Title: WADA testing
Description: What should I expect

Well, I spent a week in an EMU for pre-surgical testing. I really don't know what they saw. They told me to hit the button even if I just got an aura, and that's all that I had the whole time I was there was auras. :So Sad: The two days before I got there I was having catamenials through the roof. Hubby informs me I was having back to back CPs where I walk around cooking, cleaning, etc. while in zombie mode and then after the fact don't know I did anything. From just the auras I had they said surgery's out because they saw things on both sides of the brain. So, next month I go back for the WADA testing. It was explained to me what they'll do, but, the idea of the testing scares me. :(: Can anyone tell me first hand what the testing's like?

I'm not sure why they are doing the WADA test if they are seeing activity from both sides? You may want to ask them that.
If surgery is out of the question, which is would be; if you seizure from both sides.
Why the WADA test?

I told them that my memory was going out the window too. (I can watch a movie & a week later I don't remember watching it and it's like I see it for the first time) So, I had them do a neuropsych test, wondering if the memory loss is from AEDs or from too many sz). Well, the gal who did the neuropsych and the head neurologist said that it was standard procedure to do the WADA to confirm that there was brain damage/sz activity on both sides of the brain. They said that people who stay in the EMU and don't have activity on both sides don't have the WADA because they know for sure where the sz are coming from. But, if they see things from both sides, they do the WADA to confirm that there are problems on both sides, thus ruling out for certain surgery as an option. That's the way it was explained to me (???)

That's not how I understand it at all. Very few people, I don't think any ( could be wrong ) people have surgery without a WADA test. What the test does is it tests what part of your brain controls what things. i.e. speech, motor skills, eye site, memory etc.
They put a catheter into your hip, give you really good drugs
It is very interesting but I'm still not understanding why you need it.
This explains it here.

Sorry I asked.
Fact 1: they said in the EMU sz coming from both sides
Fact 2: They have me scheduled for a WADA test next month
I won't ask any more Qs at this site.

You're welcome to ask questions, but people can only relate from their own experience.

I will chalk up ZC answer as being post-ictal as NO ONE was rude or nasty to her.
Sometimes people in their fustrations for answers get a bit abrupt when they don't hear what they want to hear. ZC has be here off and on for a few years but really only shows up when she has problems.
If she was just being snotty then it's not fair to take out her fustrations on my staff and any other members when all they are attemping to do is help. That and $3 will get you a cup of coffee and a warning.
I guess if she lives up to her last statement, then that just proves a childish, self-centered attitude....someone who is not concerned with helping others, just getting what that can get.
Pity, really :So Sad:
I rather liked ZC.

I really am sorry, I didn't mean to upset anybody.
Like B.B said I really like ZC and I'm really only going by my own experiences, and what I've been told and read.
