Title: Is Bartlet too busy?
Description: Bartlet and the many things he does.

Don't you think that Bartlet is a bit too busy... I mean if the presidents of old had enough time to be with the movie stars and that one really ugly intern then it seems that they have a bit more free time than seen on the show.

But seriously, I think Bartlet is realistically a bit to busy on the show. Now, I know that this is because it is a TV show... but still, I'd like to see a show where there isn't anything or much to do... and POTUS stays at his desk bored to tears. I could see the line now that Bartlet would use with his dry sense of humor:

QUOTE
Man I'm bored here, Leo... can't we blow the heck outta something now?  I mean, there has to be a country we don't like that we could get away with bombing.

BTW: Just a thought... could this be the reason behind the Iraqi war!?

I don't know, he always looks busy, but he always seems to find ways to bore his staff with useless trivia, otherwise we would never know about the 14 uses of grammar, or the population of the federated states of microneaisa?

Good point. ;-) Very good point... but the bad part is... I knew a lot of his "useless trivia" b4 I heard it on TWW from him... That's... kinda... sad...

I would like to think that Bartlet is the kind of guy that would always make sure he had something to do. So if his schedule clears up I'm sure that there is some pet project or something the First Lady has been harping him about to do. :D

He had time to take a picture with a goat named ronney. Plus the show follows a certain chronology but isn't neccessarily moving from minute to minute. soemtimes hours passs between scenes, i would like to think there is just as much governing going on there as there is on the screen.

I am not sure who suggested this and I know its meant humorously, and I know the first amendmant

and no that is not the why of the war in Iraq.

the war in Iraq is taking place becuase of the things sudam was doing to his people and the support he was lending to various organizations that dont particualarly like the fact we have sided with Isreal. Also they have oil. we like oil.

Puts me in mind of a nother great natiion rome who conquered half the known world becuase its populace was fightning over grain. There grain rescources had become depleted and to stymie the decline and decay of their society the took what they needed. This was durning the rule of Julius Gaius Ceasr, c 57bc eventually the conquerred through the process of assimilation and time melded into roman society.. Except the slaves, adn the gallic rebellion some years later.
its the some a the more problematic moral responsibilites associated with gorverning a people. a people depending on their leaders, a people who live and die with their leaders decisions.
In my humble opinion.
It sucks. people have died and will continue to die. some of which we all might possibly know. having tried thrice times to join the service and refused i understand the toll enacted. still a far greater price to see the collapse of our systems and the eventual subjugation of our people. thnk not for a moment if we are weak advantage will not be taken.
I think it is in poor taste to suggest that any war is created for sport or from boredom.
Nalar In Reverse is signing out.

No need to take it so seriously, I read it as a joke. Perhaps I was the only one, though. :P

Well first of all, I said it -- secondly it was a joke. I rather like the pseudo-quote myself :P

It is all gravy, please don't take any offense. It is just a hot topic around here. I live not far Fort Bragg. I grew up so close to the atrillery ranges that during manuevers the house would shake. We were hunting one night down on our land, we were just chilling by the fire and about five or six special ops trainees walked into tour camp site. They had been dropped out of an air plane over a large expanse of wooded land the locals let the military use fro orienteering training. We were just sitting there drinking a few beers and in the walk. They were totally confused. It is still a funny memory for us.
So I hope you can see in a place as close as this and with as many friends as I have fighting this war it is something i take very serious.

Like I said no offense meant.

peace

No offense taken lol. The war is worth it if only one person has greater freedom as a result. If only one little girl can grow up without fear and become anything she wants to be... it is worth it. The soldiers know that -- that's why they are there. They're not there fighting for our freedom, but for the little children there that will have a better life as a result of their sacrifice. That, in turn, will only strengthen our freedom.

That’s why they are there. That’s why my friends are there… my family. That’s why my best-friend came home covered in an American flag. He gave up everything. Not for us, but for them. For there fear. We can’t forget that. It is very real and very serious.

But even my friend made light of it… the only thing that could be done at the time.
