Last night, on the ABC show "Miricle Workers" they aired a segment about DBS (deep brain stimulation.) Although the patrient was a 19 yr old girl who suffers from a severe form of Tourette Syndrome, this is the same treatment used in clinical trails in epilepsy. This was the most compelling story about how this young lady suffered from her crippling disorder and right before your eyes, the doctor adjusted the DBS and stopped her tics/vocalizations!

This show gave the audience a fairly decent rendition of what a patient must go through for this type of treatment. It is highly invasive, but the results were awsome and immediate.

ABC has video clips available to watch on their website Not only that, there is the Bios and contacts for Dr.Donald E. Richardson, M.D.

Most impressive!

What an incredible show! :Great!:

I saw the show, and loved it. I wish somebody could promise me that would work for me, I would do it in a minute.
She was a beautiful girl and it was so nice to see a wonderful out come.

Edited to say,
I just read Dr. Richardson Bio and he has never done anything with epilepsy. Even though he is a sought after neurosurgeon, I guess I just thought that was interesting.
