There are certain things that should be kept in mind when RPing. Regulation is ideal when you roleplay in order to make it fun for everyone. There are certain 'violations' that can ruin the experience for everyone.
1. Spelling and Grammar-
This is one of the most common. When RPing, typing properly is a good idea. Saying 'wut' instead of 'what' isn't cool, or funny. It makes the typist look like they're either in the third grade or just newbies. When RPing, type as if it was a story intended to be published. Acronyms and l33tspeak don't belong in the RP section. It's fine anywhere else in small doses, but in any great amount it just gets annoying.
2. Method Consistency-
How you RP is very important. Don't RP one way and suddenly switch to the other. Stick to one and stick good. There are two most common methods of RPing. There's first person/ first person split, and then third person.
First person (When playing as yourself)-
*Enters the room and looks around* Hello everyone.
First person split (When playing as yourself and other characters)-
*Enters the room and looks around* Hello everyone.
X-Naut: Hello.
Third person-
Lord Grodus entered the room and looked around at the occupants.
"Hello everyone." He said in a low voice.
"Hello." A simple X-Naut replied.
3. Power.
This is quite possibly the most annoying. Overpowering makes everyone dislike you and your characters.
Follow these simple facts to avoid over powering.
-No one determines whether someone lives or dies except Death itself and God, neither of which should be played. Death may be played on certain occasions, as long as it's power is not abused. Death cannot take someone without reason. The person must die of other means. It is not wise to play as Death in any case.
Now...gods and goddesses are practical in some cases, but no, you can't just wave you hand and someone's dead.
Immortality is not an option, and loopholes are aggravating in any sense. You can't have your character be connected to reality. As in, your character dies and everything is destroyed. You cannot be a supreme god or goddess. You cannot control people unless they allow it. (Ask their permission in a PM).
In short, be practical and don't try to be better than everyone. You'll be flamed and everyone will hate you.
4. Compliance.
If your in a position that's inescapable, just deal with it. If you are presenting this position, give a little forewarning. Don't just have a bunch of tanks appear around them. Tanks have to drive up.
5. Common sense.
This sums most things up. Be realistic in interactions. No one is invincible. No one is all-powerful except God, and you're not God.
6. Restraint.
Simple enough. Give people a chance to react. If they're gone for a bit, make sure they don't have a bunch of pages to read when they get back. Have a little consideration.
7. Originality.
When making an RP, don't copy off someone else. If there's already an RP about it, play in that. Only if the RP has gotten out of hand and/or locked should it be remade.
8. Language.
You never know who's on the other end of the internet. It may be an 18 year old or in may be an 8 year old. This forum however tends to have many younger people. Please think of them before you go off like a rocket. Keep the language to a PG-13 level.
9. Censorship.
This shouldn't be needed at all but if by some crazy occurence your characters end up doing 'it' or some other related thing, don't describe it. Just say it simple. No one wants to know...well...I'm sure this day in age anyone does, but no one NEEDS to know. Keep it to yourself.
10. Background respect.
The purpose of posting a bio is to tell of someone's statistics and a bit of their history. If someone puts up a characters history, and it doesn't include your character, then your character was not part of it obviously, so don't act like they were.
11. Idea respect.
Someone invents something, or has an alien device, it's exclusive. You don't have it too. It was their idea or discover. Unless the player says otherwise, it's theirs. they have it, you don't. Deal with it.
12. Computer consideration.
THIS is a HUGE factor. Some people out there have really crummy computers, really crummy connections, and sometimes both. If you want to show an image put a link to it. DO NOT post it. It'll put a slow-down on someone's computer and may even crash it depending on the size. Same goes for signatures. My suggestion is keeping images out of it as much as possible. Small GIFs are fine, but I couldn't tell you how long it took to load a single page on my grandparents computer because of all the images in the signatures.

13. Emotional sensibility.
Simply put, not everything is a love saga. Don't try to make everyone love each other.
14. Spam avoidance
Quite often people ask questions right at the start of the RP. If you have a question, or a complaint, PM it to the creator of the RP. If you have to make an argument, do it in a PM. We don't want four pages of nothing but two people yakking at each other, it totally ruins the RP and makes the mood bad. If you have something to say to someone else in the RP, or the maker of the RP, do it in a PM and don't waste pages. If you havea question, read the first post to see if it's already answered.
15. Balance
RPing is fun when it goes right, but too many RPs at once can be stressful. Don't post five RPs in the same day, or join five RPs in the same day. It's easy to lose track and accidentally put the wrong post in the wrong RP.
16. Story Originality
Nothing infuriates me more than when I see an RP that the base story is exactly the same as mine. Same goes for characters. A proper RP should be made with your own ideas inspired by whatever story or show it's based off. Don't just give the exact same plotline as the show, because I'm sure most people would rather just watch the show itself than try to act out what's happening. The second aspect of originality is character. Unless it's a character fromt he show, actually have somethign that's NOT identical to something. As for pictures, well not everyone can draw, but still, try to choose an image that ISN'T everywhere. Don't get a picture of Cloud Strife and say it's some genin or saiyan. Don't go getting a picture of Tifa Lockheart and say it's Orochimaru's servant. Get an image of a character that isn't really in a show or game, but if you have to, at least get a minor character very few people know about.
17. Image Display
Here's an easy one people tend to mess up a lot. Post links, not the whole bloody image, and use some sort of host on which you have your own account, like photobucket. It's incredibly annoying to try to see someone's character pic and get that retarded 'Image hosted by tripod' nonsense, or be redirected to an entire bloody site. Direct linking to images also consumes said sites bandwidth and is very inconsiderate towards the person who has to pay for it. So please, use your own host such as a photobucket account.
Also, if you ever need any help learning to RP please PM myself, Fluffy Inu, or even ViviOrnitier(who wishes to help out, he is not required to help though). If you are reported to me or Fluffy Inu then we'll talk about it, review any recent posts, and figure out what to do. If your either inconsiderate or just bad at RPing then we'll sort the matter out.
