Well okay I guess before I start the rantishness I should give a quick review of the issue.

Robin #150

Anyway, I'll try to keep this one quick. If you read my review for 148, "Batgirl" is dead but that wasn't Cass and Robin was framed for the murder. In 149 you find out the League of Assassins has something to do with it and they leave a message which Robin decodes telling him to bring David Cain or Cass dies. Okay so in 150 Robin breaks into the prison and takes David Cain and gets attacked and basically after awhile spanked by the League of Assassins whose led by...dun dun dunnnn Cassandra Cain. Apparently she found out that David trained another daughter like her who she killed and now she wants to kill Cain and have Robin join the League. Telling him that Batman's just using him to distract villains and all. Or should I say she wants Robin to kill Cain and then join the League.

Review/Rant

Now first let me say the part about this issue that annoys me has nothing to do with the majority of the issue, as a matter of fact I have added Robin to my monthly list and I'm still looking forward to the next couple of issues even after the Cass storyline is over. What annoyed me is Cass.

It's like how Terminator 3 made the past two movies completely pointless, this version of Cass made the entire Batgirl series pointless. She doesn't want to be a bat anymore, I buy that, but she spent the entire series fighting as hard as she could to not be like Cain. And that was over a year, and now in this year she's not only evil and admitting she's just like her father but the girl's monologuing. The same Cass who barely said more than 2 words is telling Robin this long lecture, it's just not Cass and that really annoys me. They pretty much just made her a mini Shiva, when before she resembled Shiva but was her own person. Anyway, long story short, loved the issue but hate what they did to Cassandra.

Yeah, I bought that issue today, might be the only one I get regularly for a bit though since my local grocery store carries it lol.

Yeah, I found Cassandra's ability to articulate many many sentences at once very odd.

I also thought it was weird that she could go evil like that..not only evil but running the leage of assassins AND outsmarting Robin. I thought she was a fighter, not a strategist...

The plot has potential though, and i'm wondering if she's just fond of Robin or is planning to make him hers or summit.

Whaddya think the odds are this aint the real Cass?

I could even buy her being somewhat of a strategist since she was studying to be detective but being able to outsmart Robin in a year especially since he's been basically training with Batman and Nightwing for the same year just doesn't work. I agree though, I'm pretty into the story, so far the only thing that got to me was Cassandra's personality.

If for some reason it wasn't the real Cass I'd be estatically happy, but I doubt that's the case. Wouldn't make much sense even if it was like the sister Cass said she killed or something. Plus it makes sense that the League would let her lead since they all looked up to her in the first place in her title.

heh could be worse they could have made her into supergirl

Marx - May 31, 2006 10:08 PM (GMT)
lol That would suck. Not characterwise or anything it'd just be that Cass is insanely powerful as it is...if she actually had super powers, that would just be like Superman and Batman merged.

hey you never know what they'll do to try and shock!

Hey, who read the Batman issue where Batman and Robin went up against Scarecrow? I thought what Bats said about Robin was remarkably interesting. About how he'd been through more than even Scarecrow could dream up. Oh, and SBP made a cameo appearance, which made me laugh as Robin told the faux illusion exactly where he could GO.
