Description: I qualified!

Hey!

I am still alive, even though I've been MIA for the best part of a year. But there is a method to my madness and long time LOA, honest. As of this morning I officially finished medical school. I'm legally allowed to practice medicine. * Insert happy dance here*

So, no more cadavers, no more writing essays that don't go anywhere, and no more endless weeks of not being here. So yeah, I'm back and armed with medical knowledge. Mwahahaha. -cough- God, see I've been awol that long, my evil laugh has become a shadow of it's former self. Oh well.

See y'all later, going to go celebrate.

-Lorna

Sweeeet! Uber congrats to you ER! I'd definitely say medical school is a legitamate reason to be too busy to post. And maniacal laughter's like riding a bike, you never forget completely, but there is a slight chance you'll decapitate yourself on a tree before you get it all back. :D

I gotta question: What's the general opinion in England of the movie

'King Ralph'?

You know, the movie with Jon Goodman where do to the incompetence of a photographer the entire royal family of England dies and the last surviving heir is an American...

I think it's funny...

Also...if the Royal family is nothing more then figureheads now with no real political power...what's the point of still having them?

atlantis - June 3, 2006 09:14 AM (GMT)
....I have never heard of that movie ever....
But it seems to be like asking whats the American view on farenheight 9/11. Some people care, some don't.

And What do you mean no political power?! The Queen is the ONLY person who can overturn a decision made by government, plus the Prime Minister has to report to her like x amount of times per month. Its like George Bush having to run everything through his mother.
Add to that the fact that our country earns a vast amount by just having the royal family due to tourism, plus the amount of charity work that they do then I'd say they do have a purpose. Because of the royal family England is on good terms with a fair percent of the world, a major player in the world. May i also mention that a tiny island ruled by monarchy owned a good 2/3s of the world once. Including America.

Since the royal family is German aren't we technically being ruled by people that have no business being in power? ....

Edit: I'm having a French/Israeli moment ignore that comment. ^ Mon Dieu.

Well actually that was kinda just Queen Victoria and her husband...but the main life line of the Royals is British, with some foreign marrages thrown in there. The Windsors are all british so the world is as it should be. St George was actually a Roman, but we graciously allowed him to be British for inspiration :D So its not where you come from, its what you do.

lol, And i thing Bush is more likely to run things through Daddy.

True, I remember my grandfather having told me, when I asked what the largest empire in history was, telling me when he was a child they still used the saying 'The Sun never sets on the British Empire'

And yeah, they had to take King George I all the way from Germany, he could LITERALLY speak no English and had to rely on Parliament(or am I thinking of some other ruling body?), thus increasing it's power even further against the king's.

As for the Empire though, remember, thirteen weak colony's with a ragtag militia lacking most of the basic necessities through simple tenacity (and the French haivng declared war on England) won independence, and eventually overshadowed England's strength.
Although I am willing to admit that Washington lost more battles then he won in the revolution.

And honestly, I had been under the impression that they were just figureheads really.

Oh! Before I forget, who was the Monarch ousted in the 'Glorious Revolution'? I wanna say 'James I' but i'm not sure...y'know, the one who threw the royal seal into the thames, destroyed documents to create a new Army, and 'dissolved' parliament before fleeing to France.
