The Intercept Epilepsy Control System and the NeuroPace are two new implant devices for epilepsy that are currently in the testing phase.

The big difference between these systems and the VNS is that these systems implant electrodes directly into the brain.

I don't know how many Intercept devices there are, but it has been reported that there are less than 60 NeuroPace devices currently in use.

The websites for these devices are:

NeuroPace

The current NeuroPace research study is no longer open for enrollment. However, NeuroPace will be launching the next study soon. Information about the next study will be posted at:

http://www.neuropace.com/trials/overview.html

in the near future - please check back for an update. If you are interested in participating, you can contact NeuroPace directly for additional information

The Intercept Epilepsy Control System research studies are listed on their site:

Anybody interested in participating in the Intercept studies should contact the institutions conducting the studies directly.
