Title: Review: Final Crisis
Description: Spoilers as usual

Marx - December 9, 2007 09:00 PM (GMT)
Okay, I figured I'd go ahead and knock this out of the way, while I'm thinking about it. You know how Infinite Crisis had about 4 preludes, 5 if you count 52. Well for Final Crisis...I've honestly lost count of how many preludes there are. I mean, damn, they take a semi good idea and put it on crack...like...heroin laced crack. Anyway, I've read most of them, but I can't be bothered to reread them so my reviews won't be as detailed as they usually are, just a basic...ness of what happened in them. Trust me, you probably wouldn't be bothered to read that many of them anyway. So here we go.

Countdown to Final Crisis

Alright, lets see. Mary Marvel lost her powers when the wizard, Shazam was killed but got them back from Black Adam. But she's being corrupted by a returning Eclipso, who wanted to use her (supposedly) to help her take over Apokalips. Currently Mary's ticked at Eclipso and fighting her.

Jimmy Olsen's suddenly developed superpowers that only activate when his life's in danger. The powers change at random, usually stretching and shooting spikes. He also randomly knows things, like that Clark's Superman, and that Big Barda was dead without hearing about it, things like that. Currently he's in Apokalips helping out someone I can't remember who, got captured and he did as well but was freed by Mr. Miracle.

Hm, what else? Oh all the villains that were part of killing The Flash, have slowly been captured by the Suicide Squad, except for Pied Piper and The Trickster (who actually didn't kill Bart) who've continued to escape them one way or another and just when they were beginning to become friends, Deadshot was able to kill Trickster. The whole time they were escaping, they were cuffed together with these electric cuffs, which turn out to have a self destruct if one of them's dead...sucks to be Piper.

Um, oh yeah! Karate Kid and Una(formerly Duo Damsel, and even more formerly Triplicate girl) from the Legion of Superheroes (but not the Legion that Supergirl was with) is stuck in the current time and Karate Kid's sick with something...OMAC related...not sure, that's actually one of the more boring stories I think, but anyway it's lead to the return of the OMACs and Brother Eye.

I think...that's it...oh! Holly (the current/former/don't really know anymore, Catwoman) and Harley Quinn are being trained to be Amazons. And...that's it until I remember any other storylines.

Oh wait, remembered another one. One of the 52 Monitors wanted to kill the anomalies that should be dead, like Duela Dent, Donna Troy, Kyle Rayner, Jason Todd, etc. and even killed Duela, who turned out to be the daughter of another dimensional version of the Joker, who was a good guy, go fig. Anyway "Bob", the monitor of the main DC universe knows that killing them won't solve anything and that to stop this Crisis, they apparently need Ray Palmer. So with the help of Donna, Kyle, and Jason they're searching the multiverse for him.

Also the Monitors scorned their watchdog, Forerunner (whose kinda Doomsday-ish in the sense that she's a being of survival, in her world, her race was the survivors of a bunch of different dying races, long story short she's an uber badass). And she ended up being recruited by the Monarch to lead his army of Multiverse heroes/villains to kill the Monitors.

And randomly, you'll see Darkseid and Desaad with a chess board where the pieces are the characters involved in this story. Implying that everything that's happening has happened according to their design. MUWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAA!

Review
Eh, like 52, Countdown's cool for what it is, but to be honest after I've read the issues once it gives me no real drive to buy the tpb when it comes out and definitely not to buy the comics every week. It's an interesting enough story though.

Countdown to Adventure

Um, a third of the population in both Rann and Earth is going crazy, in worship of...Lady Styx I believe. This is mainly centering around the 3 that were in space during 52, Adam Strange, Animal Man, and Starfire. Adam Strange is dealing with the craziness on Rann where he was replaced as the protector by this actor guy who doesn't care about protecting life as much as making himself look good and killing things. Starfire's powerless, and becoming an unintentional homewrecker with Animal Man, who blatantly has a thing for her despite being married and having kids. The idiot even had the bright idea of having Starfire live in his house with his wife and kids. Because having a girl you have a crush on living with your family totally makes sense, though I think he's in denial about it.

You also learn a bit more about Forerunner's history and what's been going down with her and Monarch.

Review
This one's also interesting enough. Nothing particularly stands out in my mind about it except for the awesome idiocy of Animal Man, who like Vixen seems to be having fritzing powers lately. Makes me wonder if there's a connection considering they basically have the same power. But anyway, I'm curious to see how far Starfire's going to let it go until she finally say, "Dude, I like you and all...you're cool. But you have a friggin wife and kids! Stop oggling me!" So far she's only yelled at him for protecting her (after all she hates being a damsel in distress), so I'm waiting for it.

Countdown to Mystery

Oo! Oo! This one's easy! There's a new Dr. Fate that was a psychiatrist or something like that so his logic doesn't agree with the helmet all the time. And you also get some insight on Eclipso corrupting other heroes, mainly Plastic Man ironically enough. See? Easy.

Review
Um...yeah...it's okay, but part of me's thinking why this story isn't happening in Dr. Fate #1, unless they don't think this Fate merits his own series yet. Anyway...

Death of the New Gods

Um...the New Gods are dying. Yup that's about it really. But here's the thing, apparently whatever's killing them is literally ripping out their souls. Even Darkseid, who now has part of the Anti-Life Equation, has accepted that they're all gonna die and there's nothing they can do to stop it. But he does plan to go out with a bang. Oh and by the Source Wall(the wall between worlds) theres another wall with all the dead New Gods on it.

Review
Eh, this one's okay too. Not worth me actually buying though. I do love the interaction between Superman and Orion though, they've just been bickering back and forth the whole story, it's pretty funny.

Salvation Run

This one's pretty easy too. Turns out all the villains that have been getting kidnapped all throughout Countdown to Final Crisis have been sent to a far away planet that's supposed to be peaceful, but turned to be...not so much... (Funny...this exact thing happened in World War Hulk...didn't turn out too well for them either). So they all think that the government's trying to kill the lot of them. The core group's the ones that killed The Flash(with the exception of Piper and Trickster of course), though they've now been recently joined by the current incarnation of the Legion of Doom, freshly taken from JLA #15.

Review
This one's actually one of the more intriguing preludes. But it does center around villains which is always an interesting concept. Totally worked for Villains United and Secret Six, lets hope it works again.

Countdown: Arena

This one actually turned out to be better than I expected as well. The basic premise is that Monarch's still building his army and he's making a JLA of sorts, choosing the best of the best of each version of the heroes. But how to choose the best of the best? By having multiple versions of the same heroes fight each other until one's standing. But should any of them try to leave, (as the winning Nightshade did) Monarch will destroy their whole continent or worse. After the winning Nightshade, and Batman(who was a vampire version), one of the Supermans had had enough and plans to do a mutiny.

Review
As I said, better than I expected. Personally I loved seeing 3 Batmans go at it, and a vampire version of Batman killing both of them is just awesome. Totally has me curious of how everything's going to turn out.

WOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! FINALLYY!!! MARY MARVEL KICKS ECLIPSO'S ASS!!!!!!

I was all "WHY do they gotta make her evil!!! (I like mary :( )

As far as the villains on e I agree that it is awsome to see the villains perspective. Oh and the multiverse fights are cool too!!

Marx - March 31, 2008 09:48 PM (GMT)
Countdown to Adventure

Finally the countdowns are starting to end! This is the first one and I'll post about the others after they're over. As for this one. Turns out the cure for the 3rd of the planets that are going crazy is concentrated sunlight which is conveniently Starfire's power...if she still had it. But soon they get her recharged by...chucking her in the sun. And we find out Animal Man's fritzy powers is because he now can channel animals throughout the universe which does make him a bit more badass I guess...once he gets the hang of it. Starfire gets her powers back and cures everyone on Rann and Earth.

Starfire also does put Animal Man in his place about the ogling and makes sure he understands that they're friends and only friends. Um...what else? Oh all this crap was caused by Lady Styx, whose free from...something. So Animal Man appreciates his wife more, Adam Strange is back in his position on Rann with new respect, and Starfire's going back to the Titans.

Oh and Forerunner became the captain of a ship and that ship ended up taking a baby planet somewhere and as a thank you it will now have it's dominant life form be Forerunner's race and she'll be in charge so she's finally got her happy ending as well.

Marx - May 3, 2008 01:22 AM (GMT)
Countdown to Final Crisis

Um...Orion finally kills Darkseid(yeah, that happened in Countdown...not Death of the New Gods...). The Pied Piper ends up in Gotham and because of all the things he's gone through, he's decided his life needs a change and he's officially a good guy. Jason Todd decides that he's not a costumed wearing superhero and is definitely striving hard to be a Raphael-level badass.

Black Mary Marvel is...well...an insanely powerful brat. Think Superman Prime...but with magic. *nods* Even Black Adam turned his back on her and wouldn't even attack back when she got ticked about it. In his own words, "I called you a child, and you reacted like one. As I normally find beating children distasteful, I'll ignore you." Awesomeness.

On one reality, a virus from Karate Kid infected the entire population of Earth and one doctor was able to save his son who is..."The Last Boy on Earth". Brother Eye then makes the doctor guy an OMAC prototype with free will. Yeah...odd little plotline there.

Harley and Holly? Um...nothing really happened with them to be honest... and finally The Atom, Donna, Green Lantern(Kyle), and Forager have decided that they'll monitor The Monitors.

Annnnd that's it. That's pretty much what happened in 52 issues.

Review
Um. Boring as all Hell to be honest. This just would have been so much better as a 6 or 7 issue mini or something. I'm really hoping this is the last of the 52 issue maxiseries. Anyway, there were a few good issues here and there, but nah, no way I'm getting the tpb. Oh as for Darkseid's death, I think I'll quote Blair Butler with, "...that's how he goes out? ....Really?"

The Death of the New Gods

Well, you find out that the one whose been killing all of the New Gods is The Infinity Man. But even more interesting is that he's doing this on the orders of The Source, who set in motion many things, including the reformation of the multiverse. All of this was because he was split in half, light and dark, and the multiverse was the only way to get to his dark half so he could become one again. To do that, he orchestrated all of the New Gods' deaths to pretty much start from scratch on a 'fifth world'.

Darkseid on the other hand, wasn't going to take this lying down. Along with part of the Anti-life Equation, he set up an intricate plan that allowed him to get the power of all the dead New Gods, which was housed on a second Source Wall. When The Source finally came for Darkseid, having all of the energy of the New Gods, made Darkseid more than a match for the Source. But The Source did have a backup plan. He hadn't actually let Orion's spirit go with the others. He saved it just in case and made more or less a solid ghost who as we know from Countdown, will end up killing Darkseid. Before Orion goes after Darkseid though, Superman questions how he could let this happen, and even help the Source in taking out Darkseid. Orion can't actually talk but points to what's left of where New Genesis had collided with Apokalips to show the fifth world, which is one planet that's half New Genesis and half Apokalips, kinda like a yin yang symbol.

We don't know whose going to populate it yet, but it definitely will not be a New God...cuz they're all dead.

Review
While this is definitely more entertaining than Countdown, I gotta say I still wasn't blown away. Though I will say the last couple issues were pretty cool. Though part of me is still annoyed that they killed all of the New Gods. Darkseid frickin rocked as did a good couple of Female Furies, and they'll be missed.

DC Universe 0

Um...Superman's fighting shadow people in the 31st century with The Legion of Superheroes. Apparently something or someone is not only coming for Batman, but it's watching him as well. Silhouettes have given up on Wonder Woman and the amazons genuinely being able to change the world. And now they've brought together they're own team since "Changing the world is not a job for women. It is a job for men." Who look like Spartans.

A couple of villains, including The Black Hand were blown up. We then see a prysm effect of all the different Lantern Corps including the Black Hand spitting out some kind of black goo(pretty sure he's going to have something to do with the black lanterns) The Spectre hasn't realized his full potential. The villains are grouping together(I'm assuming they're back from Salvation Run, which kind of spoils that they'll be alright. Damn you DC and your weird twisted sense of continuity!) There's apparently a new Magma god or something that one of the members is trying to get everyone to worship and believe in.

And the last panel of the comic is a lightning bolt striking across the moon on a red sky.

Review
Okay, this is a setup for Final Crisis so I'm cool with it purposely leaving more plotlines open than a Pirates from the Carribean film. But I know what that last panel represents. The return of Barry Allen.
...
...
I'll just let that sink in for those of you who didn't already know that
...
...
Yeah...so we have Superboy, Bart, and now Darkseid dead. All awesome characters when written correctly. And they're bringing back Barry flippin Allen!? Allow me to quote Bart from my webcomic. WHAT THE #%&@ING #%&@!!!!!!!!!!

All honestly, this nostalgia crap is reeeeeally starting to tick me off. I swear if this is legit, Barry better either be coming with Bart and Kon or he better be the most likable frickin character in DC history for me to not get any further ticked off. Yes Didio...that's a threat. I will have Extreme Expose reform and they'll dance for you for hours on end to that same damn Pussycat Dolls song! Yes, I'll go that far to torture you! (For non-wrestling fans, Extreme Expose are 3 pretty hot girls...that can't dance worth crap. They can't even keep a beat, I swear.)

NM Savant - May 6, 2008 02:00 AM (GMT)
Extreme Expose........as Torture?

......Yeah........okay..........*Mumbles* Crazy person.

Marx - May 6, 2008 03:31 AM (GMT)
...you could actually stand Extreme Expose? I like hot girls as much as the next guy but dancing skill wise...they sucked...so....so bad...

NM Savant - May 6, 2008 04:38 AM (GMT)
Probably becasue of Brooke. She's nice.

Marx - May 31, 2008 10:22 PM (GMT)
Countdown to Mystery

Um...the new Dr. Fate accepts who he is...and the original Eclipso gets his powers back and is doing his best to be good with the evil personality inside of him. Um...that's it really. Not even going to bother reviewing it, it was cool for what it was.

Final Crisis #1

Okay, so here we go. We start out with the first boy meeting Metron who gives him the knowledge of fire. The other prehistoric men are fighting and due to the fire the boy's able to stop it. We now go to present time where Turpin whose trying to find six missing kids and finds Orion whose fairly beaten up...but there's no hole in his chest, nor is he dead...yet anyway. He yells, "They did not die! He's in you all. Fight." then he croaks. And as Orion dies, red lighting starts striking and John Steward's called to deal with the 1011, which turns out to be the GL code for deicide.

Turpin then gets a tip on where the kids might be from The Question in the form of a card that says The Dark Side Club. Jordan joins Steward when they find Orion's corpse and call in the Guardians which make finding whatever killed Orion a priority. So much so that they're sending in the Alpha Lanterns. We now go the the first viewing of the League of Titans (yeah, you heard me right), consisting of Empress, Sparx, and Mas y Menos(yeah...just screams badass doesn't it?). Anyway, within the same page that they're introduced, they're taken out by Dr. Light and Mirror Master.

Turns out they did it because Libra ordered them to find Metron's chair, while elsewhere a bunch of villains were marching up a street and got attacked and arrested 'with zero provocation'. Back at the villains' base, Lex and Vandal Savage(apparently back from Salvation Run...which doesn't end for another 2 weeks. So we'll have to wait to find out how exactly they got off the planet. *rolls eyes*) wonder exactly why they should be letting Libra take over the Society. He simply says he doesn't want to take it away from them, he just wants to even the odds between good and evil.

And in turn for doing what he says, he'll grant every villain their heart's desire. This is kind of scoffed at by Luthor whose about to leave when Libra proves himself by granting the Human Flame's heart's desire by killing Martian Manhunter in front of him while Flame recorded it on a cell phone.

We now go to Turpin finding The Dark Side club led by...Dark Side(not the New God, Darkseid, he's dead if you remember, but a guy calling himself Dark Side who has associates named Kalibak, Granny, Kanto, etc.). Anyway, Dark Side admits to having the kids and giving them to Granny. It's then pretty much implied that Dark Side has the Anti-Life Equation and is using it to control the kids, which he sics on Turpin.

Now we go to the Monitors, where they punish Nix Uotan, Monitor of Earth-51, because of...his negligence and something to do with Earth-51, anyway, his punishment is being stripped of his powers and of being a Monitor in general and making him a mortal. He insists that it wasn't his fault as it was sabatage as he's banished, which turns out to be true once you see a Monitor telling someone that Uotan, his only obstacle is now out of the way. Then you see Kamandi (I think...honestly I didn't read those comics but it looks prehistoric with the Statue of Liberty buried in the background) drawing symbols as a voice says "Metron gave you a weapon against the gods. We need it now."

And finally you see Uotan waking up as a human looking at the TV showing Green Arrow rather ticked at J'onnz's death and saying that he'll make whoever did it suffer.

Review
...
I'm trying really hard to give DC the benefit of the doubt here. But as far as this issue goes...not really impressed. They killed off Martian Manhunter in one page. Darkseid got a better send off than that. And as for anyone who tries to read this without knowing all that much about DCU...ha! Good luck with that and having the faintest clue of what's going on. I read on average about 7 DC comics a week and I still didn't know what was going on part of the time.

And the Dark Side thing is so confusing. My only guess is that when the Apokaliptians died, they were reincarnated or something. Eh, whatever. I'll give Grant the rope, if he hangs himself with it that's on him.

Final Crisis #2

Okay, this starts with a couple of pages of random Japanese heroes. You basically get that a guy called Sonny Sumo is the man, and he soon gets recruited by a guy named Shilo Norman, aka Mister Miracle, whose gathering a team. Oh and he has a Motherboxxx. We then go to the human Uotan who works at Big Belly Burger and is reading every word in the English Language trying to find the magic word that'll make his life make sense again.

Turpin(whose alive with no explanation of how he survived the kids, unless they never actually attacked him of course) beats the living Hell out of the Mad Hatter, who eventually tells him that the kids are in Bludhaven. Guess where Turpin's going? We get a page of Martian Manhunter's funeral, where I found interesting that Superman said, "We'll all miss him. And pray for a resurrection." Nice that they acknowledge that some of these funerals do just lead to the person coming back to life.

Back to Libra, Luthor's still not sold. In his own words, "Hurt Superman, perhaps I'll take you more seriously." Luthor then tries to get Savage to join him against Libra but no one else seems to be for it. Interesting note, apparently Human Flame's 'favor' wasn't free, though we don't know yet what the price is. Meanwhile Batman studies Orion's remains and says that it looks like it was a bullet that killed him, though the newly arrived Alpha Lantern Kraken disreguards this as well as the Justice League as a whole. John Steward finds a bullet that's been buried in concrete for 50 years where Orion died only to get attacked by someone with green contructs and the power ring to go with it.

Not too long after Kraken arrests a sleeping Hal Jordan for the attack. Despite Batman's distrust of Hal, neither him or Superman actually thinks he did it. Superman leaves to make sure Clark Kent isn't absent too long, leaving Kraken and Batman alone. But something seems to have possessed Kraken(at least that's how I'm reading it) and she ends up attacking Batman and sending both of them through a Boom Tube. Turpin runs into a Don King look alike where you see that Turpin has no memory of meeting the kids. The Don King guy leads Turpin to Simyan and Mokkari who've reopened the Evil Factory(Big Belly Burger? Simyan and Mokkari making the evil factory? Me thinks someone's a Superboy fan.). Turpin sees that they have Batman trapped but can't doing anything about him because "someone" is in his head. Batman's last words before his head gets covered with this helmet thing is to warn the Justice League and everyone.

Clayface poses as Jimmy Olsen in the Daily Planet and pretty much blows up the floor that has Perry, Lois, and Clark on it. Lois is burried in rubble, prepare for Superman's inevitable Darth Vader-like yell of "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!" You then go to Wally and Jay who discuss that it might have actually been a bullet that killed Orion. But not just any bullet, obviously, but a bullet that fires backwards through time. It came through time now, then it hit and killed Orion in the past, then went 50 years in the past and buried itself in the concrete. And then in a flash of light...Barry returns with what looks like the Black Racer on his tail.

Review
Marx: Lani, don't know if you're planning on get Final Crisis but...so I wouldn't bother. Kinda boring me witless.
Lani: *no really caring* Oh dear.
Marx: Think I prefer Infinite Crisis.
Lani: *genuinely* Oh dear!

This conversation happened right after I read Final Crisis 2. And I pretty much stand by it. The thing I've heard from most people is that this issue made no frickin sense. But I read one review where the guy was baffled that so many people were confused at what happened. Making sure I didn't miss anything, I made sure to read it again while writing this review and surprise surprise it made a lot more sense the second time around.

Still couldn't care less about the majority of it though. *shrugs* Don't care about Barry coming back. In fact I think it's blatantly stupid. We all know Lois isn't going to die and this was just Libra's way of 'hurting' Superman, or at least that's my take on it. Only part that intrigues me is does he know that Lois is Superman's wife or does he know that she and the others at the Planet are special to him? And is it my imagination or is The Dark Side Club more interesting in every other title but this one? *sighs again* Well...it's just the second issue... Grant, I gave you the rope, and I'd say it's officially around your neck. If by the end of the next issue I'm not at least saying "Okay, that was pretty cool." the the noose tightens and I'm prepping to drop the floor on ya. Hell, I'll even take "Oh, that wasn't so bad."

If the main Final Crisis isn't enough there's going to be at least 6 other spin off titles that bear the name *rolls eyes* I probably won't read all of them, but I'll post the ones I do read here.

Final Crisis: Requiem

We start this issue off with Martian Manhunter's funeral on Mars. Then we go back to exactly how he was killed. First we see that Effigy and Dr. Light are making sure he's constantly under fire and pumped full of more pyro-tranq darts than I could be bothered to count. In short, he's pretty @#$%ed and can't move or fight back as he's carried to Libra. From here, we see what we saw in Final Crisis with Libra stabbing J'onn. But what we didn't see in Final Crisis was that he didn't go down easy. When he saw that he was dying, he lashed out with a telepathic blast that made the villains all see their greatest fears as the 'JLA' barged in 'killing' all of them. Superman punched Lex through the chest, Green Lantern drowned Effigy, Flash vibrated Grodd so much his skin disintegrated from his bones, Captain Marvel choked Sivana with a bunch of worms, Aquaman stabbed someone with a trident, Elongated Man strangled the bejeebus out of Dr. Light...and a woman was making out with Batman(...yeah...I didn't really get that either...)

Anyway after all that, Libra stabs him to the floor, but that's still not enough as J'onn keeps coming until Light and Effigy let him have it full blast. Even then J'onn's not dead yet. And after telling the villains that they'll fail as always, his last words are "Defeat is your destiny, Libra...now and forevAARRGH" And we then see a bunch of JLA members seemingly turning half Martian, and randomly being on fire, leading to this awesome line.

Dinah: Um, Ollie, I'm on fire.
Ollie: *still half asleep* I know, babe, but I'm just too tired.

Wuss! Wuss! I tell you! She's the only other superheroine with fishnets! Fulfill her needs when she wants them! *clears throat* Anyway, Martian Manhunter dies with a smile on his face, and later Nightwing's the one to find him. We go to Hal and Ollie who are having a hard time dealing with it, Hal in particular didn't want to close his eyes because it would be official then and Ollie helped him do it. We then see a bunch of JLAers sleep walking and having a dream of J'onn's history and significance as Black Canary writes it all down in a book, "Mars: A history by J'onn J'onzz" which is put on top of J'onn's coffin (which is next to a pyramid that Superman flew to Mars) and Batman left him a Choco(aka Oreo) on top as well(for those who don't know J'onn was practically addicted to Chocos). The last thing we see is J'onn smiling with his wife and daughter. The End.

Review
Well, if DC insists on killing the guy this is more #$%&ing like it! They gave Superboy and Bart, totally awesome send offs so I always found it odd they just killed Martian in one page, but this was a lot better for someone of J'onn's importance to not only the JLA but DCU in general and it's great for those who don't know who he is and why they should care that he's dead. I also loved that they showed that he didn't just get stabbed and went down, he fought it like a true badass. *tips the hat I'm not wearing*

Final Crisis: Rogues' Revenge #1 of 3

We come to the rogues, composed of Captain Cold, Heatwave, Mirror Master, and Weather Wizard, making they're way back to their hideout for the first time since they killed The Flash, who for the rest of this issue is referred to as "Kid" Flash, I suppose so you don't confuse him with Wally. *rolls eyes* Turns out random kids moved in while they were gone and the Rogues gave them what for and trapped them in a mirror(bet you can't guess who did that.) They're then greeted by Axel Walker, the new Trickster, who they throw the mirror at. When asked what happens if he breaks the mirror the reply is "Seven years a' bad luck. And yeh kill yer mates." To which Trickster replies, "Bad ass."

They're debating on whether to trust the new Trickster or not, but he's busy geeking out that they're not dead or trapped which is what most people assumed. He then makes the mistake of geeking out some more about the fact that they killed The Flash. This ticks off Cap, who points out that they're pretty much screwed now because they broke the unspoken rule of never killing a speedster. As well as the fact that it was a total accident. When they all shot at him, they weren't expecting it to hit, but since Inertia took away his speed, it hit him full blast. They then say that they're about to go into an early retirement.

We then go to Piper, who basically used a bunch of rats to break into a room with a bunch of detectives to tell them what really happened when Flash died. Iris hears a random voice go 'Iris', and Libra is giving his troops a pep talk when he gets a mirror which was a message from the Rogues that pretty much gave Libra the middle finger and said no, they're not joining. Inertia (who'd been frozen in time by Wally, in body, not mind in a constant state of looking at a statue of Impulse and Kid Flash) is struck by lightning and set free again. He then kills all the guards that were in the museum in pretty extravagant ways since the entire time he was frozen he thought of nothing but different ways to kill people.

You then find out that Piper was actually undercover for the Rogues, but there's no one that would actually believe him. Speaking of the Rogues, when they find out that Inertia's still alive, they decide that before they retire, they're going to break they're no killing a speedster rule one more time. Inertia meanwhile was on his way to kill Wally's kids when he's knocked back by Zoom, whose the one who freed him in the first place. Why did Zoom free him? Because after Zoom's done with Inertia, he'll be the new Kid Flash.

Review
Okay, so I'll get the bad stuff out of the way first. The art was really bleh, I've seen worse but considering this is a "Final Crisis" title that they would probably want a lot of people reading...you'd think they would have put more effort into choosing an artist. The end? I like Inertia and all, but if they're honestly going to make Inertia into Kid Flash...lame. That's like making Match into Superboy or Black Zero into Superman, just lame. I'm figuring that it won't work though. And finally, the new Trickster. While I can see people replacing superheroes like Blue Beetle and Firestorm, I never quite get the point in doing that with villains. I don't really have an opinion on him just yet, seems cool enough I suppose...

Since my love for villain based books is well documented, I think I'm going to like these. I take notice that it's only 3 issues when most miniseries are 5 or 6. Personally I'm cool with that since most of the 5 or 6 book miniseries could easily been fit into 3 without rushing things. While I still despise that they killed Bart like that I totally love that there are consequences for actually killing the heroes. And I'm looking forward to what they're going to be doing with it. Oh and Piper's bit in this was pretty random, but I'm willing to see where they're going with it.

Final Crisis #3

We start out with The Questions fighting some people asking what happened to Turpin. She ends up coming across a...beaten up...Nazi...supervillain...person? Doesn't matter, fact is she's pulled away(As Montoya) by someone who knows that she's The Question. So we go to the former Monitor, whose gotten fired from his job for asking guests unsettling questions about gravitons and whatnot. We now go to Jay Garrick whose telling his family and friends, including Iris what happened after the time bullet was fired, and how long story short, Barry's back.

Now to the new League of Villains. Libra has given The Human Flame a new costume with a helmet. And why did I specifically point out the helmet. Because it's playing the Anti-Life Equation, which is the last thought of free will that The Human Flame gets before the helmet's forced on his head by Libra. Lex comes in on the tail end of this. Despite the fact that Libra indeed backed up what he said he'd do(Superman hasn't replied to any emergency calls for almost a day), he still doesn't trust Libra. Libra's response is that Lex has 2 choices. In less than a day the entire planet will be under the influence of the Anti-Life Equation, and Lex can either join from that or willingly pledge himself to the "Master of all evil" (since when he said the day of the apocalypse was at hand, it was spelled 'Apokalips', I think it's a safe bet that he means Darkseid).

We now go to Clark whose by Lois' side. Apparently Perry's on life support, Dirk Armstrong lost a leg, and Adele died(no clue who that last one is), and the only thing keeping Lois alive is Clark using his heat vision. Then Clark makes the dumb move of uttering the words "I'd do anything to take away your pain. Anything." So a random being shows up who knows that Clark's Superman and offers the 'one ultimate chance' to save her, but they have to leave the planet immediately. At the Watchtower, Hal Jordan's being arrested for the murder of Orion. He goes along quietly, knowing he's innocent and hoping the Guardians will see it that way as well. Wonder Woman's sure that Darkseid's behind it as this, Superman's current predicament, and Batman's disappearance are a bit much to be coincidence. Alan Scott points out that they always relied on the New Gods to deal with the forces of Apokalips and if they were going to do it themselves they'd need an army. A superhero draft. When the draft is all together it consists of (and I might be missing some people, the page is full of heroes) The Teen Titans, The Titans, The JLA, The JSA, The Shadowpact, The Outsiders, Animal Man, Green Arrow, Black Canary, Donna, Aquaman, Huntress, and Shazam. There's a green girl who looks like Jade as well...of course, she's supposed to be dead...right?

Anyway, we go to Mr. Miracle and the wrestler dude with Mr. Miracle about to leave when his plane gets bombed and attacked by armored guys. They're both saved by a couple of random metas that are also fans, dubbed...The Super Young Team(Oh God...these team names are getting worse...) anyway, they get away from the attackers because the car can fly...moving along! Wonder Woman's getting into Bludhaven, being accompanied by some of the Atomic Knights and finds something which leads to oddly enough, the funniest line in the comic.

Wonder Woman: What is that ahead?
Marlene: @#$%! You ever seen a man turned inside out?
Wonder Woman: Yes I have unfortunately.

Well...got a chuckle out of me anyway. Any-wizzah! Turns out the one who did it was none other than Mary Marvel...who...as Wonder Woman put it...looks "different". Different as in the costume looks like a mix between her evil one and Power Girl's...and her hair is hot pink...and....shaved completely except for her pig tails...it looks...worse than future Miss Martian's hair...whoever designed that hairstyle needs to be shot...and trampled by rabid Pikachus. Though I suppose if they're trying to drive home the fact that she's gone flippin' crazy that'd do it. Anyway....she kills some of the Atomic Knights and ...and I really feel bad for any Mary Marvel fans, they really @#$%ed her up. Okay okay, I really am getting back to the story now. Mary is now working for Darkseid(spelled that way, not 'Dark Side') and says that they're hiding in human bodies and that in 5 minutes the Anti Life Equation's going global. Mary then breaks a vial with an Omega symbol on it with the intention of making Wonder Woman a 'disease carrier'.

Meanwhile Oracle and Mr. Terrific find out that someone (Simyan and Mokkari) in Bludhaven just sent an email to every single email address on Earth, and it opens itself. Realizing this can't be good Oracle pulls the plug on her computer and orders Mr. T *snickers* to do the same. Moving along, Barry and Wally end up stopping in what I'm assuming is the future. Upon stopping they get spotted by armored women with Omega symbols on their shields.

Review
*puts a pillow on the wall so Savant won't damage his brain too much banging his head against it* Eh, I still can't find myself to really...care about Final Crisis. I suppose it'll be cool to see how everyone's going to deal with the Anti-Life Equation being unleashed on the whole planet... but...this is kinda like the first Incredible Hulk movie...we keep getting Bruce and I want to see the Hulk smashing some stuff already...eh...whatever, maybe once Darkseid's really doing some hardcore attacking and the drafted superheroes clash with him, things'll get interesting. I think the only thing to really get a reaction out of me was Mary Marvel's new look. And that was mostly "What the Hell did they do to her?" Still not the biggest fan of the art either.

Ya know. I was kinda hoping this would be good and thought about buying it. Until I read this and Wikipedia where it read "led by a hideously deformed Wonder Woman ordering their deaths."

Soooo they turned Wonder Woman AND Mary Marvel ugly in one issue. Screw it. I'm not wasting money on it anymore. Instead I'll spend it on this.

*Hires David Cain and Deadshot to assassinate the majority of DC's administration if the next issue doesn't make things better*

Also I'd like to say that Rogue's Revenge is the only FC book I give half a damn about and like the art actually.

......Axel sucks. Just putting that out here and I hope Inertia kills him painfully.

*sigh* I'll probably still buy it out of obligation...damn curiosity...and Requiem was pretty badass actually. But that was only a one shot issue. lol And I'm actually cool with Axel so far...but I do think he should have changed the costume some...and been introduced a bit later.

NM Savant - August 14, 2008 11:05 PM (GMT)
Axel's been around for awhile actually. He showed up back during when Geoff was writing Flash and James had gone "good" since he was brainwashed or something. He's an annoying little thing and it made me happy when James kicked his ass during Rogue War. But yeah.....that costume is crap.

And I saw the scans from Requiem. They finally offed him! I was hoping it would happen sometime......and it's kinda freaky what he was doing when he got killed o_o
