Untitled - Chapter One

It was entering twilight. The sky was a magnificent wash of red and yellow, with hints of pink lining it. The sun was an enormous ball of fire brightening the skies with its illuminating luminescence. Faint scatterings of stars were beginning to show their existence in the darkening skies. The hushed chirping of both, birds and crickets were breaking the silence of the surrounding areas, the latter becoming the more dominant of the two. There was a still wind traveling the lengths of the lands. Placeibo was becoming a quieter and safer place.
In the forests below the darkening skies it would seem, as nothing was amiss. Yet there was evidence enough to assume there were creatures either running away from something or chasing something. The trees parted in the creatures wake, and the near-by animals went for cover.
“Come on let’s go!” Yelled a stunning young woman back to her friend. The young woman then quickly looked back, her hair blocking her vision slightly as it stuck to her skin. She saw her burly friend trailing behind her.
“I’m on my way!” He called back. His muscles tightening as an eerie feeling crept into him. He wasn’t sure why, yet he was unable to escape the sensation.
The latter of the two then came to an abrupt stop, while the other continued on chasing her prey. He looked to his left and stared at what appeared to be nothing, save a gathering of trees. What was it that made him stop? He could not understand it. It was like a force compelling him to stop and search the mysteries of this quaint spot. He moved slightly closer and began to see forms taking shape before him. They were slight blobs at first. Something others would brush away right off the bat. But it made him stop right then and there. He could tell it was powerful, but its intentions were not evil.
-Alaron-
Alaron heard the voice in his mind more than anything. Alaron was flabbergasted. How could this creature, this being know anything about him much less his name? He felt like running. Like going in search of his friend. Wanting any comfort he could get his hands on. Yet his legs did not seem to be getting the message. He then felt a hand reach out for his shoulder. That was it. The shock he obtained from this sudden motion gave him the energy he needed to run. To run as fast as any Sumont could, his long, dark hair resting on his shoulders. His face was a mixture of fear, anger, and bewilderment
He was sure his best friend was not to far ahead. He figured she could answer at least some of Alaron’s questions. He then saw his friend ahead. Not to far off. Alaron looked behind him, nothing. He then looked back and whilst turning his head noticed many plants, and hidden among them the unusual forms. He quickened his pace then. He wanted to get away from the Forests of Liria as soon as possible. He was closer now much closer. Close enough to see his best friends’ fragile form. Then out of nowhere the creature they were hunting came back for revenge.
It, then, struck her, its razor-sharp horns cutting into her velvety skin, the horns protruding from her front. Alaron was able to see blood immediately escaping her body and pouring onto the floor. He then ran as fast as anyone was able to, not just as fast as his form allowed. He wanted to save her already doomed body. She was silently falling to the ground, the animal long since gone. He reached her finally. He picked her up and placed her onto his lap.
“Krisen!” He said holding back a tear. He looked at her, and saw how much pain she was in. The horns must have punctured vital organs. He could not hold in his sadness any longer. He began to sob. The tears were flowing freely from his eyes. He hadn’t thought this would ever happen.
“Alaron… I waited for you. I saw you were gone so I waited. I wanted us both to take out that stupid old Boar. I guess it wanted to do the same.” She said with child like innocence and a faint smile. She said it with such sincerity that all Alaron could do was cry even more.
“No! I want you to stay…. I want you to stay here with me… I…” He was unable to continue. He quickly looked up and saw his surroundings change. What was happening? He could not understand. What was happening? He heard a faint voice off in the distance. It sounded familiar, but he could not put a face to it. Who was it? His eyes then shot open. They were closed? What had happened?

“You were sleeping this entire time.” He heard a sweet voice call to him. It was his mother, Faira. She had come to wake him from his nightmare.
“Dear, you’ve awoken in a cold sweat are you alright?” She said slightly worried.
He didn’t want to worry her, “Yes I’m alright. Its just so hot out here.” He said with a faint smile. She seemed to go along with it, for she continued on for why she was really here.
“Well hurry up and get dressed. Krisen and Reh are downstairs. They wish to speak to you.” She told him hurriedly.
“Krisen she is alright”
“Yes dear, why wouldn’t she be” She said confused.
“Oh it’s nothing. Who else? Reh. Who is Reh? Wait you mean REH. The Riliner” He was even more confused then before. What was he doing here?
His mother than smiled, “Yes dear now hurry, get dressed and come downstairs. They have been waiting for a while”

PREVIEW

A beautiful woman with lengthy gray hair than calmly said, “Aw… But you don not know that for sure. For all we know their could be another source, which the magic can use to sustain itself, or perhaps magic hasn’t a thing to do with its longevity.
“Stupid wench! Are you so dense? Can you not see what is right in front of your eyes. How else do you think does the Earth stay so prosperous? What? Do you think it is miniscule things such as the sun? Or maybe the plants can survive on their own.”
She stood up then. The insult was far too much. He was losing his calm when it was unneeded. She was summoning her magic then. Its powerful essence radiating from her body. Her eyes took on a red sheen. Her magic was all about now. “Perhaps they do. No one has gone into extensive research to try and explain it. Why do you not try. Hm? You are so concerned. Why not go out and figure it out?”

Its not much but I thought it was the perfect piece from chap 2

Here is what I finished of Chap 2. I wouldnt post it at all if I wasnt cleaning my comp.

Alaron did as he was told, getting dressed and swiftly traveling the stairs to reach his two visitors. One more surprising than the other. Questions raced through the min of Alaron. All unanswerable, all causing more and more confusion. He could not understand why he had had such a vivid dream. It was so clear, so real, and yet so illusory. He was so flabbergasted. Then there was Reh. What in Trinka’s name was he doing here. He was a Riliner after all. The protectors of the lands of Placeibo. He should have been traveling the land searching for evils, not loitering in the house of a lowly Sumont. He could not understand any of it.

Alaron burst through the door, which blocked any view of the person in question. Seconds later he saw him, Reh. He looked so ethereal, yet he was still there. He seemed to be contemplating a million things at once, but still so well focused on the subject at hand. He had a black cloak, which hid any and all traces of flesh. His hairs were deep blue clusters of protein leaving the shelter of the cloak. The look upon his face was so… So unnerving, yet so welcoming and comforting at the same time.

“Alaron!” Said a beautiful young woman as she walked up to him. On this evening she bore a vest that curled up upon her full chest and underneath was a shirt, which stopped half an inch above her belly button. Both of which had a rugged look to them. Her pants were tattered and torn as if she had traveled a long distance and fought off many monsters. All of which had earthen tones to them. Alaron after a quick look at her current status smiled gratefully at the welcoming call and the heart-warming smile. “You will not believe what has happened. There is so much to tell, but Reh said he wanted to tell you.” She was so glad to see him. As if she hadn’t seen him two days ago. She then did the unbelievable. She kissed him, hard, on the lips. Neither pulled away. They both embraced the unexpected happening.

A man than, seemingly off in the distance, but clearly not 8 feet away cleared his throat. The two quickly stopped their lip lock and looked over to the otherworldly man. He stood up and his cloak fell down over his body, making the illusion of him being a body devoid of limbs. He then held up the arm, which was invisible before and pointed to the chair. Apparently he wanted all to be seated.

“Now that we have all be reacquainted I must tell you what I know and what we have gone through and then you must promise me to do the same me.” He looked into Alaron’s eyes as if beckoning him to agree.

Alaron could do nothing but nod. He looked into the eyes of Reh and saw many secrets being withheld from the world trying to break free.

The sun was setting around the walls of Krim Hall, the home of the Riliner and the safe of all records concerning Placeibo. There was currently a meeting being held within the walls of the keep. All of the Riliner were discussing a significant issue.

A young man with red short-cropped hair slammed his hand on the wooden table, which was before him. “Do you not understand!? The earth’s magic is depleting. Soon there will be none left. The world cannot sustain itself without it.”

Reh then felt it was his turn to chime in. The look on the other Riliner told him it was time. “Stop your senseless bickering. You know as well as I do that it is all for naught. We all must figure out this mystery on our own. We must not rely on our Earth to help us this time. We must do it ourselves.”

“They both sat down then, “Yes, I agree.” They both said in unison.

Reh stood up and then looked at the other Riliner, each in turn. “I believe it is my duty, for I am the Rhan Cem, to go out and solve this mystery. No… No objections” He said as he held up his hand stopping others from speaking. He then sent his own magic into them, taking away their voice momentarily. “You all do not have sufficient power to undertake this journey.”

“Nor do you” Said a radiant woman with violet hair.

“Ah yes… This is true. But I will go and search out those who have the ancient magic’s.”

“I thought those magic’s left this world after the Ancient War.” The woman said.

“Magic cannot be destroyed or expelled it can only go dormant or through changes. You all know that. Those magic’s have lain dormant for all of these years. I have sensed it these past few years. The magic’s have awakened. The users haven’t a clue what it is, they just think of it as an extension of themselves. One hasn’t a clue of its existence, another fears it. I must go out and gather them.” He said it smoothly as if he had practiced time and time again.

“Who says magic is what’s needed” Said the gray haired woman.

“Yes I have thought the same thing. Which is why I am going to seek out help from a Prophet, which is a friend of one of the magic wielders.”

“It seems you have thought this through thoroughly. Nothing we can say can stop you. Then you must be on your way. No one will stop you, I assure you. But what shall we do?” The red haired man asked.

“You all shall go about your business as usual. Travel the lands aiding those in need and such. I do not want my absence to be a hindrance in the work of the Riliner.”

They all gazed into his eyes and stood up in unison. They all brought about their hands and raised them into the air. The temperatures in the room then immediately dropped, frost quickly growing in the corners. The open doors and windows then quickly slammed shut giving the room a living kind of feel. Each Riliner then began to glow a color. Each color different from the last. There color than rushed swiftly to the bottom of their body were it stayed for the duration of two minutes. After which it turn into a powerful fire, which circled their bodies rising an inch with each passing ring. When the fire reached the arms it stayed there while the Riliner all brought their arms down and pointed them towards the center of the table. The fires then rushed down a, now opened hole, which seemed to go on forever. “Rime Ren” They all called out.

“Glad to see you are all with me. I will not disappoint you.” He said overjoyed.

“Let’s hope that Placeibo will be able to sustain itself for a short while longer with the Rime Ren giving it a slight armor enhancement.” The young man with flaming red hair added in.

“Reh Seyd.” A new woman called over to the Rhan Cem, as she walked through the wooden door. Everyone looked over at her with curiosity reflected on his or her faces. She was the only one who was allowed to call him by his full name. The other Riliner were too afraid to do it and come out unscathed. She was different however. Reh and this woman were companions for quite some time. No one had known his full name till she came in for when you were a Riliner it was unnecessary to use your entire name.

“Aw… Hello Brin Sim Ta. Nice to see you.” He lied accompanying his fib with a faint smile.

“I was listening on the other side of the door. You should really reinforce it with your magic. You never know who is listening.” She said directing her voice towards Reh, a broad smile growing on her face.

“If you recall, Brin, the last time I reinforced it you tore it down with your own magic.” He said it with an exasperated tone, “Now if you were listening, as you say, you should know I must be on my way.”

“Yeah, I know. Your going to the Prophet first, right?” She didn’t seem to care for an answer. She already knew what the answer was, “Well I am going with you.”

Reh brought about his hand and waved it towards the other Riliner. They seemed to understand what the gesture was hinting at, for they immediately stood up and walked out of the room.
