Title: Epilepsy sites under attack!!!

Birdbomb - March 22, 2008 07:15 PM (GMT)
Script kitties are attacking the NSE boards posting flashing images and other offensive $hit. Please stay off the site until Jeanette and Dave can clean it up. Jeanette is there now but one of these little bastards is being pretty active.

No need to worry about them posting here. I have several safeguards in place and that ain't gonna happen!

Birdbomb - March 23, 2008 04:21 AM (GMT)
The EFA message boards have also been part of this raid. They are trashed with flashing images and graphic porn.

IF YOU ARE PHOTOSENSITIVE TAKE EXTRA PRECAUTIONS! BEWARE!!

These raids are going to be happening all weekend and to other epilepsy sites as well.

Birdbomb - March 23, 2008 10:28 AM (GMT)
DO NOT CLICK ON ANY LINKS AT THE EFA. Wait until it's cleaned up. These hackers have access to the ad ministration control panel and have corrupted, accounts, threads and have access to emails, pm and PASSWORDS.

If you click on a link it will lock up your computer and they may possibley have keylogger programs running. NOT good!

Change your password to you email account and to the these sites at the very least.

Donna,

Thank you SO much for the email warning.
If I hadn't seen that I would have been clicking all over the message boards trying to figure out what was going on.

Thanks again!

-Wendy

Birdbomb - March 23, 2008 05:13 PM (GMT)
Some of my friends have made the mistake of clicking on those threads and ended up with seizures. This is just sickening to me to think someone gets their jollies doing this sort of thing.

Even lloking at the on-line list was a danger. They used flashing images as avatars! Sick bastards.

Birdbomb - March 23, 2008 08:40 PM (GMT)
These idiots plan this. They do it for fun and brag about it.
In everyone's best interest, you should update and run your virius protection and then change your passwords to the forums.

Do not use the same password in every forum.
Create a password using both lower and upper case letters, symbols and numbers. Avoid using * it's considered a "wild card". Do not use words. Create a sentence and use the first or letter of each word.
example ; My dog is a purple flower = m$DI84p%F

Write down your passwords in a small notebook. Don't rely on memory

Change your password to your email account too, that is a back door in.

Better be safe than sorry.

wendy1966 - March 24, 2008 01:43 AM (GMT)
I thought it was better but they are still having problems.

There has to be a special circle in hell for people who find this amusing.

kwgreulich - March 25, 2008 06:19 PM (GMT)
What is an NSE board?

Birdbomb - March 25, 2008 06:23 PM (GMT)
National Society for Epilepsy (NSE)

They are in England. Their forums are still off-line but the EFA has come back all nice and clean.

Word of advice, change your password there.

labrat - March 25, 2008 07:27 PM (GMT)
They should burn in hell!!!!

Andrew - March 26, 2008 09:36 AM (GMT)
Thanks for that BB. I'd wondered why the NSE forum website was currently unavailable. These hackers think it's fun to cause people to have seizures. They'd think again if they suffered from epilepsy.

... They'd think again if they suffered from epilepsy.

That presupposes that they were thinking in the first place. :ROFLMAO:

Burn in Hell is best your going to get for them. It is the World Wide Web and there is no jurisdiction on them anywhere. It doesn't matter where they are at.

Ok some recomendations for you on your PC. If you have Vista dump Symantec and get NOD32, if you have XP, add Xosoft and Reg Cure. It will cost you a few bucks, and I know where is this nut coming from.

I play with a whole different group of people. If you think the Government grabed Vista as soon as it hit the market your wrong. NOD32 was one of the things that finally protected it.

Xosoft is a Spyware protector, and Reg Cure will clean out all the garbage that was not protected. All can be found on Google. Under there names Like type Nod32, then Reg Cure Registy Cleaner. Reg Cure use to send you to XoSoft if you wanted. They did cost about $50.00 a piece. Sorry about the prices gang. I know you have Symantec(or called Norton). Well after 98 it started going in the garbage.

Good Luck

I think that is just awful! If anyone needs a good protection program it is: P-cillin or another name it has is: Internet Security, it is under Trend Micro. It is powered by PC-cillin Engine. It is this year 2008 update. It is available at Wal-Mart.

It is one of the better protection programs out there. We probably won't change this protection to any other provider.

I hope this helps people.

Sincerely,
Bonnie

I just logged on and was pleased to see things were working again. I did notice that a number of the topics have disappeared - but these seem mainly to be in the Jokes section, which is no great loss really.

Birdbomb - March 28, 2008 04:09 PM (GMT)
I wish they would allow Dave and Jeanette more Moderating freedom. These are 2 very loved and trusted people. They don't show favorites or give preferential. Gee, how long have they been Mods? It's not likely they would do damage.

Circumstantial evidence suggests the attack was the work of members of Anonymous, an informal collective of griefers best known for their recent war on the Church of Scientology. The first flurry of posts on the epilepsy forum referenced the site EBaumsWorld, which is much hated by Anonymous.

Actually this was an offshoot group of scriptkitties who laid blame to EBAUM'S World.

I am glad this has seen some type of press release. These little crotch fruits have been hacking at E sites off and on for months.

The press seems to have picked this up like crazy. Besides the article in Wired, it has been on CBS, fox, Realtech, techherald and who knows how many other computer tech articles. Some new hacker wannabes pop up at EFA every day. They have disabled their avatars, emoticons and installed filters that block out part of peoples names but server side security seems to be lacking. I did make a suggestion once but another member informed me I was not to talk about it. Allrighty then.

Good to see folks on this site are informed and up to date.
Oh.. I am Pam.. registered here probably close to 3 years ago when I first got the VNS but have no clue what name or e mail I used so now I am new again.

:D

Bernard - April 3, 2008 06:41 PM (GMT)
Yes, Birdbomb has had some first hand experience fighting off such shenanigans in the past. This site doesn't have open registration, so its not likely to be a target for future hijinks.

Birdbomb - April 3, 2008 09:07 PM (GMT)
Welcome back Pam!

I don't understand why the other sites are afraid to discuss this. These were unwarranted attacks that effected everyone. I equate this to personal violation, maybe not as bad as say, rape but more like someone breaking into your car. It pisses you off and drives you nuts thinking about it.

Being in the middle of one of these raids is real freaky too. These little boys will pm whoever they see on-line.

Well being the optimist that I am, I hope just one person left themselves open when they did the hacking since the FBI is involved. This could be a precedent setting court case if they can find just one person who did the hacking.

Thanks for all the sites and such you have found regarding this attack, BB. They have been very interesting, but at the same time so disgusting that people are so cruel to deliberately do this just for the fun of it. I am sure each time the media mentions it, the hackers are getting more and more confident in their own twisted way and I really doubt this will be the last time this happens until some people are held responsible for their actions.

Hugs,
Cindy

Well the way I see it all,
it all backfired, they wanted fun
and thought they were getting it
and in turn they got squashed
when the EFA used them at
their OWN EXPENSE for media
gain .....

TO BRING FORTH EPILEPSY AWARENESS!

I'm sure they're now looking
like this now:

:dribble2: :dribble2:

and wished they hadn't done that.
