Title: Random Elsewhere Story Idea: Young Just Us.
Description: Read on, MacDuff...

Robin - October 11, 2004 09:22 PM (GMT)
Okay, the other day I was reading this Alternate Universe Young Justice Fan Fiction story called YOUNG JUST US. While the story isn't exacly Shakespear, it does have an interesting story idea.

In this story, the members of YOUNG JUSTICE are just average every day kids.

No super-villain, no super-powers.

Completely normal.

Tim is the cool, smart guy who acts like the unnofical leader of their group. Kon is the jerk of a football jock who has an attitude and ego the size of new york. Bart is the hyper-active poster child for ADD, who is also the fastest kid on the track team. Cissie is the average over achiever and mother pleaser (with a dark streak) and Cassie is the popular cheerleader who has a crush on Kon. (Greta was absent from this story. <_< ) They also had Red Tornado as the football/track coach, and Clark Kent as the History teacher.

These kids all go to high school together, and so on. Only problem is, Tim is being chased by kidnappers, and thus these average kids work together to stop the baddies.

So I was thinking, wouldn't it be interesting to do an Elsewhere RPG similar to this story? We have all of our characters involved only as normal teens in a normal world. But then we go and get them involved in a less than normal situation, such as kidnapping or something along those lines. Kind of like a Scooby Doo sort of caper only with out the talking dog.

Harm is the school bad-boy, Greta is the sweet girl next door, Rachel is the shy girl who is more than she appears, Duo is the weird goth chick, Lyle is the egotistacal science-fair nerd, and so on.

We each play around characters as normal 21st century teenagers, though still leaning their personalities towards their costume personas in the normal universe.

Thoughts? Opinion? Money? (I'd really appreciate the latter. I'm soo poor...)

DUDE!!! I've read that fanfic! It's well niffty and I love the idea! I think it could seriously work! :D

atlantis - October 11, 2004 09:32 PM (GMT)
I read that too!! I also think I wrote a rip off of it...I mean..I used it for inspiration :D

I like it. lol, I give it 5 Wondy's of Dooom
::wwoman:: ::wwoman:: ::wwoman:: ::wwoman:: ::wwoman::

Stepi01 - October 11, 2004 09:44 PM (GMT)
That sounds hilarious! And I loved the story.

So, I'm in.

Also, are we going to have any adult DC heroes in it like the story did?

LET'S HAVE SOME FUN!!!!

Robin - October 11, 2004 09:47 PM (GMT)
Sure, that would only make sense. We could have some of the adult heroes as Teachers or night club owners or so on along those lines. But since we'd be leaning towards a Scooby-like caper with 'those meddling kids', the teens would most likely be the central figures of the story, right?

But I guess we'd have to wait for the current Elsewhere Story to finish before we could start one like this, huh?

Shinigami - October 11, 2004 09:50 PM (GMT)
Yeah, so come on everyone post in New Justice!

Robin - October 11, 2004 09:51 PM (GMT)
We would just need to figure out what sort of situation they end up getting in. Kidnapping, murder, or what? Since this is the normal universe storyline, that means no super-villains or time traveling. Suggestions?

atlantis - October 11, 2004 10:39 PM (GMT)
So the Time Trapper's out then? :D

Robin - October 11, 2004 10:50 PM (GMT)
Don't make me regret saving you from Jim's obsession...

Marx - October 11, 2004 10:52 PM (GMT)
LMAO! He could be the evil teacher who teaches them about time before he goes crazy and locks them in the school to go all serial killer on them! What? You wanted an idea you didn't say it had to be a good one. And I'm totally up for it when we do the story lol.

Robin - October 11, 2004 10:55 PM (GMT)
NO TIME TRAPPER!!!!

That's gotta be the only villain who I just plain hate due to obsessive mention.

atlantis - October 11, 2004 10:56 PM (GMT)
LMAO!! I was only kidding!

What about if all the members are "randomly" selected (Because you hav to admit they aren't the type that would all hang out right.) And they go to like, a school on an exchange week. the school would be an old mansion (Its always the creepy old mansions) They have a week to solve the mystery of the missing students while also trying not to get freaked out by the creepy janitor!! They would have access to the whole town for their report on the town.

I don't know...work with me here people!

Robin - October 11, 2004 11:10 PM (GMT)
Sorry, but due all the mention that Jim made of him, just hearing the name makes me very... irksome. :26:

Marx - October 11, 2004 11:13 PM (GMT)
*trying in vain to hold in my laughter* Relax Alan. Breeeeathe, think happy thoughts. Carnage. Fire. Bunnies under carnage and fire.

Hm... this might work. Maybe make it into a private school, where the kids are split up into individual houses. Kind of like the Reloaded Xavier Institute from X-Men or like Hogwarts from Harry Potter.

But since it will probably be a while before we can actually do this story, we've still got time to think over this. So keep the ideas coming.

NutiketAiel - October 12, 2004 05:58 AM (GMT)
Wow.

I haven't even posted yet, and ALLREADY Alan's pissed off about the Time Trapper? This is some kind of dream come true!!

Thank you, Lani and Marx!! I can die now!!

In all seriousness (although Lani's "Time Trapper as Teacher/Serial Killer actually sounds like an OK idea to ME), I would be willing to be in on this one. I've never played a science nerd teenager before, but I'd be willing to give it a try!

Robin - October 12, 2004 06:04 AM (GMT)
*Urge to kill, rising...*

Again, there will be NO Time Trapper.

[You do realize that its your fault I don't like that character, right Jim? Had you not excessively mentioned him for every single topic and story idea, I'd have no problem with him.]

NutiketAiel - October 12, 2004 06:15 AM (GMT)
Serenity now, Alan. Serenity now. ;)2

Eh. So you hate good old Time Trapper. There are worse things. Maybe you'll get over it eventually. Since, after all, I HAVE (at your request) stopped mentioning him except where it would actually be appropriate or when someone else brings him up (as here).

Robin - October 12, 2004 06:17 AM (GMT)
Don't patronize me... <_<

And considering how badly that character has scarred me, it will be a long time before I don't get slight rage at his name's mention. :gegly:

NutiketAiel - October 12, 2004 06:30 AM (GMT)
Sorry, I wasn't patronizing you. I just was quoting Seinfeld with that "serenity now" thing (as you had quoted the Simpsons before me).

It was a pretty funny episode, actually.

Robin - October 12, 2004 06:33 AM (GMT)
Forgive and forget (except for the Time Trapper thing lol).

Now back to the mater at hand. What kind of situation do the kids get involved in.

So far we have the kids going to a creepy mansion as part of a school trip (or that's there actual school) and try to solve mysterious kidnappings.

NutiketAiel - October 12, 2004 06:48 AM (GMT)
Thanks, Alan, I feel better now.

I think we should at least get an idea of who our antagonist (since villain isn't exactly the appropriate term) is going to be. I actually like Lani's basic idea from before, about the Time Trapper being a teacher that goes nuts and kidnaps people. I suggest we use a theme like that, except with a more contemporary villain; my knee-jerk suggestion would be Lex Luthor, but that seems too... done. You long-time Young Justice fans should probably try to think of an appropriate villain who was primarily Young Justice oriented to use in this role. That'd be my suggestion, anyway.

I would also suggest that we consider making him an Assistant Principal/Disciplinarian type person instead of a teacher, but that's really just a variant on Lani's idea.

Or maybe it was Marx's idea. I really don't remember.

I also suggest that we have a red herring. Like creepy, mean old Professor Bruce Wayne who seems like such a dark, evil guy... although it turns out he really isn't actually responsible for the kidnappings, we all want to blame him because he's so creepy, always coming out of the shadows, and he's such a hard grader. What do you think? ;)2

Marx - October 12, 2004 06:26 PM (GMT)
Lol! Actually my idea was the Time Tr-...er...Villain person ;) doing the serial killer in the school thing. Lani's was the mystery of the missing students in a mansion one. Personally I like both, we should soooooo make Mighty Endowed a teacher or suspect depending on the story, for the humor value if nothing else.

Robin - October 12, 2004 06:29 PM (GMT)
She can be the sex-ed teacher. Irony abound. :)

But remember gang, we're trying to keep this as normal as possible. Meaning we don't want to have a villain who is too over the top. You know like we don't want to them to be only a few inches from putting on spandex and stuff.

Stepi01 - October 16, 2004 03:10 PM (GMT)
Mighty Endowed as a sex-ed teacher....

WHY DIDN'T I THINK OF THAT!!!!!!!

I have to say that I do like the Bruce Wayne teacher idea. He would make a great creepy teacher that everyone dreads having.

I do have an idea, though.

It is the start of a brand new year, and some of the less-reputable people are selling a brand new drug, think extacy times a million, that really screws some people up. Our little group of teenagers decide to stop the dealers because each one has a friend or someone close to them affected by it.

What do y'all think?

Huh?

Runs away, dodging lettuce and tomatoes from angry mob.

(At least Leilu the sloth seemed to like it)

Robin - October 16, 2004 07:33 PM (GMT)
Interesting.

But a minor note, we can't have Bruce Wayne involved unless Jake decides to join the story. Its one thing to have Batman as a very very minor NPC, but from how it sounds you guys want him as major player in the story. And since Bats is being controlled by another player, we shouldn't really use him.

Falcon - October 16, 2004 08:50 PM (GMT)
Mighty Endowed as type sex-ed teach....lol. That'd be the only class guys in the story'd pay VERY close attention to, eh?

Hmmmm.~thinking~ I really like the 'Xavier school' kinda idea.....and the drug deal idea sounds interesting too...I also have an idea...somewhere.....just can't seem to write it down~bangs head against wall~

I LOVE this entire idea. Really cool.....I think I read that fanfic along time ago...vaguely remember it, but it was definitely a awesome idea.

Guess I should get posting in New Justice so we can start sooner! ~Runs off to post~
