Title: Joint Stories Board?
Jakazul - April 22, 2004 04:19 PM (GMT)
Ok, I'm not sure how many of you were actually here on the original site also, but many of you probably remember old YJUTT and the Joint Story Board.
For those who do, continue reading anyway.
For those of you who don't, read on.
The joint story board is a board similar to stand alone RPGs with their own sets of rules, characters, etc.
In the joint story board you can create a mini-RPG where people can select and play a character even if they don't on YJUTT or everyone can play all the characters or you can even play someone from Marvel or yourself.
The good part of joint stories is, they're much like RPGs, but they can be about anything and you can create and play as many of them as you want.
The bad part of joint stories is that you can get sucked in and not RPG as much.
On the other hand, with the new "one post per-RPG storyline a day" rule in effect, some of the bigger posters out there (you'll know yourself if you're suffering from post deprivation) will finish that one post and reeeeally want to post more.
The joint story board allows you to do this.
So, feel free to discuss or comment, but basically... Do you want it or not?

I think it sounds good and it seems like it could only help increase the enjoyment of the forum, with people being able to RP more.
Marx - April 22, 2004 07:56 PM (GMT)
Oh heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeells yeah! I love that idea, as one of those people with posting deprivation, and I'm posting in like 4 stories at the same time. Anyway I voted yes....kinda obvious since no one's voted no yet. THE CRAM GOD, HAS SPOKEN!
Jakazul - April 22, 2004 08:22 PM (GMT)
LOL So it is posted, so it is law.
Sano - April 22, 2004 09:17 PM (GMT)
Well, I have no idea who the cram god is, but I'm gonna vote yes anyway cause this def a sweet idea. SO SAYS THE ALMIGHTY AND POWERFUL ME! B)
Robin - April 22, 2004 09:27 PM (GMT)
Wow, Sano's a part of this site for a couple of weeks and already he has an ego. I'm not sure if we should be worried or proud...
Frankly I'm not sure. I'm just worried that well end up having the problems with lack of RPG posting if we do a joint story board. I know players have posting deprevation, but it was either do the one post per day rule or have 12 angry players yelling at us once again.
And what's this about playing characters from outside DC?
Isn't this a DCU board? Cause if players are playing Wolverine in the Joint area, you know they're going to be bugging us to play Wolverine in the regular RPG. :(
And thus this are the thoughts of YOUR LORD AND MASTER, THE MIGHT PHOENIX GOD AND SLAYER OF ALL THINGS THAT GO SQUISH IN THE NIGHT (Including Sano and Marx, BWAHAHAHA!!!): Alan
Sano - April 22, 2004 09:32 PM (GMT)
Be afraid, be very afraid. And if players start complaining that they can't play Wolverine in the main RPG's just tell them to shut their yaps and go find a Marvel RPG. I'm sure someone somewhere runs one. And, and, oh I can't think of anything else, just squish me with the newspaper already. ::[help]:: :P
Jakazul - April 22, 2004 09:34 PM (GMT)
Well, I kind of have the same feelings, but with the posting rule in effect I don't see how it could be much of a problem in that respect.
About posting with non-DC characters though, you do have a point. I kind of meant that for crosseovers, etc. but I didn't make myself very clear.
You do bring up the point that we may need to have some rules if we create a Joint Story Board, but I'm still leaning towards creating one.
Also, we should be proud of Sano... 'Long as he doesn't revolt and rise up 'gainst us. ;)
Robin - April 22, 2004 09:36 PM (GMT)
Nope... not afraid. More like mildly amused. >patts Sano on the head partonizingly.< Good boy...
And sure, it's easy to say they can't play Wolverine, but if they are allowed to on one part of this site, they'll expect to be able to play him on the other part. No matter HOW many times, we tell them NO. Understand?
Sano - April 22, 2004 09:39 PM (GMT)
>>Pants approvingly, tongue hanging to the side<<
Then how bout go with a joint stories board where you can either use your own character or another DC character. It seems like the idea would still fly without the added Marvel characters. Jakazul is right, you just need some ground rules to keep people inline.
Jakazul - April 22, 2004 09:46 PM (GMT)
Which is why I'm the admin and you're the psychotic minions.
*dodges as things are thrown at me by fellow admins and members*
Ok, ok...Maybe not...
But anyway, I really don't see why we can't lay ground rules and have it work. We really don't need Marvel anyway or this'd be Mutant Just Us, Teen Titans and one of you poor losers'd have to be Bucky or The Amazing Bag-Man version od Spidey. And wouldn't you just hate that?
Anyway, I seriously think it could be cool with a few rules. Not too many people have complained about the rules for the main site and they're a lot more strict than these would be, so I can see no reason they'd complain about these.
Robin - April 23, 2004 02:37 AM (GMT)
All right, I guess we can at least try this out.
But I agree we need some definent ground rules. Otherwise we end up with problems and then the b*tch-fest begins again. One rule might be setting an order for the players, just so they don't step on each other's toes while playing. Not like the Posting Scheduel we tried out. This would be an informal thing, just so characters do get confused and stuff.
And of course, players must post in the primary RPG area.
As for the Marvel thing, I just think this site should remained a DCU board. Simply because this is dedicated to the Teen Titans. If we introduce Marvel characters, it's like Jake says, we won't be a DC site anymore.
If people want Marvel characters, well that is what the Marvel boards are for.
And as for the stirctness of the rules... well once again we must remember the great b*tch-fest a few months back in relation to posting problems.
I'm still not sure about this, but I'd be willing to give it a shot.
Jakazul - April 23, 2004 02:52 AM (GMT)
Seems fair enough to me.
Like you say, if it turns out to be bad, we can easily put a stop to it.
Sano - April 23, 2004 02:52 AM (GMT)
The great b*tch fest, cyber-sex pervs in the chat room, sounds like I managed to miss out on all the "fun" stuff.
Jakazul - April 23, 2004 03:12 AM (GMT)
Awww... Poor Sano. You should've listened to the commercial. Call within the next fifteen minutes and get a free pain in the butt and cyber-slut along with your membership.
Before that we just had a borring old terrycloth bathrobe.
Now we're trying to think of a new package, nobody liked the b*tch-fest. (Only one or two liked the cyber-slut for that matter)
Sano - April 23, 2004 03:20 AM (GMT)
Damn my lazyness, oh well, I'm too lazy to worry about it. As for the new package, you could highlight the fact that the inmates are running the asylum, thats always a big draw. Crazy people in large numbers can do wonders. :D
Jakazul - April 23, 2004 03:34 AM (GMT)
Dude, you're genius.
Insane, obviously, but genius!
And so true too.
Sano - April 23, 2004 03:42 AM (GMT)
Thank you, thank you.
What can I say, the line between genious and insanity is very thin and I tend to hop from one side to the other. Its like a trampoline.
Jakazul - April 23, 2004 03:49 AM (GMT)
Trampolines are fun... I want a trampoline for my birthday! *people stare* What? Can't a highschooler get a trampoline without being gawked at anymore?

Sano - April 23, 2004 03:52 AM (GMT)

You can have whatever your little heart desires. ::[imws]::
Robin - April 23, 2004 04:04 PM (GMT)
Sano... do we need tranquilize you again? (holds up tranq gun) Gee... I seem to be getting alot of use out of this thing lately...
Jakazul - April 23, 2004 04:38 PM (GMT)
If you wear it out within ninety days do you get a free refund?
Robin - April 23, 2004 05:21 PM (GMT)
Naw... But they do give me 50% store credit off my next purchase! :P
Sano - April 23, 2004 06:50 PM (GMT)
Don't worry Robin, that first tranq dart was good enough, I'm ok now. Still insane, but with an official day pass to leave this time.
Robin - April 23, 2004 06:59 PM (GMT)
Worried? Why would I be worried? Because of people like you, I'm the best tranq-gun operator on YJUTT. (shoots sano with another tranq while blindfolded)
See what I mean?
(Steals day pass from Sano's unconcious body) Well... I should be able to make some money off this... Who want's a day pass? do I hear $10?
Sano - April 23, 2004 07:02 PM (GMT)
(ffffffffffitt)
Awww, not aga...............
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Jakazul - April 23, 2004 08:46 PM (GMT)
That seems a good place to close this poll. 'Specially since I've already created the board. :P
