Title: Current Plot Musical Themes And Inspirations

Falcon - April 15, 2004 03:26 AM (GMT)
I recently read in DC comics guide to writing(Great book by the way. 'The Levitz' paradigm has helped me pace plotting better in my stories) that writer Devin Grayson: One of the writers that helped on No Mans Land and the guy who wrote for Nightwing, chooses out a soundtrac for the issues of his comicbooks. He uses music to inspire his wrtings.

My question is this: What songs do you think of when your working on the rpg stories? (Side stories or mainstream)
Kinda like character themes, only these are storline themes.

Well like I mentioned earlier, every character has a theme song. A song that discribes our characters. For Robin is 'I'm Still Here' by by John Rzenick of the Goo Goo Dolls

Click on the link below to either check them out or add a theme song for your own character...

As for story themes... Well it needs a plot line to have a soundtrack that matches it. So I couldn't say. It depends on the story, I guess.

i agree with what alan say's...but therre is a char. in marvel comics he was part of x-factor and alpha flight his name was wildchild and ever time i read a comic with him in it i thought of the song "u think u know me" edge's theme song from the wwf/wwe for some weird reason...

Meh, true....but sometimes when listening to music(Mostly 80's stuff or something like Seal or Googoo dolls or cher(Don't hurt me!)) I come up with my best plot lines for fanfics.

Well....lessee:

'Finding my Way Back' by michele Branch kinda inspired Finding my way(Big surprise there, eh?)

QUOTE
I used to get away with so much
Now I can't get away.
I even thought that it was simple
to say the things I wanted to say.

And you told me.
Everything I wanted to hear
And you sold me
Now I don't know how I should feel.
I should know me
And baby, you'd think I knew better.

I'm finding my way back to you.
And everything I used to be
And waiting is all I can do
Until you find your way back to me

What if I said what I was thinking
What if that says to much
When everybody's got a reason
I feel like giving up.

And you told me.
Everything I wanted to hear
And you sold me
Now I don't know how I should feel.
I should know me
And baby, you'd think I knew better.

I'm finding my way back to you.
And everything I used to be
And waiting is all I can do
Until you find your way back to me

Until you find your way bak to me(repeat three times)

I used to get away with so much....

Love me when I'm gone by three doors down

Name by Googoo dolls
QUOTE

And even though the moment passed me by
I still can't turn away
'Cause all the dreams you never thought you'd lose
Got tossed along the way
And letters that you never meant to send
Get lost or thrown away

And now we're grown up orphans
That never knew their names
We don't belong to no one
That's a shame

But if you could hide beside me
Maybe for a while
And I won't tell no one your name
And I won't tell 'em your name

Scars are souvenirs you never lose
The past is never far
Did you lose yourself somewhere out there
Did you get to be a star
And don't it make you sad to know that life
Is more than who we are

You grew up way too fast
And now there's nothing to believe
And reruns all become our history
A tired song keeps playing on a tired radio
And I won't tell no one your name
And I won't tell 'em your name
I won't tell 'em your name
Mmm, mmm, mmm

I won't tell 'em your name...

Mmmmmm

I think about you all the time
But I don't need the same
It's lonely where you are come back down
And I won't tell 'em your name

ect.

Right now, the theme for falcon is 'Finding my Way Back', but it's subjec t to change.

Lost is a big theme for my characters, as well as myself, I think. When I write Dark Wolf I usually listen to 80's rock primarly Guns and Roses.

For my other charcaters such as my human ghost character (darn you niccelodean for stealing my idea from my mind) It's alittle more humane like Match Box Twenty's "more than you think you are"

Oh? Bet you can't guess which song inspired "In The End". :P

I find my greatest ideas in the song "simple and clean" by utada hikaru and Any evanescence songs. I don't know why but simple and clean is really inpirational.

I don't usually listen to music while I'm writing RPGs. I find it moderately distracting.

On the occasions that I do, anything by Billy Joel usually goes well.

Philodeliakarta - August 5, 2004 03:03 AM (GMT)
I don't usually listen to music while I'm writing. When I do, something like Pavement or Modest Mouse playing at a low volume in the background isn't so bad.

Well, what I write the most of is songs and poems and listening to music while writing songs is something I find kind of hard to do, except when I'm parodying somthing or writing to the same tune and then I rewind and go back so much that it barely counts as listening.
ANYWAY, aside from that, when writing other things, the music I listen to usualy does inspire me. A lot of times I even think of songs while I'm writing.
Sum 41 and Electric Six can make good action music...
Anyway, I like to listen to music when I write. Sometimes I listen to books on tape while I write. :P
And all hail bad 80s music! Bad 80s music is good.
And don't tell me that was oxymoron-ish. Microsoft Works is an oxymoron.
