something snapped.

As if someone controlled her,she reached numbly for a kitchen drawer handle. It gleamed brightly in the lights she had flicked on upon her entrance. The drawer slid open easily, and silver flashed from inside.

A hand reached in and pulled out a wickedly long kitchen blade. It shined in the light as it was drawn shakily across her wrist, the white flesh on her underside contrasting with the dark blood which oozed from her cut. She slowly cut her other wrist, and more blood put adrenaline through her body as if the thought of death excited her.

More blood...more blood, Shelly thought numbly as she cut even deeper into her bloody wrists, and more blood seeped out. She began to cut various parts of her body, from her feet all the way to the thin lines on her throat. So entranced was she by the blood trickling down her flesh that she didn't hear the door open and her mother walk in.

"Shelly! what-No! Give it to me!" Her mom screeched as she wrestled the knife from her daughter, who apparently wanted more blood. After locking up the knife in the drawer, and reached for the phone while her daughter rocked on the floor. A couple calls later, she was in the hospital.

After her cuts were cared for,a mental physician came in to examine her. Molly was sent outside into the hall with her hanky as Shelly was checked up on.

"So why did you choose to cut yourself Shelly?" The physician asked, his checkboard and pen poised.

"My father. My stinking father who left. us." Shelly responded, her eyes on the white ceiling. She did not see the physician put down his checkboard and pen and rub his temples.

"That happened to me...except I left my wife. Her name was Molly...she was going to have a child, but I didn't want it. I suppose you have very right to hate people like us." He informed her.

Shelly didn't respond. Just stared at the ceiling and let the tears trickle down her face, and wish for the bloody knife that was her freedom.

THE END
