Title: The DC University
Description: Yes, it's finally begun!
Marx - May 26, 2006 10:04 PM (GMT)
Most people wonder exactly where superheroes come from. There's a couple of answers to this question. Some are just born as metahumans, others don't actually have powers and train to help the world in one way or another and some have some kind of freak accident that changes them. But what makes them decide to protect the world? While there are a few who learn on their own, the majority learn in a school. A high school actually. The DC University, which has such prestigious names as Superman, Wonder Woman and Batman as graduates. But it seems as time goes on the new generation of heroes grows larger and larger. Now teens from all over, brought into the world of heroes through different means attend the school. But since the school is anything but normal, and the line between heroes and villains becomes less black and white and more gray...issues tend to happen, and you'll soon see.
Metropolis
"So bro, you ready for your first day?" Kara Kent said as he nudged her little brother, Conner who rolled his eyes in reply. "You're asking the wrong question Kara, the question is...is the school ready for me?" Conner said confidently as he put on his shades. Kara looked at Conner's outfit and laughed. He was wearing white jeans and bright as day on his shirt was the S-shield his father had made into an iconic symbol. "You know everyone's going to know who you are, you don't have to advertise it." Kara said with a playful shove as Conner made his way downstairs.
"Advertise what? Just you wait Kara. When I use this symbol, everyone'll be saying, 'Wasn't there someone else who wore that S? I forget. This one is just so much more studly.' " Conner stated as he struck a heroic pose. "I think I'd take some slight offense to that." A deep voice said that made Conner stop in his tracks. "Gotcha." The voice said as it suddenly got more feminine. "Karen! Geeze, you gave me a heart attack!" Conner gradually got the color back in his face as he reached the bottom of the stairs to see his oldest sister, Karen, also known as Power Girl, a graduate of DCU. Conner tried to hide his blushing with yelling at Kara who'd yet to stop laughing at the joke.
"Mom and Dad are working. They wanted to see you off on your first day but you know how it is. Brainiac and some kind of minion guy went on a tear downtown." Karen said casually as she took a sip of coffee. "You didn't go?" Conner asked as he set his backpack on the couch. "Nah, dad's beaten Brainiac more times than I can count. Figured one of us should be here before you left." Karen nudged her head to the television which was showing the ongoing battle between Superman and Brainiac being reported on by Lois Lane. And sure enough within minutes Superman had defeated the green genius and his pawns. "Heh, I could do that." Kara and Karen both gave Conner a look. "What? You're talking about the kid with the most talked about tactile telekinesis in the world."
"Oh yeah, that's why you had to make up the name for the power little bro." Kara taunted as she ruffled her hands through Conner's hair, messing it up much to his protest. "Gaaah! I hate you two!"
D. Beller Orphanage: Suicide Slum
"Ha ha ha ha! Will! You're actually going to wear that to school?" Greta Hayes was bent over in laughter at her brother's clothes. For the most part he was dressing like he normally would. Everything in black with a trenchcoat, what she found so humorous was that he had a pentagram, his father's symbol, in blood red right on the center of his shirt. "The way I see it, whether I tell everyone my father's Satan or not, they'll find out and whisper it behind my back and all like I wouldn't know what they're saying. This way they'll know it as soon as they look at me. You sure you still want to go, Greta? I mean, you could always say you're dead so you don't have to go to school." Greta seemed to think about it for awhile before she shrugged it off. "Nah, I'd be bored witless. We can't all have girlfriends in the orphanage." Immediately Will sneered which contrasted with Greta's dark smile.
"She wishes." Will bluntly said as he crossed his arms and leaned against the wall. "And that's why you dream of me every night, Will." Will and Greta both looked up to see a teenage girl with white hair in a slightly revealing leather outfit. "You got that right, Rose. And you're dead in every single one of them. I never get tired of it." Will shot back as Rose got steadily closer to him as if stalking her prey. "Aw, Will. I didn't know you were a necropheliac. You should have told me." Rose said in a playful voice as she traced the pentagram on Will's chest. "I didn't know if you'd be into it. But hey if you are why don't you kill yourself so we can get it on." To anyone else it would have looked like Will was being completely serious but both Greta and Rose went into a fit of laughter. "Now now you two, if you're going to get into another fight, at least wait til we get to school to do it so I can take bets."
"What's the point, Greta? We all know I'd spank her." "See? Why else would you phrase it that way? If you want to spank me so bad here you go." Rose turned around and stuck her butt in Will's direction to which he tried not to look but couldn't help himself. "If you insist, 'baby'." Will lifted his hand, which quickly had an aura of fire around it. "Just hold that pose." "Will!" Greta scolded as he pulled down Will's hand to Rose's amusement. "Play nice." Will had a dark smile of his own as the fire began to fade. Greta shook her head with a sigh, she knew that chances are if it wasn't for her the two of them would have killed each other by now and the fact is they were the only superpowered people in the orphanage, so all they really had was each other.
Gotham City
"Cassandra! Open the door!" Tim Drake yelled as he pounded on the door. "You have to come out of there sooner or later! I promise you it won't be that bad!" Suddenly the door swung open and Tim's adoptive sister Cassandra Cain stepped out with the glare to end all glares. "I don't...want...to go." Tim immediately backed up, giving Cassandra her space. "Come on Cass, you're making it out to be worse than it is." Tim spoke softly, as if he were choosing his words carefully, which indeed he was, the last thing he wanted to do was make Cassandra more angry than she already was.
"Oh? Tell me then...how many?" Cassandra asked never taking her eyes off of Tim. "I..don't know Cass. But it's nothing to be embarrased about, there's a lot of people who...you know.." "Can't read?!" Cass answered before slamming the door closed again. "Cass, it's not like you can't read anything. You're really progressing in the lessons." Tim began to lean against the door as he pleaded. "You're lying. I don't even...need to see you...to tell." Tim let out a sigh as he finally gave up and walked away. "I take it, things didn't go too well?" Tim turned to the voice to see his big brother, Dick. "She's worried about looking stupid since has such trouble reading. It's not even her fault she can't, it's her father's. But she doesn't see it that way." "Don't let it bug you, Tim. Push comes to shove we can always get dad, he's probably the only one who could get her to go that wouldn't be scared of her royally kicking their @$$." Tim's head shot up as he gave Dick a surprised look. "I-I wasn't..." "Suuuuuuure you weren't."
Annapolis, Maryland
"Marx, wake up! I'm not going to tell you again!" A woman's voice yelled at her son who merely groaned in the bed and rolled over. "Okay, fine. If that's how you want it. Holy crap! The PS3's price dropped to $200!" Suddenly Marx Coolor popped up out of his bed, his glowing red eyes wide as he turned to his mother. "No way!" "Of course there's no way. But I couldn't you to wake up any other way. Now get ready. You don't want to miss your first day." Marx showed a look of disappointment as he flopped back on the bed. "But moooooom. What are the actual chances I'll be late? I can get ready in less than a minute." "You look here young man, I don't care how fast you can move. I'm your mother and I'm telling you to get your butt out of that bed!"
Marx slowly sat up again with a groan. "You know, I bet Flash's son doesn't have to deal with this." "Then maybe you should see if he's up for adopting you. If I get back to this room and you're not ready there'll be Hell to pay!" Marx's mom threatened with the dreaded pointer finger of dooom as she left the room. Marx took a long stretch before he turned on the radio and began to sing along with the music as he blazed all around the room at superspeed. "Sweat baby, sweat baby! Sex is a Texas drought! Me and you do the kind of stuff that only Prince would sing about! So put your hands down my pants and I bet you'll feel @#$%! Yes I'm Siskel, yes I'm Ebert and you're getting two thumbs up!" By the time Marx got to the chorus he'd already gotten ready and dressed and was merely dancing around the room with his hand morphed into a microphone.
Shinobi - May 27, 2006 04:32 AM (GMT)
(Sounds funny so far lol. Great ways of reintroducing the characters lol. I have a suggestion if ya put Shinobi in: Adam arguing with Enoki about it, Enoki saying if Adam can finally beat him in a fight he can stay home.
Enoki promptly knocks Adam unconcious...when he wakes up he's tied up on whatever vehicle is supposed to take 'em to school with a note pinned to his chest 'Too slow'
Also...i'm thinkin' of retconning TL's home town to someplace in my state lol Toledo Ohio. It's basically what i'm basing his city on anyhow.
And my final bit of reviewing...
The pentagram is not a Satanic symbol, it's actually Pagan(celtic if i'm not mistaken) in origin. Much like Halloween was a celebration of the harvest. The early Christian church painted anything different as Satanic, although they would sometimes adopt practices of other religions to appeal to them and get converts (ala Halloween)
Marx - May 27, 2006 01:54 PM (GMT)
(Shinobi will be in the story as will TL, this year as a matter of fact. *planning on having 4 years/4 stories* And I can totally use that senario. Oh, if Shinobi has anymore family or anything that isn't in his bio PM me to let me know.
And thanks for the information about the pentagram. lol Totally clueless about that, just thought it was Satanic from what I've seen in other comics and stuff. I guess Will just...assumes that no one will know the difference...yeah! Glad you're liking the story so far. :D)

A classic yellow school bus screeched to a halt in front of the D. Beller Orphanage seeming like it was going way too fast to actually have kids in it. Will looked back with a curious expression to Rose and Greta who both had smirks. As he walked up Will had to admit even he was taken back by what he saw. Sure from the outside it looked like a normal bus, but inside it was a lot bigger than the average school bus with the teens to match. "Whoa...weeee're off to see the wizaaard...." Will said with a slightly sarcastic tone. "Heh, it's a spell. We have way too many students in way too many places to use regular school busses you know? William Hayes, Greta Hayes and Rose Wilson?" Will and the girls looked slightly confused as they looked at the bus driver. He had short yellowish orange hair and a white shirt with the DC University logo along with a dark blue jacket and jeans. "Um...yeah, that's us." Greta spoke up. The driver nodded and gave them a smile. "Then welcome to the DCU bus. The name's Bee. I'll be your driver for the year. Anything you guys need just let me know. Oh and um..Greta is it. You might want to power down in public, don't want to give us away now do you?"
The three of them looked at each other and gave the exact same look. Greta was the one who actually spoke up first. "First. I'm as powered down as I can go. And second, you do realize you told us the bus was magic before you confirmed who we were. Ya know, while we're on the subject of giving us away." Bee suddenly blushed. "Oh...yeah...right you are. Still...getting used to that. Um, thanks for the tip. You should be able to find some seats in the back." You could tell by Bee's expression he was mentally kicking himself and it looked like Will was going to make it worse before Greta started pushing him to the back of the bus. The kids in the front of the bus were shaking their heads as if this wasn't the first mess up the driver did. As Will led the way to the back of the bus he noticed that there were a mixture of ages in the bus and some of them were going for the "superhero" look more than others.
There was about an even mixture of people who had superhero oriented shirts, and ones who were dressed like normal students. Though the one who caught the trio's attention the most was one who looked to be in full superhero garb. As a matter of fact he looked like a ninja. He looked to be unconscious with a small note taped to his chest. "It says 'Too slow'. He was carried on here by some old guy." Will looked up to see a kid with big brown hair who'd obviously noticed the ninja as well. "Hi, I'm Joey." Rose looked down at the boy with a coy smile. "Hi, I'm...not interested." Will and Greta broke into a laugh as they continued to walk past not really paying anyone any attention. Suddenly Rose gave Will a nudge and he looked to see a boy in a Superman shirt bragging about how he was going to be the king of the school when he got there. Conner stopped talking when he saw that Will was looking at him. "You find something interesting?" He asked in a hostile tone, which only made Will smirk more. "Nope, nothing at all." As they walked past him, Rose gave him a slight wink.
Finally they got to the back of the bus which most people didn't even bother to walk to. They didn't realize it but if they'd looked out the windows they would have noticed that the bus was moving extremely fast but yet they weren't feeling any of the movement. When the bus stopped again, a kid with black hair and a wide lightning bolt on his shirt made his way on the bus. Bee started to call out his name but Conner beat him to the punch. "Freddy!" Freddy snapped out of his amazement at the size of the bus and waved to Conner before turning back to Bee. "Magic, right?" "You know it, ah! I see you'd be pretty well aquainted with that Mr. Freeman." Freddy shuddered at the name. "Please, just Freddy." He then quickly made his way to Conner and the others that were steadily surrounding him.
When the bus stopped again, a very loud singing could be heard as soon as the door opened which began to draw a couple peoples' attention. "I took a walk around the world to ease my troubled mind! I left my body laying somewhere in the sands of time! I watched the world float to the dark side of the moon! I feel there is nothing I can doooooooo, yeeeeeah!" It was obvious that Bee and a couple of the students were trying not to laugh, and some just let it out. "Marx Coolor?" Marx gave a quick nod but didn't dare interrupt the song to fully answer. "I watched the world float to the dark side of the moon!" Freddy suddenly picked up the song with an imaginary mic. "After all I knew it had to be something to do with youuuuuu!" Then Freddy passed the imaginary microphone to a blonde girl, Cissie King Queen(yes that's her real name). "I really don't mind what happens now and then!" Then Cissie passed it to, another boy with big hair, Bart Allen. "As long as you'll be my friend at the end!" There wasn't even a need to pass the 'mic' as everyone knew Conner had the next line. "If I go crazy then will you still call me Superman! If I'm alive and well, will you be there holding my hand!" The others continued to sing and pass the 'mic' as Will, Greta and Rose thanked the stars that they were all the way in the back of the bus.
By the time the bus reached the next stop the singing had died down, but there was still lots of excited talking. Suddenly a short girl with long, brown hair in a single braid quickly ran up the bus stairs, and unlike most of the people, seemed completely uninterested in the misleading size of the bus. It seemed like she was trying to run away from something and what it was, was figured out as soon as Bee was once again interrupted as he tried to call the name. "Duo! You forgot your lunch!" Duo looked really annoyed at the woman who was pulling her back by the arm. "Eloiiiiiiiiise! I got it okay! I could have just gotten lunch at the school!" "Oh Duo I wish you would call me mom." "*sigh* Fine! Mom! Whatever! Just let me go! Please!" Duo said back to her foster mother practically pleading. "Did you remember to put on a clean pair of und-?" "DRIVE! NOW!" Duo interrupted in such a tone, it made everyone in the first two rows of the bus including Bee jump causing him to do just that and blaze away. Duo let out a long sigh as she quickly made her way to where there were the fewest people, which normally would have been the back of the bus but there were three people back there so she chose a midpoint.
Bee let out a sigh as the bus stopped once again. He was almost afraid to open the door and this was given merit as Cassandra stormed onto the bus and immediately went near the back before Bee could even ask who she was. "Um...that's Cassandra Cain...I'm Tim Drake." Tim said politely giving a wary look to Cass before sitting next to her. Bee smiled and checked off the the list. "One more stop." Bee said happily as the bus zoomed off once again. And again Bee was kind of wary as he opened the door, but this time it seemed for naught as a pretty blonde girl with a Wonder Woman shirt made her way up the stairs. "Cassandra Sandsmark?" Cassie gave Bee a warm smile. "Yup that's me." Suddenly a few people began whispering, though Bart was a little louder. "That's Wonder Woman's daughter.." This immediately got Conner's attention as he called to Cassie. "I got a seat for you right here!" Cassie could feel her cheeks burning at the attention and made her way to the seat next to Conner. Though as soon as she really looked at him, she thought her cheeks would never go back to normal again. "...Holy Hera...You're Conner Kent aren't you?" Conner flashed her his trademark smile and leaned a little closer. "The one and only soon to be Superman." He stated taking a heroic pose. "Wow...I mean...um...that's so cool." Cassie said trying not to sound too star struck.
"Okay everyone. We're here." Bee said triumphantly as he opened the bus doors.

Oh wait...after re-reading it was probably this line
"It says 'Too slow'. He was carried on here by some old guy." Will looked up to see a kid with big brown hair who'd obviously noticed the ninja as well. "Hi, I'm Joey." Rose looked down at the boy with a coy smile. "Hi, I'm...not interested.

Marx - June 1, 2006 10:31 PM (GMT)

Freddy looked around the school "Wow." he said to himself "Billy and Mary were right" he said as he said "CAPTAIN MARVEL!!!" and changed into Captain Marvel Jr with his crutch in his hand and he walked towards the door.

Everyone began to gradually make their way off the bus, some thanking the bus driver and others not even bothering. Joey began nudging the ninja who awoke in a fighting stance obviously confused. "Wha-..what the hell? Where am I?" "You're at the DCUniversity. You know you don't actually have to wear a costume if you're a first year, right?" Joey said as he pulled his backpack on and helped the ninja up. "I'm actually here?" The ninja said in surprise as he finally realized the note and seemed to smile as he pulled down his hood showing his face. "Hey, I'm Adam. Thanks for waking me up." He said holding out his hand, which was accepted. "Joey, and you're already more polite than some of the people on this bus." Joey said slightly annoyed before he heard a familiar voice behind him. "Talking about anyone specifically?" Joey tried not to react to Rose's obvious attempt to creep him out as once again she laughed with Will and Greta as they walked past.
Both Adam and Joey turned their heads to the side as Rose and the others walked away. "She might be really creepy and all but...damn she looks good in those pants." Joey said as Adam added, "You're telling me, makes me wish I had X-Ray vision. Hell I wouldn't even need it in both eyes." As the rest of the students came out of the bus, they slowly begin to gather in front of the school taking in the scenery. At first glance it just looked like a normal High School, though it was significantly bigger than any they'd seen. When they looked at the sky though every now and then there seemed to be a slight red flash. "Attention new students! Over here!" Everyone turned to see an older guy with brown hair who was wearing an Hourman shirt snapping to get their attention. "I'm Vice Principal, Snapper Carr here to welcome you all to the DC University. I can guarentee you the following four years will change your live forever, hopefully in a positive way. Principal J'onzz couldn't be here due to some issues with some of the other students but he'll be meeting with you all when he can. In the meantime if you have any questions feel free to ask."
"What's the issue with the students?" One of the kids yelled but there were so many that it was hard to pinpoint where it came from beyond the general direction which caused a couple of the students to snicker. "Well if I was going to tell you the issue I wouldn't have been nearly as cryptic about it now would I?" Snapper answered with a smile. "Don't you think that gathering a bunch of heroes and people training to be heroes in one place is a bit dangerous?" A girl with purple hair and eyes to match asked. "I'd appreciate it if you raised your hands before asking anymore questions. And Miss..?" "Wah. Linsday Wah." "Miss Wah, you have no need to worry. I'm sure most of you have noticed the slight red glow in the sky. Similar to the bus, it's a spell but this one's basically a force field, it phases us out of the usual plane of reality, which along with countless other safeguards makes this school the safest place on the planet next to the JLA Watchtower." As Snapper began to name some of the various safeguards he seemed quite proud of them as if he had something to do with some of them.
"For those who don't know how it works, the first thing we do is go to the auditorium for Power Placement to show your powers, which will most likely decide your curriculum." Snapper said before noticing that someone was raising their hand and acknowledged them. "Um, Mr. Carr. Isn't Power Placement just a way to seperate us into 'heroes' and 'sidekicks' or some kind or similar stereotype?" Cissie asked, looking none too happy with her arms folded. "Well Miss...King is it? I'll be the first to admit that originally that was exactly what Power Placement was for, but thanks to a certain supposed 'sidekick' that had no powers whatsoever being able to take down the majority of the the 'heroes' with powers..." Snapper gave Tim a look with a knowing smile. "I believe you know him as Batman, Power Placement merely puts the students into a curriculum that can supports their strengths, such as magic users, martial artists, etc. We don't want anyone bored in classes because they were already taught by their parents now do we?"
Cissie and a few of the others seemed satisfied with the answer as Snapper led them to the auditorium which like everything else in the school was emence and all of the new students had no problem fitting in. "I leave them to you." Snapper said as he gave a nod to the other teacher who was in full superhero uniform. "Hello new students. My name is Mr. Carter, though you're probably more familiar with my codename, Booster Gold!" He said striking a pose and trying to ignore the confused looks the majority of the students were giving that hadn't the faintest clue who the heck he was. "I'll be your Power Placement instructor. This will be pretty simple, I'll call your name. You come up here and show me your powers and you'll be put into the appropriate classes. First up is...Bart Allen." Before Booser had even finished saying the name Bart was already next to him...then in front of him...then behind him, then in front of him again then...well you get the idea. "Okay okay, you have super speed like your pops, I get it. Boulder!" Everyone looked around slightly confused until a boulder dropped seemingly out of nowhere right on top of Bart who simply vibrated out of it with a cocky expression. "I see you have the vibrating power as well." Booster said with a similar smirk as he checked something off.
"Next is..Anita Fite." A puff of smoke appeared next to Booster which made him jump slightly as he saw Anita looking quite proud of herself. "Teleportation. Nice. Anything else?" Anita seemed to think about it before she suddenly attacked Booster, flooring him. "...and...martial arts....I see..." Booster showing that it was his pride that was hurt more than anything else. "Ya mon, I also know some vodoun, I believe you call it voodoo, though I've never liked that term. We simply draw strength and gifts from our gods, I've never seen a zombie that wasn't in a movie." As Booster got up he had a warm smile as he could tell she'd gotten quite annoyed with the voodoo stereotypes. "Can you give an example?" "Well...for most of the rituals I tend to need to be...well..." Anita then whispered the rest in Booster's ear which caused his eyes to shoot open. "Aaah. Can't very well have that now. I'll take your word for it. Just one question. Why is it that you have a Jamaican-like accent but the only thing you actually say to hint at it is the occasional 'ya mon'?" Anita shrugged in reply. "Beats the hell out of me, mon. Just the way I was created I guess." Booster nodded as he checked some more things off on the list. "Next up...Conner Kent?"
This entire time Conner had been talking to Cassie and not really paying too much attention to the Power Placement, but after his name was called he took flight and landed as if he was expecting everyone to bow to him. "That would be me." Even Booster seemed a little starstruck before he said something. "I take it you have all of Superman's powers?" Conner seemed to squint a little. "Um...not quite. I have the one and only tactile telekinesis. I basically have a field around me that lets me control whatever I want, for example. You have any cars or anything like that to drop?" Booster nodded and pressed a button that caused a car to fall down, to which Conner held up one finger and as soon as the car hit it, the entire car seemed to explode only as everything landed all the car's peices were neatly stacked which even Conner had to admit looked really impressive, which he took total advantage of giving a wink to Cassie. "Whoa...nice power..." Booster said as he marked it off.
When Booster called Cassandra Cain's name, it was a good think he was wearing his suit since she took him out way worse and faster than Empess did. Booster could barely even make out what had happened to him. "...*wince*...super....speed...I see...." "Um, actually she doesn't have superspeed. Well at a metahuman level anyway, she's just...really fast." Tim said, feeling slightly bad for Booster since he couldn't help but to feel that Cass took out some of her frustrations on him. Booster winced again as he sat up. "...ugh...do you mind...if I ask...if your last name...?" "David Cain." Cass answered before Booster could finish the question and caring less about where she ranked made her way off the stage. "Cassandra...Sandsmark..." Booster mumbled out as he began to gradually catch his breath. Conner gave her a slight applause as she went off which made her blush slightly but she did give him a smile in return. "Um.. Booster are you okay?" "...Yeah *sigh* This is actually...pretty normal. Wonder Woman's daughter right?"
Cassie gave a confident smile as another boulder dropped on her which she easily smashed to bits. Luckily not injuring Booster anymore than he already was which made him quite glad. "Jay Andrews..." A bright green light blazed from the crowd of students which made them move out of the way as a blonde boy with a bright green aura shot up like a rocket and landed next to Booster, his aura going back into his ring as he landed. Booster immediately pressed a button and a huge boat fell from the ceiling which Jay was able to easily catch and place down using the ring. "I thought that looked like a GL ring." Booster said with almost a sigh of relief knowing that he would have to test any martial arts on this one. "Made it myself." "Wait...you actually made a Green Lantern ring?" "Yup, it's probably not quite as strong as a genuine one but still." "Hey, making one to that extent is still really impressive." Booster wrote down a little more than he did with the others as Jay went off the stage.
After both Erin Montoya and a girl who just called herself Sweet 16's display of powers Booster was feeling quite better. "Next up, William...Hayes!?" Booster hadn't meant to emphasize the last name but he was caught off guard. Most of the people in the superhero community knew of Ellen Hayes, a crazy woman with a serious evil fetish, and the fact that her obsession had given her the occasional child but he never expected any of them to end up at the school. Booster's shadow began to change until it was a portal which Will came out of with quite the smirk as he recognized the look. "Okay...if you don't mind me asking, William..." "Will, please." "Will, do you...know your father?" Will's smirk got all the more darker as he held out his hand and once again Booster's shadow shifted, only this time Booster fell into it. The portal wasn't open very long as Booster quickly flew out of it and rolled on the floor putting out the couple of flames on his costume. He seemed completely out of it for awhile which wasn't helped by Will's dark smile. "H-h-how about y-y-ou don't do that again! I...don't need to see your powers...." Booster barely got out with a look of total horror as he looked back at the portal which closed. "As you wish." Will was obviously holding back his laughter as he walked off the stage.
"N-next is Greta Ha-...awww hell!" A puff of smoke appeared next to Booster who jumped so high it looked like he was flying. "Greta Hayes is what I think you were trying to say. But don't worry, me and Will have different fathers." Booster took a deep breath as he couldn't help but to bite. "And your father would be...?" Greta was suddenly surrounded by mist and when it dispated while she remained the same beige color, she looked like Darkseid. "GAH!" Booster yelled as he backed up. "Y-you don't have the...eh..." "Omega beams? Of course not." Booster seemed to relax slightly but was still on edge. "Okay so you can manipulate smoke and solidify it if you want...okay...that....all?" Booster warily asked as started to write things down. "Well. I have one more power." Will's expression seemed to be one of almost glee when Greta opened up a portal to the Abyss which sucked up Booster, but threw him back out in less than 10 seconds. While he hadn't been in long his clothes looked like he'd been in the artic for months. "GO! JUST...GO!" Booster yelled pointing off the stage. He might have been a hero and all but Booster looked like he was about to have a nervous breakdown.
Using his suit he warmed himself up and tried to shake off what he saw in the Abyss. "...the next name....is..." Booster paused as if he was looking to make sure the last name wasn't Hayes. He seemingly relaxed as he read the name. "Duo Merquise?" Everyone turned to the short braided girl as she seemed to be concentrating and soon enough you saw why. Out of her back sprang brilliantly bright wings which she used to fly to the stage. Booster had still been a little on edge but relaxed. "Nice wings. Any other powers?" Duo gave Booster a devious smirk, similar to the one that both Erin and Sweet 16 gave before they showed their powers. Walking up to him, Duo put her hand on his chest, though his smile was quickly gone as she uttered those dreaded words. "Your soul is mine!"
After Duo had given Booster his soul back he was a wreck. "THAT'S IT! THAT'S...IT! NO MORE FOR NOW! JUST...GO TO THE CAFFETERIA OR SOMETHING! I'll...finish the rest of you later...." Booster yelled as he slid back down to the floor.
Shinobi - June 12, 2006 02:34 AM (GMT)
(Lol, great stuff, so far. Poor poor Booster...
Yay, TL is impressive!...And I like the allusion to 'White Sun' you made with Shinobi)
Marx - June 13, 2006 02:42 AM (GMT)
(lol Even I felt bad for Booster. And I was wondering if anyone would get that it was a White Sun reference)
Marx - July 16, 2006 07:53 PM (GMT)
The caffeteria was almost annoyingly loud thanks to the sudden 'lunch break'. Though most of the talk was about the last couple of power placement tests. While Booster would be doing his best to forget what he saw the others didn't actually see any of it so most were making their own speculations as to what was in the portals as well as what Rose's power was since word had gotten around that she was Slade Wilson's daughter, a more than capable villain named Deathstroke. But one thing that was consistent is that they stayed as far away from the group as possible. And for the most part the group stayed away from them as well, with one exception.
"Hey Duo!" Will yelled to her as she walked by. But she didn't pay him any attention and kept walking until Will shot a small energy blast in front of her. Turning to him she flicked her wrist causing a scythe with a bright, flaming green blade to appear in her hand and at his neck. Despite the situation he was in, he seemed to be fairly amused as if his life being threatened was an everyday thing. "Nice." And moving so swiftly it was easy to miss it as he summoned a weapon of his own in the form of a sword which knocked the scythe away. "I was merely going to ask if you wanted to join us." This seemed to anger Duo even more as she went for another slash only to be blocked again which ended up turning into a big brawl between the two which quickly caught the caffeteria's attention. The main difference between the two was that Duo seemed angry while Will looked like he was enjoying himself.
"Enough!" A deep voice yelled as two large green hands spread the two of them apart. They both looked up to see that it wasn't just his hands that were green but his whole body. "I know you two are new here, but I'm sure it must have crossed your mind that this wouldn't be accepted. As a matter of fact I know it crossed your mind, you just didn't care. First off, no fighting is allowed. And second no weapons are allowed outside of combat classes so hand them over." Will and Duo both handed over their weapons, Will with a smirk and as soon as he grabbed them, they both vanished. "Hm...mystical weapons I see." The green man said, giving a frown to the two of them. "So what, you're like a Martian or something, greeny?" Will asked keeping his cocky expression. "Yes I am actually. As well as the principal of this school, so you'd do well to remember that. Follow me, and trying to form a portal under me will only embarrass yourself since I can fly." Will and Duo traded looks as Will said what they were both thinking. "Telepath." "Among other things." The principal added as he looked over to Greta and Rose. "Maybe I should save some time and take you two as well."
As the five of them walked out the caffeteria the talking resumed again. "Is he really a Martian?" A girl who called herself D.C. asked Linsday. "Yeah, his superhero name's Martian Manhunter, he's kinda like a Superman with telepathy and shapeshifting that can turn intangible." This sparked yet another conversation which thanks to Conner's input became quite vulgar as they discussed exactly what he could shapeshift. "So what do you think is going to happen to them." Cassie asked indicating the four that were taken out. "Who knows? But I'd steer clear of them either way." A blonde girl named Courtney spoke up. "And why's that?" Anita asked, this part of the conversation piquing her interest. "Well, besides the obvious, it's clear they're going to be antiheroes if not villains." "Antiheroes?" Conner asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Yeah, you see basically there are like, four groups that go to this school. You have the established ones like Conner who have superhero parents. Then you have the newbs, who've just gotten their powers like Anita, you have the normies, like Stephanie. And you have the people who are more villains than heroes, and they totally fit into that category." There was a loud sigh which came from Cissie. "So we're all stereotyped is what you're saying? And I guess that would make you a normie then?" Courtney immediately looked offended. "No! I'm established thank you very much. My father's Stripesy." There seemed to be a long pause as almost everyone was thinking the same thing which Marx was the first to voice. "...who?"
This was put to an end as they were once again called to Power Placement, though the instructor had changed to Ted Kord with good reason as Booster was in no position to continue with it. Luckily there weren't any others who went overboard with their powers before Will, Rose, Duo and Greta returned to the students. "Welcome back, I take it everything went well?" Ted asked as he wanted to at least acknowledge the students who had Booster in almost a fetal position on the floor. "Our punishment is being put straight into level 2 Combat." Ted nodded as an odd smile appeared on his face. "Ah, Kory's class...that'd do it, especially when she finds out you were fighting on your first day. You're just in time though, we're on the last name. Virgil Hawkins?" A boy with dreads made his way up. "Picture's worth a 1000 words." Virgil said cockily as he turned to the neat pile of car parts Conner had earlier made and began moving them around until they almost looked like the car they once were. Ted smiled as he wrote something down. "Electromagnetism, check. And that is the last of you, I appreciate you not trying to give me any long term mental issues." He said giving an obvious look to Will, Duo and Greta. Feeling left out Rose seductively licked her lips, drawing Ted's attention even though he was trying not to look. "Did Principal J'onzz place you?" Rose pouted as she thought back on it. "Yeah, but he just went in my head and found out my power. That was no fun." "My heart bleeds. Anyway, if you'll wait here for a bit I'll be back with your schedules."
Once again the students began to talk excitedly. "Yo Tim, what's wrong?" Conner asked as Tim looked worried and it didn't seem to be because of Cassandra. "Um...that girl...Greta...she keeps staring at me...it's kind of creeping me out." Conner immediately started laughing as he put his arm around Tim. "So let me get this straight. You live with Batman and that hot, little piece of asian buttwhup over there and you're scared of a girl checkin' you out? We need to have a little talk." Tim rolled his eyes and politely removed Conner's arm off of him. "Thanks but no thanks." This caused quite the outburst of laughter from everyone. "Um, any of you guys know where the bathroom is?" A lizard looking guy with wild white hair that had a green stripe going up the middle asked, his appearance causing some of the kids to flinch. "It's over there I believe." Joey stated, pointing it out. "Thanks man. I'm Joey." "Really? Me too. Go figure, heh heh, Whoa!" The lizard-Joey gave Joey a look. "Oh come on, that was a great joke! You know you wanna laugh." The lizard-Joey shook his head as he tried not to laugh as he made his way to the bathroom.
"I wouldn't go there if I were you." Will said as he saw where the lizard-Joey was going. He couldn't tell which was more creepy, whatever the reason could be that Will was telling him not to go or how creepy Will and the other two girls seemed as they looked at him. "Well...you're not me..." He said keeping an eye on Will. "I find it hilarious that he thought that I was the threat. Maybe he'll listen next time." Will said to Greta and Rose as they walked off. As Joey walked in the bathroom, it was soon obvious why Will had tried to warn him as a huge gray fist slammed him against the wall. "Well well well. Look what we got here, Lobo. Some fresh meat." Joey's eyes went wide as he saw the huge guy who'd pushed him to the wall. He towered over Joey, and had white bones poking out of most of his joints. And the other guy with him, was muscular, though not as much as the gray guy and had a white complexion, spikey black hair and what looked tatooed markings on his face. Both of them were dressed kind of like bikers. "I guess we should introduce ourselves. I get the feeling you'll get to know us really well. I'm Doomsboy and he's Lobo." Doomsboy said pointing over to the white-skinned one. "It's a Khundian name. It means 'he who devours your entrails and thoroughly enjoys it'." Doomsboy began to laugh slightly as he turned back to Lobo. "Do you have to tell what your name means to everyone?" "Heh, if your name meant anything near that cool you would to." Doomsboy seemed to think about it before a dark smirk crossed his face.
"Yeah, yeah I would. Now back to the lizard boy. So, whatcha got?" He said holding out his hand. "We can do this the easy way or the hard way. And since we're a little out of practice because of summer vacation we're really hoping you do this the hard way." Five minutes later, Joey walked out of the bathroom looking really depressed before turning to Will's group who gave him a knowing smirk as if to say "we told you so".

Marx - August 20, 2006 02:38 AM (GMT)
Soon the students all got their schedules and slowly began to go to their first class. "So Cassie, what's your first class?" Conner asked to Cassie as they walked down the hall. "Um, History." "Cool, me too. Mind if I walk you there?" Conner offered noticing Cassie's blushing but pretending not to. "Sure! Um...I mean...yeah, you can walk me...if you want." "Ugh! Why don't you two just get a room." Will spoke up breaking the two of them apart as he and his entourage walked through. "Dude! What's your damage!?" Conner demanded protectively as he got in front of Cassie, but this was to no avail since Will had already seemingly forgotten about him and gone into the history class. "Did I detect a note of jealousy?" Rose asked picking at Will only to have him sneer in reply. "You kidding? Hell, you're more my type than her. 'Ooo look at me, I'm a blonde bimbo who'll grow boobs bigger than my head and try to stuff them into a stupidly skimpy costume that's come off the moment I jump.' Did you see the look on 'Superboy's face though? Priceless." Will said with a devious smirk as Greta shook her head.
As the students sat down they looked up to see a blue woman with pink hair up front patiently waiting. "Attention everyone. I'd appreciate it if you'd stop talking and sit down. This is history, and I will be your instructor for the year, Indigo. No need to add Ms. or Mrs. to my name as that would be a moot point as some of you may already realize. And before those few ask, yes, I am an artificial being. But my knowledge of this planet's history makes me more than adequate to teach this class. Are there any questions?" Most of the students were looking at Indigo quite confused since it seemed like she said all of that in one breath, but one of them actually spoke up. "So...are you one of those anatomically correct robots?" A boy with spiky brown hair asked with a cocky expression. "That is a completely inappropriate question, Turk and I refuse to answer it. Are there any relevant questions?"
"I have one." A girl with black pigtails said as she raised her hand. "Liiiike, why do we even need this class? We're supposed to be superheroes right? What good's knowing who won the Battle of Hasting's going to do us?" Most students seemed to be expecting Indigo to be annoyed at the question but she kept the same emotionless expression she always did as she calmly answered. "Believe me Lori, you never know when those facts that now seem useless will come in handy. You seem to be under the impression that this school merely teaches you how to be a good hero. But without an equally balanced alter ego you become as much of a danger to yourself as the villains you'll most definitely face. And besides that I won't only be teaching you basic history, I'll also be teaching superhero history so some of you will be learing about your parents and possibly your grandparents." This seemed to perk up some of the students who were already beginning to snooze.
As the class began the students began to see that this definitely would not be one of their easier classes. While Indigo was more than happy to answer any questions about what she taught, she was so long winded with the replies that most of the students tried not to groan when a question was asked. By the time it was over most of the kids felt like their heads were going to explode. "Sweet mercy I hope every class isn't going to be like that..." Lori said with a loud yawn. "Tough luck, Kara warned me about her. Said that while the superhero history part was fun the rest was a total snorefest." Conner said with a laugh. "Wasn't that bad to me, to be honest." Marx said looking slightly confused. "Of course it wasn't. You, Bart, and Freddie were the only ones who could write down the notes fast enough. I really hope we don't have to remember dates." Human-Joey stated as he rolled his eyes, jokingly nudging Marx.
Things got slightly better in Ted Knight's Astronomy class and definitely a lot funnier in Gar Logan's Zoology class then came the class most of the future heroes were waiting for. "Hello new students. My name is Ted Grant also known as Wildcat and I'll be your combat teacher this year. This class like Magic class for those of you who are magic users, you will have every year you're at this school. Depending on how you do in the class, you'll go to the next level and a new teacher the following year. As some of you might have noticed, some of your fellow classmates aren't in this class and that is because two of them were given the level 2 class as a punishment and a two of them didn't need to be in this class. Now that that's done let's start." Ted said being quite as polite as the other teachers who asked if the students had any questions. "Mr. Grant. How would we know if we belong in the level 2 or above class exactly?" Adam asked with a respectful tone. Ted gave Adam a look and didn't say anything for a few seconds. "You know, you're not supposed to wear a costume yet right?" Before Adam could answer, Ted made a 'come here' motion. "To answer your question step up."
A short fight later the teacher was standing above Adam with his arms crossed as he had Adam stand back up himself. "You got some skills kid I'll give you that. You've definitely got the potential. Are there any others who feel they should be in the next level?" Ted asked not trying to hide his confidence in the slightest as he cracked his knuckles. "Let's rock." A kid by the name of Adam Tyler spoke up with confidence. Unlike with the first Adam, this time Wildcat seemed even more confident. It seemed at first that the kid didn't know what he was doing until Ted threw a punch and Adam put up his hands forming out of nowhere a small brick wall that Ted punched into. As soon as this happened, Adam tried to launch an attack but ended up getting floored with the other hand. "Nice distraction, but you need to work on your execution. Now students, let me explain what I just showed you. While I will probably spend more time with the powerless kids as opposed to say, the magic users this doesn't cut you off the hook. You show me the most powerful heroes and I'll show you a time they were depowered. Next!"
Meanwhile the lucky ones in the level two combat class weren't fairing too much better. "William I swear if you don't start actually looking at my face, I'm going to hit you so hard your vision's going to get blurry do you understand." Koriand'r said calmly but threateningly at Will who didn't seem to be intimidated in the slightest. Personally he'd been bored by her lecture to the new students about how this class wouldn't be easy blah blah blah. If it wasn't for two 'aspects' of hers he wouldn't have been able to stand it. "Hey, it's not my fault you don't cover those things up more." Will said matter of factly rolling his eyes. "SHUT UP!" Both Cassandra Cain and Duo yelled in unison. "Ladies, ladies. Trust me, there's no need to get annoyed by his idiocy. Miss Kori works quite well with those students." Val Armorr, who was a sophmore at the school said with confidence. "He's quite right." Kori said with a creepy smile as she walked up to Will seemingly giving him quite the cleavage view. But like the other students, Will soon found himself horizontal on the floor. Most of the students were barely able to contain their laughter as Will kept getting up just to get floored again, obviously both of them taking advantage of Will's healing ability. Finally admitting he couldn't beat her, at least not now, Will let himself be humbled. "Oh...yeah...well...I bet those things...aren't even real!" Duo rolled her eyes and shook her head. "Oh yeah, great comeback Will." And finally Cassandra added her input. "Idiot."

Lol, great chapter Marx! And yaaaay, Shinobi was in it again!
Oh right...Just a little fact for Shin: He'd probably be one of the students who enjoys Indigo's class. I'm a history buff, and he'st he character that also gets to be one lol.
Marx - August 22, 2006 03:21 AM (GMT)
Ah cool, I can totally work with that later on. Glad you're enjoying it so far. :D
atlantis - August 22, 2006 11:47 AM (GMT)
I am not here to comment on the story but only to prove to Mark that i do read his stuff. And Cassie doen't wear stuff THAT skimpy!! And i agree...Kori's are so not real. teehee
Marx - August 22, 2006 05:08 PM (GMT)
I am truly awed and honored by your readage. :D And actually that was more a shot at Wonder Woman's outfit than Cassie's but lets be honest. If Sins of Youth is any indication Cassie will grow to be quite well endowed and if she used her previous Titans costume, she'd definitely have had "jumping" issues lol.

Shinobi - August 23, 2006 08:03 PM (GMT)
Heehee. Ahhh, good stuff.
Your public demands more!
Btw, you said the DCUniversity was gonna be like a normal high school...so how old does that currently make our characters?
Marx - August 24, 2006 08:10 PM (GMT)
Is it just me or does you yelling "Silence!" always tend to coincide with me being right? ;)
And as for age, I'd say the freshmen are...15 or so.
Shinobi - August 24, 2006 08:28 PM (GMT)
Ah. Works for me.
Sooo, wanna give us some tantalizing hints about what future chapters will hold? For instance: will Shinobi use his ninja stealth to spy int he girls locker room?
Or at Starfire and/or Wonderwoman themselves? (oooh, that would cause SO much trouble if he got caught...but if he got away with it...the bragging rights would be SOOOOOOOOOOOOO immense)
And I can only wonder at what TL's classes will be like...speaking of, I was considering on having TL be fairly capable in a martial art...I think...IT'S TIME FOR A POLE!! to decide what one.
Marx - August 25, 2006 11:35 PM (GMT)
Hints you say? Hmmm, I will be involving another, darker story that I want to do later into it(It's just an idea at the moment but I mostly know what's going to happen in it). So it won't all be fun and jokes, as for Shinobi? Hmm, I actually do have a possible plan for him...though it might not be a good one(as in good for Shinobi *maniacal laughter*) And I totally forgot about TL! I really have to write some of these names down...
Out of curiousity though, is everyone getting the name references that aren't characters on the site?
Shinobi - August 26, 2006 02:54 AM (GMT)
Oooh, sounds interesting.
And i'm not unfortunately. You'll have to explain it to me...
atlantis - August 26, 2006 07:07 AM (GMT)
I only yell silence when you are being naughty. so there. :P
Plus i am always right.
Marx - August 27, 2006 07:22 PM (GMT)
You're mostly right ;) and why can't I be naughty and right at the same time?
Hm, well, I'll 'decode' the two most recent posts of the names. Let's see:
D.C.- Sparx
Lindsay- Aura
Courtney- Stargirl
Stephanie- Spoiler
Virgil Hawkins- Static
Lizard-Joey- Serpenteen
_______________________________________
Turk- Actually if you're a YJ fan you'd get that one.
Lori- Black Alice(totally like the character but not enough to get BOP)
Ted Knight- Starman (Starman? Astronomy? Get it!)
Adam Tyler- Champion(remember he was Fab's original character awhile back?)
Val Armorr- Karate Kid
Marx - November 18, 2006 04:42 AM (GMT)
"Aw man..." Marx groaned as he exagerrated his exhaustion by crawling out of the class. "I'm gonna die..." He further complained flipping on his back. "Oh come on, now. It wasn't that bad." Cassie said helping the speedster up. She'd done pretty well in the class due to her mother's training as did Rose whose powers actually came in remarkably handy but the fact was...everybody in the class got their butts handed to them, especially the cocky ones. "Just give me a few weeks!" Jay said in a boxing stance as he threw some practice punches.
"A few weeks and he's going down!" He said dancing around Ali style. "Right. Says the guy that couldn't beat him with a frickin power ring." Conner teased playfully nudging Jay in the ribs. "Hey at least I wasn't knocked down in midair." Jay teased back as Conner pretended he didn't hear it. Meanwhile in the back the last two remnants of the class were bringing up the rear. "You were very...impressive." Greta said looking intently into Tim's eyes though the look wasn't being returned. "Um...thanks...Greta right?" Tim said looking slightly nervous as Greta seemed to be getting disturbingly close. "Yes, that's me." Greta said using her same calm voice that seemed to put you even more on edge. Luckily for Tim, everyone's attention was drawn elsewhere as a loud boom was heard followed by a wall breaking open and the form of Will skidding across the floor.
"....ow." Will muttered as a chorus of 'Dyyyyyyyyyyyyyamn!' was heard throughout the level one combat class as they looked through the hole that was made and saw Kori looking none too happy with her arms crossed while the rest of the class seemed to be either in awe or doubling over in laughter. "Be thankful I don't have you suspended for that. Class dismissed." Kori said as she turned and walked away. To the students' surprise the holes in the walls began to slowly begin to rebuild themselves, some of the older kids who were getting out of class as well were muttering something about a B13 virus. "What happened!? Please tell me what happened?" Conner asked Duo excitedly who seemed to be in a much better mood seeing Will get the holy Hell knocked out of him. "His face 'accidentally' fell into Miss Kori's cleavage. I think that's going to be my favorite class." Duo replied with an evil smirk as everyone began making their way out of the school. Finally the first day was over for better or worse and everyone was making their way to the busses.
"Need any help with your history homework?" Conner asked Cassie as he caught up with her on the way out. "Well...my mom's pretty good at history so.." Cassie started until Conner desperately clung to her arm. "Then can you help me? I slept through at least half the class! Please please please please please!" Conner begged doing his best puppy dog look. "Okay I'll help you." Cassie said with a warm smile only to be distracted yet again by a loud noise. "Tag! I'll beat you to the bus!" Looking over you could see three blurs dashing towards the busses and when they finally stopped it turned out to be Marx, Freddie, and Bart. But no one could actually tell who got there first. "Psh! Freshmen." Jesse, a third year, said nudging Kara who was busy laughing at her brother's gravelling.
"So, how'd everybody's first day go." Bee, the bus driver politely asked the others as they got into it which got mostly a bunch of various comments except for one demonic one who said it was painful but so worth it. As soon as the bus started once again everyone broke out into varous conversations about how the classes were. Even the antisocial trio of Will, Rose, and Greta were talking about the parts that they liked, though being the only guy Will did end up with a couple of shoulder punches whenever he tried to describe in detail what led to him getting knocked almost unconscious. "I just wanted to see if they were real or not. Might bear some further investigation."
"What's wrong?" The bright pink haired Erin asked the lizard Joey. "...nothing." He said without not really looking at her. "Awww, come on. Don't be so mean to me." Erin said seductively causing Joey to look up. It wasn't the fact that she was hot, it wasn't even the generous cleavage but there was only one thing he could say. "I love you." Joey said almost looking like he was hypnotized. "I know, why don't you tell me what happened?" Erin said with a dark smirk. "Well Will told me not to go into the bathroom but I went in anyway because I thought he was threatening me then when I went in these two bully guys, Lobo and Doomsboy I think they're names were said they'd beat me up if I didn't give them all of my money and would you marry me?" Joey actually got out all in one breath, hearts practically in his eyes.
"Lobo and Doomsboy huh? Thanks for the info." Erin said with a smile as she turned back forward in her seat. "What...the...?" Joey said, obviously confused at his sudden infatuation with Erin. "Its called manipulation man, and I think she's better at it than most." Cody Driscoll chimed in, playfully putting his arm around the lizard teen. "Did you say something?" Erin said only slightly looking back at the two boys who stiffened up immediately. "No ma'am didn't say a thing!" Cody said immediately not wanting to same fate to befall him.

(Yes! That's right, and actual DC University post! Oh and I know the Marvels relations are wonky but overall it makes the story work a little better.)
As the bus let the students off one by one, they each had their own personal Heavens or Hells to return to. Some better than others, some worse and some even painfully normal. But either way, it's also in the privacy of the home that you tend to shed your masks however effective they might be. How's that for a transition? Huh? Huh? Skills!
Fawcett City (...I think that's right...)
As Freddy got off the bus, he waved at the new friends he made as the bus vanished. His smile slowly began to fade as his waving hand lowered. He let out an audible sigh as he looked into the sky as if waiting for something. "SHAZAM!" The youth shouted, causing a huge lightning bolt to strike him impressively. As smoke began to rise off of him and the ground surrounding him, Freddy let out another sigh as he no longer bore his superhero-esque muscular frame. In fact he now looked quite normal, even less than normal now that he had an obvious limp and the crutch to go with it.
"SHAZAM!" The yell caused Freddy to quickly turn around in time to see his sister, Mary deactivating her power as well. But unlike Freddy she looked almost exactly the same short of a slight age difference. "Come on Freddy, it can't be that bad. You seemed to be having fun with your new friends." Mary said giving Freddy a playful pat on the back as she passed him and went into the house. "I guess..." Freddy muttered as he followed suit.
Dayton, Ohio
Lori took her time as the bus got to her stop, giving slight glances at people as she passed them but no more than that before she got off and watched the bus go off to the next stop. Overall she had to say she had a normal day, most of the students hadn't really paid her that much attention. And she'd rather have no attention than negative. She knew she was partially bringing it on herself. She definitely didn't go out of her way to make any connections and her gothic appearance probably associated her with the 'antihero' group she heard the others talking about.
But it was a lot better than her previous school experiences. "Mom! Dad! I'm home!" Lori shouted as she walked in the kitchen and let out a sigh. "Hello dear, would you pancakes like some?" Her mother asked, though it was more a mumble made even freakier by the fact that her eyes were half open and rolled in the back of her head. Looking around the room it was obvious that she'd been making pancakes all day, and probably used up all the ingredients. Most of them didn't even look edible, or even solid for that matter. "...no thank you, Mom. I'm good." Lori politely said back, though her mother still pushed a plate of at least 20 pancakes to her daughter and went back to makings some more going through the motions of cracking eggs even though there weren't any.
"...I promise I'll fix you Mom...just give me some time..." Lori said as she put her arm on her mom's shoulder. "Heh heh...'fix' her? Oh you did...so good the first time... Stumbling around the house as a zombie...she was better off when she was dead...heh heh..." Lori looked over just in time to see her father stumbling around for an entirely different reason as the large and almost empty bottle in his hand showed. "I will fix her and we'll be a happy family again." Lori said through gritted teeth to her father who let out another murmured laugh.
Gotham City-Outskirts
As Erin was let off there was a slight smirk as she looked back at the bus. From what she heard of Doomsboy and Lobo's descriptions she'd have known if they were on the bus, no matter how big it was on the inside. She'd have to catch up with them later. Her face turned serious as she entered her house and immediately was on edge as she paced herself quickly but carefully. "Hello Erin, have a fun day at school?" And old woman who appeared right in front of Erin asked with an almost creepy smile on her face. Erin made a quick, polite bow of her head to the woman, never taking her eyes off and not actually saying anything.
"Give Granny Nona a hug." The woman said with her arms wide. The cautious nature of Erin's actions was realized as a hidden compartment in Nona's wrist revealed a small knife. "That school better not be making you soft!" Nona shouted as she made multiple stabs as Erin who expertly dodged them but was still extremely cautious. It was unlike her grandmother to use such a small knife. But she couldn't really think of that as she focused on the moves so she could dodge and try to mount an attack. For an old woman Nona, moved remarkably quick and wasn't holding back in the slightest with the thrusts and slashes. If Erin didn't dodge them there was no doubt her blood would be all over that room. Seeing that she was being backed into a corner, Erin made a huge flip over Nona just to get slashed on her lower leg. "Split!" Nona yelled, as she made a slash for Erin's head which missed purely because Erin split into two both of which had a much smaller scar on their leg as they attacked in unison.
Even with two of them, Nona was still holding her own, possibly even moreso than before as she attacked Erin mercilessly. Though now Erin was able to get in a little more offense as the two of her switched tactics and fought quite differently. But this was ended almost immediately as one Erin let out a muffled yell as her hand was pinned to the wall by the knife and the other one was punched in the face, that wrist compartment providing a gun. Two shots in the leg and a knee to the throat later, Nona stood victorious and didn't seem happy in the slightest. "Pathetic. You know where to go." Nona growled as she walked out the room. "I...hate...her." Both Erin's said together as one pulled the knife out of her hand and helped the other one up as they split multiple times until there were 7 of them and reformed back into one. As Erin looked at the healing scar on her hand and the healing bullet wounds on her legs, she grudgingly went off to the 'Wind Chime' room.
San Francisco
Duo seemed to be at two minds as the bus came to her stop. On one side she wanted to get away from the bus as fast as possible, she could almost feel Will and his group staring at her even though they currently weren't...at least that she could tell. And on the other side, she knew something far worst was waiting for her outside the bus. "Well...come on, lass. I've got a route to keep. It can't be all that bad now can it?" Bee asked seeing the inner conflict on Duo's face. "You have no idea..." Duo said as she grudgingly got off the bus. As the bus, vanished, Duo knew that it was coming in 3....2.....1.... "Duo! You're home!" Eloise, moving so fast you'd think she was the one with super powers gripped Duo in an almost bear hug. "Oh Duo, dear we missed you so much! Did you have a good day? What did you learn? Did you like the lunch I made for you? It wasn't too much mustard was it? Did you meet any cute boys? Oh that reminds me, you and me have to have a little chat about that..." Eloise continued to rattle off far more questions than even one of the super speedsters at school could answer before Duo could actually inhale enough air from the embrace to answer.
"Eloiiiise!" Duo was able to get out as she began fidgeting trying to get out of the hug. "Call me mom, dear." Duo let out a slight sigh. "Mom...I need air...." Duo let out a deep breath as she was finally let go just to be pulled into the house and immediately pounced on by a little boy. "Kelsey really missed you to, didn't you, Kelsey?" Eloise said with a smile to the little boy who was practically clinging to Duo's waist, which seemed to soften Duo's annoyance as she knelt down. "Hey there little guy. You haven't been getting into too much trouble while I was gone have you." Duo said as she gagged slightly as Kelsey's grip changed from her waist to her neck. "that's what..I'd like to know...young lady." An incredibly meek, male voice said from behind Eloise. Duo let out a sigh as she stood up, being forced to pick up Kelsey with her. "Oh come now Bernard, we can talk about this later. Duo just got home." Eloise said in almost a pleading voice which was contrasted by Bernard's continued meekness which seemed odd as he was obviously trying to be intimidating.
"We got..a ...a call from your principal saying you...you started a fight. Now I won't toler-...tolerate this behavior young lady." Duo had to listen really intently to get everything Bernard was saying as his voice got ironically softer the more he 'yelled', he obviously didn't want to be doing this but felt he had to. "But he started-..." Duo started before seeing the almost humorous expression Bernard had as he tried to stay stern. "It...it won't happen again...Dad." Seeming quite pleased with himself, Bernard gave a nod as he went into the kitchen. Eloise then leaned over and whispered into Duo's ear. "I've never seen him that stern before. I was afraid he might have done something drastic. Like send you to bed with no dessert." Eloise said with a voice of shock as she went into the kitchen as well. Duo let out a defeated groan as she followed suit and mumbled sarcastically under her breath. "No dessert? Oh no, the barbarian..."
D. Beller Orpanage
"Heh heh, so what did you get, Rose? They try to spank you with a ruler too?" Will said with a cocky expression as he saw Rose come into the room with a weird smile. "What? They did that to you too?" Rose asked as she sat across from the demon. Just as with Duo's parents the Orphanage was called about the fight, but unlike Duo's parents they weren't exactly surprised. "Yeah, they started but after I gave them a creepy stare, they couldn't hit me a second time and just sent me to my room." Will said with a laugh. "Creepy stare? That's so boring." Rose said, unimpressed. "Oh? And what exactly did you do?" Will asked, crossing his arms in interest. Rose cleared her throat and looked as if she was about to quote Shakespeare. "Oh yeah baby! Spank me again! Yeah! Harder! Give me that ruler! I've been such a naughty girl!" The two almost hit the floor in laughter. "I bet they never felt quite so 'naughty' giving a punishment. Hey Will, have you seen Greta?" Rose asked when she was finally able to stop laughing. Will replied with a shrug. "Beats me, I don't remember seeing her get off the bus."
Gotham City- Wayne Manor
"So, how was your first day at school? I heard Cassandra was put straight into the level two combat class." Bruce Wayne asked with a smile as he saw his two children come through the door. "I thought it was pretty fun. History might be a bit of a snorefest though." Tim said, returning the smile before turning to Cassandra who simply nodded politely. "It...was fine." Was all she said before she walked upstairs. "I'll talk to her." Tim said with a sigh as he followed her up the stairs. Cassandra must have been really angry considering he got a weird chill up his spine as he followed. But as Tim got to the door, it was not only locked but he could hear the music from outside the door. "...okay...'Leave me alone.'...Got it..." Tim said as he went to his own room.
He began to get changed from his school clothes into something more comfortable since he knew dinner would be soon. He could always talk to Cassandra then. All things considered she did rather well, without being able to read. Once again as Tim changed, he felt more of the chill before he looked in the window to see Greta staring at him with a coy smile. "GAAAAAAAAAAAH!" He yelled quickly covering himself, but Greta was no longer there. Quickly running to the window, he opened it to see if she was still there and there was no sign she'd been there in the first place. No prints, smudges, not even any distinctive new smells. "Guess I'm...seeing things." Tim said as he shook his had and locked the window. Even though she wasn't really there, he still had that creepy feeling and went to the bathroom to splash some water on his face. Feeling a lot better as he wiped his face with a towel, he almost fell over as it wasn't his reflection in the mirror but once again Greta with the same smile. But just as before when he looked again, it was his reflection. "...Oh I'm going to have great dreams tonight...." Tim mumbled to himself.
