I have personally talked to Dr. Eric Kossoff at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland and Johns Hopkins Hospital is THE only hospital in the United States actually treating patients with the Atkins for Epilespy diet. They treat adults of all ages, some teenagers and childrens with all types of seizure disorders who cannot tolerate the ketogenic diet or who have behavior issues and cannot be admitted into the hospital to start the ketogenic diet or cannot follow the much stricter ketogenic diet.
If you click onto the link that Birdbomb posted above it has the info you need to contact them if you are interested in the Atkins for Epilespy diet. He also told me that out of several tests they have done so far, the Atkins for Epilespy diet shows that it can work as well as the ketogenic diet (1/3 became totally seizure free and medication free, 1/3 it controlled the seizures by at least 50% to 90% and the other 1/3 it didn't help at all). It might be worth a try if your seizures aren't controlled very well or the side effects of the meds aren't tolerated very well.
There is a yahoo Atkins for Epilepsy email list too. To subscribe go to: www.atkins4seizures-subscribe@yahoogroups.com
