Description: Twenty Years Later.....

"C'mon! This way!" Yelled a gun in ripped jeans, an old jacket and a baklava as he ran downb the alleys, a gun in hand.
"Thab little Webch brob my nob!"(translated:That little witch broke my nose :) )His colleage exclaimed as he followed, holding a bloody mass on the middle of his face.
"Lucky thats all I did." A dark figure said calmly as it jumped down from a near by building to corner them in the alley. "Also Lucky for you that your aims worse than a blind man with a bow and arrow. "
The guy with the broken nose reached for his piece and took a shot at the shadow....who didn't even move.
"See?" She punched him in the jaw with one hand and twisted his gun away from him with the other. "Thats EXACTLY what I mean." She struck him over the neck and he slumped to the ground....Now for his friend...
"Look....eh, Robin......we didn't do nothing. We swear!" The one in the jacket backed away as the Girl with blondish brown hair and opaque eyes from her mask that was almost huntress-esq......save for the over dramatic pointy things. Her form was hidden beneath a errie cape that went only a little past her feet.
"One:" She grabbed one of his hands and twisted it behind him, leaning in so he could hear the low growl. "Its Falcon. NOT Robin. This is the millionth time tonight I've had to say that to people....And Two:." She slammed him into a nearby brick wall. Hard. She was sure she heard one of his ribs crack. He'd live. "Wheres the little girl."

Robin - July 22, 2004 09:40 PM (GMT)
FBI Agent and criminal profiler, Tim Drake, sat in his darkened office, reviewing a several case files. He taking off his glasses, Drake rubbed the bridge of his nose and sighed. He knew that he could just leave the files for tomorrow and get some sleep, but some habits died hard.
After graduating from college with a graduate degree in criminology, Tim had retired from the role of Batman's partner Robin and joined a tad more normal occupation inside of the FBI.
Now considered on of the top FBI profilers in the country, Drake had done all he could to continue Batman's teaching from inside the system. Through his skills, he had taken down some of the most dangerous criminals in the country.
Still there were times that he missed the life of a masked hero. Of course that didn't mean he hadn't turned his back from the rest of the Super-hero community, as he at times play the part of liasons between the JLA and the FBI.
Reaching for his coffee mug, Drake's phone began to ring.
"Drake here," he stated. His voice was much deeper than it had been all those years ago, sounding much like a mix of his father Jack Drake and Batman. Again, some habits died hard.

Duo Merquise sighed as she walked down the darkened street; her shoulder bag was weighted with books and caused her shoulders to slump unevenly. She rubbed her shoulder tenderly as she groaned.
She had stayed late again...Aspen wouldn't be happy. She promised her she would be home by 5...she was only 5 hours late...perhaps her daughter wouldn't notice...
Duo shifted the bag to the other shoulder, grumbling at the number of books she was being forced to take home with her, she had stayed late marking streams of books, it mainly took so long because half the damn brats were so lacking in a education that their writing was illegible due to scruffy hand writing and incorrect spelling!
"That baby has a lot to answer for!" Duo muttered as she recalled the young baby Kelsey...who wasn't exactly a baby anymore...who had dyed her wings pink and also sent her on this career path of becoming a teacher.
Duo's frown only grew as he mobile phone rang. She dived a hand into the jam-packed bag and ferreted around all the while the tune of Green Sleeves filtered into the night sky. Duo grabbed with the device and flipped it open. "Hello?" She asked...even though she knew who resided at the other end.
"Mum! Where in the blue hell are you!?" Aspen yelled down the phone.
"Honey...I had work to do, I'm sorry, I'm on my way home..."
She was cut off as a scream ripped through the air, alerting her that someone was in trouble. "Aspen I have to..."
"Go...I know, go save the day and all that, honestly you make time for everyone else but me!" Aspen sniped, although the pain in her tone was unmistakeable.
"Aspen please it's not like that!" Duo pleaded to her daughter as her white wings began to unfurl from her spine.
"Forget it mum!" The dial tone greeted her and she sighed as she put the phone away and her green thermal scythe instantly replaced it as she flew off to "save the day" as her daughter had stated enviously.

Gar 'The Changeling' Logan lay back in his bed, and shuddered. The Tower was freezing. One of the kid's friends had decided to play with an interesting pipe in the basement, and had busted the air conditioner.
As the "Adult in Charge", he had sent the kids home so that they wouldn't freeze. However, the Tower was his home and he had to deal with it.
Not that it mattered, his bottle would keep him warm through the night. If anyone knew that Changeling kept himself going with a bottle of scotch every night, they would probably freak, but they would never understand.
Death surrounded the green hero, and he hated the sorrow that dogged him every day. So, he drank, and the sorrows disappeared, at least until the next night when it wore off, and the nightmares returned.
He absently wondered how Raven was doing. She was the Tower's only other permenant resident, but she had kept to her room a lot.
He left that train of thought and opened the bottle.
Falcon - July 23, 2004 03:38 AM (GMT)
The 'Falcon' sighed as she entered the cave and removed the somewhat of a burden, cape. HE had said it was part of her 'training'. If she could handle patrol with added weight, it would make her that much better without. Underneath it was a cosume that was similar to the original falcon costume. Except for it completely covered her arms, her boots came all the way up to mid theigh, and, instead of red falcon emblem, it was blue and a whole lot more sleek. Blue was, after all, her favorite color
She gave a small laugh. She had been 'in training' now for nine years. She was now sixteen.
Nine years ago...
She remembered back to earlier that night....when she had rescued that little girl. Safely returning her to her parents. She seemed so....Happy. She seemed to have parents that cared abot her deeply. To watch over her. To protect her innocence.
Nine years ago.....had she been like that? Had she been happy? Innocent?...Loved?
Her fingers traced over the cases that held the coustumes of, what to her, were legends....Most importantly, the First Falcon costume. Nights like these....was when she missed her mother most. Her eyes strayed to the latest and last of the Rachael simmons Falcon costumes. It wasn't the real one though. It was a replica. A replacement costume. The real one had been stained in blood.
Images flased of the Joker shoving her mothers lifeless body in her face. In the face of a niiave, innocent, and young seven year old....and she shoved the images away, trying desperately to find something else to think about. She squeezed her eyes shut and then shook her head, lookings away from the cases to the nearby crays computer, mving from the lights over the costumes to the shadows. And removing her maskand brown wig.
"You've been invited to join the titans."
Bruce's, eyes glued to the crays computer monitor, face remained stoical. He was still in Batman garb save the mask. The pains and triumphs over the years had really made him look like an old man. But jumping out in the line of fire everynight....certainly didn't act like one.
"Titans aree a bunch of stiff goody to shoes. If I was on any team, it'd be Young Justice." Her moms team.
"There isn't one currently--"
Thats when the com-link went off and Bruce switched it to the speaker system on the crays comp. "Hello?"
"Bruce? This is Superman. We have a situation."

"Bedlam's loose.....again." Superman said his eyes fell to the girl in the shadows who just raised an eyebrow'What you looking at?' ....He never did approve of Bruce training the girl after her mother died.....But at least he could understand it to some extent. bruce and the girl had a bond. Both had lost their parents. And both had lost something to the Joker. So he did the only thing he knew to do when finnaly got custody of the girl from social services:
He taught her how to be a bat.
"I'm on my way. Falcon, stay here."
"But--"
The older man sliped on his cowl. Not the old one. He wore one similar to the Batman beyond costume. He looked in her direction and gave out a low growl. "Skyla..."
She rolled her eyes"~Sigh~ Fine! I'll stay in the cave and play solitare on the crays computer. Happy?"
"I'm jumping with joy." He said in a stoical, sarcastic voice as he jumped into the Batmobile.
He paused and gave her a 'final warning' look. "If I find out you leave the cave, your done being the Falcon." And with that, he was off.
Skyla Katherine Simmons sighed and stepped out of the shadows the cherry highlights in her dark red, almost black hair, cathing in the dim light of the crays computer and her green eyes dripped with annoyance and boredom, kicking at imaginary rocks and plopped into the highbacked chair of the crays computer. "If I had a nickle for everytime I heard THAT one...."
Skyla sighed and turned the crays computer over to a television station, watching the coverage of the 'bedlam' situation.
"We interupt our programing with breaking news--" The news caster started as the scene was cut off.
"Oh c'mon! You can't interupt breaking news to bring the breaking news! Thats just redundant!"
She exclaimed at the screen, using her hands to dramatize her point.
"Another bedlam has been reported in Star City! All the heros are at happy harbor battling the first. No heroes are in Star city whatsoever right now! Could the first one have been a decoy! Stay tuned for more information as we bring you more cover coverage on this startlin--Click---"
"Startleing story my butt." Falcon jumped out of her chair and looked at the freeze framed picture of the bedlam in Star city wreaking havoc....He was...just a kid.
Skyla pulled on her mask and Wig, forgoing the usual caoe and her eyes strayed over to the nearby JLA teleporter. "Sorry, Gramps." She set the codes and ran for the teleporter....

NutiketAiel - July 24, 2004 12:59 AM (GMT)
"President Krinn, Misters and Madames Ambassador, ladies and gentlemen, sentients of all species," began Star Boy, the Legion's present leader, "It is my great pleasure... and distinct honor... to introduce you all to the three newest members of the Legion of Super Heroes, a second generation of heroes!"
"Please give it up for the Legionnaires 3!!" The crowd went wild, although the gathered Ambassadors and dignitaries of the United Planets retained a cool dignity.
"Cub Wazzo-Nah, the Ultra Kid!!" out flew the son of Tinya Wazzo- Apparation- and Jo Nah- Ultra Boy, and every teenager of the female pursuasion in the crowd went absolutely wild, regardless of species.
"We love you, Cub!!"
"Yay, Cub!!"
"Cub, come and save me anytime!!"
Ultra Kid landed on the platform in front of Star Boy as the long time Legionnaire continued.
"Graham Ranzz, the Mind Shock!!" again the crowd cheered as the son of Garth Ranzz- Live Wire- and Imra Ardeen- Saturn Girl, flew out and landed beside Cub.
"And last, but certainly not least, the leader of the Legionnaires 3, Lyle Norg, jr.- Time Lad!!" again the crowd cheered, though not so much as for Graham and Cub, as a 16 year old human- the youngest of the three- flew out to land between them. Physically, Lyle was the spitting image of his father; he wore a uniform that was similiar to the standard Legion design, sleeveless, purple with black relief and a stylized yellow hourglass emblem on his upper right chest, the legion belt around his waist and a flight ring on his finger. And, just because his Dad had liked it, a purple headband around his temples. As he landed, Graham leaned over and whispered.
"I can't believe you made a purple outfit."
"I can't believe that you chose a crappy name like 'Mind Shock.'"
"Well," whispered Ultra Kid, "his parents wouldn't let him use his original name."
"And what," asked Graham indignantly, "is wrong with 'Mind Sprock?'"
"You mean asside from the profanity?" asked Lyle with a chuckle.
"Knock it off, you three," said the voice of Graham's mom in their minds. "This is supposed to be a ceremony."
"Sorry," all three thought in reply, except Graham who actually thought "Sorry, Mom."
As the ceremony droned on... and on... and on... and on... Lyle thought back to what had put them in these circumstances. He and his two best friends, Cub and Graham, had been working together for a while, but the adult Legionnaires refused to admit them because Aunt Tinya and Aunt Imra thought it was too dangerous for their children to be involved with the Legion at their ages, never mind the fact that they had been even younger. Lyle just got lumped in with the others- it wasn't like his Dad could say anything about it, being dead.
Anyway, all was fine untill an emergency signal started blasting from JS-1967... The planet where Mordru had been entombed. The entire Legion, and all the cadets and reservists flew off to the planetoid to imprison the mad sorcerer.
Unfortunately, Mordru was too cunning for that. It was a trap- he had been free for weeks, and had prevented the alarms from reaching the UP, preparing to welcome the Legion in his own fashion...
Three Legionnaires- Kid Quantum, Chlorophyll Kid and Calorie Queen- were dead before they knew what was going on, the rest incapacitated within seconds.
And the three young ones... the Legionnaires 3, as they called themselves... watched it all from the monitor room with horror. They had gone on missions before... never with their parents' permission, but usually with the blessing of Timber Wolf, AKA Uncle Brin, or Wildfire, AKA Uncle Drake (they were the cool Uncles), but never anything this big and never without the knowledge that, if things got really bad, they could call in the Legion for a rescue.
Not this time.
The Legionnaires 3 hopped a threshold for JS-1967 without a second thought. Of course, in retrospect Time Lad figured that wasn't the smartest plan considering who they were facing, but it was as good an idea as any, really, and their spontenaity managed to catch Mordru off guard. Luckily.
Lyle, Cub and Graham immediately went to work on the startled Mordru, before he could come to grips or get his bearings. Lyle slowed down Mordru's time relative to everything else to virtual stasis, while Graham pounded him electronically and psychically and Cub excavated a new hole to put the claustrophobic sorcerer in. Of course, that was when Mordru cast a spell increasing his own speed back to something approaching normal levels, and things started to get hairy. To spare the long story, though, the Legion was freed, Mordru was defeated and imprisonned with no further loss of life, and now the Legionnaires 3 were [finally] being presented to the UP as what the three of them knew they should have been a long time hence.
Actual Legionnaires.
~~~
Time Lad... still in his costume... collapsed into his bed hours later, after the huge party that had followed. Very tired, he let his eyes drift shut...
... and opened them less then a second later, surrounded by a ruined landscape, a black sky and a chilling wind.
"What? Where am I?"
"The end of time, and my home," replied a voice that Lyle could not identify as masculine or feminine, only powerful. Look around though he may, Time Lad could see nothing of the source of the voice.
"That's impossible. I may have time powers, but I can't time travel, for the same reason that I got my powers. Dad took me through the timestream right after I was born, and my cells were changed. If I had been brought through time, I would be dead by now. It just isn't possible."
"All things are possible... for the Time Trapper!!" The air in front of Time Lad shimmered and in it appeared the deeply cloaked sinister figure that we all know and love.
"YOU KILLED MY FATHER, YOU SON OF A BITCH!!!!" Lyle threw himself at the villain before him. Unbidden, the image of his father, bloody, broken yet oddly serene, and being shoved at him by the Time Trapper when he had been only seven, floated before his eyes. Lyle banished it with his rage as tears flowed from his eyes and his fingers reached for the Time Trapper's throat.
Instead, the boy was blasted back ten feet. Without pause, he activated his powers, trying to bend the time stream to his will, calling on all of his powers, to DESTROY THAT MAN!!
"I wouldn't do that, boy. To use your power in such a way, without training, would destroy you." Abruptly, Time Lad's power fled him at a gesture from the Trapper.
"Fine," said the boy, climbing to his feet. "Enough of this nonsense. Destroy me, like you did my father!! That's what you brought me here for, isn't it? DESTROY ME!! GET IT OVER WITH!!!"
The trapper shook his head. "Your rage blinds you, boy. You're smarter than that. I could have killed you any time back in the 31st century."
"So you brought me here to toy with me, is that it? Dad always said that you saw all your conflicts with the Legion as a game, and us as pawns. Well, I won't play along- you'll get no ammusement out of me, Trapper!"
"Pawns? Well, some of you to be sure, but your father was always one of my more major pieces... a Knight or Bishop, to be sure." The Trapper chuckled.
"That isn't funny."
"No, I'd imagine you wouldn't see the humor in that."
"What do you want, Trapper?"
"Events are in motion, child, events that could threaten the integrity of the timestream, events that I would like to see stopped."
"So stop them yourself; I'm not your pawn."
"Oh, no, a rook to say the least."
"DAMN IT, TRAPPER!!"
"Be calm, boy. Your anger will be your undoing. Now, as I was saying, I don't want these events stopped, just subtly altered."
"So do it yourself. I'm not your tool."
"Child, the LEGION is my tool. When I see trouble, I manipulate you young, idealistic fools into fixing it for me. Usually, you don't even realize it. Often, you don't remember it. This time, it suits me that you do."
"I'm not going to help you, Trapper."
"Oh, yes you will, 'Time Lad.' After all- this is what you're for."
With that, there was a blinding flash of light...
Skyla pulled on her mask and Wig, forgoing the usual caoe and her eyes strayed over to the nearby JLA teleporter. "Sorry, Gramps." She set the codes and ran for the teleporter....
As young Falcon materialized in Star City, there was a bright, blinding flash next to her. When her vision cleared, she could see Time Lad standing next to her, still in Legion garb, shaking a fist at nothing and shouting "Trapper, you son of a..."
The sixteen year old blinked, as if just realizing his surroundings, then started as he saw Falcon. "Ummm... when am I? And who are you?"
Robin - July 24, 2004 03:47 AM (GMT)
"Tim," came a soft and familar voice over the phone. "Its me."
Tim felt himself tense. It had been nearly a year since he had spoken to his ex-girlfriend, Reilly Carr. They had once worked together, when Tim had first joined the bearu. She had been a psychiatrist and he had been the profiler as they worked together to track down a horrifying criminal who would rape his victims before peeling the flesh litterally from their body.
Two years they worked on that case togther. For two long years they would travel around the country, finding mutilated children and woman. Always come in a moment to late.
One night Tim couldn't take it. He re-donned the Robin costume, in order to stop the killer, before he got another victim. But he hadn't expected to run into Reilly, who figured out everything.
It took six more months before they solved the case, without the use of Robin.
After the case had been solved, Tim and Reily had attempted their hand at a relationship, now that they no longer worked together, but Tim's distant nature had been too much of a strain for them. Reilly had accepted a transfer to the Star City FBI agency. But 8 months after she had left she had given Tim a call and a big suprise.
"Reilly, what is it?"
"It's Wesley."
Tim Drake's taxi pulled up infront of the large, suburban house, set on the outskirts Star City. If he could be anywhere else in the world it wouldn't have been here. If it wasn't for the fact that Reily had been so despretate he probably wouldn't have come.
Slowly Tim made his way to the front door of the house and rang the doorbell. A moment later a blonde hair, green eyed woman opened the door. The two former lovers looked at one another for a long while, before Reilly broke the silence.
"So is this what it takes to get you to come to visit?" she asked.
Tim sighed. 14 years later and she was still the same smart-ass she always was. "Its good to see you too Reily."
"Come in."
Reilly stepped aside allowing Tim into her home. "So, how's everyone back at the bearu?" she asked.
"Reilly," Tim grunted.
The psychatrist sighed loudly. "Still not one for small talk are you?" Drake didn't respond. "I don't know what to do about him, Tim. I'm really starting to get worried. His grades are slipping, he hasn't been to school in seriously two weeks. He's attitude..."
"Its called being a teenager, Reilly," Drake interupted.
"No," Reilly snapped. "Its called being pissed off, Tim! Pissed off at you! Pissed off at me. God Tim, do you even realize that its been over two years since you've seen him?"
"I was busy-"
"With your job, I know!" Reilly glared at her former partner. "Do you think that excuses you forgetting his birthday?" Drake didn't even flinched. "Look, Tim I understand that the job is important, but what about Wesely?"
"He's a strong kid, Reilly. He'll be fine."
Reilly groaned. "Tim, this is a textbook case of a child wanting attention from a neglectful parent. At least when he was a toddler you TRIED To visit him. Whats your excuse now?"
Tim's face didnt' waver one bit. "Where is he?"
Again Reilly sighed. "Upstairs."
Tim followed as Reilly led them up to the bedroom at the end of the hallway. On the door was a poster of Superman, with a traffic sign saying 'STOP'.
"Wes," Reilly said opening the door. "There is someone here to see you." But when she opened the door, Drake and Reilly found the room completely empty.
"Life father like son..." Reilly mumbled.
Wesely Carr knew that sneaking out of his house in the middle of the night, with a mother on the warpath had to be the dumbest thing he could do. His ears were still ringing from when his mom had recieved the call from the school about him skipping classes.
But the fact was, he couldn't stand to be locked up in that house much longer. Especially with HIM coming.
Brushing his jet black hair from his bright green eyes, the teen gave a sigh. Wes didn't know what the big deal was. So he played hooky every now and again. So his grades had gone from straight A's to a couple of C's. Who cares? It was no reason to call in his father. Besides the old man probably didn't give a flying flip about what he did.
Strolling thought downtown Star City, Wes did his best to clear his mind. Clad in black jeens, a red-zip up sweater and leather jacket, Wes looked like a splitting image of his father when he had been his age. All except for his green eyes. Those he had gotten from his mother.
Most likely 'Dad' was going to show up any minute to tell him off, and tell him to shape up. Afterall, that was what those Bat-guys always said.
Yeah, that's right. He knew about his dad's past and how he had been the kid in the red and green tights, Robin the Boy Wonder. Apparently Wes had gotten something other than his father's hair. He had also gotten his father's detective skills. Part of having a genius I.Q. at the age of 14. He did get kicked up two grades because of it.
Wes was shaken out of his thoughts as a car flew over his head and crashed into a nearby store front. "JEEZES!" he yelped, nearly getting his head taken off.
Shooting his eyes up, Wes could see a someon he hadn't been expecting. "Holy Slag! That's Bedlam!"
The sixteen year old blinked, as if just realizing his surroundings, then started as he saw Falcon. "Ummm... when am I? And who are you?"
'Stupid freaking..' Skyla shook her head slightly as the spots from the bright light faded.
"Er....year 2024 and Falcon. I'd tell you my real name, but then I'd have to kill you. Batclan policy and all that"
Wes was shaken out of his thoughts as a car flew over his head and crashed into a nearby store front. "JEEZES!" he yelped, nearly getting his head taken off.
Shooting his eyes up, Wes could see a someon he hadn't been expecting. "Holy Slag! That's Bedlam!"
"Well no duh, kid. What gave it away. The purple aura and god-like abilities or the blond hair?" She said sarcasticly. "If I were you I'--" She blinked. Getting a good look at the guy...No way. HAD to be his son. She never foregot a face. He looked like that guy in her mothers old photographs...She found them when she was two and hid them. When she had died...she kept them. She had always been the little escape artist.
"Hey! Super freaks! I'M supposed to be the center of attention around here." A yound version of bedlam shouted, looking down from his floating throne as he watched the people run as monter cabbage patch dolls raided the city(Its late at night. I'm tired. What do you expect?)
Just her and....whoever this guy in the purple suit next to her was. Not good odds....Wonder if....
atlantis - July 24, 2004 04:16 AM (GMT)
“Thank you all so much for coming once again and good night!!” The black haired hostess of ‘The Awards 2024’ signed off to the crowed.
She swept off the stage in her red sequined gown immediately reaching for her mobile phone. Expertly typing the numbers as she headed for her limo a wrap was placed about her shoulders to protect against the chill.
“Hey Honey, just wondered about this message I was sent before the show?” She asked as she slid into her seat in the back of the limo.
“…….She did what!! Oh God!! …….And where was…?? Oh, and what did he say about that?! ……I knew he would cover for her!! What? Oh, yeah, I’ll be home in under an hour. Make sure they’re both there……Well where are they then?! *sigh* you’re too easy on them you know that.” She laughed as the last of her stage makeup was removed. “Yeah, I know that’s one of the reasons why I love you.”
She hung up the phone moments later and removed the long curled black wig revealing her natural shoulder length blond hair.
“There you are Cassandra, get into mom mode. Your gonna need it.” Cassie said with confidence and a big grin.
William put down the phone with his well-worn smirk. “Well I guess the awards went well huh, Miel?” He pointlessly asked the fluff ball on the chair. Said fluff ball was a cat, the only cat in the world that didn’t make Will run screaming. In a manly way.
Picking up a white envelope from the table he pushed aside some stray DEO letters he had yet to look over, sighing he walked to the shadow on the wall and ported to his destination.
“Who would wear that?! Honestly?! It looks like a dumbassed heroine outfit!!” The teenager exclaimed jabbing violently at the fashion magazine in front of her while sitting at the breakfast bar. “Come on!! I had hair like that two years ago!!” She continued, flipping her long dark brown hair over her shoulder, its blond streak evident.
“What, you think you could do better, suspension girl??” The guy at the end of the counter jibed, his violet eyes looking up from his science paper. “And its called Retro.”
The last person in the room remained focused, his pencil moving fluently over the paper drawing his twin sister opposite. Their difference in looks were more subtle than their polaric natures. “Leave it.” He said levelly
“Why? I’m happy. I’m Proud!” Lucy-Fern reached out and picked up one of the four glasses on the table. Raising it in the air like a trophy, a drop of red wine dripped onto her magazine. “Here’s to three days at the mall!!”
Looking up finally from his work Gabriel regarded the other two drinking as he ran his hands over his light brown hair, his black fringe spiking again.
His look to his twin was clear only to them. ‘I don’t want to stress but I don’t like you drinking’
‘I understand but I’m not going to stop. Its harmless fun.’ She looked away unable to keep his gaze.
Turning to the younger guy he frowned slightly. “Don’t let my dad catch you, Andrew.” Getting a nervous laugh in reply.
The entrance of the homes resident stopped any further discussion, her black hair and green eyes always startled him.
“Aspen?”
Shinigami - July 24, 2004 11:24 AM (GMT)
“Aspen?”
Aspen walked back into the room, the white glazed phone made a strange creaking noise from the pressure of Aspen's clenched fist about it's frame as she tried to contain her annoyance and disappointment.
It wasn't a secret really; all three of her friends knew that Aspen's relationship with her mother was more then a little rocky. "Don't worry Riel, it's just the usual!" Aspen's voice was cold and her emerald eyes flashed with a faint violet haze as she flicked a stray strand of black hair over her shoulder, it's tips naturally dyed red just like her mother's. "She's only 5 hours late and devoting all of her time to everyone else but me!" She said placing the phone not to gently on the side table, she didn't care if the surface became a little more scratched then usual, her mother wasn't a big fan of possessions...in truth they couldn't afford much in the way of possessions anyway.
She knew she complained about it a lot, Lucy-fern often groaned when she started and Riel would give her sympathetic looks...in truth she really hated the sympathy vote more then the groans...but it was the one thing that truly pained her. She didn't have a father to make up for missed time nor other siblings, all three of her friends had both parents and Riel and Lucy were lucky enough to have one another as well! And what was worse is that these three were inseparable, strong as iron their link to one another...she always kind of felt like the added extra, not really worthy of anyone’s time, not theirs, not her mum's...
Aspen gritted her teeth and stalked over to Lucy and snatched the bottle of red wine from her and poured herself a considerable large glass compared to the supposedly "adventurous" sips the others had been taking and downed the lot in her anger, avoiding disapproving looks from Riel and a respectful one from his sister, not caring that all four of them were under aged.
* * * * * * * * * *
"Great!" Duo cursed as she looked down at another ruin shirt from her fight with the street gang that had been terrorising this general area, she had had many run-ins with them for she would be damned if she would allow her neighbours to be terrorised. Thankfully her hard work seemed to have been paying off somewhat, the number of members of the Cryak Crew seemed to have been diminishing and a faint rumour that the area had a guardian angel had begun to spread but she had been able to retain her secret identity. Duo examined the gash across the stomach of her shirt and the torn off sleeve seeing if it was fixable, "Curses” she muttered as she picked up her discarded bag and cringed as she saw several of the children's books had been thrown from the bag and were now scattering the street looking a little worse for wear.
Duo picked them up quickly and began her walk again; she was only 5 minutes from home.
<I hope she's not too mad at me. > Duo thought in a glum frame of mind, the day had already been atrocious and she had to ensure that all the books had been marked, she couldn't afford to loose this job because of her superheroing gig...she needed it to keep herself and Aspen afloat.
atlantis - July 24, 2004 02:33 PM (GMT)
The doorbell rang as Gabriel watched Aspen pour herself another drink to the cheers from Lucy-Fern.
“Who knew you could be cool?!” She smirked at the other girls look. “Your right. Cool is too good a word”
“You know. We really shouldn’t be drinking.” Andrew said with a straight face. “It is morally wrong and socially unacceptable for us to be drinking.” He pushed forward his empty glass. “But.” His face lightened. “Teenager means stupid so fill me up.”
“I’ll get the door then.” Riel said as he rose, lovingly closing his art book and stretched out his tall frame.
As he reached Aspens front door he could hear Lucy hiss “And what makes you think you can call my brother Riel?!” Shaking his head in amusement almost he gave a small smile as he opened the door.
“Dad? What’s up?”
“Gabriel, hey kid!” Will walked in, smoothing down the lapels of his suit unconsciously. “I had a letter to leave for Duo from your mom.”
He produced the white envelope and slipped it into a drawer in the desk by the wall.
“You ever think its weird how mom writes to Duo so much, even though they can see each other every day?” Gabriel asked, directly looking Will in the eyes.
For a second it seemed as if he was going to be told where to go, Will still had a temper when questioned unwontedly. Instead Will laughed. “Hey, you know women, they talk all day then go home and gossip on the phone for hours. Is Lucy here too?”
“Yeah, Drew’s here too.”
Will smiled inwardly, his son was standing in front of the kitchen door, protecting those inside from him. They were drinking. “I have to get back to the house for a call but I need you and Luc to be home in a few minutes. Your mom will be home soon and she knows.” They were going to be in enough trouble without Lucy being caught drinking too.
“About the suspension?” Riels forehead wrinkled into a slight frown.
“Yeah. Say bye to the others for me. Good luck.” He ruffled his son’s hair as he left.
“Hey Lucy, we gotta jet.” Gabriel directed at his sister, pushing open the door.
“That was Dad, moms on the way home and….she…knows...”
Three panicked faces looked at him. The wine had been spilt, a glass shattered, and the red liquid had seeped towards his precious art book. The one possession he never allowed anyone to view unless he deemed the work good enough.
“We are so sorry, Bro.” Andrew said calmly, holding his work above the pool of alcoholic liquid. “It was an accident”
Lucy-Fern had created a barrier with her arms around his book, her perfect white long sleeve top completely ruined. Riel gave her a knowing look.
She smiled “Well grab it before it gets soaked then Loki!!”
He did as he was told, raising a pierced eyebrow at his sister for the use of that name.
He flipped through the pages, showing portraits of his friends and random cartoons, checking for damage while Lucy dried off.
“It’s ok right? We’re even?” She asked, knowing the answer.
“Maybe in a couple of years.” He smiled, flashing his teeth. “Your bleeding by the way.”
“I am? This top is history. Ah well, just something else for mom to be mad about I guess.” She shrugged as she focused on the cut on her arm due to the broken glass.
The skin grafted itself back together in seconds.
“You gotta love doing that” She smirked
“Mom and dad do, it’s the only reason you don’t have a tattoo.” Riel threw his jacket to her. She slipped it on, already knowing the reason he’d given it to her.
“Ok, as much as I’d love to stay and clean up…..” Andrew jumped down from the bar. “Some of us have a kid to go home to.”
Aspen looked up from where she was cleaning up the glass. “Marxy isn’t a chil…..I see your point.”
“Drew. It would be so easy for you to help clean this up, it would take no time at all, pleeeaaaseee??” Lucy-Fern wielded blue puppy-dog eyes on Andrew.
Drew regarded the mess “Oh God, look at the linoleum!! Your mothers going to kill me!!” he exclaimed. The other three continued to look at him, knowing he would help out.
“Fine.” He mock sighed as he morphed his hands into a dustbrush and mop. A super speed spring clean seconds later left the entire kitchen looking better than it had in a while. “It’s the only reason you keep me around I know it.” He joked, morphing his dark skin back into anatomical correctness.
“That’s not true.” Riel smirked again. ”Its your intelligence too, gets me out of helping Luc from time to time. You gonna port home?”
“Nah, I need the run. Too much thinking to do.” He said, slipping out the back door, his backpack over one shoulder. “See you tomorrow!”
“Bye! Catcha later Aspen. Wish us luck! Oh, You might want to rethink that hairstyle before school…and a change in outfit…and-” Lucy stopped with a glance from Riel.
“Later.” He smirked as he ported the two of them through the shadows.
Falcon - July 24, 2004 03:40 PM (GMT)
'PLEASE let them have their com devices in...' Falcon blowed a tuffle of the wig hair out of her face as she set her com devices frequency.
Ok, so once in his entire life, Bats had been wrong. There WAS a new Young Justice in town......Just, nobody knew about it yet...They had only worked together twice tho'...so it wasn't like she was KEEPING anything from her 'boss'....she just hadn't filed the case reports yet.
She connected to andrew's, Riel's, Lucy's, and Aspens com devices.
"Guys. This is Falcon(She refused telling them her real name or ever taking off her mask) your needed in Star City ASAP. A Bedlam Mini Me is attacking the city." She said as she threw a exploding batarang at one of the assualting cabbage patch dolls, blowing it up....Always KNEW those things were evil.
"Calling in your widdle friends? Great! Even more fun." Mini Bedlam laughed and willed a anvil over Falcons head that she rolled out of the way of at the last second.
NutiketAiel - July 24, 2004 06:47 PM (GMT)
Falcon? THE Falcon? The one his dad had told him...
No, wait. The years were wrong. This had to be the second Falcon, the daughter... what was her name? Skyla? Something like that. After Dad had come back from the 21st century, he had updated the historical records to include a number of young heroes that had otherwise never been mentioned, and done research unearthing some of their successors.
Not that that mattered much to Lyle. He was a physicist, not a historian.
Quickly he took stock of the situation. Bedlam... his Dad had mentioned this wierdo, too. Near omnipotence with the mind of a child. Dad had described him as a semi-formidable challenge, nothing on Mordru, but still something to be careful of.
"Calling in your widdle friends? Great! Even more fun."
"You want fun?" Time Lad asked as he lifted off from the pavement beside Falcon, rising up to look Bedlam in the eye. "Why don't you try a Legionnaire on for size?" Time Lad smiled, then focused his power on the boy, attempting that which he was so practiced at and which he had done so many times before- freezing time around him, effectively putting the boy in stasis.
**What the Hey?! Gabriel, Lucy-Fern and Andrew aren't heroes. they've never been heroes and as far as their parents are aware they never will be. Pretty sure this goes for Aspen too.
Can you please PM me the basic plot here seeing as our wires must be crossed like WHOA. **
Shinigami - July 24, 2004 08:19 PM (GMT)
*Explained to Lani...all is reasonably good*
She smiled at the space where her friends had shadow ported out. She quickly cleared away any remaining glasses and the wine bottle, not wishing her mum to return and see that they had been doing their rebellious under-aged drinking once again.
She turned to look at the front door, her mother still wasn't home yet..."typical" she whispered to herself. She had gotten use to it, it's not as though her entire life she had learnt to bring up herself or anything, her mother had always been there when she asked for help...but her mother...she was an angel of death...she had debts to pay that made her devout the remainder of her life to others in the hope of easing her conscience and soul just a little.
Aspen had been training from a young age with her mother, learning the ways of survival and fighting so that she too could perhaps one day spend her life assisting others. The idea appealed to her...she was already part of a make shift reconstruction of Young Justice...she hoped that if she could prove herself to be an invaluable member to said team then...perhaps she could earn the right to fight with her mum...help ease that burden so they could be a better family...her mother was still distant with others...not wanting to "taint them" she had said once...
Suddenly Aspen's co-link went off, she grabbed the device and switched it open to hear the voice of Falcon on the other end. "Guys. This is Falcon, your needed in Star City ASAP. A Bedlam Mini Me is attacking the city."
"Right!" Aspen said as she took the stairs two at a time to her room, she swiftly donned her costume consisting of a pair of tight fitting, hard wearing leather trousers that protecting her legs relatively adequately, although they came down dangerously low. She knew her mum would disapporve of the radical piece of clothing, which was half the reason she wore them. Over the trousers she wore a pair of shin high sturdy boots with fire red laces that supported her shins and protected them. She wore a thin, red, sleeveless, tight fitting top that didn't even come close to covering her flat, toned stomach.
Over this she sported a bulletproof police vest, which had been cut short. It had been placed upon a dummy and almost ripped in half buy armour piercing bullets during a police test to show the new armaments available on the street...it had simply been discarded afterwards...it covered the top half of her torso, at least protecting her heart and lungs.
About her right thigh she donned a belt which secured her knife to her...a present from her mother which she had relieved off of one of her old demon pals from Hell, it appeared smallish...the blade about 9 inches in length but when she called upon it's power it grew in length to form a sword.
Over everything she wore a sleeveless trench coat with two long slits in the back to allow her to conjure her rouge energy wings. She had learnt the hard way about burning her shirt with the energy wings. She was gifted with the red energy that her mother wielded, she could create the spears but also mild energy blast and the ability to conjure these wings that gave her flight even though they took a lot of effort to maintain.
She grabbed a discarded hair band and tied back her long hair save the few strands that fell over her eyes, framing her face, partially obscuring her brilliant green eyes that were flashing with a calculated eagerness.
She flipped open her com-link and called on the two twins and Andrew, hoping that they were suiting up as well. "Guys...we're on call, I need a ride, any offers?" Aspen's voice was cold with a cocky tinge, her usual laid back mood dissolving as she swapped to business mode, a fraction of Shinigami's sinister edge could be seen in Aspen as a smirk grooved into the features of her pretty face.
Tall:Order - July 24, 2004 10:32 PM (GMT)
Twinkle who has the power to shape change due to her parents combined genetic
make up. she also has her mothers vodun link and her fathers fighting spirit. in other words don't tick her off
Hours. Or it seemed like hours. That's how long she'd been lying in her cell staring up at the ceiling. How did people survive spending 20 year behind bars when she'd spent a night in the cell and already she wanted out. "What time is it?" Twinkle said as she stretched, sitting up.
"About 6 am. Ain't your Dad comin'?" Her Cell mate said as she turned over in her
bed and tried to drown out the sound of her cell mates voice.
"He'll come." Twinkle said as she stood up, and looked stuck her hand out from
between the bars, stretching to see if she could get out, "But in case he doesn't come, I guess I could try and get out myself."
Twinkle's Cell mate finally turned over and looked at her, "Don't you think you're in
enough trouble as it is?" She said as she sat up and yawned, "and why're you still
wearing those sunglasses?"
"I'm here pretty much every Saturday, without fail, I think it's a safe bet that I won't be in more trouble then I was last time." She said as she produced a short Purple and golden stick from her pocket, "And the sunglasses make it so people aren't freaked." she said as she pulled the stick apart revealing to blades.
"Cool, knives, how'd you get it past the security in here?" Twinkle's cell mate said as she admired the two knives.
"Simple, threatened to Frag anybody who tried to take it, it's a family airloom."
Twinkle smiled as she began sawing through the bars of the cell.
"Man, you really don't wanna get out of here this month do you?" Twinkle's cellmate said as she climbed back into her bed.
"No, I wanna get out of here soone--" Twinkle stopped as she heard two people coming towards her, "Oh, Frell!" She said as she the bar fell out of place and onto the floor, she quickly tried to reach it but it had already rolled out of reach, and by the time she got it, the two people had already made it to her, one of the faces was an officer, then other was someone who was painfully familiar, "Hey Dad, just...uhm, testing...." she said as the officer and her father shook their heads.
Half an hour and a lot of apologising later....
"So, what ezactly where you thinkin'?" Slo-bo said as his daughter sat in the back seat of the her Dad's hog, absolutely silent, "I mean, you knew I was comin', if yer Mum was comin' she'd've killedja."
Twinkle suddenly looked up at the mention of her Mother, "Oh, man, your not gonna tell Mom are you! PLEASE, don't tell Mom!" Twinkle pleaaded as she sprung up from the Backseat.
Slo-bo looked back at her, this had been like the8 th time she'd been arrested, for fighting, how on Earth she got into a bar in the first place was beyond him, plus she stole her Mother's Emperor Stick, she was begging to be punished....but he couldn't a few years ago he was exactly the same, it was in her genes to be a tad....fight happy, "I won't tell yer Mom, but you gotta put the Emperor Stick back," Slo-bo said not bothering to look around but he knew that Twinkle was smiling, "and gimme those sunglasses."
"Dad, c'mon, they make me look so c--" Twinkle stopped for a moment, it was best not to push her Dad, he was always soft on her but she didn't wanna push it, she moved her braided dark red hair out of the way and took the sunglasses of revealing purple eyes with markings around akin to the ones on all Czarnian faces.
"Thanx." Slo-bo said smiling as he put the Glasses in his back pocket, "Your Mom's out and I'm gonna be busy helpin' out yer Grandparents, so you're staying at home alone. DO NOT BREAK ANYTHIN'!" Slo-bo stressed as Twinkle kind of flinched in her seat, the Bike began to slow as they landed in front of Anita's old house, nothing had changed at all. The Bike landed and Twinkle climbed off, "Be good kid."
"Love you, Dad." Twinkle said smiling.
"Back at'cha, Kid." Slo-bo said putting on Twinkle's sunglasses as he flew away. Twinkle went back into the house and put the emperor stick back into it's glass case, her Mom hadn't used it since she last used the name Empress, these days she was Agent Fite and she worked For APES, along side her Parents...which was especially weird since they were younger than her. She turned on the TV and then layed back onto the couch, Couch Potato time begun. Now.
Later that day
A few hours later and the only muscle that had moved on Twinkle's body was the one in her fingers, she'd spent the entire day just constantly changing through the channels, she was ready to change channel again when something caught her eye. Masked heroes being attacked by Cabbage Patch Dolls, the Ultimate Evil.
She immediatly sat up as the Details were beamed across the screen, everytime she saw more she got more excited, this was definetly what she wanted out of her day. Action. Hitting things repeatedly and most importantly a reason to were the badass costume she'd made.
She immediatly ran upstairs and into her room, she pulled open the doors of her wardrobe and pulled out the costume she'd 'made'. It was kind of odd but it definetly was cool. It was Leather Pants with huge boots like her Fathers, with a Big Skull on her belt. She put on a Grey top with a pentogram on it, underneath a leather biker jacket. She looked at the costume in the Mirror and smiled, perfect.
She ran out of the door just as the phone began to ring, before she shut the door she quickly ran back in and ran upstairs, the phone when to the answer machine.
"Twinkle? Are you there? It's Mom. Listen, I've heard about the situation in Star City." Twinkle could here the message being played, she ran into her Dad's room and got his old Chain and attached it to her belt, then she ran back downstairs and got her Mother's Emperor's stick and attached that to the belt as well, "Please, this is important, please don't go out there, this guy looks like one of our old Rogues, we'll handle this one, just wait a se--Oh, cr--" The Phone went dead, and Twinkle hadn't heard half the message, she'd ran out as soon as she got all of her gear, the Super Cycle was already on it's way there.
Robin - July 25, 2004 07:59 AM (GMT)
(Jeeze, I'm not online for ONE day, and look at all that happens... :P ^_^ )
Wes was shocked to see two new peopel materialize out of no where. Sure, he lived in a world where meta-humans were common place and stuff, but it was still a shock to see.
"Well no duh, kid. What gave it away. The purple aura and god-like abilities or the blond hair?" the mystery girl said sarcasticly. "If I were you I'--"
Wes shared the sudden wide eyed expression that the girl was now giving him. He knew this girl. Or rather, he'd seen her before. After he had discovered the truth about his dad being Robin, Wes had done some background checking. He had discovered about his father's associates such as Batman, Nightwing and of course Falcon.
But she couldn't be the original Falcon. This girl was far too young and the costume was different. Besides, Rachel Simmions was dead. So who was she? A daughter perhaps?
The young man shook his head and gave her a smirk. "Nice outfit. An S&M convention in town?" he shot back, just before Bedlam spoke.
"Hey! Super freaks! I'M supposed to be the center of attention around here." A yound version of bedlam shouted, looking down from his floating throne as he watched the people run as monter cabbage patch dolls raided the city.
"You've gotta be kidding me," Wes mumbled, before backflipping out the reach of an attacking Cabbage patch doll.
Wes had read the old newspaper clippings and such about Young Justice andthe Teen Titans back when his father was a masked hero. Of course Robin was never mentioned, and people like Superboy and Wonder Girl got all the credit, but Wes supposed that was because Robin was supposed to be an urban legend.
Anyways, he had read about how the teenheroes had fought Bedlam in the past, and there was once a really lengthy artical by award winning GNN reporter Ace Atchinson, about when Young Justice battle Bedlam after the earth had been seperated into a kid's world and adult's world.
He landed into a croutch, before leaping up and side-kicking the offending mutant child toy in the head, knocking it back a few paces.
Being the son of two FBI agents, it wasn't suprising that his mother had demanded taht Wes take martial art classes at an early age. Thankfully, Wes had enjoyed the classes and worked hard in them. So hard that he had risen to a second degree black belt by the age of 12.
Wes picked up a long lead-pipe he found near the mouth of an alley. Spinning it in his hand, the boy used the pipe as a makeshift bo-staff. "This'll have to do."
Unlike some kids of super-heroes, Wes had no thoughts of taking up the 'family business'. Hell, his father was barely family. But that didn't mean he was going to let this freak kill someone. Wes knew he couldnt' take Bedlam, but he could at least keep the giant dolls from hurting people.
"Calling in your widdle friends? Great! Even more fun."
"You want fun?" Time Lad asked as he lifted off from the pavement beside Falcon, rising up to look Bedlam in the eye. "Why don't you try a Legionnaire on for size?"
Wes watched as the boy flew up to face Bedlam and apparently attempt to use his powers whatever they were on the villian.
"Oh come on... Does he actually think that's going to work?" Wes mumbled aloud not hidding the scoff. "That probably isn't even the real Bedlam he's attacking. Most likely an after-image... Bedlam might have the mind of a child, but he isn't stupid. He usually sends three-dimensional images of himself out into battle so that way he doesn't put his real body in danger." He paused to look at Falcon and suddenly realized that he had said that all aloud. His face suddenly went bright red.
"What? I do alot of reading..."
Shinigami - July 25, 2004 07:36 PM (GMT)
Andrew smoked jumped directly in front of Aspen, his sudden appearance caused her to back up a pace in surprise much to his amusement, after all, a little harmless fun ran in the family!
"Of course young lady...although I've always known that you guys only keep me around to be your personal clean up service and taxi!" Andrew said with a feigned mortified expression, he was fully decked out in his "working clothes".
"Great response time you've got there taxi!" Aspen said with an appreciative nod of her head as Drew grabbed her hand, a look of controlled anticipation on his face.
"Ready for a ride?" He smirked, smoke jumping was a peculiar experience within itself and even more so when he transported someone else with him, he kept a tight hold of Aspen's hand and within seconds they were at Star City amidst a stream of cabbage patch dollies running rampant and a few scattered kids in costumes.
"You called." Aspen said with a crooked grin, announcing their arrival.
"What? I do a lot of reading..."
Aspen turned her attention to this new comer...not that she had worked with Falcon more then a handful of times but she had clear bonds with three of YJ's members, the Twins, Drew and herself were a tight knit group and were often hostile and untrusting of others. They had only conceded to Falcon's assistance out of respect of her experience, but they neither bowed nor obeyed anyone.
She quickly scanned the boy's aura, another extremely helpful skill that she had acquired from her mother...but whereas her mother always refrained from reading others unless it was necessary, Aspen had no objection to prying. Duo had always told her that, from the Titans she had learnt that, in battle was where you had to hold onto your morals above all things...it was in battle that Aspen let hers waver. If she needed to use extreme force then she had no objection to it, or to machinate her comrades to get a job done!
<Hmmm, he seems very assured of himself...he's still alive so far so he must be able to hold his own...> she concluded her green eyes ablaze, an asset of hers which often drew many to her out of fascination and often warned many to stay away. She concentrated and a forceful wind grew about her as a cascade of rouge spears appeared and she sent them in all directions, ripping through the cabbage patch minions...she had never been a fan of dolls!
She turned her startling gaze on Drew who had been zipping about taking down a few cute faced minions. "Drew, the twins should be here soon enough, we'll concentrate on taking the minions down, when they arrive our forces will be stronger and hopefully we'll be able to take on the purple kid. The bookworm seems to have an idea on who we're facing." She said keeping an eye on Wes.
Drew nodded his agreement and sort about running in circles around a bunch of cabbage patch dollies, the wind hoisting them into the air as Aspen picked them off with her spears.
| The young man shook his head and gave her a smirk. "Nice outfit. An S&M convention in town?" he shot back, just before Bedlam spoke. |
"...Shutup..." She said, her right eye twitching slightly. This guy was just as smartmouthed as her. Not fair.
She back kicked an approaching doll with ease, kicking it back into a nearby building window.
"Calling in your widdle friends? Great! Even more fun."
"You want fun?" Time Lad asked as he lifted off from the pavement beside Falcon, rising up to look Bedlam in the eye. "Why don't you try a Legionnaire on for size?"
"Of all the..." She brought her head down into her hands and rubbed her forehead as if she had a headache and then brought her head back up to yell. "Hey! Your going to get yourself killed! Get back down here!"
Wes watched as the boy flew up to face Bedlam and apparently attempt to use his powers whatever they were on the villian.
"Oh come on... Does he actually think that's going to work?" Wes mumbled aloud not hidding the scoff. "That probably isn't even the real Bedlam he's attacking. Most likely an after-image... "What? I do alot of reading..."
She raised an eyebrow. He definitely seemed to know what he was doing
"No kidding. Well, from one ex-Bat members kid to another......If you know that much, you should know the only way to bring him down is to out smart or out annoy him OR get a neural inhibitor" She sighed and puled a mini torch out of her belt. "Which I'd have to go back to the cave fro or call bats." And she already had a feeling that she'd be grounded(literlally) for leaving the cave. Dang.
She fired up the blow torch and used it to melt any cabbage patch dolls that got within a twelve foot radius of either her or Wes.
_-_-
Bedlam freezed for a second. It looked like Time Lads plan had worked....
NOT!
Bedlam grinned. "Dude, that would soooo work if my powers weren't will based. But guess what?" Two large purple baseball mats clapped down on Lyle Junior hard as if they had caugght a fly. "They are!" A piece of debris flew by and hit bedlm in the head....ok, more like phased through it.
Wes had been right. Hologram.
Skyla grunted and her torch died down as so did the cabbage patch dolls. She looked up to see that at least 'Time Lad' had been able to distract bedlam from creating more forces.
"Guys. We have to work quickly while he's not looking. Aspen--" She tossed her a small device. "I need you to fly over star city. This should scan his energy signiture back to its origin. Kay?"
IN HAPPY HARBOR
"CLARK!" Batman barked as he stood his ground in the twisted child-like adults fortress.
"I'm on it!" Superman flew past bruce quicker than a speeding bullet and, after they had been fighting Bedlam for nearly an hour, managed to get a Nerual Blocker on him. He was still consious, but subdued.
Then, after much strunggling with the now human 'god' dinah managed to get the lasso around him.
"How did you get out of the Phatom zone, Mathew. What do you have planned?"
"Oh comeon. Do you really expect me to not have an extra around?" Bedlam said, struggling to break thrugh the ropes to get the thing off his head so he could bust these guys up. He looked around, expecting them to answer. "Anyone? Hmm? No?"
He sighed. "I created a younger version of me in a demenional pocket incase I was ever trapped or Jailed. HE freed me from the Zone."
Wonderwoman pulled her rope tighter and batman punched him the jaw. "And?"
Bedlam smiled evily. "And you old loosers just let your granny kids walk into a trap."
Gar was half way through a buzz when he decided to turn on the tv and try to get off the bottle.
He flipped through the channels and almost settled on some comedy when he saw the news. On the screen, he saw Bedlam, and instantly sobered up.
"Whazzup wit' that!" he still had a slight slur in his speech, but he was definately on the fast road to sober.
He jumped out of the bed, pulled on some clothes, and rushed out of the room. He stopped outside of Raven's door and knocked, but he didn't get an answer. He couldn't wait, so he rushed off.
He ran down to Cyborg's room and got in, going for the 'port tube that he and Cyborg had been able to filch out of the JLA hq turned YJ hq. He programmed Star City's coordinates and stepped into the tube.
A few seconds later, he appeared in Star City, on top of a skyscraper. Looking down, he could see a few teenagers fighting Cabbage Patch Dolls. "My God, I have seen some crazy stuff in my life, but this is way past ridiculous."
He turned into a bird and jumped, gliding down to the ground. When he got there, he found that he was not quite as sober as he thought, for nausea attacked him as he shifted.
He focused and attacked the nearest doll, sending it flying through the air with the greatest of ease.
((Seriously, what do you guys want from me? I had never even HEARD of this villain before he attacked our characters over in World Without Titans. :P ))
"Now remember, son, you can't attack Bedlam directly because he usually..."
"HEY, LYLE!!" interupted Cub's voice in the memory, "Wildfire said we could use the holo-trainers today!! I'm gonna fight Batman; wanna come?"
"Gee, Dad, can I go?"
A sigh... "Sure, Lyle, go ahead. We'll continue this discussion later."
"ALL RIGHT!! If you're fighting Batman, I claim Green Lantern!!"
That was the memory that passed through Time Lad's mind as he strugled against Bedlam's grasp. The discussion had never been continued- it was three days later that Lyle Norg sr., Invisible Kid, had been destroyed. Lyle Norg, jr., now desperately wished that he had NOT been quite so eager to get his nass kicked by a holographic Justice Leaguer all those years ago.
Will based? Well, that made no sense at all; why would that... oh, a holo. Great. THAT was why it hadn't worked.
Still, all was not lost. Falcon had been calling on some other heroes just before he came up, so if he could just keep this fool distracted long enough... Of course, he could just speed up Falcon and her friends when they arrive relative to the rest of the world to give them a better chance of catching Bedlam by surprise, but focusing his power on them would likely also focus Bedlam's attention on them.
So he continued to vainly struggle against the giant... glove-like things... that were holding him and turned his attention back to Bedlam. "You sprocking little brat!! My father told me about you, some little twerp who thinks he's all powerful. You know something? I've fought 'all-powerful' before, and you're just a sick joke. I'd like to see you run into Mordru or the Time Trapper, or even just the Emerald Eye. You'd probably soil your sprocking diaper, that's what you'd do. Now let me go and come out here and fight like a man!!"
"Or at least fight like a boy; you can do that, can't you?" Lyle heaped his pronouncements with scorn.
Aspen caught the device, her emerald eyes scanned over it and she cocked her head to one side. Falcon was right, the source needed to be detected; she shook her head a little her long black hair swaying diligently. Falcon was be far the most experienced of them in the field but she worked with a particular type of individual, the bat-clan members abilities were very similar...she hadn't worked too often with a team like this whose abilities were so varied. For Aspen, Drew and the Twins it was a very different story, they had practically grown up with one another and knew each other powers well, had trained together.
Aspen nodded to Falcon, she respected Falcon who was not blessed with meta-human abilities or otherwise but was still by far an invaluable asset to the team...but having the four of them only work with her twice meant that they were still as much of a mystery to her as she to them.
"Drew catch!" Aspen yelled throwing the device at Drew who caught it easily with a questioning look. "Falcon's right, we need to know the source, you can cover this entire area much faster then I could." Drew nodded his agreement and set off with a flash as Aspen ran to stand next to Falcon shooting at a few of the cabbage patch dollies as she did. "Just maximising our potential." She said to the masked girl with a light smile. "We could do so even more if you let us in on what we're facing here." Aspen stated, quickly followed by a battle cry as she grabbed her blade and forced her rouge energy into it's frame as the blade grew to form a 4ft sword in her clenched grasp which she used to cut down more of the cute faced minions.
(Well Jim, now you know how most of us feel towards Mordu and Time Trapper. :P )
Wes had been doing what he could to protect the innoccent people from Bedlam's forces. He was frankly very suprised as the high he was getting from all this. He had never really considered what it would be like to be a Super-hero before. Sure, he had played 'Super-hero' when he was a kid, but he never thought about what it was really like.
And frankly he liked it.
Lord help him, he actually liked it.
Wes swung his makeshift bo-staff taking off the head of one of the dolls, in time to look and see Time Lad frantically yelling in a last ditch attempt at Bedlamn. That guy was getting really despreate if he thought yelling names who most people had never heard of was going to do anything.
Names like Mordur and Emerald Eye could be cartoon characters as far as Bedlam, (a boy who litterally had the power of a god and who could control reality) was concerned.
Wes' turn his eyes to Falcon who had thrown a devise towards one of the other new arrivals. A sudden thought occured to him. True, he wasn't a super-hero and true he wasn't normally involved in this sort of thing, but all those stories and books he had read had to do something to help.
"Um... Falcon or whatever your name is," Wes said a low-voice, so only she could hear him. "Don't you have a sonic blaster or something in that belt of yours? I mean, Bedlam's image is simply solified mystical energy. If we could hit it with a blast of sonic energy that should distort the image for a second or two and maybe force it to relase your pal up there."
He knew he was speaking out of term, but judging from the way things were going with Time Lad, anything suggested could maybe help.
Keyword being MAYBE.
The blue Ford Escort raced through the frantic streets of Star City, with Tim Drake at the wheel, most likely breaking ever traffic law in the book. After they had found Wes missing Drake and Reilly had seen the news footage of the attack in Star City. And Drake had caught sight of Wes amongst the assembalge of Teen heroes on the scene.
"I can't believe he's doing this!" Reilly groaned. "He's no hero! He's a 14 year old boy!"
"So was I when I became Robin," Tim replied.
"Shut up!" Reilly snapped. "Wes never wanted to be a Super-hero. He wasn't to be a writer for god's sake! And now he's going to get himself killed!"
"Not if I have anything to say about it."
It had been nearly 15 years since he had fought Bedlam, but Tim was hoping that he still remember all the old tricks.
“Oh Boy. Could she have yelled more? I mean, I got it after the first ‘What were you thinking’” Lucy-fern laid on her bed, flipping through yet another fashion magazine.
“I’m guessing ‘I wasn’t, you gotta problem with that’ wasn’t the best answer though”
Gabriel smiled from across the hall while he played the first strings of ‘Gifts and Curses’ on his guitar.
“I didn’t say that! ….did I? I mean it would explain all the yelling.” She questioned herself.
“You were thinking it, I can tell.” He smirked. They often talked like this; their rooms were opposite one another on the top floor of their suburban house so they had privacy with the ability to communicate.
“Maybe so. I know this is the third time I got you suspended with me, does she have to yell at me for what you did too?” Lucy disappeared into her closet to change her top, the wine soaked one shadow ported into the already in cycle washing machine
Riel tuned his guitar “Fourth. And I think she was adding in the 8 other times it was just you.”
“Well I couldn’t get my big brother into all that trouble now could I?” She reappeared in a white top with the Wonder Woman symbol emblazoned “It was only the cheerleaders, they won’t mind.”
“You dyed all the uniforms black.” He shook his head; their mom hated that shirt for some reason. Lucy-Fern was just calling for a fight.
“It teaches that Jessica O’Neil about who she can boss around. I mean, who does she think she is huh?!” She pouted as she pulled her hair into bunches. “And you didn’t need to cover for me you know.” She looked at him through the mirrors reflection.
“She’s the head cheerleader Auria, it’s her job to tell you what to do.” He smirked using her twin name.
“Loki!! She was just being bossy!! And I so knew this fashion was going to be in!!!” She indicated the shirt; retro heroes had become a fashion craze. “And Amy thought it would just die after the first two weeks. You should wear the S shield you know.”
“---” He looked at his sister. “Your kidding right?”
“Oh yeah, your “too cool” to follow fashions” She smiled opening her backpack, taking out a small device. “Hey Riel, what does it mean if this thing flashes?”
“Oh damnit.” Gabriel put down his guitar and took it from Lucy-Fern. His sister promises to look after the very important comm unit and what happens? She puts it on silent. Useful.
"Guys. This is Falcon your needed in Star City ASAP. A Bedlam Mini Me is attacking the city."
“Lets go.” He stated.
***************
Cassie sighed, she didn’t like yelling at the twins and most of the time Gabriel didn’t deserve it.
Lucy had inherited Wills nature, not caring what others thought and it often got her into trouble, dragging the protective Riel along with her.
She carried the blame really in some way, not always being there, spending time away on movie sets since she broke out onto the Hollywood scene 10 years ago, when the twins were only 5.
Before that Will had toured the world with his band ‘Hellspawn’ and his wife and children, making it difficult for them to settle down, most likely the reason for the closeness between the two of them.
They had decided on Angel names for one another when the concept of guardian angels was explained to them and this was something only the two understood.
She walked into the study where Will was working on his case files. She wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him “I don’t think she listened. Again. How’s she doing in training?”
Ever since he quit being an active titan Will had just kept an eye on the hero business. When he went touring with his band he gained his sources all over the globe, which were now invaluable to his DEO job. He was a Specialist Demon Consultant, a job that kept strange hours and introduced him to many of the underworlds minions. His basic job was to classify the demon, what laws it had broken and its powers for future reference. He also got the job of talking with them, many at the department couldn’t believe this average looking guy could walk into a holding cell and come out 30 minutes later with the information they needed. Frequently many of his ‘Clients’ showed up with mysterious scratch marks that looked like familiar claw marks.
The only time he’d ever brought the subject up was with Duo who had denied any knowledge of the situation and it had just been left at that.
“Training? Well, I can’t say she’s not up for a fight. Her fighting technique is amazing, she never holds back, maybe a little too vicious. She still has trouble shadowporting though and just cant seem to stay calm long enough to link with the white magic but she makes up for this over her healing control, better than Riel at it. Riel on the other hand doesn’t attack enough, he has the same skill as Lucy but he’s too defensive. The white magic and shadowporting are no problem for him.”
Will left out the incident from earlier. One of the holo-bots had got in a lucky shot, which took Lucy out. Less than a minute later all the bots had been destroyed by the usually gentle Gabriel. If he had still been Harm he would have thought him a very dangerous opponent. “You know, you could help with the training if you told them you were a hero, just Wonder Girl even….” He asked the question even though he already knew the answer.
“We talked about this Cookie. I’m not telling them I was Wonder Girl or Wonder Woman. Just think of our old villains who could hurt them. I don’t want them to be harassed any more than they are because of who I am, being in movies makes it hard enough for them. I know you think the wig is a little extreme sometimes but its worth it to just be able to live in a normal neighbourhood. I like the idea of a normal life. Is that too much to ask for?”
Will pulled her around onto his lap smiling “Whatever you want. I agree with your reasons, but in a way Lucy might see you as something more than just her mom. She might see you as her friend too, a mentor.”
Cassie smiled. “Why do I have to be a hero for that to happen? I’m happy to just be her mom. It would just be safer if they didn’t want to get in on the hero business at all.”
***********
Gabriel and Lucy-Fern stepped out of the shadows and looked at the scene.
They stood side-by-side, ready to fight. Lucy dressed in a short blue dress, its dungaree like clasps low enough to show off the Wonder symbol with white knee high socks to finish the look. Riel, who hadn’t run around trying to find the right look, had stuck with his basic badass black jeans and red t-shirt.
After taking out the surrounding dolls they looked for other heroes. Seeing the costumed Falcon, a seemingly normal teen, an unknown hero being set upon by a childlike entity, Aspen and a the speed trail of Andrew they walked over, Lucy in the lead.
“Ok, I wanna talk to the hero in charge of this situation so I know who’s orders to ignore.” Lucy shouted “Hey Aspen! What’s going on?”
Shinigami - July 28, 2004 01:02 AM (GMT)
Duo struggled with the key in the lock, but soon enough heard the decisive click of the lock giving and she stumbled into the house, dumping the bag into the hall along with her shoes which she ripped from her feet with a sigh of relief, twirling her ankles and wriggling her toes to relieve the strain.
She could sense instantly that Aspen wasn't in the house, her daughter’s aura, although imprinted on almost the entire house, seemed to be lacking and Duo sighed in mild annoyance. She knew of her daughter's adventures out fighting crime, had no doubt that Aspen could handle herself but this didn't stop her from worrying.
It was then she noticed the draw of the table in the hallway was slightly ajar. Duo dipped her hand in and withdrew the white envelope Will had placed there. Duo shook her head in annoyance as she open the envelope, and sure enough, within it there was a clump of money.
"They are too good to us." Duo muttered as she re-sealed the envelope. The first time she had had to ask for money from her two friends was when she had come home to find an eviction notice on her door, she had asked for a loan...a one off...that she had every intention of paying back...
Money was more then tight for Duo and Aspen...the teaching job she had didn't pay well, the school was a hell pit in short, extremely run down and on the verge of closing down. The money wasn't great, the facilities appalling and the students a nightmare...but Duo had set out to help the less fortunate and there was no point in attempting to do so in a highly paid prep school! So she made do, trying to help as many as she could and she actually loved the job, being one of the few teachers who seemed to have a immunity granted by the students who actually seemed to like her as a teacher...finding her unorthodox approach fascinating.
Neither Aspen, Drew or the Twins attended the school, their parents blatantly refusing to subject their children to it's harsh regime...and Cass and Will had also refused to allow Aspen to attend it, already severely disapproving of Duo taking a job there when she could have just as easily been granted a job at a far better educational institute. So the couple had kindly offered to pay for Aspen's school fees and every now and then white envelopes, like the one Duo now held, would appear about the house. Duo had often tried to return the envelops un-opened, flying to Cass and Will's house only to find that by the time she had returned the Will had shadow-ported the money back to Duo's house.
Duo placed the envelop back in the draw and smiled, she would have to thank the two of them...but first...a cup of tea...
“Ok, I wanna talk to the hero in charge of this situation so I know who’s orders to ignore.” Lucy shouted “Hey Aspen! What’s going on?”
Aspen rolled her eyes whilst slashing through several minions with her blade. There were times that Lucy-Fern could be absolutely intolerable, and she was already stating her unwillingness to abide to orders...it was a very rare occasion that Luc would listen to anyone, on occasion Aspen could get through to the girl...the best thing was to convince Riel it was a good idea and hope that his words would influence his over-eager sister to concede.
"Luc, Reil, nice of you to show!" Aspen retorted, her tone annoyed due to a cabbage patched minion hanging onto the end of her black ponytail, ripping out a few strands of the vivid red that tainted the tips. She reached back and grabbed the doll, throwing it into the air before she sliced it in half. "Apparently we have a version of bedlam we're fighting...I don't know much about him but as of yet Drew is scanning the area for the source, the new kid is the distraction and we're just keeping the cute-face annoying enemy at bay. Ready for a little action Luc...or don't you think you can handle the little dollies?" Aspen asked cockily...Aspen knew that by winding Luc up like that would make her all the more effective in taking down the dolls and what Luc did Riel would often concede to following suit. "What about you Reil...up for some action?"
Tall:Order - July 28, 2004 11:45 PM (GMT)
Twinkle and the Super Cycle flew at top speed towards Star City, finally arriving there and seeing the incredible mess that Bedlam and his Crop of Cabbage patch dolls had created. She'd the beginning of it, but Ogun knows that she wasn't going to make sure she was going to be part of the end. The Super-Cycle landed on top of the building it's engine creaking slightly do to the fact that know one really knew how to fix it or tune it up, Slo-bo had trouble opening the hood and even if he did know how to fix it, he'd be banned from New Genesis after that Darkseid incident.
The Cycle began floating in the air, raring for battle, Twinkle looked downwards at the battle and looked over at the Cycle, "Cycle, do me a favour a--" The Cycle began to sputter and backfire, it began to loose altitude, though other might call it falling helplessly, "and fall helplessly to the ground leaving me stranded up here...thanx." Twinkle looked around for some way to get down, but the closest she could get was sliding down the side of the building. She smiled and wrapped her Father's prized chain around her arm, she dived off of the side of the building with the hook in her hand, the hook rips through the stone of the building slowing her descent to the ground, ensuring that she wouldn't be street pizza with Cabbage patch dolls on the side.
"Whoa!!" A Crowd of Dolls had gathered around her landing spot, she grabbed part of her Emperor's stick and pulled it out of it's holster, she span it as ast as possible around her hands chopping through the dolls, it seemed kinda of sick cutting through something so 'cute' but it had to be done. "C'mon this the best you got!" She said as she landed in the patch of Dolls and began rooting through them tearing through them with her Dad's chain and her Mum's Emperor stick, her parents were both ferocious fighters something made clear by the way Twinkle handled her weapons, they tore through each doll and then immediatly moved on to the next one, fighting was something natural, it was instinct, to her it wasn't fighting, it was breathing, and she needed to do both to survive.
"Hey!!" Twinkle shouted as one of the CBDs latched onto her arm and pulled them down almost to the ground, "Get..." Twinkle's muscles tensed and she stabbed the CBD in the chest disabling it, "OFF!" Twinkle said pulling her arm up with all of her strength and accidently releasing her a Half of her Emperor's stick sending it flying. She looked on angrily as the stick landed on top of a car. Twinkle's head snapped towards the CBD that had made her throw her staff, "GO GET IT!!" Twinkle said as she through the CBD towards the Fallen Stick.
She swung the chain around herself clearing the area and then ran towards were her weapon lay but as soon as she was near enough more CBDs had gathered in front of her, suddenly the distance between herself and her Mother's Weapon seemed a lot harder to reach. "Alright, it's a fraggin' you want, it's a fraggin' you're gonna get." she said as she took the other half of the Emperor stick and held it in her hand, squeezing the blade of the weapon hard until her palm drew blood, "Ogun, Gros Bon Ange, I know I'm not sitting here naked, there's no dead chicken as a sacrifice, no flames either, but right now, I need your power, I don't wanna chop open my fraggin' hand for no reason, so please let the Blood Trick wo--" The Blood dripping from her hand stopped dripping, she concentrated on her wound and more blood came out slowly forming into a Katana Sword. She smiled and took of her Jacket wrapping it around her waist, she dove towards the Dolls and slashed through them but they kept coming, where they were coming from was a good question but not one she was thinking about, she flipped over the whole group of dolls and drew more blood from her hand, this time forming it into blades, they flew towards the dolls impaling each one. More blood and this time she formed blades similar to her Emperor stick. She noticed a Doll going for her stick and through one of her Blood blades towards it knocking it off of the car.
From behind more dolls came jumping onto her legs and lessening her movement she kicked the away but as always they still came, "Back off!" She said transforming her blood into a bat and knocking them off, "I said Back off!" she shouted as she swung wildly into the air, just barely missing a girl in leather with wings, "Jeez, sorry, mo--man, I get into these things...."
"Ready for a little action Luc...or don't you think you can handle the little dollies?" Aspen asked cockily...Aspen knew that by winding Luc up like that would make her all the more effective in taking down the dolls and what Luc did Riel would often concede to following suit. "What about you Reil...up for some action?"
Reil and Lucy looked at each other with devious smirks before turning back to Aspen. "You're on." Reil said as he summoned two sighs into his hands, Lucy followed suit by summoning two swords into her hands. Lucy launched the first attack charging at the Cabbage Patch Doll chopping it into four pieces, flipping over it jamming the swords into another one. Reil on the other hand was blocking the attacks with his sigh and acrobatically flipping out of the way. Jumping backwards over the doll that was going for a sneak attack, he landed with a drop kick knocking the dolls into each other. Lucy was attacking the dolls so viciously that she didn't notice that they were trying to pull the same tactic that failed with Riel attacking from the back. On instinct, Riel quickly threw one of the sighs which tore threw the doll and pinned it to the wall. Lucy quickly turned around and gave Riel a slight smirk. "I had it covered." She said as Riel returned the smirk. "Suuuure you did." He then shadowported out of the way of a doll that went flying towards him. Appearing from the doll's shadow, Riel let it run into the wall.
Lucy was spinning with both swords pointing out, slicing through multiple dolls at the same time. Even when she stopped spinning herself she continued spinning the swords, using them as a saw, sending the cotton inside the dolls flying everywhere. "It isn't just me? The more cute they try to act the more annoying they get?" One of the dolls then struck her arm, she glared at the doll and shoved the sword so hard in it's mouth that the handle was deep in the pavement. Pulling the sword out of the ground she chopped off to dolls' heads that were in front of her and shoving both swords into the dolls' bodies slung them into the dolls that were jumping at them. Seeing a bright white light Lucy turned her head to see that Riel was using a white forcefield to keep away the dolls off of him and then used the field to throw them off. With a few slices of her swords Lucy was able to slice through half of the dolls attacking her brother, before flashing another smirk. "I guess you had those too?" Riel stuck his tongue out at Lucy before shadowporting into the wall letting the dolls run full speed into it. He then appeared from Lucy's shadow. "Just watch out for yourself." Lucy said spinning her swords again. "Hey, I'm not the one with the shadowporting problem." Riel quipped back as he backflipped to the wall and rebounded off of it. "Oh shut up." Lucy said as she threw her sword at one of the dolls and healed the arm she had injured earlier.
Stepi01 - July 29, 2004 02:42 AM (GMT)
Changeling kept up his own assault on the Cabbage Patch dolls. As a gorilla, he picked up the dolls up two at a time and threw them into the masses. Sometimes, he would just pick one up, and then slam it into the ground.
Despite this, he was not making much progress. He was tiring quickly, and his timing was off because of the drinking he'd done earlier. Also, there was too many of the little monsters and this group seemed to be armed with some form of club, which they used to hit as they picked him up.
Not too far away, he could see others battling the dollies. One looked like Falcon, another bore a remarkable resemblence to Tim, and he could see someone with a Legion badge. He could also see a few others, two of them he thought were Will and Cassie's kids, but he wasn't sure. Then, of course, was the girl who had ridden in on the Super-cycle, so she had to be related to Slo-bo. And, up above, watching it all, was Bedlam, the annoying kid who'd started this whole ordeal.
"Go ahead, Beddy, watch." he shouted at the "Child God", "When I get with these critters, I'm going to shove their stuffing up your- WHOA!"
All of a sudden, several of the dolls coordinated their attack and Gar Logan found himself flying through the air, and he saw the pavement coming up to meet him.
BAM!
Falcon - July 29, 2004 03:06 AM (GMT)
Her mini torch had eventually gone out.
It was sooooooo like something like that to happen at a time like this. Why couldn't she just pull sometihng completely rediculous out of her belt that would save the whole day?
Ok, so it was corny and phsically impossible. But it would make things awhole lot easier.
One of the cute freaks managed to hit her square in the jaw and she fell back into an already ruined building.
She shook her headto clear out the ringing that was pounding in her ears and looked up to see a mass of Dolls/demons coming her way.
"You like playing rough huh?" She picked up a nearby board from the pile of debris she had landed in and started swinging.
"Um... Falcon or whatever your name is," Wes said a low-voice, so only she could hear him. "Don't you have a sonic blaster or something in that belt of yours? I mean, Bedlam's image is simply solified mystical energy. If we could hit it with a blast of sonic energy that should distort the image for a second or two and maybe force it to relase your pal up there."
She raised an eyebrow from beneath her mask. "Eh, I'm willing to give it a shot." She rumaged through her belt and soon found something close enough to a sonic blaster.
"You might want to cover your ears guys." She said lowly into her comlink as she threw the small little disk into the midst of things and pressed a small little detonator.
A sound similar to a high pitched scream rang out through the city for a full five minutes. Gotta love canary bombs.
The purple energy hands that clapsed time lad disolved and he fell back to earth, thankfully landing on a pile of damaged/dead cabbage patch dolls before they finally vanished too.
After the canary cry, the city was deadly silent for a second and the cabbage patch dolls seemed to have dissappeared completely seeing as those too were also stemmed from Bedlam 'Jrs' imagination.
A sultry clap cut through the silence like a knife and all the heroes in the city turned to see a boy of the exact resemblance to the original, young bedlam.
"Bravo. You batpeople always have had the neatest little 'toys'. "He smilied darkly and picked up a piece of debris, tossing it up and down as if it was a baseball. The group of young heroes eyes followed him, waiting for his next move. Time Lad had already shown why it wasn't a good idea to go for a frontal attack. "As you can see, this time I'm NOT a holograph. I'm the REAL Bedlam 2.0 You should feel honoured....." He frowned as he seemed to get no response. He yawned and with one swipe of his arm, a small tear in the time and space continuuim was breached....and slowly grew as he stood there, now with arms crossed. "Look. I COULD be playing video games right now and chitchatting with you hero types is BOR-ring! So if you don't mind, I'm just gonna finish up this little chore.....and be done." The rip grew and small pieces of debris was sucked in. Bedlam waved and, before anyone could say anything, he was gone. "Ta ta!"
>>Sorry if this is a little rushed. Just want to get to the point of the story.<<
Robin - July 29, 2004 03:56 AM (GMT)
>>Works for me. I was getting antsy myself<<
Wes covered his ears with his hands as Falcon threw the Canary Cry bomb at the Bedlam image. As he he hoped the high pitched sonic attack caused a brief interuption of Bedlam's power forcing the demi-god to release both Time Lad and to cause his monster to vanish.
"It work...?" Wes murmered in suprise. "Wow. It worked."
A sultry clap cut through the silence like a knife and all the heroes in the city turned to see a boy of the exact resemblance to the original, young bedlam.
"Bravo. You batpeople always have had the neatest little 'toys'. " He smilied darkly and picked up a piece of debris, tossing it up and down as if it was a baseball. The rip grew and small pieces of debris was sucked in. Bedlam waved and, before anyone could say anything, he was gone. "Ta ta!"
"HOLY-!" Wes yelped before getting pulled by the space/time rip created by Bedlam. Reaching out, Wes was about to grab a hold of a nearby lightpole. It was like something out of a cartoon as Wes' entire body was now horizontal in mid-air as he held onto the pole.
Slowly his hands began to loose their grip. The pull was just too strong.
"Dad... where are you when I need you..." he whispered before vanishing into the portal.
"You might want to cover your ears guys."
Aspen's eyes flared wide and he quickly sheathed her sword, it shrinking to its smaller size as she raised her hands to cover her ears. The blast was successful, causing Bedlam to loose his focus and the cute-faced minions dispersed much to the teen heroes relief.
Aspen slowly uncovered her ears, her brow furrowed as her eyes scanned the surrounding area. The bookworm, as she had come to think of him, had a shocked expression engraved into his features and a faint look of triumph, Aspen hid a smile and her gaze diverted to Twinkle who had a sheepish expression after almost hitting her with stray cabbage patch dolls. <They just keep popping up...> she though idly, not that she minded, after having spent almost all her training and her short super-heroing career with Drew and the Twins new faces were welcomed.
Bedlam soon became the centre of attention once again as he congratulated Falcon on the use of her gadgets. "Look. I COULD be playing video games right now and chitchatting with you hero types is BOR-ring! So if you don't mind, I'm just gonna finish up this little chore.....and be done."
It was phenomenal; a rip appeared in space and time and acted like a vacuum, dragging the teens into its embrace mercilessly. "My God...” Aspen whispered in both awe and fear as her trench coat whipped about her, the fabric being clawed at and she felt herself slowly being dragged towards the mouth of the rip.
"I don't think so!" She cursed as her emerald eyes flared violet and she conjured a series of rouge spears and connected them to the base of her sturdy boots, digging into the floor to keep her grounded. Despite this effort the air was filled with an atrocious screeching as the ground ripped from the spears for the inwards force of the tear was too great as she was hoisted into the air. "ARRRR!" She cried out in anger as she un-sheathed her sword and fed her energy into it and the blade grew to it's maximum height and she thrust it into the ground with tremendous force as she held onto it's hilt with both hands. Her arms jolted but she held on, her eyes scanning for the others...not that she was in the position to help anyone...
