Code Name: Avatar
Real Name: Malcolm Stapleton
Age: 17
Appearance: 5’10”, Athletic build, Black eyes and hair, wears dark (usually black) clothes and long black cloak. Has very pale skin because he spends most of his time indoors.
Abilities: Malcolm has the ability to control the four elements, Fire, Earth, Water, and Air. He can manipulate these four elements in any way that he pleases but he is only able to expertly control one at a time. If he tries to control more, he loses focus and the manifestations are more a danger than a help. (See Below)
Weaknesses: Psychological: Will do anything to prevent another’s death making him extremely reckless, his control over the elements can be counteracted as he can only control one at a time.
Malcolm also has trouble controlling more than one element at a time. If he tries to control more than the manifestations can get out of control. For example, he can expertly control as many manifestations of fire as he can conjure. However, should he at the same time decide to create an outcropping of rock to throw his opponent off balance, he may inadvertently create a larger outcropping than he intended, or the fire could start raging wild. If he ever tried to control all four, he could created manifestations, but he would be completely unable to control any of them.
History: Malcolm Stapleton grew up in a small well to do town in Pennsylvania. He grew up with his parents, a younger sister named Tasha, and he had three very good friends, James, Peter, and Simon. His family was always very rich, but not in the stuffy manner of the stereotypical millionaire family. Roger Stapleton, Mal’s father kept the family in money be heavily investing in many businesses.
When he was fifteen, Mal experienced a horrible accident when he fell down a cliff in a quarry. His life was saved by a sudden outcropping of rock that he was able to catch. He was surprised by this because the outcropping had not been there before he fell. It had literally grown out of the rock in time to save him. Several days later, Mal was able to put out a fire in his kitchen by willing the flames to die. To say that Mal was becoming terrified of his new found abilities would be an understatement.
His terror reached a pinnacle on his sixteenth birthday when he completely lost control and all four elements went wild in his house. His family and friends had been celebrating his birthday. He blew out the candles the candles on his cake, but the flames jetted around the room. He remembers very little after that moment, but in the end, only Tasha was left alive. (She has been in the hospital ever since)
Mal fled to a small cave in the nearby quarry where he spent six months gaining control over his abilities. He then decided that to atone for his mistake, he would fight so no one would suffer as he and the other families in the town had.
Note: Mal spends most of time in his room. He visits his sister frequently, but her comatose state does not lend itself to conversation. He reads a lot and keeps himself in fit shape for coming fights. He likes the others on his team, but his fear of losing more friends keeps him from being very social. Most mistake his social paralysis as arrogance or ego.
Another Note: The element does not have to be there, but it is easier to manifest if it is present. Therefore, Earth and Air are the simplest, because they are everywhere. Water is also very easy because there is water usually nearby everywhere. Fire is the most difficult, because it is so controlled in our world. However, if Mal is willing to go through a little strain, he can create the element pretty quickly. (I was thinking of having him keep a lighter for easy access to fire, but I don't like the idea)
