James glanced at his watch feverishly. He shook his head quickly though, tapping his foot as he waited for the elevator. It came, and he was about to step in, but he noticed how packed it was. A man held his hand out, smiling. "Room for one more," he said, winking. James shook his head though. "I'll wait for the next one, thank-you." "Alright," the man said, shrugging as the doors closed. Another empty elevator came, and James used that one.
Upon arriving to his room, he noticed a hearse drive by. He didn't care too much though.
The next morning, James head out to get the morning paper. He looked at it and gasped, reading it.
And elevator crashed yesterday in the Apartment Plaza. Many people were killed, for the ropes had snapped, and the elevater box dropped, killing everyon on impact.
James stared wide-eyed, watching the hearse that drove by before him. It vanished around the corner, leaving James behind.
