Umm... I don't know about you britts and the lot of you but I'm in full support of the war in Iraq. Lets stay in there till it's over! REBUILD IRAQ.
Yes I know this is a trollish post but that was what I'm going for... :P

Whilst getting rid of saddam was a good thing, I feel the way we (Britain and the States) went about it was wrong. Obviously pulling out now or after it started would be as bad as keeping them there. We should never have gone in in the first place.

i concur that something had to be done about suddam however unlike the post above im glad we went in... it wasnt solving itself and a ruler who in my opinion was in a league with hitler or moreover a dictatorship government is not how a town, city, state, county, country or indeed the world should be run!
LONG LIVE DEMOCRACY!

Something did have to be done. I'm glad we went in... I'm glad we are still there. Saddam had to be dealt with. Most of the other countries were trying to appease him... just like they did Hitler!
But we need to be trying to find osama more...
Find kill... it's all the same!

Saddam had been a problem for decades - But Bin - Laden was well hidden and protected and the press was turning on Bush - he needed a villain he could triumph over. The whole thing was to divert public attention from Afghanastan. The troops had been in the mountains for months and all they had to show for it was body bags flying home. Yes a number of the taliban were killed as well as a chunk of Al-queda but when the attention was diverted to saddam, troops pulled out of afghanistan to help with the war and just as they were getting close, they lost focus and Bin-Laden go away. He has now rebuilt his army and they are in a position to strike again because Bush wasn't getting the results he needed fast enough when they had a chance. Why couldn't he start one war and finish it as apposed to being a super hero which is a long way beyond his capabilities.
i want to add to that so here-
Now w e are in Iraq, i don't think we can leave. I also don't think the troops will be coming home any time soon. I raq is almost as unstable now as it was just prior to Fallujah. The election is causing chaos because anyone who didn't support the winner just doesn't abide by the law. My problem is i don't see how it's going to get better.

Completely agree. Bin Laden was the link to 9/11, which was the reason why we went into Afghanistan. When the American Secret Service lost him in the mountains, it seems the Pentagon/Bush took the view they weren't likely to find him sometime soon and turned their attention to Iraq. While the world is a better place with Saddam Hussein behind bars, to win the War on Terror we really need to catch Bin Laden.
Agree with you on Iraq as well by the way. I was against the war, but the longer it goes on the more important it is for us to stay there. The chaos and instability that we could create by leaving - and the first stages seemed to be hinted at Bush and Rumsfeld yesterday - would be immeasurable and totally undo the work that has gone into creating a parliament and a democratic system (of sorts).
