Description: Mr. Gannon is probably one of the most laidback individuals you’ll ever meet. At a rather average height of 5’9”, Finn isn’t quite the intimidating type. His face is a little long, yet square in shape. His hair comes halfway down his neck, and is a rich mixture of deep brown, golden auburn, and black. Thick black eyebrows shadow his calm eyes, which are a dark brown. He usually wears a small goatee and thin mustache, both of which are black. His nose is long, straight, and razor thin. Finn’s jaw is strong, but understated. His cheeks are slightly sunken in, giving his face a generally thin, composed appearance. He has small, heart shaped lips that are usually curled up in a small smirk.

His body is thin, toned, and tan. His mother was a physical therapist, so the entire family always ate healthily and stayed fit. Old habits die hard, and Finneus, to this day, will rarely by anything that isn’t organic or otherwise healthy. His legs aren’t particularly long, but he still has a very proportionate appearance. His hands are long, thin, and very dextile, from playing piano most of his life and using computers daily for work and pleasure. His arms are muscular from lugging film and camera equipment around for 20 years, and his legs are strong from jogging every now and then.

His clothing style is professional, but unique and casual. He often wears khaki pants, corduroys, jeans, and cargos. Rarely will he ever wear slacks, as he doesn’t like his look in them. His shirts are most often button downs, collared polos, or sweaters. While not exactly “Carlton Banks” nerdy, he makes the upright clothing his own, by wearing the sleeves of his shirts rolled to his elbows, or the shirt untucked under a sweater vest. He pulls off “Preppy/bohemian” very well. Rarely will you ever see him in a t shirt or tennis shoes, just because he’s not comfortable in them. He often wears a Claddaugh ring on his right hand, supporting his heritage. He was born in Edinburgh, and to this day has a sophisticated and unique Scottish accent.

Personality: Finneus is a very kind man who has seen enough trouble in his life to understand the necessity for good humor and lightheartedness. He doesn’t take anything too seriously, but still has the ability to discern was requires a more serious approach. It takes a lot to get him mad, but one of his main set offs is when people refuse to listen to him. He comes from the school of learning that is someone is speaking to you, you respect them and listen. So if you’re caught not paying attention to him in class, be prepared to have to consequences. While his lessons are rarely dull, there are times when even something as fun as photography and filmmaking can get a little repetitive, such as learning how to use something, or learning different camera angles. But in Finn Gannon’s mind, this just means you should listen harder.

One of his joys in life is his 8 year old daughter, Juliet. Her mother has full custody and they both live in Scotland, so Finn only gets to see his little Jule during Christmas, Easter, and her birthday. He’d love to have custody of her, but he can understand how, with his teaching schedule and her age, she is truly in a better environment with her mother Jamie, who’s a hair and makeup stylist in Glasgow. It saddens him to realize that even if Juliet could choose, she would probably choose her mother. Finneus lives off of his moderate teaching salary and the small freelance photography fees he picks up. Jamie is a very well to do stylist, whose services bring in much more of a bankroll than what Finn’s do. His Jule has a very cushiony life over in Scotland, and he wishes he could do more for her.

Finn has a strong affiliation with people with a creative eye, whether it be artists, musicians, actors, or designers. They constantly impress him, and he is very comfortable around them. They see the world as he sees it, be it through the lens of a camera or through a painter’s easel. Mr. Gannon has had many enlightening and thought provoking conversations with students like this.

History: Finneus Liam Gannon was born on October 8th, 1963 to Laralynne and Kennedy Gannon. Mr. Gannon Sr. was a freelance photographer, who snapped everything from family portraits to nature shots, and his wife was a physical therapist, aiding those who’d been in debilitating accidents. Kennedy had made quite a living for his family, as had Laralynne. Finn grew up comfortably, in a spacious house, with relative luxury.

At the age of 5 he was enrolled in a small private school, where he was a top student in almost every subject. He excelled at academics, and enjoyed them. Yet his kindness and sweetness got him a lot of friends. He knew he was lucky to be smart, good at school, and popular, and he valued that. He knew he was lucky.

And then came puberty. Popularity couldn’t be won by being the only one with the balls to say “Thank you” or “Please”. You had to have looks, and moves, and skills to be popular in high school. He had the looks, sure. Skills, why not? He was a talented artist and photographer. But the moves? Not so much. He was one of those dreaded nerdy kids. Gorgeous, maybe. But unless you had an interest hooking up with everyone and they’re mother and then partying and boozing every weekend, you were definitely not popular. So Finn was pushed the back of society with the freaks, geeks, and other rejects. He didn’t mind though. He wasn’t much of a ladies man; never had been. He didn’t need people’s approval to be comfortable with himself. So he flew through high school on a cushiony 4.2 grade average, thanks to extra credit, adjusted honors courses, and AP.

Graduation. He got a black, ’67 Chevy Impala, and probably $10,000 worth of new film and camera equipment. That’s what he went to college for. After 5 years of frat parties, all-nighters, and a two month field trip to Brazil, Finneus graduated with his Master’s degree in Photography and Media Editing. He managed to get a few odd jobs teaching small electives classes in high schools and personal classes in a spare classroom at a local elementary school. He made a modest living off of this, and one of his students was Jamie Lucas. She was, in a world, beautiful. Shoulder blade length, curly blonde hair, doe brown eyes, hourglass figure, and perfectly flawless skin. He fell head over heels, and they dated. After two years, Finn proposed, and she agreed. They were married for 3 and half years, and in that time they moved to the United States. More opportunity, Finn said, for his photography, and her hairdressing. Soon Jamie announced that she was pregnant, and 9 months later, Juliet Claire Gannon was born. But unfortunately, when Jule was 4 years old, Jamie and Finn hit trouble. See, Finn was having a hard time holding a steady job, and Jamie didn’t feel comfortable finding a job with Juliet so young. This led to months of arguing, and finally Jamie filed for divorce.

The former Mrs. Gannon moved back to Glasgow with the now 5 year old Juliet, leaving Finneus in the US. He is 42, almost 43, and is now the professor of Media Arts and Photography at Waverly, and is well liked. He was a laid back, understanding demeanor as a teacher, but also a discipline that keeps any student of his in line. He’s worked on campus now for a little over 3 years, and though new, is making a huge impact on every student that goes through his doors.
