Chapter 1, part 1

"Let go!" A teenager screamed. She was being help back by her brother. "Quawa, let go! Mom and Dad are in there still!"
"If I let you go, you'll die as well! Imia, listen. That fire will destroy everything I know! I don't want it to destroy you too." Quawa said, tears in his eyes.
"But... Mom and Dad will die." Imia whispered.
"I know, but there's nothing we can do." Quawa looked his sister in the eyes. "But we can still live on. Alright?"
Imia looked back into his eyes. Tears streamed down her cheeks. She fell to her knees, crying still.
Quawa knelt down beside her. "Alright." Then he hugged her.

A few hours later, Imia and Quawa were sitting on a bench with other people, from the palace, all of them wrapped in blankets.
As Imia pulled hers closer around herself, one of her parents guards came running up towards them. "Your Highness Iminaquawa, your Highness Imia, I have important news to tell you. It's about the fire." He said, panting slightly.
Imia looked up at him, but didn't say anything. Then Quawa stood up. "What is it?" He asked the guard.
"The fire, it was intentional. Someone started it." He explained, looking down.
Both the blankets around the siblings fell.
"What... but why? Why would someone do this!" Quawa yelled.

Imia bolted up in her bed. She was still in the same inn. She noticed that she was covered in sweat.
"It was a dream. Just a dream." She said quietly, then laid down again.
It took some time for her to get back to sleep, for the memories of her past kept playing through her mind.

Chapter 1, part 2

Imia woke up in the late morning. Getting dressed, Imia looked around for the large mirror in the room. Finding it, she looked at herself. She fixed her light blue dress, making it start. She out her up, grabbed her cap, then left the room.
Making her way through the lounge, she noticed a man staring at her. Imia returned the look briefly, then turned away and walked to a different table.
Sighing, the man called a waitress over. Imia looked at him while he did this. The waitress nodded, then walked over to Imia.
"This is from the young gentleman over there." The waitress said placing a note in front of Imia, then left.
I wonder what he wants with me. Imia thought.
Opening the letter, she saw one word on it. 'Cheers'. Looking up she saw a cup of water on the table.
Picking it up, Imia looked at the man again. He smiled at her, then lifted his cup.
Smiling in return, Imia lifted her own cup, the took a sip out of it.

After her breakfast, Imia left the inn for a walk. The streets of the town were rather large. Horses and carriages bustled past her.
I hope I don't get lost. Imia thought. It's really crowded here.
While she was walking, a group of three men started to follow her. Imia stopped a moment to look at a shop, then the men closed in on her.
"Well, I think she's lost. Wandering the streets of Duffer." One man said from behind her.
She turned around, then noticed that the two other men closed in on her sides. She had no escape.
"What do you want?" Imia demanded.
"I think we scared her, poor kitten. Don't worry, we won't hurt you." The same man said, smirking.
"I'm not a kitten!" she snapped.
"How about you come with us and go get a drink." A different man said.
"No thank you. I have to go now." She said. Imia turned, but one of the men grabbed her wrist.
"We said we wanted to take you for a drink!"
"Imia! Sister dear! Mother and I have been looking everywhere for you!" A male voice called.
The group turned to see who had said that. Imia gasped. It was the man from the Inn.
"If you'll excuse us, my sister and I have to leave." He said, taking her away from the men.
Stirring her through the city, he didn't look down at her once.
This is quite annoying! Men just keep popping out of nowhere, and make me do stuff! Imia thought.
"Let's sit." The man said.
Imia looked up at the man. She noticed something odd about his left eye.
"So," He said as they sat down. "How was your walk?" Imia laughed at that.
"Sir, if I may ask, what if your name?"
"It's Kazuto." He replied. "I would ask you for yours but I seem to already know it."
"You're very sarcastic." Imia said dryly.
"So it would seem." He said leaning back.
"How did you find out my name?" Imia asked.
"Snooping and a fat old inn keeper." Kazuto sighed. "now, I'm going to ask questions. Why on Earth are you in this idiotic town?"
"I'm looking for someone or something." Imia said.
"Or? Why not both?" Kazuto asked.
"Because I don't now what exactly I'm looking for." She explained.
"Well that it a problem. Alright why are looking for someone or something?"
"It's a long story."
"We have time." Kazuto smiled.
"Alright."

End of chapter one part two.

I'm updating finally! Go me, go me, go me, go me! Also, though I can't change the title to the topic, I have the actual title for the story now. It's called 'The God Amulets' Cheesy, I know.

Chapter 1, part 3

"Okay, I lived in the Ouminan Desert, in Glassand. My family was royalty there. My life was simple and quiet. I loved living there.
"But one day my mother, the queen, told me about special amulets for the element gods and how some were in the hands of humans. I didn't really understand at the time.
"A few years later, in fact this year, there was a great ball. There were so many people. Half way through the ball, my younger brother and I were by an oasis, when a guards came to tell us the palace was on fire. When we got there, half the palace was engulfed in flames." She stopped for a moment, then went on. "Once the fire was out, we found out my parents were dead. We also found a small pile how ashes in my mothers room, like there was a small pile of found. That was when we discovered the fire was intentional. But we had no idea how did it. Everyone loved my parents."
"Two days afterwards, I was at my parents' grave and I found a necklace there. It had belonged to my mother. After I took it, I started to be able to use water magic and heal.
"So that's it." Imia finished.
"That's worse then my story." Kazuto said.
"What's yours?"
"My parents kicked me out because I was being an ass." Kazuto smirked.
"An ass? You don't seem like one." Imia said.
"Ah, but you don't know me very well." Kazuto pointed out.
"True, which makes me wonder why I told you everything that I did."
"Funny isn't it?" Kazuto said.
"So you're not going to tell me?"
"No."
"But that's not fair! I'm probably never going to you again." Imia said.
"No, you'll see me around. But let's not worry about that now. I'll walk you back to the inn." Kazuto said getting up. Standing, he offered his arm to Imia.
Taking it, the two walked back to the inn in silence.

Imia woke up from her nap. She looked outside her window to see it was night. Great, now I won't be able to get any sleep later. She thought.
Sighing, Imia got out of her bed. Quickly she straightened up her clothes and hair and headed down to the lounge.

Meanwhile, Kazuto was sitting outside the inn. He was in the back court, sitting on one of the many benches there. He was thinking about Imia and her necklace.
"A necklace that grants one the power to heal and use water. It could be a god amulet. But that would be hard to believe." Kazuto murmured.
"Excuse me, but were you talking about the god amulets?" A voice beside him asked.
KAzuto jumped at the noise. "Who's there?" He demanded.
"Oh, just a priestess, walking through the garden." The voice said. A young woman, no more the twenty stepped out of the shadows. She had purple-red hair.
"Dear Lady, you shouldn't scare a grown man like that. You could hurt his dignity." Kazuto said, turning to face the women.
"Sorry sir. But, back to the amulets. Why would you talk about them?" She asked.
think I know someone who has one." Kazuto said. "And about how her life has been affected by it.
"that's a lot to be thinking about." The woman said. "If you fear for her, then why don't you take it from her. It would make her life easier."
"I couldn't do that. It was a gift."
"Listen, did you ever think that maybe she doesn't want the power?" After that, the woman left. Kazuto watched her leave.
Maybe she's right. Maybe Imia would be better off with- Kazuto stopped. He remembered something the woman had said. "Listen, did you ever think that maybe she doesn't want the power?" I never said if Imia was a girl or boy to the woman. How would she know? I didn't give any gender at all. Then Kazuto ran back to the inn.

Imia was staring off into a painting hanging in the lounge when Kazuto ran in.
"Kazuto! You almost gave me a heart attack. What's wrong?" Imia laughed.
"Imia! Thank Clitora you're alright. Come with me!" Kazuto said, pulling her out of her chair.
"Kazuto, what's wrong. You're scaring me." Imia shouted.
