Title: Posting Schedule.

True Believer - April 5, 2004 10:29 PM (GMT)
We had some problems in the past (The most notorious being the one in which Chris decided to quit the RPG) duo to the fact that we do not have any kind of order when it comes to posting in the storylines.

That got me thinking and I proposed a posting schedule. I'll tell you (AGAIN) why I think that'd help the storylines:

*Not having to post in a hurry would help us writing more elaborate post, making the Story Arcs even better.

*No one would got left behind.

*We wouldn't have to wait for everyone to be online to post.

*The stories would be way, way more organized.

Anyway, since we're starting a storyline already, I beg you to vote quickly so we can try out or not the new idea.

Schedule, yes... Definitely. It would let us write A LOT more then just the short posts we have to post just so people know we are there. I pretty much gave up on the Road Trip cause I was so far behind. I am sure the schedule will help all.

I agree that a posting schedule could be useful. It would save all of us alot of trouble especially with those who get angry because they get left behind in a story. Also it makes certain everyone gets equal posting.

But the only thing I worry about is the stiffness it might create. Character reactions will be delayed and story developement might be slowed down considerably. Especially if we have 10 or 12 people, who don't post more than once every other day.

If we do this, we should also set up a cut off rule. Because if we don't and a player NEVER comes online and posts when it is their turn, then the story is stuck in limbo permenantly. What I recommend is a two day limit. If player does not post within two days of their turn, they get skipped.

Yeah, I was also worried that some fights and arguments would be annoying to do, how can two people fight if there's 8 posts in between them, it'd be kinda confusing. Same with certain conversations. That's why I voted no anyway.

Jakazul - April 7, 2004 04:20 PM (GMT)
I know I'd post more with a schedule, I know I need to post more, I know I need a schedule, I know... Well, that's enough of what I know for now, but I think you can guess how I voted.

Now for the 10 cent question: At what point do we close this poll and make the final decision on the Posting Scheduel? I'm thinking it pretty obvious that people at least want to try the new posting system, so we might as well start it sooner rather than later. (Of course the problem we have is we don't know if all the characters are going to get involved in the story...)

True Believer - April 7, 2004 05:45 PM (GMT)
I think we should start right now!!!

Robin - April 7, 2004 05:48 PM (GMT)
Agreed. Now this is what I'm thinking so far. We go in the order of who posted first.

Marx
Atlantis
Shinobi
Robin
Falcon
Radio XYZ
Jakazul
True Beliver
Fan Boy

And so on... Next person new person to post follows Jake and etc, etc, etc...

Thoughts? Questions? Comments? Cash?

True Believer - April 7, 2004 05:50 PM (GMT)
Add me and Fabricio to the list. We're joining the story.

Robin - April 7, 2004 05:54 PM (GMT)
done.

The_Dark_Wolf - April 7, 2004 06:13 PM (GMT)
I'm iffy about it, but willing to try. As long as we have a clear idea of whos going when no problem.

Robin - April 7, 2004 06:21 PM (GMT)
For now, I suggest we only attempt the Posting scheduel in 'THE BIG SWITCHAROO' since that is the core story on the site right now. Let's not set up scheduels in the smaller stories until we are all positive that this is how we want the RPG to be set up.

This is only going to be a trial run for now, gang. So we can test out this system, and see if it works and so on.

Meaning if anyone has any comments, questions or complaints about the system, please post them here and let us know.

Walker Boh - April 7, 2004 06:24 PM (GMT)
YOu can add me on to the list

Robin - April 7, 2004 06:33 PM (GMT)
you are on the list. Check the primary list in the RPG area, dude.

Walker Boh - April 7, 2004 06:36 PM (GMT)
So is the list in effect now

Robin - April 7, 2004 06:44 PM (GMT)
yes. Starting from the last person to post we are going in that order.

Walker Boh - April 7, 2004 06:50 PM (GMT)
Oh I get so now its Fan Boy, Marx, Atlantis, et cetera.

Zatanna - April 7, 2004 10:01 PM (GMT)
OK.. I'm posting here for various reasons. First of course is cause I wanna get on this scheduel so I can post. Another is to offer some suggestions that might work better since it appears according to the story that some people are chaffing over the idea of posting scheduels.
One way to fix this is to have people talk more outside of this board. There are a million and one programs that allow people to do an Instant Message-type thing and it's FREE. Also E-mail works great too. This way people can literally hook up and talk about what they want to do or are going to do. E-mail would allow them even to do a combined post, were maybe both people put a section of the story where they intereact together. Of course this would mean that the two people would have to be basically the only people in the story at that particular time, so it'd have to be planned well and OKed with others.
Another idea is to split up the story more. We have teams. We can seperate the teams off so that there are a limited number of people on each team. With this, that means there are less people to post on one particular part. This is a little complicated when there are major cross-over stories, but it'd work well if all the Teen Titans people who are at Titans tower all know they're together (or getting together) and they can all interact with each other that way.
Other than that, I suggest some curtisy. If you see someone has started posting on a story and they haven't gotten to it yet. Drop them a line. E-mail, IM whatever, let them know that you'd like to post ASAP and give them time to get back. There is no way everyone can be on at the same time or that everyone has the same amount of time to devote to this. I know I've been lax, but it's hard when two people who have been on all day are posting back and forth and I've been busy with classes and what not. So just, take it a little slower and give people a chance to get back instead of marathon posting.
This of course is just some suggestions, that might aid with the scheduel or may be able to replace the scheduel all together if it doesn't work.

True Believer - April 7, 2004 10:12 PM (GMT)
I still think the schedule is a good idea. I mean sometimes to or three people get together and they start posting and when everybody comes back there're like 15 posts to rea and you're way, waaaaay behind.

But if everyone loaths the schedule some much, we can forget about it. We can do the other way, just remember how messy Road trip (and other storylines) got.

Robin - April 7, 2004 11:28 PM (GMT)
You've been added to the list Z

Well I don't know what to do. The system is slow going, we've already established that. And since we designed this so we don't leave people behind, I guess the story is stuck.

Obviously Shinobi won't be on until late tonight, if at all. I can't go until he posts. So I'm signing off. I'm far too tempted to post, and I know that I shouldn't do so.

Sigh... Damn my conciounce.
