Chapter 1-Learning the mission


"Great. Why do I even bother coming to school?" muttered Yusuke, kicking a rock across the street. Having just skipped class, he was off to the arcade to relieve himself of his boredom. "Oh well, time to play Goblin King..."
"Urameshi!" called Kuwabara, running up behind Yusuke while shaking his fist.
"What is it now, Kuwabara?" asked Yusuke in a bored tone. "I don't have time, I'm going to the arcade."
"Don't snap at me or I'll pound your face in the ground, Urameshi!" Kuwabara said as he tried stirring up a fight.
"Like you can!" retorted Yusuke, slipping his hands in his pockets.
"WHY YOU I sho-" Kuwabara was cut of by a familiar voice.
"Yusuke!" Botan called, swooping down and next to the two boys on her oar.
"Hey Botan. What is it?"
"Koenma has an important mission for you, come on!" Botan said, flying off. "Hiei and Kurama are already there!"
"Again!?" he complained, following after her.
"Stop complaining, Urameshi!" Kuwabara shouted, running along side Yusuke.
"Quit your yapping!"
"Now now then, let's get going!" botan said, going faster.

In Koenma's office, ogres ran about everywhere imaginable, carrying piles of papers concerning god know what. The Prince of the Spirit World, his back turned towards them, was shouting out random commands.
"I brought Yusuke, sir," Botan said, stepping forward.
"Finally!" shouted Koenma, turning towards them."Yusuke, I have a very important matter that needs to be attended to." Yusuke looked up, snorting in defiance.
"Oh yeah? Like what?"
Koenma raised his flat screen tv with a small remote. Pressing the red button, he tuned in to a picture of a man dressed in a white baboon pelt. "This half demon is Naraku, known for many murderous and cruel deeds. Recently, he has gotten out of control, and not even the demons of his time can face him."
"What the hell, we're fighting a baboon?!" Kuwabara yelled.
From the shadows, Hiei emerged, sneering at Kuwabara. "You fool, it's a disguise."
"Shut up, shrimp!" shouted Kuwabara, glaring at the fire demon.
"Wait a minute. You said 'his time.' Whadda mean by that?" Yusuke cut in.
Kurama walked up next to Hiei before commenting," It means we will be traveling to a different era for this case."
"Precisley. The portal will only last for a few more minutes, so here's some files you should look through when you get there. Botan, will you please show them to the portal room?" said Koenma, motioning to a door.
"Wait wait wait what exactly do we have to do!" Kuwabara yelled, his stupidity blocking the small amount of common knowlegde he has.
"More will be explained on the way. Enjoy you trip!" said Koenma as Botan rushed them through the door.

As they entered the room, Kurama eyed the shaky mechanical gate. From the center, a swirling blue aura continued to rotate constantly. "Are you sure this is stable?"
"I hope it is," commented Yusuke.
"If it wasn't, would Koenma send us through it?"said Hiei in a matter-of-factly tone.
"In you go!" Botan said, shoving them into the portal and onto their journey.

Oh chill, I'm on it. I've got to edit it all over again, cause I lost it earlier.

"They're at it again," sighed Sango, sipping her tea as Inuyasha was thrust into the ground. "Kagome, wait!" he called from the crater he just made. Kagome stopped a few feet away from Inuyasha.
"Why should I!"
"Kagome's very upset this time," Shippou said, hopping onto Miroku's shoulder. Miroku looked at Shippou and nodded in agreement, inching towards Sango.
SLAP!
"Hentai!!"
Kirara lifted her head sharply, perking up her ears. "Huh? What is it, Kirara?" asked Sango, looking towards her faithful pet. Kirara growled, her figure enveloping into flames as she grew larger.
"Hey, watsup with Kirara?" asked Inuyasha, noticing the strange behavior.
"Kirara's acting strangely!" said Shippou, staring at his friend.
"Kirara! Do you hear something approaching?" Miroku said, jumping up from his sitting position. The large saber cat demon continued to growl at the bushes near by. Inuyasha, now paying attention, could hear voices.
"OW! Damn it, Kuwabara! Get off of me!" shouted a teen voice.
You baka, you're on me!" replied a deathly voice.
Everyone eyed the bushes, Miroku prepared to use his Kazaana, Shippou hid behind Miroku, and Kagome drew out her bow and arrows.
"Calm down everyone. We can't be fighting if we need to find Naraku," said a third, softer voice.
"Naraku?" thought Inuyasha, raising his claws.
Kurama, managing to untagnle himself from the dogpile, observed their surroundings with interest. Lush green trees were all that he could see, along with tall bushes. Sensing a powerful aura from there, he motioned to Hiei, who also freed himself from the two teenagers. Walking through the bushes, they noticed a group of people eyeing them suspeciously and ready to attack.
"I hate to interupt you two bickering idiots, but we have company," said Hiei, drawing his katana.
Kurama slowly drew a rose from his hair holding it in front of his face.
"Who are you!" Miroku demanded to know, stepping forward.
"Who needs to know?" retorted Yusuke, drawing back fists.
"Answer, now!" Miroku called out, gripping the prayer beads that sealed his Kazaana.
"We don't have time for this," muttered Hiei, disappearing into a tree. "Kurama, let's just find that stupid half breed and get it over with."
Inuyasha narrowed his eyes further. "Half-breed?" he inquired hotly, his claws glowing yellow.
"Yeah, we're lookin' for some guy named Naraku. You know him?" asked Yusuke.
Sango, now in her battle suit, raised Hirakotsu threateningly."What? Planning to work with him?" No one said another word, the silence continuing for quite a while. Finally, Yusuke couldn't hold it any longer as he burst out laughing. Miroku and Kagome stared at the laughing boy, puzzled.
"What's so funny?!" Kagome said, clutching Shippou as he ran into her arms.
"You think we're workin for that babbon!" laughed out Yusuke, holding his sides. "Wow, you guys are gullible!"Inuyasha growled out a warning.
"You better shut up before I do it for you."
"Inuyasha, wait! I think they are allies," said Sango, holding out a hand to stop him.
"You say you are Inuyasha? My name is Kurama, and these are my team members. Yusuke is the boy laughing, Kuwabara is the one with orange hair, and Hiei had just jumped into the trees," Kurama said, trying to cut the tension. "We were sent here on a mission to destroy Naraku."
"Feh," said Inuyasha, crossing his arms and narrowing his eyes suspiciously. "Like I believe that."
Kurama sighed, giving the hanyou a placid look.
"Like it or not, we're here to kill him," said Hiei, clearly annoyed.
"Shorty's right," said Yusuke, recieving a glare. "That's all we're gonna do."
"Inuyasha, wait. I think they're telling the truth," Kagome said, staring at Kurama.
"You'll believe anything Kagome," said Inuyasha.
"Inuyasha..."
"No! Kagome don't!"
"SIT!"
THUMP!
Inuyasha was sent head first into the ground.
"What was that!?" exclaimed Yusuke, backing away with his arms up in defense.
"It seems our friend Inuyasha is controlled by this woman," said Kurama, wary of Kagome, who stared at him.
"It's the beads around his neck. They glow," stated Hiei, looking down upon him. "Pathetic, really."
"Why you..." snarled Inuyasha, fighting the rosary.
"Hehe, why need leashes when you got one of those!" Kuwabara said, trying to be funny. No one was laughing, though.
"Thank god Kayko doesn't have one for me," said Yusuke, grinning sheepishly.
"Trust us, this happens a lot," said Sango, lowering her guard. "So, you're after Naraku?" Kurama lowered his rose and turned to talk to Sango.
"Yes, Yusuke is a spirit detective and we're 'his team'. We have been sent to fight the hanyou Naraku, for it seems that no one in this era can."
"Team? Why are you a 'team?'" questioned Inuyasha.
"Because, we work together! You know, like a soccer team?" said Kuwabara, sounding slightly intelligent. "Don't you get it?!"
"You baka, this is the Fuedal Era. They know nothing of our future," scolded Hiei, still in the tree.
"You little punk!" Inuyasha shouted, jumping into the tree to face him. "I know plenty!" Hiei glared at Inuyasha and responded with, "Then why'd you ask, you hanyou?" Inuyasha snarled
"Get your scrawny little ass over here!" he shouted, jumping to attack.
"Hiei, don't do anything too drastic!" called out Yusuke. "Like I would," responded Hiei, smirking as he dodged the claws swiftly.
Oh yeah, the mission was off to a great start.
