The administration gets their report card, finding out their approval rating through the use of a phone survey, everyone guesses that they will stay where they are or drop a few points, except CJ who says they will gain five points.

TOBY Since when are you an expert on language? C.J. In polling models? TOBY Okay. C.J.1993. Since when are you an uptight pain in the ass? TOBY Since long before that.

The results of the poll come in and C.J. gives them to the President and her worried colleagues.
| QUOTE |
I was wrong. We went up nine points. |
Laurie graduates from Law School, Toby tells Sam that he can’t go to see her graduate as the Republicans know that he is friends with a call girl, they just need proof. He meets her after the graduation and is photographed giving her a present.
Bartlet starts a merry – go – round of ambassadors, starting with the one for the Federated States of Micronesia [apparently there is such a place!?] so they can promote one of the people on the FEC who is for soft money to an ambassadorship bumbing people up a space for the President to move the Ambassador to Paraguay, Ken Cochran [who Charlie caddied for while he was a member of a all white club]who is having an affair with the daughter of the Bulgarian Prime Minister
Things we learn because of the West Wing
| QUOTE |
GINGER Bonnie wanted to know why it takes 48 hours. SAM We need 1500 responses. BONNIE It takes 30 people, 48 hours to make 1500 calls? SAM It takes them about 12 hours to make 1500 calls. We need 1500 responses, which means we need to make 6000 calls.
BONNIE Only 1 in 4 people don’t hang up? SAM That’s if you’re lucky.

So now you know!
Joey and Josh.
They argue about English as the national language. Joey tells Josh to stop shouting at her.
| QUOTE |
JOSH How the hell do you know if I’m raising my voice to you?

She also answers one of his questions by blowing a rasberry!
Margaret rocks!
| QUOTE |
MARGARET Want to hear a joke?
LEO Uh... Okay.
MARGARET You know why they only eat one egg for breakfast in France?
LEO Why?
MARGARET ‘Cause in France, one egg is un oeuf
|
I also love the it when she walks into Leo’s office to tell her that Barry Haskill is there, and he tells her to wait, she stands around and eventually says
| QUOTE |
Okay. [waits a little] It feels weird not doing anything.’

Bless her!
The title of the episode
There are lies, damn lies - and statistics.’ attributed to Mark Twain although some historians argue that the line was taken from Benjamin Disraeli.
Thank you Sam!!

SAM I popped Mandy with my tranquilizer gun. She’s doing fine.

Things that don’t make sense:
C.J.The London Daily Mirror. They paid a waitress friend of hers $50,000 to set it up and confirm that she was a call girl.
Why would a paper in the UK have the story, not the New York Times? Or any American paper come to think of it?
| QUOTE |
BARTLET You might also want to point out to her that she probably has a cause of action against the paper
|
Why? All the reporter did is take a photographer, and Bartlet is an economics Professor, why is he of all people giving Sam legal advice?
Bartlet says that if she passes the bar exam the Attorney General will personally see to it that she is admitted to the bar, surely this is an illegal demonstration of grace and favour?
The G7 is referred to again, it should be the G8.
The stuff Bartlet teaches us
| QUOTE |
It’s actually 607 small islands in the South Pacific. Interestingly, while its total land mass is only 270 square miles, it occupies more than a million square miles of the Pacific Ocean. Population is 127,000 and the U.S. Embassy is located in the state of Pohnpei and not, as many people believe, on the island of Yap.

Thought of the episode
| QUOTE |
BARTLET It’s nice when we can do something for prostitutes once in a while, isn’t it? |
| QUOTE (ama @ Mar 13 2005, 05:37 PM) |
| QUOTE | The G7 is referred to again, it should be the G8.

|
The Group of Seven (or G7) was a coalition of the major industrial democracies: the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, and the United States (the original G6 which met the first time in 1975) and Canada which joined in 1976. The G7 was then superseded in 1998 by the addition of Russia, which created the G8.
As life in the West Wing begins in 1998, the G7 might still have been around, although we now know it as the G8.
Trivia: Laurie's friend Janine in this episode is played by Reiko Aylesworth, who would later appear as Michelle Dessler in 24.
And apparently Michelle could be returning to '24' in the near future. You heard it here first.
Yes, I don't see how that is trivia of The West Wing in any way... if anything it's a spotting of a secondary character on another show... but okay.
--------------------------------------------Now to a rant about FOX-------------------------------------------
I hate the show '24!' I hate it with a passion... it's FOX's try at shows like TWW... they also have an 'ER' now, called 'HOUSE,' which I also hate. They tried to copy 'Extreme Makeover: Home Edition' with 'Renovate My Family.' They copied 'Supernanny' with 'Nanny 911.' They copied 'The Simple Life' from MTV's 'Viva La Bam' and\or 'The Osbournes' (Two of the best shows of their kind!).' The only shows they have that aren't copied, craptacularly, from another network are 'The Simpsons' (wonderful show!), 'That 70's Show,' 'King of the Hill,' 'Malcolm in the Middle,' and 'American Idol.' They have only 5 original shows.
