Title: The Key To Victory..
Description: A simple guide..
~*Symphony~Of~Seven~Stars*~ - April 4, 2006 10:26 AM (GMT)
I notice a lot on this forum that people make stupid replies, and never give any reason as to why a person would win over another.
One such case I saw is in any sesshoumaru V.S (enter someone here) where most people (usually fangirls with "I love sesshy" in their usernames) just saying "sesshoumaru would win" yet not putting a reason as to WHY he would win, how, and what kind of advantages he has that would lead him to victory. it gets rather annoying trying to drill facts into someone's head when they are so obviously obsessed with a character that they think that the character will never lose despite obvious weaknesses.
That, ladies and gentlemen, is a fanboy/girl. I am making this guide in the simple hopes that people will argue things better and just not be so..biased with their opinions.
1. Always give reasons.
-
The basis of this reason: Simple, if you give people reasons, they will listen. do not just put that a certain character will win because you love that character. for example, if someone made a match with sesshoumaru fighting inuyasha, do not just go in and say "inuyasha would win, LAWLZ!" even though you have probably seen sesshoumaru wipe the floor with inuyasha's face several times throughout the series.
Say, for example: "I believe sesshoumaru would win because he has the power of the tenseiga, which revives him, therefore, he can never die unless totally incinerated." it gets really annoying trying to argue with someone when they put no reason behind their choices.
-
2. Gameplay V.S Story.
-
The basis of this reason: If you are pitting a video game character against a movie/anime/another game character, you should ALWAYS remember something: gameplay and story are two diffrent things. always go with the story when deciing things like this, and always remember that if you are putting a game character against a movie/anime character, that it is unfair, as gameplay elements usually tend to make the game characters invincible.
So say, if you pit Sora from kingdom hearts against yusuke from YuYu hakusho, do not just say "Sora would win cause when he is tired he'll use curaga" that is totally unfair and would make any game character automatically better than any anime/movie character since they will have everything. always and only argue storyline when doing something like this, it might flip the argument around.
-
3. No bias.
-
The basis of this reason: Fanboys and Fangirls. Geez, I really cannot count the times I have browsed into a topic here and heard something like "(enter random character) would win because he's hawt!" How beautiful or handsome a character is will not win him/her the fight, unless it's a beauty pageant. also, when arguing, don't just say this one person will win consistently, without putting any reason other than the fact that you are a huge fan of this person. no-one will take you seriously, and your opinion will become null and void, not to mention that overlooking characters weaknesses is blatantly ignorant and quite unfair.
-
4. No Dumb Matches.
-
The basis of this reason: Come on now, kagome V.S a dog? Stupid matches like that should never be posted on, let alone created. they are simply spam, and I wish that those threads were simply automatically ignored.
-
5. If you can't show me what you got, you can't participate!
-
The basis of this reason: If a character in a game/movie/anime has never fought or shown their strengths then they just can't participate in a topic battle. why? because people who could actually argue for this character are unable to because that character has never shown his/her/it's abilities. you can't exactly make a fair match like that, unless you are purposely looking to spam.
-
6. Do not put anyone against any Dragonball/Z/GT characters.
-
The basis for this reason: I don't need one. honestly, this show is crap and the characters are horribly overpowered. even the weakest enemy in Z can move at the speed of light, and clowns can self-destruct. any thread that puts DB/Z/GT characters against any other characters besides other DB/Z/GT characters automatically fails.
-
7. Time and place.
-
The basis for this reason: Before starting ANY topic, you have to say when it is taking place.
Example: You are putting Yusuke up against Hiei. Which yusuke and hiei? When they first meet? after the dark tournament? During the makai tournament? You have to say when it is or you can't really make an accurate reading of each person's power.
~
So there it is people. follow my guide and make nice tournament topics that you can actually have a nice, decent, unbiased debate in. ^__^ And remember, this guide was brought to you by a really random desicion.

I know, like I said, it was a RANDOM desicion, and it cured the boredom, I never expected anyone to listen.

I follow those rules! Including yours Pyro. I liked the rules very much. I have mostly the same beliefs as yours. One objection though. I believe you can put someone from a game with all of their gameplay abilities as long as you limit their abilities enough to make it fair. Like Sora from KH. If you specify right from the beggining that his Cure spells and summons were taken away then it would be fair enough wouldn't it? Also what if you try to put a rarely known character against someone. You said that you can't put someone who's power has not been shown up to fight but what if it's a character from a Japanese only manga that no one but five people know about?

I meant "not showing your power" as in never fighting.

I realize that. But not ever fighting and people never seeing you fight equal about the same right? If I'm the only one on the forums that know the strength and weaknesses of the character then how are we supposed to have a fair discussion?

Then just give people an accurate representation of that person's power.

Well, mostly people go by feats. Stuff they've seen what the charccter can do.
Example: Inuyasha kill hundreds of weak demons with one hit, but no stronger demons, therefore, most people will assume he cannot kill stronger demons with one attack.

stupid question but why are people making guidelines for this forum , if the people running the site worried about it then they would of posted rules for it. So why don't you just let people make their topics without listing guidelins that you think they should follow. And not wanting DB/Z/GT chars is rude to the DB/Z/GT fans, some people actully like the show. Just posting my opinion and won't reply if a agrument gets started over it.

most of the threads made here are pointless and stupid. they don't have enough information (e.g. :which level of naruto? chunin exams? 4 tailed?) for the characters. people will respond usually use this line:"Person X will win because i don't like the the other guy" or "Person Y will win. who's the other guy?". the most common one is "Person X wins".
That's it. That's all they post. no reasons why they chose the character or why they think that charactert can defeat the other.
People who start the threads should try to make the fight closest as possible (e.g: current Zoro vs current Kenshin or Chunin exam Naruto vs current Inuyasha). Some threads have characters so different in power it's not even funny(e.g: Kyubi vs Shippou or Demon Eyes Kyo vs Gaara)
the guidelines help people make good fun threads where we can discuss with others who's stronger and try to make others agree with you.
