[SIZE=7][COLOR=blue]This is a theory I put forward. With all the electrical garbage we have
floating around now, you will probably have to have your VNS reset at
least one time while it is in you. This is why I say that. It is
actually a form of a computer like item and computer type items will not
continuously work without a problem.
Let's look on the realistic side. How many times do you have to
reset your home computer's Wireless network? Probably about four times
a year. Home many times do you have to rest your Cable Box? Probably
once or twice a year or if you have Satellite it resets every time the
weather goes bad. These are common types of computer like items that
have been around for years but still need to be reset because they, for
no reason lock up, malfunction or quit receiving the appropriate signal.
They are not the only ones that need reset. There are others
worldwide, but these are ones we can all associate with. I'm sure if we
did a lot of digging we could find all sorts of computer items like in
cars, space crafts, hospitals and all sorts of other places that have
sensitive equipment.
Since these computer like items need to be reset it makes common
sense that there are others too. Why do we think that our VNS is so
special that it would never have to be reset?
When I say reset I don’t mean drop back to zero and start over. There are a couple of ways I know of to reset something. 1. Turn something off until the information drains out of it and restart it, and 2. Drop it back down to its last functioning parameters if it was set wrong or overloaded. Yes, I also believe a doctor is going to have to, or should do it too. Usually, or hopefully your doctor says to you when they do the changes to your VNS they say to you “If you have any problems contact me”.

Mike, medical devises are engineered differently with more specific fault tolerances than consumer devices. They are designed to run without rebooting like nucular power plants and DOD military hardware, because if they screwed up, many people would die. What you are describing is software issues in consumer grade equipment, if the pc, satellite or cable box screws up no one would die.
VNS is a very simple device. It's like a fancy watch, it keeps "time" and based on the program, will send a stimulation. There is software controlling it, but more like firmware (it's part of the hardware like the bios, compared to the OS and other operating software programs).

HHHMMM...very educating...

Oh, I had some help with the explaination from some very informative individuals. I'll not reveil my sources.... :spiteful:
