Title: Favorite DCU TV Show
Description: Heroes in TV land
Robin - August 20, 2004 03:03 AM (GMT)
Many a time does DC create a Live action TV show about their characters. But which, if any are you guys fans off? Old school Superman, Campy Batman, cutesy Lois & Clark, annoying angsty Smallville, or short-lived continutiy challenged Birds of Prey? Or is there one that I missed, that you like?
Speak up folks.

Guess which one I voted for. :P
It was between that and the B&W Batman series from the thirties, but that was more a few serials than an actual show, besides which Adam West rocks.
Robin - August 20, 2004 06:14 AM (GMT)
Yeah, I thought about listing the old 1930 Batman and Robin black and white serials, but those fit more into the movie category since they were called movie serials and first present in the movie theatres.
I still haven't voted myself. Funny since I created the poll. :)

I chose BOP, it was pretty good if you took off the continuity goggles. Was tempted to vote for Smallville, but if they were both on at the same time chances are I'd watch BOP.

Ok, I voted Lois and Clark because it was a good series, Dean Cain was actually believable as Superman and even though Terri Hatcher was slightly annoying she was a good Lois. They had a good support cast too, and most of the time the situations were believable...in a comic sense at least.
Smallville is good, I like Tom Welling as much as the next girl...yes, more than the guys do i know....But theres only so much we can take of..."I have a secret Lana....I want to tell you....*almost kiss* ....But i can't because of this random reason that seems really important now but next episode i'll be kickinig myself over. *Lana leaves by the stairs as we watch Clark look out of that window once more.*"
Joking aside, i do love the music in smallville and its an awesome series....its just too depressing most times. Plus everytime I hear Lex's voice i think of The Flash >.<
The music in BoP was good too, obsessed over that Michelle Branch song from the pilot. Its just that Dinah got reeeaaallly annoying, as annoying as Lana and Chloe actually, and Helena just acted badass, but she couldn't pull it off for me. Harley, although I liked that it was elseworld, kicked ass, she was evil, psychotic and holding a PhD. The No-Mans Land Bar guy was kickass too.
And Shemar Moore. Once more, another guy for the list with Tom Welling and Dean Cain.
Finally we have Batman and Robin. This couldn't be the best because i pass out laughing everytime i watch it, its so funny its unbelievable, in fact just thinking of all the quotes you can get from it makes me laugh.
The place to get your fill of the "Holy" joke is this series, along with dedication against evil, a happy Batman, real life situations...
("Have you sold any atomic subs in the past week?"
"Why yes, to a fellow named Mr P.N. Guin."
"Did they leave an address??"
"Well no, i didn't think to ask."
~ITS AN ATOMIC SUB!! YOU SHOULD HAVE EVERYTHING DOWN TO THEIR BRA SIZE!!)
...And short pants.
True Believer - August 20, 2004 06:15 PM (GMT)
Michelle Branch?? I thought it was Aimee Allen's. Oh well, I'm always wrong, so it's cool--
deathfromwithin - August 20, 2004 07:32 PM (GMT)
i agree with most of what lani has to say about all the seris.....but i never did get into bop i don't know y, after the frist 3 eps. i couldn't get into it besides the fact that i had nite skool at that time and i would have missed it no matter what....
now as for the old superman show....the black and white one.....i think he was the worst superman evvvvvvvvvvver i mean he didn't look much like him he had a pot belly and the his additude was the worst evvvver to be called clark or even that of superman, he yust seemed to act like he knew to much and he was too cocky... <_<
but the batman show was a classic i mean only in that show would u see all the gagits that batman had and it would always be hanging off his belt right when he needed it not a secound sooner or later. that always makes my dye in :)
Falcon - August 20, 2004 10:40 PM (GMT)
I haveto go with Lani on this one, guys. I loved the old Lois and Clark Supes. I think its the first series that made him look a liiitle less like a boyscout. Not only that, for me, it seems to have been around forever. Watched it when I was Five, then twelve.....would watch it now, but TNN has taken it off air~sigh~ Curse them....
I did/still love Smallville and BoP though. Tom Welling is probably the best part of Smallville, and I actually liked the birds of Prey storylines.
To this day me and my friends can watch Batman and robin(either from guest apearances on Scooby doo cartoon OR the TV show) and be laughing about it for days to come......I loved that to, but only when I need a good laugh....thaat and according to my family I've been singing the theme song since I was one......yeah....
And as for the early Superman tv show.....I think the only person I know who would choose that is my mom. I'm a young computer junkie punk who still marvels that they used to maker tv shows in black in white:rolleyes:
Still have yet to see the old Batman movie serials......Darn movies store and internet......
atlantis - August 20, 2004 10:58 PM (GMT)
Ok, Aimee Allen did "I'll start a revolution" Don't expect to find it in shops because she was dropped by her record label for some reason but is in the process of making a different album with another label.
The Michelle branch song is the one that plays over the credits at the end of the pilot episode, Kye knows which one i mean when i say that so i kinda assumed. Its called "All you wanted" and it totally reminds me of superheroes for some reason.
I bought her album for that song.....then copied it and took it back but that’s aside the point ^_^
And Deaths post reminded me of this awesome part in the Batman and Robin series...ok, from the film, the old film.
ok, so Bruce’s current girlfriend, Miss Kitka (Catwoman in disguise) has been catnapped!! and she could be aboard this cruiser in shark infested water….(Yeah! You KNOW what’s coming up…)
We have Robin, in his short pants, flying the helicopter above while Batman is trying to board the boat…..But oh no!! Robin says “Holy shark infested water batman!! They’re all around you!!” as a vicious shark leaps from the water and grabs hold of our Dark Knight!!
So now we have Robin panicking as only he can, Batsy with a shark clamped to either his arm or his head…..I forget which…but then Robin forms a plan…he turns round, amazingly flying with no hands and pulls off the wall one of five cans of SHARK REPELENT!!…….ok, seriously, that’s not very health and safety conscious is it?! 5 cans of shark spray and no fire extinguisher?!
So anyway, Robin switches on the ‘auto pilot’ (Why he didn’t do that before I don’t know, and what mode is it in? Save the Bat?!) and after a lengthy customary piece of acrobatics from the boy wonder the shark repellent is given to our hero and the day is saved!! Ok, actually their back where they started but it was truly thrilling……you can wake up now….guys?….guys!?
Falcon - August 20, 2004 11:05 PM (GMT)
I remember that song....I always had 'I'll start a revolution' stuck in my head....can't find the entire song though.l
I think I have the michellle song 'All you wanted' on a burned cd somewhere....if I could just find it........I actually like allot of her songs.
....Heh heh heh.....I remember the Shark repellent.....ah man, that one was a classic...
Robin - August 21, 2004 03:25 AM (GMT)
Even when I was a kid I couldn't stand the old Batman series. It was just too corny for my taste. Not to mention Batman felt like something out of an after-school special.
The old black & white Superman I thought was pretty good when you consider the way Superman Comics was at the time. If you read the old comics and watch the TV show, it was VERY accurate. ;)
Birds of Prey, I had mixed feelings about. Being a fan of the BoP comic, I found the TV show way off base. Dinah was annoying and not all that attractive in my opinion. Huntress was a hottie, but the whole meta-human 'Daughter of Batman & Catwoman' didn't make much sense. The time line and continuity was way off base. And of course the fact that Huntress didn't wear a mask was dumb, not to mention the fact that no one seemed to realize 'hey don't I know that girl who's jumping off buildings'. Dina Myers as Oracle made the show for me though (drools at memory of sexy red-head computer genius)
Smallville annoys me. It could have been a good show had it actually something other than screwed up love-lifes and freaks of the week. They're stuck in a formula. Clark, Lana and Chloe have their screwed up relationship problems and the Kryptonite in Smallville convinently creates a new villian ever other day. And don't you think that considering all the big things that Clark pulls in Smallville won't give him away when Superman one day shows up? blah. :26:
I'd have to go with Lois and Clark as well. At least for the first 3 season. At first the show was awsome and great fun, but when Clark and Lois got married, the show lost its edge and just became flat. ;)
Stepi01 - August 21, 2004 03:46 PM (GMT)
Not to be nitpickity or anything but you missed the B&W show about Captain Marvel, I think they called it SHAZAM!, and the short-lived Flash series.
I voted for other, yeah, that's my one vote up there, because I happened to like the Flash series more than any of the other live-action shows.
But, that's just me.
Robin - August 21, 2004 06:38 PM (GMT)
Oh I didn't miss anything Stepi. That was what the 'OTHER' section was for. There are a number of shows I didn't mentions such as Wonder Woman and Flash. Not because I didn't want to but because I couldn't list every single TV show. As for the old B&W Captain Marvel show was never highly rated as oppose to say Superman and Batman. Fact is I've never heard many good things about it. But as I mentioned before that was why there was the OTHER section.
The Chris - August 23, 2004 12:12 AM (GMT)
~I honestly didn't know they did a BOP series, wow, go to sleep an see what ya miss. But i voted for Smallville, it's totally wrong from the comics, but intertaining. But all the series seems to follw the same pattern.
BEGIINING OF SERIES;- Clark returns from being gone somwhere, Clark an Lana make friends, Clark an Lana flirt an lay hints that they want hot passionate sex in the chickens barn, but then she gets in danger, an Clark does amazing Super like abilities when her back is turned, an the only wittness is either insane or dies, keepin Clarks secret a secret, an Lana is too dumb to figure it out (CONNECT THE DOTS WOMAN!!)
MIDDLE OF SERIES;- They get closer an start datin, wow. or they became really cool frineds that whisper to each other in the barn as Lana wants to get frecky at super speed. (GET IT OVER WITH WOMAN!!)
END OF SERIES;- Clarks heritage drives him away from his home, an Lana where he brecks up with her, or if they never dated, he does something to spoil their "whispering session in the Barn" friendship, but he then leaves Smallville (JUST DO HIM WOMAN!!)
BEGINNING OF NEXT SERIES;- Calrk returns, Clark an Lana make friends, Clark an Lana flirt an lay hints that they want hot passionate sex in the chickens barn, but then she gets in danger, an Clark does amazing Super like abilities when her back is turned, an the only wittness is either insane or dies, keepin Clarks secret a secret, an Lana is too dumb to figure it out (CONNECT THE DOTS WOMAN!!)
You get the idea. It's borin, but good to watch, it's fun to watch it an get pi**ed off.
True Believer - August 23, 2004 01:48 AM (GMT)

I haven`t voted because I can`t pick.I love the new show of Teen Titans.Still Robin is the best. ::robin:: ::teentitans::
Robin - November 13, 2004 07:23 PM (GMT)
Um... but the Teen Titan Cartoon isn't a live action TV show.
Jason Todd - November 24, 2004 06:17 AM (GMT)
I voted for other. After watching some of the old SHAZAM! shows I actually enjoyed them. I mean if someone thought it lacked depth or thought it was too campy, c'mon it was made years ago.
