Title: Google Earth

Google EarthThis is pretty cool. It's basically a 3D globe, where you can zoom into the buildings and stuff, as a matter of fact you'll probably be able to find your house, or at least the general area where it is. Think the coolest thing was the grand canyon.

I'd just like to say that I downloaded this after Marx suggested it to me and it totally rocks. I found my house, which was somewhat cool. Then I found the pyramids, and that was amazing.

<.< I couldn't find the pyramids...I found my school though, it was even a 3D building oooooooo.

The pyramids kick bobba. I could never find the Sphinx though. That's how the area's labled. Like right down and left from the top of the Nile in Africa you'll see a big patch of desert, that's where the pyramids'll be.
You may be able to just search "Sphinx, Egypt", but I wouldn' gurantee it.

I keep tryong t o download it onto my laptop to use, but it won't open. I've check the security settings, firewall, ect; however, nothing seems to work. I've got 305 mbs(GB....can't remember) of Ram instead of 312. Could that be the problem?
Jakazul - August 3, 2005 07:12 PM (GMT)
Maybe. I wouldn't think that small a difference would matter much, but I guess it could.
I would expect that to just slow it down or make it freeze, but not actually stop it from opening.

Anything you think I could do to be able to access it or should I just give up and download it to my Aunts comp?

Minimum configuration:
* Operating system: Windows 2000, Windows XP * CPU speed: IntelŪ PentiumŪ PIII 500 MHz * System memory (RAM): 128MB * 200MB hard-disk space * 3D graphics card: 3D-capable video card with 16MB VRAM * 1024x768, 32-bit true color screen * Network speed: 128 kbps ("Broadband/Cable Internet")

I can't see any reason on there that it shouldn't be working unless it's computer or screen size. The graphics card is pretty basic, so you should easily have that and 200 MB isn't very much all things considered.
I can't think of anything to do to make it work other than uninstalling and reinstalling it, but I dunno if that'd make much difference.
Wait:

| Windows-based notebook PCs older than 2 years old may not be able to run it. |
Could that be it?
Flamebird - August 3, 2005 07:30 PM (GMT)
But.....I just bought this notebook last month. Its a toshiba sattilite celeron........figures thats what I get for getting the least expensive laptop in circuit city!
Jakazul - August 3, 2005 07:33 PM (GMT)
I dunno... It's not two years old and, atleast from what the Toshiba site stats says, it should meet all of the requirements. I really don't know why it wouldn't work.

Nope it didn't work, but ironically enough when I looked it up on Google, it's pretty easy to find if you know where the Great Pyramids are.

OoOoOoOoOoh. Pretty 3Ddedness.
Marx - August 4, 2005 01:46 PM (GMT)
Isn't it? Too bad they're not 3D on Google Earth, another cool thing about it, you can use it to fine all the comic book stores around your area with they're locations, how cool is that? *gonna try to find Chinese Food Restaurants that deliver when I get home*
Jakazul - August 4, 2005 05:17 PM (GMT)
LOL That's awesome. I think we only have one comic book store, sadly, but we've got two chinese take-outs... not sure if they deliver. You've inspired me.
TO THE GOOGLE-EARTH-MOBILE!
