The Green Lantern Corp was once the Universe's most powerful intergalaxtic police force. Through out the galaxy, they would patrol and battle for law and order.

But that was before Hal Jordan.

Over the years there has been many costume changes to the Green Lanterns of the universe. So the question is, which is you favorite?

Take you pick and cast your vote.

I cast my vote for Alan Scotts outfit. Iono I just think its cool. But uh does Parallax's outfit count as a GL costume?

Robin - September 27, 2004 11:33 PM (GMT)
Nope, Parallax doesn't count.

When Hal Jordan killed all the Green Lanterns and stole all their powers, he cast aside the title of the Green Lantern and became an whole new entity. He no longer answered to the title Green Lantern.

Same goes for Kyle Raydner as Ion. He wasn't Green Lantern then. He was a whole different idenity.

An offical Green Lantern on this poll needs to have a Green Lantern Ring and they need to have called themselves a Green Lantern when wearing that specific costume.

Marvel-Shazam - September 28, 2004 04:37 AM (GMT)
I chose other because I always like Rond Vidar's Lantern costume

The Chris - September 29, 2004 08:19 PM (GMT)
~Whats this about Kyle being Ion? I heard alittle bit about it from a mate but she made no sence.

Robin - September 29, 2004 09:27 PM (GMT)
Okay, this is what I know about Kyle become Ion...

The bright light of 3600 Green Lanterns once coursed through Kyle Rayner's body. Their spirits and power had been fused into Kyle after a battle. For months, Kyle thought that his increased energy merely reflected greater control of his power ring. But while Kyle had indeed mastered what may be the most formidable weapon in the universe, the true source of his unimaginable might was a bizarre fusion of two different energies: the power that once gave life to Oblivion and the remaining emerald energies Parallax channeled to reignite Earth's extinguished sun.

Claiming that power transformed Kyle into Ion, a being of godlike abilities. He could do anything his imagination decided from making hundreds of copies of himself to saving the universe from alien invasions while watching South Park in his living room.

Forsaking the title of Green Lantern, Kyle entered a new form of existence. As Ion, he was everywhere at once, making a greater difference than Kyle had ever dreamed possible. But Kyle's enhanced power and augmented awareness held one dark drawback: Ion was one with everything, yet Kyle Rayner could no longer sleep or separate himself from the overwhelming responsibilities.

Rather than sacrifice his dwindling humanity, Kyle abandoned omnipotence, bleeding off the vast power at his command (recharging the Central Power Battery on the planet Oa and helping to create a new group of Guardians in the process) and reaffirming his Green Lantern's oath. Once again limited only by his willpower and imagination (though it still needs periodic recharging), the power ring continues to make Green Lantern one of the most powerful heroes on Earth.

~Shibby, thanx man.

NutiketAiel - September 30, 2004 09:00 PM (GMT)
I was always fond of Rond's GL Uniform (Uniform, not Costume), too, but it's always a second behind that of The Man Himself, Hal Jordan.

Robin - September 30, 2004 09:41 PM (GMT)
Costume, Uniform... its spandex one way or another...

NutiketAiel - October 1, 2004 07:08 PM (GMT)
No, there's a difference. "Uniform" implies a unity among the people who wear it including a defining structure behind it. Legionnaires wear uniforms. Green Lanterns who were members of the Corps wore uniforms.

"Costume," while still spandex, does not have the same implication of a unifying, overarching group. Superman wears a costume. Kyle Rayner wore a Green Lantern Costume (because there was no Corps; now that the guardians have been reestablished and whatnot, I'm not sure whether it's a Costume or a Uniform). Batman and Robin wear Costumes. Etc.

Robin - October 1, 2004 07:22 PM (GMT)
Jim, for as long back as anyone can remember super-hero outfits are refered to both as costumes and uniforms.

According to your logic, Superman would be wearing a uniform not costume since he and a number of other heroes wear similar outfits to show unity (Steel, Superboy, Supergirl(s), Kyrpto, Strange Visitor, etc...)

One way or another they are all wearing spandex.

NutiketAiel - October 1, 2004 07:33 PM (GMT)
Nah, still doesn't count because it's not formalized like the Legion or the GL Corps. Steel and "Superboy" and the rest wear similiar costumes and all, but not because they are all part of a formal team.

If, on the other hand, all the Titans started wearing a T on their uniform or some such like that, it would be more along the lines of a uniform.

My logic stands.

But you're right- it's all spandex, so the difference IS just semantic.

Robin - October 1, 2004 07:44 PM (GMT)
Jim, all the Super-team wears 'S' Shields on their person. Its the exact same thing as the Legion belts. They consider themselves a team/family. They were called Team Superman on multiple occasion.

They just don't isolate themselves to working with each other. Like the Green Lantern corp. The Corp is known to be a large organization, but were known to work alone primarily in their own sectors.

Marvel-Shazam - October 2, 2004 07:04 AM (GMT)
Hey Jim the new re-imagined Legion won't be wearing uniforms but costumes. So the Legion is a bad excuse

NutiketAiel - October 3, 2004 09:00 PM (GMT)
I think the word you're looking for is "example," not "excuse."

And what do you mean? Are they changing the uniforms?

Robin - October 3, 2004 10:52 PM (GMT)
For those curious, I voted for Kyle's current costume. That one just looks plain cool to me. Very hip, but still reminisant of the old Hal Jordan costume.

Though I almost voted for the second offical Corp costume worn by John Stewart.

Marvel-Shazam - October 4, 2004 04:53 AM (GMT)
Jim the answer is yes.Waid's new Legion doesn't have the belt buckles and Gim Allon,Leviathan is now Micro Lad.They changed Violet's name to Atom Girl and for some pics go to Legion World

Robin - October 5, 2004 01:18 PM (GMT)
Yeah, I saw those images before too. It makes you wonder exactly HOW re-vamped they're making the series.

But then I remember, I'm not a big Legion fan and thus my interest quickly vanishes. ;)

Marvel-Shazam - October 5, 2004 02:29 PM (GMT)
You read Robin I turn to the Legion and Jim too.

Robin - October 5, 2004 04:33 PM (GMT)
um... what?

The Chris - October 5, 2004 08:12 PM (GMT)
~You read Robin, him an Jim read Legion.

Robin - October 5, 2004 08:14 PM (GMT)
Thats what I thought he meant, but I wasn't positive.

The 'I turn to Legion and Jim too' threw me off.

Marvel-Shazam - October 6, 2004 01:25 AM (GMT)
You read Robin.I read Legion as does Jim the psycho about the Time Trapper he's forgetting Mordru

Robin - October 6, 2004 02:33 AM (GMT)
Um, what does Mordu and Time Trapper have to do with this? We were talking about costumes.

NutiketAiel - October 9, 2004 07:58 PM (GMT)
Wow, and I thought I was confused before...

QUOTE (Robin @ Oct 5 2004, 10:33 PM)
Um, what does Mordu and Time Trapper have to do with this? We were talking about costumes.

Weren't we talking about Angel and it turned into a conversation about Teletubbies? I am no longer suprised far off topic we can get, or quickly we can do it lol.

Robin - October 10, 2004 01:39 AM (GMT)
Yeah, but its one thing to slowly develope into another conversation, its another to completely blurt out some piece of randomness.

For example...

Monkey Stew gives me gas.
