Title: Feedback would be great
Description: Pre-surgical jitters

Well, last year I told the neurosurgeon "no" to cutting my head open because the spouse & I were trying for a baby. Well, now he's 5 months old, I just saw the surgeon and I'm suppose to go back the first week of June for one week.... get taken off my scripts, given scripts that I've known to sz on & things that are active triggers and the such to locate where to go in and do surgery. I'm terrified about the whole idea. But since my sz are daily, and I can't work or drive at this point it's not like things can get worse. I really do hope all goes well and after surgery I can be an advocate for others and educate the dummies who are suppose to know something. (for example, Uncle Sam, who told me before I was married & when I had to stop working that E is something that rectifies itself in 6 months time & isn't a permanent condition....hello,... uhm,... almost 40 years and counting). I'm not one to normally look for shoulders to cry on. But, my immediate family won't talk to me because I've stigmatized them with my E, and my in-laws are worse than the national enquirer about my health and that I have no right to be watching our son while the other half's off at work all day. Can anyone tell me what the pre-surgical candid camera senario is going to be like and what to expect when they do the actually surgery. I'm so scared right now and have nowhere to vent. Maybe someone here who's been through it or knows the routine can give me some insights before next month gets here. Thanks, with much appreciation, Zapped!

There are a few who have been thru brain surgery here, but not I. It's amazing what we can teach our doctors about Epilepsy.
Congrats on the baby!
Aren't they a joy?

Oh wow, great to hear from you ZC. Congrats on the baby.
You might get a better response to your questions about pre-surgery screening/routines at CWE or the EFA.

Dear Zapped,
Hello & :Welcome: ,
I would also like to congrats you on your baby. They are a lot of work, but a great joy to have.
First of all I am not clear on what surgery you are having. If I were you, I would write all my questions down about the surgery. I would call the surgeons office and ask to talk to someone or your doctor. It is very scary waiting to have surgery, and facing the unknown.
I hope all goes well. When you go into the hospital; you could ask your questions then too. As for your relatives, I wouldn't worry about them. They have NO right to judge someone for a condition. Unless someone has walked in your shoes, they have NO idea what your life has been like.
I understand what you said; you are having brain surgery. But exactly what are they are going to do? If you can give more information about the surgery, I may have some answers for you. I would be very fearful & anxious if it were me. If you said you weren't fearful, I would more concerned about you.
Hugs,
Bonnie :hbeat:

Ask away, what do you want to know about the surgery? I had it done 15 years ago.
It didn't work for me, but I would do it again in a minute if they told me it would work this time.
