Title: YJUTT - Behind the Insanity
Description: A chilling look at things gone by...

Tall:Order - July 22, 2004 10:49 AM (GMT)
Believe it or not, this wild and sordid tale did not start on a planet far,
far away, it didn’t start in a secret lab or in a men’s rooms toilet.

It started in a Comic Book Store in ‘98. The Year that the world was
Blessed for the first time with the Adventures of three Teens; Robin,
Impulse and Superboy.

YOUNG JUSTICE!

That First spectacular issue was the field in which the seeds of insanity
would be planted and grown. Our money acted as water keeping the soil
healthy and ours eyes acted as nutrients for the soil, keeping it powerful.

Imagine that. No-one in the World could have ever assumed what this
comic would create. How many of us could honestly say we sat back and
looked at that first issue and say ‘Wow! That issue was totally dope! In
the year 2003 I’m gonna create a site that’ll spawn all kinds of dope
madness!” Of course you can’t. No-one says dope.

But either way, this dope site was created. But it took the ending of a
Great Series for it to happen.

April 2003.

The news struck. Young Justice and the Titans would be cancelled and
Rebirthed in the form of Outsiders and Teen Titans, a feeble publicity
stunt by DC to boost the amount of attention on their new Cartoon series
called the Teen Titans. A Cartoon show that was figuratively made for
YJ. Surely, Chibi forms and Wacky theme tunes was more suited for the
Wacky adventures of YJ? Surely they deserved their own series? Surely,
Superboy, Wonder Girl and Impulse are more recognisable than Cyborg,
Raven and Starfire?

You’d think so, huh? NOPE.

YJ were shafted. Their final send off taking the form of a poorly written
three issue miniseries that did them no Justice, Young or otherwise.

July 2003

All Respect for DC was gone, the YJ fans scattered into the wind like so
much belly button lint, some stayed on for the Teen Titans, others ran
far and wide, seeking refuge in their fort of YJ Back issues.

Whilst others sought a leader. Someone who could lead and organise
them, and shape them into a true force to be reckoned with.

They’re still looking.

But one Girl (and her Friend) decided that a change was neccessary. That
Girl (and her friend) recieved a Divine Message from A Higher power, the
Higher Power told her “I am the Night.” Then she threw her Batman
comic aside and picked up her YJ comic and smiled lifting it up high.

Then with all of her mighty computer skills she created a site. Yeah, it
looked kinda crude, it was disorganised, had a tonne of spelling mistakes
and a rather disturbing odour, but it did what she wanted. It respected
and praised the old while accepting the new....

She created the single greatest site on ProBoards today, and with that
site she wielded a tool that would surely create Carnage throughout the
land...

She created Young Just Us, Teen Titans, the Title was missing a comma
but the incredible power behind it allowed other to look passed it and
helped them realise the incredible potential.

The History Starts here folks, sit back and enjoy the ride.

It all Started on July 22nd....

Yeah. So, July 22nd and the site opens. Messages go out all over the web,
From the Old YJ Boards, to E-Mails sent from DC Youth, to Hear say from
Friends. Either way thousands got here, thousands heeded the call and
flooded towards YJUTT.

Slight problem, however, the site could only take so many guests and so
a few hundred of the people got those stupid error messages and so they
went away. Only Five members managed to get through. First the Girl’s
Friend joined, Jakazul.

Next another friend Mary Marvel joined. Guess who she played as?
Go on, guess. I’ll tell you, she played Darkseid. Psych. She played Mary
Marvel....man, what a dumbass.

Then The Insanity level blossomed. Next came Christopher McGirr,
pervert expert and overall freak, he would become a mainstay at YJUTT
until the Rebirth. He played Conner Kent, Superboy, and he
would proudly use him as forces against evil.

Then came myself, the Voice over guy. *Steps out of the shadows* But
you can call me Matt. I asked to play Superboy but some bastard took
him already so I became Slo-bo, I also became the first person Rach’ told
off.

Then finally came the last member of the YJUTT Mainstays. ‘Atlantis’.
She chose to play Wonder Girl and she has ever since, never changing.
Not even once. Seriously she’s never changed. Go check. No go-on, don’t
worry, we’ll stay here....

.....

.....

.....

See? Toldja.

Anywho. On the same day as everything started Falcon created the first
ever RPG thread, at the time devoid of posting rules, everyone posted
freely and within weeks, including one night of staying up REALLY,
REALLY LATE we finished our first story arc with a spectacular fight
against the Joker in a flaming warehouse to save Nightwing and Robin.

By the end of the Arc we had a new member. Nightwing. He obviously
played Nightwing and he would soon go onto to change his name to
Robin, play Robin, and then Revamp the site.

But that’s not for a while. Forget I said anything. I mean, forget I said
anything about the revamp thing not the whole History, that’s a
surprise.

Now, comes the important bit. This part defines all of YJUTT.

THE DISCOVERY OF THE CHAT SECTION

I know what you’re thinking.

No, I don’t. On with the History!!

It was a Sunday when it all started. But it always is. You ever noticed
that? Great thing happen on Sundays. Bloody Sunday in Ireland, some
Bible dude rested on Sunday, and another Bible dude came back to life or
summit.

Well YJUTTs no different. I hate to brag but I created the single most
popular thread in YJUTT History, a thread that was posted on a whim,
because I felt really happy. The Thread was called ‘Tell us about
yourself’ and it would define YJUTT. Thanx to this Thread, Lani, Myself
and Jake became the first ever God’s on YJUTT amassing a massive 500
posts each. Yeah, we rock.

Slowly it built up steam. Originally a post everyone posted in for fun, it
soon became a thread that everyone posted in, eventually building so
much power that we could power an entire light bulb.

A Light Bulb? No, that’s an exaggeration. Sorry.

This thread made everyone finally figure out what
YJUTTs about. The RPGin’ brought us together, but a bond, an almost
mystical bond was created through our love to right wonderful nonsense.
Nutty, Nutty Nonsense.

Wait.

Nutty. Yeah, there’s another defining moment. During the course of the
Chatting Era, a small but powerful and potent cult was Created.

The Loyal Order of Nutty Nutty Fruitcake(The LOOTNNF)

It was an Order that revovled around the insanity that was YJUTTians
united, it came with a lot of free perks, a Constant Supply of NNF and
the constant protection of Captain Fruitcake YJUTT’s premier
Superhero.

Enough about that, back to chat or back at least an aspect of it. At some
point we made it past 50 pages of ‘Tell Us About Yourself’. We did it
pretty quickly too. By then we had a lot more mainstays joining in the
fun. By this point Nightwing had become Robin, Mark had joined and left
a trail of broken bones none of us could shake a stick at (it was a big
stick) and YJUTT had a trial because someone created Nutty Nutty Nutty
Fruitcake or Evil NNF.

Yeah, seriously.

Lani vs. Chris. The Weirdest Trial ever, made especially weird by the fact
that Jake was the Judge.

Once again, seriously.

Lani won in the end and we all carried on in our great chipper way.

Until *bum, bum, BUM* Tragedy struck! But this wasn’t any normal
Tragedy, this was bad. Really bad. Really, really bad, it was like losing
your favourite weapon, or maybe losing your Hyperdragon....like losing a
child.

Okay, none of us really knows what it’s like to lose a child do we? I
mean, pfft, c’mon, none of us even have kids. We’re not Stephanie
Brown.

Okay, sorry that was rude. Implying that someone is Secretly Stephanie
Brown is extremely offensive. Let us speak of her no more.

Yeah, anyway the tragedy.

It started off slowly. ‘Tell us about Yourself’ thread became the most
popular thread by far, it gained 290 pages. That’s just insane. All of
it just full of us talking about Crap, Nonsense and the Nutty Nutty
Fruitcake. We had pretty much dumped RPG completely, and we only
really addressed the issue once. Which was....kinda irresponsible, but
we’ve learned from our mistakes and become a lot more mature. Heh,
us mature.

Anyway. Maybe it was the 290 pages. Maybe it was all of the Other
Threads at YJUTT. Maybe it was the LOOTNNF thread. Maybe it was the
amount of members. Maybe it was the Leprachauns that crawled out of
Chris’ butt. Either way, the Site hit some major glitchin’. I mean, Major.

The Pages took like a month to load, and that was only if you could get
onto the site. The Posting page wouldn’t load and the site was just overly
slow.

Maybe ProBoards just couldn’t handle so many posts in such a short space of
time, no matter what the cause the site Chat area was the solution.

The RPGs were RPGs. You couldn’t delete those, that’d be wrong. So, for
the good of YJUTT the Chat area was....I can’t say it.

*Intern walks in*

Intern: It was Deleted.

Thanx.

Cruel fate gave us the finger, and the Chat area was torn down.
Everything from it was deleted. Everything. You think something was
saved? Look at the Chat Section at Olde YJUTT, I can guarantee that you
won’t be able to find anything in the area dated before August 28th.
Around that time the Chat Area was deleted. August 28th was like the
day after you got a mole removed. You go home and look and it’s like
‘Dude, where’s my mole?’

Sorry, I just love the Program ‘When Moles go Wrong’. Anyone seen it,
it’s on CB--*YJUTTians looks at me angrily*

Sorry got sidetracked.

The YJUTTians rolled on! We continued our insanity and forged new
forms of it, we re-organised the LOOTNNF....or at least I meant too. We
created a different Chat. It was full of good times, and it was good. But
nothing could replace the original chat. Except the new Chat. But it
wasn’t as big so, y’know.

*SHINING LIGHT APPEARS FROM NO WHERE* Wha--What’s that light?
Could it be? YES!! It’s another defining moment at YJUTT!!

So, you must be thinkin’ that it’d be impossible to top the old chat
section, right? Well it is, tough luck, but Jake managed to come scarily
close. How? Two Words, Snide Rat. What do they rhyme with? Live Chat.

Yes, after the Old Chat area was destroyed, desimated, and deleted,
Jake created the new one and then went one better. During Winter
YJUTT got kind of cold and lonely, if you know what I mean, people were
rarely coming on and stuff but that all changed.

Maybe people were drawn to the Chat Area. Maybe they were coming
back and stayed because of Live Chat, either way, they came back.

When they came back they were met with a Big Black box hanging over
a new area called Live Chat. For some reason I never saw it the first
few times I went into the section. Maybe I’m just a dumbass. But
everyone had been going there for a while when I came back.

When I finally managed to get into the Live Chat, I couldn’t see what all
of the fuss was about, then I realised, ‘DUDE, we can chat in Real time!’.

It was the Best thing to hit YJUTT, for a while. People kept coming into
the Live Chat section and talking crap, I mean, besides the people who
were meant to be there to talk crap. Ask Mark and Jake about
Noel. Hilarious story. Ask Falcon about the time she got PO’d at one of
Chris’ friends. A Heart renching tale. Ask Lani about the amount of
Perverts who came to Chat and instantly spoke to her. Hilarious once
again.

Hilarious times for all I tell ya.

Aww, man we rocked. But here comes another Milestone.

Remember that thing I told you about earlier, you know the big revamp
thing? No. You don’t remember because I told you to forget. Now be
Silent while I tell you where we’re at now.

YJUTT was back in business. A lot more mainstays joined, Fabiano ‘Fab’
Cruz, someone who will forever be teased for the Britney Spears thing.
Ask him about it. Deathfromwithin also joined, though he didn’t really
talk much at the time and then Shinobi joined and perverseness rained.

Then summit really cool happened, but something no-one really
expected.

YJUTT WAS RE-CREATED!

Yes, that’s right folks, I’m not really sure when but somewhere along the
line Jake and Fabs got bored and created a whole new site!

I know what you’re thinking....No I don’t....I know what some of the
people at YJUTT were thinking though:

‘What the frag?’

Believe it or not, not everyone at YJUTT was too thrilled at this new site.
Some saw it as pointless. Other were upset because they weren’t told
about it, and other just went with the flow. Fortunately, not
everyone was being a little bitch about it, and soon most of us got over
it. However, soon Chris was banned. Which was kind of funny.

The New YJUTT started off to a rocky start. Superboy was becoming gay,
A Wolf boy thought he was invincible and a Sorceress argued with Robin
too much.

First it was Poe. He thought it'd be a good idea to make Superboy gay. But it was breaking the rules. So, he wanted to create a gay clone. That was even sillier and it broke a rule. He began to get PO'd. We found the Ban button.

Of course, after much debate, Poe was banned.

Then something happened with SapeaShadowMaster, a new guy who
frankly I knew little about. I’m not really clear on why he was banned
but either way he was.

Then came Zatanna, who simply didn’t know when to Stop arguing.

Banned.

Yup, in the first you months three people were banned, but since then
we’ve kinda mellowed. As much as one can mellow at YJUTT at least.

We gained a lot of new members (Kye, Sano, Raido XYZ, Justice, and a
lot more whom I can not think of right now, sorry, 5 hours sleep does not
a good memory make.).

But where do we go from here?

We dunno. We lost our Road Map when we got to YJUTT, we’ll figure
summit out though. I mean we got this far without a map or a car,
what's the worst that could happen if we just continued down
this road?

Funtimes ahead people. I can smell it.

Marx - July 22, 2006 04:51 PM (GMT)
And where we go with a new “Behind the Insanity” with your host, Marx. Matt couldn’t be here today (though he might actually…I dunno) so I shall take his place momentarily. Darn you Matt! Return to us! *shakes fist* Leave those girls who tend to correspond with Wonder Woman characters alone! *clears throat* Now that we have that out the way, I shall do my best to fill my son/father’s shoes. *sniffle*

Where to start where to start…

Everything seemed to be going quite well on the site when we moved. Sure there were a few bans in the first couple months but more or less the site was still booming. But as with all good things there are bad parts to it. While Chris was eventually unbanned, he would never RPG again, though he would stay with us in spirit and though the OOC parts of the site. And with that began came the darkness that was…*lightning strikes* the uber strict rule reign! *random girl screams*

You scared yet? You should be. It was possibly the first nail in the coffin that was Old School YJUTT, may it rest in peace. First, all of our elite members who’d been with the site from the beginning were made into Mods. The admins were still Jake and Racheal, and the newly crowned admin Alan. This was a good idea, it really was but it would lead us down a dark path of endless arguing *insert creepy music chord here* Secondly, since we had a lot of members with different times zones and all, it was hard to keep up with the stories. We just accepted this before but once one of our elite gods left us RPGing in the dark…well not literally of course…except for those of us who like posting in the dark…but I digress, we decided that maybe we have some kind of formula instead of everyone posting when they want to.

We all decided on the first idea. We’d simply wait for someone to tell us to stop posting and we’d stop. Pretty simply right? It didn’t work…some people would just keep going and we’d have to tell them multiple times to stop friggin posting! Then Fab came up with the second idea. We all had our names down and we posted in order of the name. We’d wait three days if a person didn’t post and we’d go on from there so no one’d be left behind. It was a good idea in theory…but it tanked…bad…in the first storyline…in less than a week. So we tried a different way, thought up by Alan, which worked a lot better. We’d post and then wait for three people to post before we could post again. Simple…to the point…no one would be left behind. So all was good in the world of YJUTT. Or so we thought. *another dreaded chord*

The posting rules were just the first step. Tired of getting crappy characters and original ones that were insanely powerful Alan came up with the Contract of Death where you’d sign your soul over to us and we’d slowly drain it away every time you stepped out of line. …okay so it wasn’t that bad but it felt that way after you filled out that entire friggin form just to get your character. Even I said that if I had just come to the site, that the form you’d have to fill out to get a character would annoy the hell out of me and I wouldn’t join. But we were convinced that it didn’t matter, we’d still get members and they’d be members who could post more than two line posts that changed the direction of the entire story. Once again…this was a good idea…*dun dun dunnnnn* but remember the days of old when we could finish an entire storyline in one day? Never happened again. And why? Because everyone’s post is insanely huge and they take like…a day to read and that’s if you’re skimming, and yes my posts are included in that joke.

But still! We flourished with new members who could keep up with the long forms and the even longer posts. Of the new members one stood above them, he became truly one of us probably the quickest on record. Though he may have had an obsession for The Legion of Superheroes that actually rivaled Alan’s obsession with the batclan, his disagreements with Alan became so legendary that merely saying the words “Time Trapper” would make you roll on the floor in laughter. The two even won the Duo Award the following year. Yours truly began one of the most popular(probably because it was one of the only) contests in the Teen Titans tournament, after which came DC vs. Marvel, and later Battle Royale which altogether hosted 75 battles! And everything was good…*dun dun dunnnnnnnn*

As I said the posting rules were a good idea…but I’ve said that a lot recently haven’t I? But it was only a good idea as long as we had enough people posting to wait for the three posts so we could continue the story. But even the newly crowned GMs of the story(who took control of the story more or less) would sometimes randomly vanish and make the story come to a screeching halt. Storylines that used to take days to finish now were lucky to be finished at all as half the members would ditch it by the time we got to the middle. Countless people were trying to apply and never got accepted as they didn’t know their characters inside and out, having so many mods and admins made things even worse as every idea had to be practically put through a committee before being approved, everyone threatened to quit the site, the water began to turn into the blood, Vanilla Ice came out with a new album, and Blink 182 disbanned.

Eventually the arguments got to the point that Rach went back to the original site. But some of us followed her there and we talked about going back to using that site as the original one. But then we made the bad bad baaaaaad mistake of assuming that Alan wouldn’t like the new idea, which was of course just a stupid assumption, it wasn’t like he hadn’t been really strict about lots of various things, but regardless our assumption seemed to be the final straw and tired of being the “bad guy”, Alan quit the site, never to return. Some rejoiced, but most took this as a wakeup call and the arguing ceased. But even with the ceased arguing, Rach, the mother of the site decided to quit as well, and Fab, possibly tired of all the times we picked at him, or agreeing with the reason Alan left…personally I don’t know, but he left for the 13th time, and surprisingly enough didn’t return. I guess 13 really is unlucky for some.

Obviously we had to do some serious thinking at this point. It was at that point that our very own Jim suggested that we have 3 admins. One for the RPG, one for the OOC sections and one for the …technomological things… Oddly enough I had a similar idea at least for the RPG section having both me and Alan being equally in charge since as for as admin style we were polar opposites (him being uber strict and me being uber mellow) and we’d find a middle ground and everyone would be happy, but with him quitting that kind of put a damper on that plan. But Jim’s idea succeed in 2 things.

One, it created a new, balanced Godly Trio (Lani, Me and Jake) and one mod(Matt) that has yet to get into a big argument. And two…Jim’s idea kind ended up…demoting him back to being a member and not a mod. Though we did let him keep semi modness by letting him still know what’s going on and have some input. We also decided, to uuuuber simplify the character forms to the point that I would join again. We also no longer had to deal with people PMing us the applications, going Old School YJUTT they post in the Apply section and are either accepted or not right then and there. We even took away the you must have a cannon character(whether you want one or not) to have the original that you want.

We also nixed the posting rules altogether though we slightly kept the whole GM deal making the current YJUTT an amalgam of “Ye Olde YJUTT” and the “Reign of the Uber Rules: YJUTT”. Since then we’ve had lots of members come back from the dark ranging from Poe to Speedster to Lorna (aka EnigmaticReign ) and even the return of Racheal in the form of Fledgling. We’ve even had new members such as Red, Darkfire, and of course the girl with the most awesome birthday ever Katie (aka Silvershattering). We’ve been through some hard times and some good times but we’ve kept up one thing. The insanity! And that’s what we all come for isn’t it? What’s the future hold for us…no clue. But there’s one thing I know beyond a shadow of a doubt.

Hanson sucks.
