Title: Un-Natural Selection
Description: Can the leaderless Titans pull together?
Shinobi - December 31, 2007 12:41 AM (GMT)
Jay was pacing the meeting room at Titan's Tower. He'd sent out a signal to all available Titans to meet here. He hadn't said why though.
"Issues need to be adressed." He said, tryin to bring authority to his voice, practicing what he would say to the others. "We don't have a leader anymore...we NEED one, otherwise we're just some big superpowered headless Chicken..." HE groaned.
"A public speaker you are not Jay..."
-----Meanwhile, in the Asteroid Belt seperating Jupiter and Mars-----
Another man, very much like the Teen Lantern in appearance was pacing back and forth, in a room not so different than the Titan's meeting chamber. However, he had very different things on his mind.
"How fortunate for me...they're at their lowest ebb in power...and my creation is nearly complete..." This young man, while baring a similar physical appearance also sported an odd visor across his eyes, giving an odd almost Terminator-like glow over where his eyes should have pierced, along with that his outfit clearly denoted alleigance. To the Sinestro Corps.
He walked calmly to a terminal and began typing in various combinations of buttons, all the while glancing up at a large glass cylindar with his 'creation' in it. A bone white woman, with protrusions of bone along her hands, knees, and several other joints, and white hair flowing in the liquid suspending her.
"It's time to wake up...Doomsgirl."
NM Savant - December 31, 2007 12:47 AM (GMT)
Joey stared at Jay and watched as he paced. He had only just began Active Titans Duty and was perplexed at the Few there was. He looked at Jay and began to sign "So your trying to say you should be leader?" He admitted to himself he was not sure about the Lantern yet.
Shinobi - December 31, 2007 01:13 AM (GMT)
Jay looked at Joey, it took him a few moments to figure out what the other Titan was asking him, in fact it involved him consulting a book on American Sign Language to do so.
"Me? Oh HELL no. Jay said, shaking his head vigorously. "I'm just trying to get everyone here so we can vote for the new leader. Personally, I'm either going with your sister or Dr. Fate." He declared.
mad-libbs - December 31, 2007 01:52 AM (GMT)
Rose wandered in a the last bit of the conversation, smiling as Jay had thought she would make a good leader.
"You sure you want me to lead? Think of all the things I'll make you do with that kind of power," she smiled suggestively at him. Though he was right, they did need some form of normal in this place. Sliding her arm around his waist she poked him in the ribs playfully. "Don't think you'd be a good leader huh? I think you'd do just fine."
Shinobi - December 31, 2007 01:56 AM (GMT)
"You act like you couldn't get me to do most of that stuff anyway." Jay teased her a bit, letting out an 'oof' when she poked his ribs. "And yeah, I think you'd be FAR better suited to lead us than I would. You have experience running tactics, live combat and so on. I'm just our resident science geek." He chuckled.
kidflash3 - December 31, 2007 07:29 PM (GMT)
Static came down from his room after pondering the events that had just happened: Harm and Wonder Girl had both betrayed them! "But the Blood Syndicate must have went through that some times!" he yelled to no one in particualar, but then he remembered that the syndicate was like the titans maybe better! he got up and walked to the living roomwhere Teen Lantern, Jericho and Ravager were he nodded a 'sup' and sat down near the group and thought while ravager adn Lantern were flirting, he looked up when jay sai dthat he was a science geek and smiled as he said "guilty as well!"

(For those curious this is the only part I'll have so the break still counts. :P)
The Asteroid Belt
"It's time to wake up...Doomsgirl."
The female figure now dubbed Doomsgirl's eyes slowly opened as she answered instinctively. "Yes Master." Her memory was a bit foggy, as she slowly began to look at herself out of curiosity.
Shinobi - January 1, 2008 01:10 AM (GMT)
Titan's Tower
Jay grinned a bit when Static also claimed to be a 'science geek'. "Seems to be a popular career move amongst Superheroes. What with all the mad Scientists on the loose eh?" He looked around the room though, taking a few mental notes as his grin faded a bit.
"Seriously though guys, we need to vote on a new Leader...do you wanna wait and see if any other Titans show up, or try putting it to a vote now...with everyone currently in the room as a candidate?"
The Astroid Belt
The man smiled as Doomsgirl addressed him as 'master'. It was good to know the mental conditioning he'd attempted during her gestation paid off.
"These surroundings aren't important." He instructed, waving his hand a bit to gesture at the metallic walls of their room, although several were taken up by computer monitors and generators. It seemed as though wherever they were, good chunk of it was hollowed out.
"We do however, have a mission to accomplish." He offered a carniverous smile to his creation as he stated this. "Get your barings quickly."
kidflash3 - January 1, 2008 02:30 AM (GMT)
Static smiled as Jay said exactly what he was thinking "well, I understand but if you got it why not use it?" he then got serious and said "I say we should wait for some titans but assume that everyone here is viable."
mad-libbs - January 1, 2008 11:11 AM (GMT)
"What with all the mad Scientists on the loose eh?"
"Please don't remind me. That Robotnik wannabe still creeps me out." Untangling herself from Jay, Rose went and sat down, noticing what everyone else was noticing, that they were down in numbers.
"Well, I say we give them a few more minutes then decide on our own."
Marx - January 1, 2008 02:33 PM (GMT)
(I sent a PM to the other players, hopefully they'll join in soon.)
The Asteroid Belt
"Get your barings quickly."
"Yes.." Doomsgirl spoke as she shook off the grogginess, giving one last passing look at her surroundings as she stepped down from where the tube was and to her creator.
Shinobi - January 1, 2008 09:56 PM (GMT)
(Good lad Marx!)
The Tower
"I'm actually surprised. He isn't usually that dangerous... Jay commented idly as Rose sat down. "I'll put something together for secret ballots eh? Don't wanna cause some weird fracture in the team because people can't agree who should be in charge." Since the whole 'Harm' incident, Jay seemed to have been trying to keep himself as busy as possible. Examining the remains of the machine, which was slow going seeing as it had been frozen then shattered. And now making ballot boxes.
The Asteroid Belt
The Sinestro Corpsman watched his creation with a mix of facination and pride as she stepped down from the tube. "Good girl. First we must send a new recruit to Sinestro...after that...I will complete my own goals here. He told her simply, walking over to another array of machines and computers. "It should be interesting to see how he fares in the Corps. At one time he actually conqured this planet."
EnigmaticReign - January 3, 2008 10:48 PM (GMT)
(I did as I was told! -points at PM- )
Punctuality wasn’t one of Mia Dearden’s strong points, yet somehow she’d managed to drag herself to the Titans Tower the minute the brief message had been sent out. She was late, yes, but so were plenty of other people, and since she technically didn’t actually live at the Tower anymore (despite the wonderfully untidy room she still stuck a claim on.) it was perfectly feasible for her to be…awol. But that’s beside the point, the point was, she’d turned up. Decked out in red and yellow too, just in time to hear a rather unsettling statement for that matter.
"I'll put something together for secret ballots eh? Don't wanna cause some weird fracture in the team because people can't agree who should be in charge."
Eugh. Oh god, leadership. How people managed it, she’d never know. All that responsibility and need to be overwhelmingly patronising, was just wrong. So very painfully wrong. “Guess it’s too late for me to put in a vote for a republic eh? Benevolent monarchy it is then.” So, alright, Speedy had a few odd political views herself, but in her little bizarre world where everyone vomits sunshine, the idea of casually ignoring the need for a leader was plausible; hell, even practical. So with a self affirming nod, the teen shut up and casually leant against the wall. She was there, what more did they want?!
Shinobi - January 4, 2008 01:42 AM (GMT)
“Guess it’s too late for me to put in a vote for a republic eh? Benevolent monarchy it is then.”
Jay looked over at Speedy, thankful someone else showed up bringing their count so far to five. Still not up to their old numbers, but certainly enough they could legitimately be called a 'team' again.
"Unfortunately Speedy, even a Republic needs a head, even if they're just a figurehead." He pointed out. "The question then becomes, who should be the Teen Titans' figurehead, or legitimate head?"

The Asteroid Belt
Doomsgirl raised a curious eyebrow. "Who is that?" Another realization struck her as she looked slightly to the side. "And...would it be out line for me to ask for some clothes." While Doomsgirl wasn't cold or anything, she'd be lying if she said she wasn't feeling just a bit self conscious.
Shinobi - January 4, 2008 02:45 AM (GMT)
The 'Master' looked as though he hadn't considered this particular problem when he was making her.
"...I suppose a woman of your...assets...strutting about in such a condition could be problematic..." He agreed, stroking his chin. "You will need to make due with these until we arrive on Earth. After that, just grab something that looks like it will fit you. He instructed, holding up a yellow power ring, and pointing it at Doomsgirl, soon enough she was clad in a form fitting yellow jumpsuit.
NM Savant - January 4, 2008 04:06 AM (GMT)
Joey looked over the People gathered and got a bad feeling. "So we're voting for Leader? Then i'd say either me or Rose. Rose has the Capabilities and strategy skills like Jay said. And I have experience from being in the Titans for a long time."
mad-libbs - January 4, 2008 05:01 AM (GMT)
Rose leaned back in the chair, looking up at the ceiling, as Speedy walked in. "Nice to know some people still like to come here." she looked over at the newcomer. Rose'd been thinking lately that she hadn't seen hide nor hair of Marx, Duo or Greta and was starting to get the suspicion that they had left after Will. It was all very disheartening. Seeing Speedy was a good sign though.
"Well, I'm too lazy to lead, and from what I've learned, the most reluctant to lead usually is the best leader." Rose gave a sidelong glance at Jay. Although, her brother did have a point, he'd done all this before.
"Y'know, it's still a democracy if we vote, Speedy." Rose said passively, looking back up at the ceiling at nothing in particular.
EnigmaticReign - January 4, 2008 11:04 AM (GMT)
"Unfortunately Speedy, even a Republic needs a head, even if they're just a figurehead. The question then becomes, who should be the Teen Titans' figurehead, or legitimate head?"
So much for the idea of avoiding leadership altogether. Technically, she could see the logical point of view, she just preferred to ignore it. This was why she signed up for Young Justice instead, there was barely a semblance of authority there, but with the Titans it was complicated.
"So we're voting for Leader? Then I'd say either me or Rose. Rose has the Capabilities and strategy skills like Jay said. And I have experience from being in the Titans for a long time."
Mia gave an awkward looking smile. Being bossed around by the child of someone who constantly tried to murder your family was a bit awkward, but seeing as how dysfunctional the teams ended up anyway she could probably cope. “Joey’s probably got the better idea of how to run a team.” Well, that and the fact that a certain bird had told her Ravager had an awful habit of getting stabby when she’s annoyed.
"Y'know, it's still a democracy if we vote, Speedy."
“I guess. But considering our track record for leaders having mental & moral breakdowns, I figured it was safer just trying to neglect pinning that luxury on the next victim candidate.”
Shinobi - January 4, 2008 06:42 PM (GMT)
Jay simply attempted to ignore the implications of Rose's comment of unwilling leaders and where exactly she had looked as he spoke up. "Well, i'd say most of us here are fairly comfortable with the way our morals work...and besides, it isn't like we can work in a state of 'glorious anarchy'...or maybe i'm just spoiled by the Corps when it comes to authority." He shrugged.

Doomsgirl gave a quick nod as she gave a passing glance at her new, but temporary clothes. "Thank you, Master." No longer distracted, Doomsgirl's attetention went immediately back to business. "Where will we find the new recruit?"
kidflash3 - January 6, 2008 09:10 PM (GMT)
Static looked at Joey adn after decifering what he signed "I don't think that just because you've been on te team longest gives you credit, I mean look at TL he's been doing a good job and maybe rose has great tactical skills, it takes more then tactics to be a leader."
mad-libbs - January 7, 2008 06:38 AM (GMT)
Rose stopped gazing at the ceiling long enough to glance over at Static.
"Okay then Sparky, what does it take to be a leader?" Rose, having been restless as of late, was starting to feel combative.
Shinobi - January 7, 2008 08:43 PM (GMT)
The Tower
Jay wasn't certain if a fight was about to start between Static and Rose, but decided to attempt nipping it in the bud as quickly as he could.
"He probably means it takes a certain amount of charisma and people skills too. After all, you can't order around people who don't like you very easily now can you?" Granted, it was a poor effort to stop the fight, but Jay wasn't known for his, as mentioned, charisma and people skills.
The Asteroid Belt
"Our target is called 'Dominion'. He once possessed the original Yellow Power Ring the weaponeers gave to Sinestro and managed to briefly conqure this planet...he was eventually thwarted by the Teen Titans...but still, he should prove a worthwhile addition to the Sinestro Corps." He explained, moving to yet another machine. "Now, come Doomsgirl. As soon as we finish THAT mission...the real fun can start."
Marx - January 7, 2008 09:05 PM (GMT)
"I can't wait." Doomsgirl let out her first expressive...expression as she gave a dark smile in anticipation for what was to come as she followed to the next machine.
EnigmaticReign - January 8, 2008 01:12 AM (GMT)
Now this; this was precisely why Mia maintained that they didn’t have a leader. The argument as to who was going to follow on was practically a suicide mission in itself. She was watching silently, the fact she was near the door being a small comfort considering the circumstances. Jay did deserve some recognition for attempting to delay the first glimmer of a fight though, and given the chance, the blonde archer would probably give him some major kudos in the form of cookies.
But that didn’t really help with the leader situation. At this rate, they may as well abandon conventional options and compete in an act of blood sport! Weight shifting from one foot to the other, the teen sighed, before those baby blue rolled in their sockets. They were supposed to be a team, right? Well, didn’t that sort of mean they weren’t supposed to contemplate acts of indifferent violence in order to find a leader. Or was Mia just in the wrong crowd for that?
“Glorious anarchy might end up safer than choosing a leader….” Trailed off the HIV Heroine as she mused on the situation. How the old team managed to cope with the issue of leadership she’d never know.
mad-libbs - January 8, 2008 07:44 AM (GMT)
Rose looked back over at Jay as he tried to keep her from starting a fight. He had a point though, what good were giving orders if no one listened. Sighing and looking back up at the ceiling again, Rose had an idea.
"What if we take turns? Being leader, I mean, for the time being. It wouldn't be fair I guess to pick one here and now only to find out down the line that we picked, well wrong isn't the right word I suppose, but it's essentially what it is."
infernoassassin - January 9, 2008 04:44 AM (GMT)
(i'll be posting soon and hi everyone marx thanks for the PM.)
Shinobi - January 9, 2008 10:55 PM (GMT)
The Tower
"Actually...that's a pretty good idea, Rose." Jay said, eager to agree. "It would definetely let us all try the 'leadership' role out, see who can inspire the others more...and which of us is in general better suited too it."
The Slab
Once Doomsgirl had come into the effective range of his machine the man activated it, there was a bright flash of light before the two found themselves standing inside the prison facility known as 'The Slab'.
"You keep the guards distracted Doomsgirl. I'll locate our new recruit." He had already estimated the situation. Even if they were unnoticed in their arrival, by the time he had broken Dominion out of Prison and sent him to the Anti-Matter Universe the guards should notice something wrong. He wanted them too. He wanted an alarm to be sent, and he wanted the Teen Titans to respond. So much the easier for his plot.
As the yellow clad villain dissapeared down a hallway, one prison guard did turn into the room Doomsgirl now occupied. "Wh-who are you!? What are you doing here!?" He demanded, pulling out his sidearm.
kidflash3 - January 12, 2008 06:52 AM (GMT)
Static smiled as well "I concur Doctor!" he said to Teen Lantern "And I think you should start first!"
mad-libbs - January 18, 2008 06:40 AM (GMT)
"Well then that settles it!" Rose sat back up and put her hands on the table. "We take turns and you green bean, are going first. Now we just have to wait for-" The alarm went off, alerting everyone of the latest threat to mankind. Rose stood up and smiled a sardonic smile.
"Ah I love how this job is so predictable. Never a day without something to do."
Shinobi - January 18, 2008 07:30 AM (GMT)
The Tower
"Yeah, that it is..." Jay admitted, rushing towards the monitor too get the information on their 'emergency'.
"....Oooh, this is bad..." He gulped, the screen displayed all the information that was really needed. According too the man asking for help prisoners were being 'liberated' from The Slab by a 'Yellow Green Lantern'.
Marx - January 18, 2008 11:29 PM (GMT)
"Wh-who are you!? What are you doing here!?"
Doomsgirl smiled as she looked over the guard. "I am Doomsgirl. And I'll be killing you and anyone foolish enough to wonder why you're screaming so loudly." Dashing forwards Doomsgirl moved faster than the guard could reach for his weapon and surely enough a loud scream rang out of the room. She could hear the footsteps running to her position well before they got there, and once they did she was already throwing away the guard that found her like a rag doll. "Whose next?"
kidflash3 - January 19, 2008 05:47 AM (GMT)
Static ran to the computer whewre he saw the alert of a 'Yellow Green Lantern' looking at Jay he said "One of your homies? he then said "I thought you guys were 'Green' Lanterns!"
Shinobi - January 19, 2008 05:13 PM (GMT)
The Tower
"No...that's no friend of mine." Jay said shaking his head. "If they're who I think...they aren't really friends for anyone...the only question is who they'd break out. The Slab is a prison for some of the more dangerous Supervillains...so yeah...everyone be on maximum guard in case this turns into a full scale breakout." He was already turning to get too the teleporters before remembering that it appeared he'd been voted as first leader 'tryout'...so he should really try and give instructions.
"Ah...and remember, we're a team, stick close by until we have to dispurse, don't let your guard down and above all the main objective is minimizing the damage to the facility. Not many of the criminals incarcerated have a means to leave Antarctica after all. So just keep people alive and restrain who you can."
The Slab
It only took about fifteen seconds from the guard's scream for the hallway to fill with new guards in three rows, the first row kneeling, the second row crouching just above them, and the last row standing, all had a variety of firearms pointed in Doomsgirl's direction.
"Man down! Open fire! Open fire!" One of the guards, obviously the one in charge ordered, and soon a barrage of bullets were firing at Doomsgirl.
Meanwhile, a yellow glow was lighting up the hallway further down.
"Now...where are you?" He asked rhetorically, passing the cells of various criminals walking further down, seeking out the solitary confinement area.
Marx - January 19, 2008 05:54 PM (GMT)
A devious, sadistic look crossed Doomsgirl's face as the barrage of bullets bounced off her like rainwater. "Correction. Men down." She'd be lying if she didn't say she wasn't enjoying this. The power was unbelievable. It was like watching everything moving in slow motion as she launched herself in the air and went specifically for the one who ordered the others to fire, giving the mother of all backhands. "Neo, eat your heart out." She quipped, though with her slightly foggy memories she wasn't completely sure what that reference meant.
mad-libbs - January 20, 2008 08:11 AM (GMT)
Jay seemed to be doing good so far, Rose thought. Though heading to the Slab was not her favorite idea, it being cold and all, a chance to get into some real fights was sounding like a good idea. Checking the extendable bo staff clipped to her belt, she gave Jay a mock salute and headed for the teleporters. The bo staff had been her primary weapon as of late, seeing as she was still wary to use the katanas Harm had left her. But today she might actually have to use them, what with the types of criminals that were kept in this maximum security prison. Feeling the familiar tingle of the teleporter wear off Rose felt the cold rush of air and heard the thundering roar of gunshots in the distance.
"Sounds like the party's already started. Time crash it."
NM Savant - January 20, 2008 08:30 AM (GMT)
Joey wondered about the Yellow Lantern it spoke of but was distracted by the Teleporter and the sudden change in surroundings. "Wow.....someone forgot to pay their cleaning bill"
Marx - January 20, 2008 05:44 PM (GMT)
As Doomsgirl continued her distraction she realized her clothes were beginning to flicker. 'I guess he's starting to focus...on something else...' She thought getting slightly self conscious again as she looked at the last of the guards which happened to be female. "You. Give me your clothes." She ordered. "W-what?" The guard stammered. "Give me your clothes and I'll let you run away." Needless to say there was soon a barely clothed girl running out of the room screaming as Doomsgirl put on her new duds.
kidflash3 - January 21, 2008 04:50 AM (GMT)
Static walked over to the transporters and looked at Rose before she left, slightly worried but shrugging his thoughts as he also reappeared in the Slab "I think a few Bang Babies may be here" he thought but he smiled as Rose said "Sounds like the party's already started. Time crash it." "Couldn't have said it better myself" he said to her as he floated on his disc.
