Affiliation: X-Men, Students

Name: Amara Juliana Olivians Aquilla

Nicknames: Magma

Blood type: O-

Place of birth: Nova Roma (an offshoot of ancient Rome), Brazil

Age: 18

Marital Status: Single

Known Relatives: Lucius Antonius Aquilla (Father); Selene (self-proclaimed Grandmother)

Base of Operations: Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters

Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual

Physical Appearance: Magma is tall, proportionately built, with the looks of a model in her normal human form. In her lava form, she looks every bit like the blood of the earth, glowing red and orange, and extremely hot to the touch as well.

Distinguishing Marks: N/A, in her human form; in her lava form, swirling red and orange lava-like lines, looking as if they are flowing all over her body.

Clothing style: Amara is all about comfort, one of the few that can wear all white and get away with it. T-shirts, blouses, shorts, cargo pants, jeans, skirts, flip flops, sandals, sneakers, high heals, boots, if it suits her, and is comfortable, she’ll wear it.

Xsuit: Normal black leather X-Suit

Powers: Magma is connected to the blood flow of the earth, her geo thermal powers allowing her to assume an energized form in which she radiates heat and light, can ignite high temperature flames, cause and direct seismic upheavals, summon molten rock to the surface as lava or small volcano mounds, and project "magma blasts" by superheating rock or stone and then mentally launching it at her foes.

One of her most outstanding usages of her power is the ability to jump head first into an active volcano, swimming in the lava without seemingly a care in the world.

Weakness: There really is no weakness directly associated with her powers, not when she is on earth anyway. If she were to be taken off the planet, she’d be useless, and if there is something between her and the earth, her powers are not as affective. Extent of ability depends on how much, and what exactly is blocking her from the surface of the planet. EG: At the top of a 100th floor skyscraper… not only will she be restless, wanting so badly to get closer to the ground, but her ability to actually affectively use her powers in her lava form will be extremely difficult. Essentially, until she is closer to the ground, her lava form will merely pose the danger of intense heat and light.

Personality: Magma is one of those girls that smiles a lot. Granted, she’s had plenty of problems in her life to allow for some form of angst to have developed, however, Amara hasn’t let these kind of things get her down. She holds a friendly and highly approachable disposition. She cares greatly for those she is closest to, and will do nigh anything to see them regain their smile should anything happen for them to lose it.

Amara doesn’t believe in holding grudges, and highly values her friendships. She has become like an older sister to many of the younger students in the mansion, and will remain so until the day she dies.

History: The story of Magma starts in Nova Roma, an offshoot of ancient Rome, located in the rainforest of Brazil. When some Romans (rightfully) assumed that the Republic was doomed with the death of Caesar, they fled and established Nova Roma. The city remained undetected over the nearly twenty centuries, and although the

Nova Romans interacted with some local Inca tribes native to the Amazon, they remained true to the traditions of ancient Rome. Naturally, Amara Juliana Olivians Aquilla, daughter of Lucius Antonius Aquilla, the first senator of Nova Roma, was raised in these traditions too.

Having lost her mother at a young age - she was murdered by the mysterious Black Priestess - Amara had a rather close bond to her father and obeyed his every wish. With a faction of the city’s Inca population attempting to transform the republic into an imperial state and some dark cult following the Black Priestess regularly sacrificing young girls in a pit of fire in some caves beneath the Nova Roma, the senator feared for his daughter’s safety and ordered her to hide among a friendly Indian tribe, disguising her features with a wig and body paint.

The Black Priestess managed to track her down, however, dragging the now young teenager to the pit of fire, which turned out to be one of the most active volcanos in the area. To her father’s horror, and while he was forced to watch, his only daughter was thrown in, and assumingly to her death. However, just as another girl was also pitched into the volcano, Amara once again reappeared, glowing the colours of the lava surrounding her. The Black Priestess had inadvertedly triggered the girl’s own mutant powers, her ability to call up and control fire, magma and earthquakes. She rose from the pit saving the young girl in the process, using her now control over the lava to stop it from singing even one hair on the young woman’s body. Soon, with her new powers, she overpowered the Black Priestess, and correspondingly, the cult that followed her, once again restoring some semblance of normality to Nova Roma.

It was soon revealed that Magma’s power was related to her temper, of which she had plenty of after these events. Fearing that it wasn’t safe for his daughter anywhere in Nova Roma, especially when news that she was now a mutant got out to those that hadn’t been grateful for her help with the Black Priestess’s cult. Contacting one of his close acquaintances in America, it was organised for her to travel to the US within a week, where she was to become a permanent resident of Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters.

At first, Magma was not happy that the Professor could read her mind, yet, it was both his reassurance and that of the close friend in Shadowcat she soon made, that she began to settle in, soon becoming ’big Sis’ to many of the younger students. Amara has always had an affinity with kids, hoping to teach them one day. That is the goal she has been working towards since arriving at the mansion when she was fourteen years old.

Another goal has also been met, that of becoming one of the X-Men, and to this day, Amara enjoys the concept that she is indeed helping to make the world a better place, one day at a time, and howeverbeit slowly.

SAMPLE RP POST

Molten lava. To most, it held a sense of danger and destruction. To Amara Aquilla, it was the veins of the earth; the blood that flowed through its core. Her ear to the ground, she smiled to herself, loving this particular clearing in the forest surrounding the school. She’d found it only three days after first arriving four years ago, drawn to it because it held the element she controlled closest to the surface than any other place around or beneath the mansion.

She could hear it pulsing, like real blood coursing through real veins. “Hello my lovely,” she whispered, the smile on her face palpable; the sense of complete happiness clear. As fire was Pyro’s love, lava was Magma’s; get the two together, and they could really show the world how powerful they really were. Amara was essentially the perfect lighter for Pyro, and it had been proven many a time in the Danger Room already.

Standing up, Amara closed her eyes, the seconds passing before she opened them again seeing her clothes disappear beneath the glow of orange and red. She was now in her lava form. Oh how she relished the moments she went from normal to volcanic in the matter of seconds. It wasn’t that she did not like her human form, it was just… this one was so much better!

Moving her right hand in a sweeping motion, the earth directly beneath her began to gently shake. Amara took a step back, watching as it began to shape itself into a small cone. Oh, she was capable of so much more, having come so far in the years she had been at the mansion, however, to form something too big in the forest so close to a highly inhabited school, was just asking for trouble. Up it flowed, through natural openings, and the additional ones Amara opened to let it through. She stepped closer to the cone only moments before it broke the surface, surrounding her in all its molten glory.

Molten lava. The blood flow of the earth; one of the main construct of the earth’s core; and the element Magma could now never live without.
