Hi Everyone,

While this part of the forum is about VNS Studies/Reports/Links, I thought you might be interested in seeing the new neurostimulator that is on the market.

I found out about this today from a friend who has a family member that is in a blind study where 2 out of 3 will be activated, while the 3rd will not be activated until the 6th month. This is a year long study and is for deep brain stimulation by implanting micro-fibers into the white matter of the brain which are related to emotions and feelings.

Looks like Cyberonics has some competition out there that has been approved for research for depression! I haven't read that much about it yet but thought it was worthy of passing along to anyone who might be interested or just curious about what else is out there. OMG! A whole new batch of hopefuls are in for a major roller coaster ride.

I've spoken to two people who had DBS implanted for severe essential tremor. Both had some initial improvement, but the benefits were short lived.

I will be interested to see how this study goes.
