Title: Why do you like Josh?
Vicki - March 1, 2005 09:12 PM (GMT)
The title says it all, really. I'm a big Josh fan, and I get the impression I'm not alone on these forums. Why do we like him so much?

As I have said so many times before... I am NOT now, nor will I EVER be, a Josh fan. I do like him moreso than Mrs. Bartlet though.
BTW this post is close to being trollish in nature I would caution you in posting things like this much... but a trollish post ever now and then can be fun. This post isn't bad enough to warrant action.

I love Mrs Bartlet i think she the best, I do like josh as he has a good sence of humar.

I really wasn't trying to be controversial or trollish; I just wanted to start a light-hearted topic. As I said, Josh is my favourite character, and I love the whole Donna/Josh thing. I know that Josh is quite a popular character and wanted others' opinions. I didn't mean to offend anyone, so apologies if I have.

Trollish? What does that mean?
Anyway, I adore Josh, and everything about him. His walk, his smile, his jokes, his attitude...his hair, lol.
I am sure that is a nice place... but please do not advertise other places on this forum. This is a first warning.

i loooooooove josh.
i got all excited the other day cos he was in Ellen. yay.

He was in Ellen? I don't have Sky so I think I probably miss most of his other appearances. I heard that he's been in Malcolm in the Middle, but I haven't seen him in that, either.
Penniless - a 'troll' winds people up by being delibrately rude, controversial, etc. Not me, I promise!

Bradley Whitford was in one episode of Malcolm In The Middle with his wife Jane Kaczmarek.

There's something strangely vulnerable about Josh. I like him but i find it hard to explain why, he can be so obnoxious and irritating but there's something that keeps me interested, i think Donna somewhat explained it at tghe end of season 4 to Amy about his sister dying in the fire, the president getting shot and his father dying etc and somehow, Bradley Whitford is playing all of those emotions all of the time as well as being obnoxious to politicians. I know thats the job of an actor some only a few actually pull it off, especially with such a range of emotions.
Now when is donna gonna get josh, the second part of the inauguration were josh is throwing snowballs at Donna's window is a magic scene but when is it going to happen i've been holding my breath since season 2 !!!!!!!!

Hurtwood, I think you've got it in one there! About Josh's vulnerability, I mean. I've just started watching season 1 again and I'd forgotten how much you learn about him in those early episodes - especially about what happened with his sister. I'm also waiting for him and Donna to get together! I don't really know how they would make it work, but I'm not sure how much longer they can ignore the chemistry between them.

I sway from really liking Josh to him getting on my nerves. Sometimes I can't decide whether it's the character who makes me cringe or Bradley Whitford's acting. I just find him a bit over the top at times. I really didn't like his relationship with Amy Gardner - everytime she is in an episode I just want to scream at her "get a life love, stop taking everything so seriously!!!" But then, that's why I'm not in politics as I don't have the passion she has!

Josh is the man. I just watched the first episode of the seventh season. The scene where Donna comes to ask for a job was almost too brutal. Josh and Donna need to be together, obviously, i want it to happen pretty bad. I don't understand the thinking of one who doesn't like josh. He's the most complex character in the west wing (greatest show of all time). I really don't know what else to say, i miss Sam and Aaron Sorkin, but i think these new writers are doing a good job, and i'll always love this show.

I didn't like Josh until the whole post traumatic stress thing and the story about his sister came out and then I actually got into his character and liked him more.
I agree with missing Sam and Sorkin, but Sam may be coming back for a cameo if what I read is true...

Hmm, it's a bit quiet round here! Stew, where have you heard that Sam is coming back? Do you know when that's likely to be?
I totally agree about liking Josh more when you find out about his background and he becomes a much more rounded character. Is it Donna who points out that the reason Josh is the way he is, is because everyone he loves has died (or words to that effect)?
