Title: Batgirl's Mother
Description: Who's your... mommy?

Robin - June 22, 2005 07:45 AM (GMT)
For years Cassandra Cain's true origins have been a mystery. Although it is known that she was raised by her father the Assassin David Cain and trained to be the DCU's most dangerous human weapon, the truth of her mother has remained unknown.

In the next three months Batgirl will be taking a journey across the world in search of the woman she could call Mother. But who?

Cast your vote.

The suspects so far are:

Lady Shiva: Formerly the World's most dangerous martial artist on earth, until she lost that title to Batgirl several years back. Cassandra and Shiva have an unusual connection that neither are aware of and both are the most dangerous mortal women ever to exist in the DCU.

Problem: Years ago the second Robin, Jason Todd went in search of his own mother. Lady Shiva was amongst the three women whom had close connections with his father. But when Batman and Jason confronted Shiva, they injected her with truth sereum and asked "Have you ever had a child?" to which she replied "No."

Talia Head: Batman's Beloved and the Daughter of the Demon's Head: Ra's Al Ghul. Like her father, Talia has lived a long life, and is an exceptionally powerful opponent as well and cunning strategist. Although she and Cassandra have never really met, they both share shadey pasts and connections with David Cain and Batman.

Problem: Talia's father would never have allowed her to have a child with a man he didnt' approve of. Ra's wanted an heir, more than anything and she would never have disobeyed him years before meeting Batman.

Nyssa Head: Ra's Al Ghul's first daughter and his killer. Leader of the new League of Assassin's Nyssa is completely insane, driven that way by her own father. She killed Talia a dozen times only to resurrect her with the Lazzarus Pit in order to drive her mad. Her life as a whole is a mystery. All that is known for certain is that she was born many decades ago, and was abadoned by Ra's who she thought believed her unfit to rule in his stead and only resurfaced a year ago. What she did before that is completely unknown.

Problem: Actually she has the most chance of being Batgirl's mother. Aside from being Ra's daughter, no one can say for certain what she did before last year. Perhaps she and Cain made an arrangement?

I voted other, because I think Batgirl is the daughter of Imra Ardeen (Saturn Girl) and Lightning Lad/Live Wire (Garth Ranzz) sent back in time by he-who-Alan-won't-let-me-name for nefarious purposes.

LMAO! Poor poor Jim, surprised you didn't say Karate Kid ;). I actually voted Shiva, just because I thought that from the beginning and really no other reason besides the fact that I could be wrong but it seems like they're the only two who know how to read body language. I'm not positive but I think she could have conceivably lied through the truth serum, or possibly doesn't know of the baby because of a mindwipe or something...I dunno. Of course I believe there's a bit of an age problem as well. If Shiva's around 30 she'd have to have had Cass when she was like 12 or 13, which I guess cooooould be conceivable buuuuut it is kinda reaching...unless of course they say the Hell with continuity. :P

+_+ Jim... that was the lamest Legion thing you've ever said on SOOOO many levels. First off, Saturn Girl isn't Asian. Second David Cain is Batgirl's father. You need to get help. LOT of help. With big needles and a lambotamy.

If you're not going to take the poll serious and make up stuff, at least think more logical than those two random legion character who don't even look, act or have anything in common with Batgirl. Karate kid would have been more apt.

And agreed Marx. Shiva is in her early 30's. And the woman they showed with Cain was rather well developed, although they never showed her face.

Jim's idea sounds about right to me :D

Jakazul - June 22, 2005 07:36 PM (GMT)
Me too. Cain's just a cover-up. Probably secretly working for He-Who-Alan-Won't-Let-Jim-Name and his nefarious purposes. In reality Batgirl is the daughter of Lightning Lad and Saturn Girl.

(I voted Nyssa, btw.)

And why am I not suprised... That's what happens when a victim and their stalker get too close... Such a shame. Jim broke Lani.

Jakazul - June 22, 2005 07:38 PM (GMT)
Jim's not stalking me though. I'm just stupid. :D

Robin - June 22, 2005 07:51 PM (GMT)
Well... yeah. Why do you think we don't listen to you that much? ;)

atlantis - June 22, 2005 07:57 PM (GMT)
Wait...Jim's stalking me? since when?
And he so didn't break me, i've been defective long before i met him.

Jakazul - June 22, 2005 11:38 PM (GMT)
Amen.

Wow, guys, thanks for the support. That means alot to me. ;)2

And, Alan, the child of Garth and Imra isn't that far fetched. In the pre-zero hour world, one of their sons was sent back in time by Darkseid and went on to become Validus; there is precedent.

He-who-you-will-not-let-me-name could have altered the childs appearance to fit her into her new environment.

Or, the interaction of Titanian and Winathian genes could have had unexpected results on the child's appearance.

And I'm not stalking Lani anymore. Somewhere between your electroshock therapy and Marx flamethrowering me, I realized that as much suffering as I could put up from you two, Lani didn't really like me. So, now I just watch from afar with my unrequited love in a non-stalkerish kind of way. :D2

Actually it is far fetched because this is Batgirl were talking about. Not Legion, not Superman, not the Justice League, not Green Lantern. Batgirl. A Batman comic book. And it is a well established fact that in Batman comics they do not do alternate future children storylines, time traveling or random crud like that anymore and haven't done them in almost ten years. The most they do is a character getting resurrected in a lazarus pit (AKA Ras Al Ghul and Jason Todd).

Writer in Batman hate those kinds of stories because they are repetative and rather lame (for example X-Men Rachel and Nathan Summers). They like to keep things a bit more grounded. So yes it is very far fetched for a bat-book that has little to no interaction with the Legion. And Lame-o the time dude has nothign to do with this because again its a bat-book and he has no jurisdiction in a bat-book. Batgirl is Assain. Part of her DNA comes from Cain (As proven when the clan ran a DNA test on her at one point).

And you know Jim, you did promise me that you would stop with the time-travel legion crud since it was getting REALLY old and annoying. After all, I haven't use the Phoenix junk in nearly four months now, and I've kept my promise not to anymore. +_+

atlantis - June 23, 2005 07:13 AM (GMT)
awwww, you two made a superpower pact?
That is so cute!

NutiketAiel - June 23, 2005 10:05 AM (GMT)
Yes, and I was a jerk and forgot.

Sorry, Alan. I'll try not to let it happen again.

Jakazul - June 23, 2005 10:26 AM (GMT)
You don't call him Alan, you call him the Almighty Phoe... Sorry. *cough*
And now for something completely different. *explosions in the background*
