Presumably shooting of series 7 must have been almost finished when John Spencer sadly passed on. Therefore there is the opportunity perhaps for another one of WW's annoying final episode cliffhangers with the shots ringing out, the airplane going missing or perhaps a bomb going off.
Given that Leo was behind the assassination of the Kumari terrorist, perhaps this might be a payback event ?
Also means that they don't have to swear in the new VP until Series 8 which I fervently hope gets made - though I see ratings in the US are dipping.
What about something totally different - Alan Alda wins the presidency ?
I agree with other people that Josh won't work as VP - what about Nancy McNally - art imitating life with Dr Rice ?
I'd love them to bring back Sam Seaborn - there's also Cliff Calley of course....
There will be no S8. There would have been, though, I think if John Spencer hadn't passed. In fact, NBC was almost sure of it. But it's over. There is talk, though, of a spin off of sorts. I haven't heard much on it, but I get the idea that the scale would be smaller. A govenorship maybe? I doubt it'll get off the ground. They did the show well, but I think that maybe it fell a little victim of the 22 Ammendment. The fans knew it had to end... that Bartlet couldn't hold office forever. The West Wing, as well as John Spencer, will be missed. Tune in for the final episode. And the retrospective with a tribute to John Spencer.
