ama - December 18, 2004 10:28 PM (GMT)
Anyone else miss Sam and his geekish ways or is it just me?
xShockwavex - December 19, 2004 11:30 AM (GMT)
I really do! - he was awesome! - its a shame he left - or rather a shame he didnt return to get his promotion. - but we didnt even find out what happend did he win the Florida 47th?
ama - December 19, 2004 07:04 PM (GMT)
yeah he won the california 47th, orange county. Miss him tho, he was really funny but totally dedicated. Will isn't anywhere near as good as him!

no worries! I watch the OC too, so I think that's the reason I remember where Sam was elected to Congress

I think Sam's the epitomy of every young, slightly neridsh guy who's into politics. He was such a great character - him and Toby complimented each other brilliantly in Communications - it was just a shame that Rob Lowe got a little bit big for his boots.
xShockwavex - December 22, 2004 07:36 PM (GMT)
Indeed it was down to a wage dispute or something to that effect. however i totallyy agree they worked greatly together and i always wanted to be just like "sam"

xShockwavex - January 3, 2005 02:45 PM (GMT)

Wasn't the fact that Sam won the very reason he left the White House? If I remember correctly...
I think that, while will is a nice replacement, sam is way better :P.
I think will is too wierd... and he seems to have an unatural relationship with his siter.
GRR...
Nothing like that! He just gets along with her in a quick witted way... a bit odd.
xShockwavex - January 13, 2005 05:41 PM (GMT)
hmmm... i suppose thier relationship seems to me to be more like very good friends ;)
however will is good but i do concur sam is/was far better....
please come back :wub:, as to the reason why same left;
In the show; he was asked to take the placed of a dead governer if he won, however we dont know if he was elected congressman ~ is that correct?
out of the show; sam was asking for too much money, rob lowe wanted as much as martin sheen, sorkin said no.
Locutus - January 14, 2005 02:56 PM (GMT)
Yeah that asking for more will always get you into trouble. Yep everytime... from Oliver asking, "Please sir, I'd like some more." To Rob Lowe saying, "Gimme gimme gimme!" Yep trouble everytime.
But we must not let the actor get in the way of the character...
I would like to see a follow yup on Sam... I don't know if this will ever happen though.
lookalive - January 15, 2005 09:44 AM (GMT)
Wouldn't it be great if Sam came back in series 6 and ran for President. Won't happen but it must have crossed their minds to write him back in.
xShockwavex - January 15, 2005 02:29 PM (GMT)
omg never thought of that that would be superb! - Bartlet passing the baton to Sam so to speak.
he always said that he would run for president one day.
Locutus - January 16, 2005 03:32 PM (GMT)
I don't think it'll ever happen, but hey it would be a great story. I think, though, that Sam wouldn't make THAT great a president... For the simple fact that he'd say some quick witted thing to a king or something in the middle east and start a war! :)

I have just finished watching series 4. In that series the last we see of Sam is himself and Josh discussing his election race and the conclusion they come to is that because of the timing of the governments announcement of their tax plans and the fact that the Democrats were planning a extra 1% rise for the ultra-rich it was inevitable that they would get creamed or “really creamed” as Sam put it and Josh agreed.
The election was not mentioned again in series 4 therefore I assumed he lost the election and would return in series 5 but it seams as if it is not to be (pity).
Series 4 ends with the kidnapping and the President transferring power. Boy what a cliffhanger I can’t wait for series 5 to be released here in Britain
xShockwavex - February 5, 2005 11:22 AM (GMT)
thats the exact stage im at....
cumon realse it!

Yeah sorry for editing that there... but I thought you should know I did it. And as far as getting it out to the UK, we got it first - nah nah nah nah nah :P ha ha ha But I would want to have the whole seris too. It'll come out soon I'm sure!

So where are you guys up to in the US in terms of TV? they've just finished season 5 here on Sky TV (E4), but I skipped watching it just to wait for the Box Sets out in April! I'm really worried about season 5, I hope it's not too different from 1-4?
Locutus - February 8, 2005 12:46 PM (GMT)
We've got 1-6 well most of 6. I haven't been watching it either - too busy. I've been letting Tvio watch them for me though. I will get the box set too.
hurtwood - March 9, 2005 12:35 PM (GMT)
Its not the story i heard , i heard he thought his storylines weren't strong enough, he wasn't given enough chance to shine effectively. but i agree sam was the better character. Will is weird and it took me a while to believe that will and tghe girl(can't remember her name,) were siblings.
Locutus - March 9, 2005 02:17 PM (GMT)
ha ha hurtwood just sumed up the whole thread, minus some off topic stuff, right there! :) Yeah I don't think we'll see sam or the lowe much at all. He just shouldn't have left the winning team!

I like Will alittle better. I have only seen the fourth season in completion so maybe My biases haven't been set in place yet. One a my favorite Will moments is when he first meets Toby.
Toby is sitting in his office, all the lights are off but one, casting the room in an eerie glow. In comes the biggest nerd to hit the show; Will. Toby is totally taken aback by Sam's little match maker plot and flatly refuses his help. Toby reads Will's speech. Will does likewise and they then descend into criticzing eachother's work( love that particualr little verbal spar) gaining a grudging respect for eachother. Toby blabs his heart out and Will offers praise of the highest order. Boom the relationship is consumated and a good character's longevity is born.
I also like when Will goes through his little period of doubt after alienating all his co-workers. They all quit, in come the interns and he tries to run them off also. He fails and they prove their worth and reliability after some fun scenes. It was cool seeing him develope into a whatever he has become. Long live Will.
I will say in Sam's defense though some of his ideaologies and concerns are really enlightened sometimes.
Allright, I will miss Sam as well.
Will tells it to the president straight up tho. ;) B)
Locutus - September 13, 2005 11:29 AM (GMT)
Yeah but he runs off with the VP... which begs the Q: Who has Sam's job now!? The office stays empty. You see that with the lock-down where they seal the oval.

Oh yeah I seen that a lotn of things happened in the interim between the last episode I saw and the episode that aired lst sunday night. It sucks that the team is going their separate ways. there was this really awkward moment between toby and josh. It was alittle sad. Oh well. I am a sucker for nostalgia and I hope I can adapt to these changes.
Long Live the empire.
