What do you take for panic attacks? I have Xanax, but sometimes it takes several doses to make it go away. Buspar did not work for me in the past. It seems I get this in the afternoon or evening. Maybe it's because I'm having trouble sleeping at times.
I'm not ranting here, just asking a question. Sometimes they last an hour :So Sad: , before going away.
I told my medicine lady about them and not sleeping at times, but she told me what to do about that.
Sincerely,
Bonnie

Busbar didn't work for me. I take Xanax. If you let it melt under your tongue it works faster.

Dear Labrat,
Thank you for writing me, and your tip. Xanax tastes awful though doesn't it?
Sincerely,
Bonnie

Bonnie,
I have had horrible panic attacks with my depression in the past. I noticed a difference with the VNS helping, although I'm not too sure now since its off and I still don't have the anxiety- so maybe its the meds I'm on. I've taken anxiety meds alone, and they really did nothing for me, but in conjunction the meds seem to work well. I can't take Xanax because it puts me to sleep. Right now I take Effexor, Lamictal,Seroquel,Ativan, and Buspar. Everyone is different, so I hope you will find something that works for you.

Dear Mary,
Yes, I can relate. My panic attacks at work were severe when my depression started. The Xanax does work, I'll have to try Labrat's suggestion. I also have Klonopin, which I take on an as needed basis. I took one today at 1330, but I did sleep last night, and that seems to help prevent them from occuring.
Today, I've been ok. But I slept last night and took a Klonopin earlier this afternoon. My pdoc said I could all the Klonopin at night or twice per day. I usually don't have panic attacks it's just been going on the last two weeks. I think too much exercise, being in the sun and dehydration could be a factor too. Also if you have not eaten much; that can start to feel like a panic attack too.
I'll be ok. Thanks for writing.
Sincerely,
Bonnie

I take Clonazepam 0.5 MG when I am having a panic attack, or when I am really
stressed out. I take it at night sometimes, because I have nocturnal panic attacks
also. (I wake up with my heart racing and I am so frightened, don't know why)
I don't take it every day. Sometimes it may be only once a week.

There is a new drug out for severe anxiety attacks. It is called Xanax XR (extended release) you cannot crush extended release drugs; it could be very dangerous. But this is available for those who panic attacks are frequent & disabling. I don't I need this yet, but someone on another board mentioned it; she takes it as her anxiety attacks would occur daily and are severe.
Sincerely,
Bonnie
