http://www.infinitecanvas.com/

Now you can creat online comics on an 'infinite canvas' and do a whole lot of cool....stuff....

Firstly inspired by Scott McCloud's 'Reinventing Comics'. (I've read some comics made on these things......they're really pretty cool. Once I get my own computer back, gonna download the program and try it out. Have fun experimenting on it yourself thugh'!)

Note from Jake: It only works on Mac OS/OSX, so if you're on a windows or Linux it pro'lly won't work.

This site is a godsend http://www.figma.com/home.shtm
In contains SEVERAL tips on different aspects of creating comics, interviews with the likes of Joe Quesada and Scott McCloud and john Byrne, a critiquing page, resources, a mailing list for things happening in the industry and more. Great site. Just found it.

http://www.members.shaw.ca/creatingcomics/index.htm has lots of links to artists and writers websites and essays by Peter David and others.

School for the cartoon studies, seeking well rounded students with back grounds in graphic design, philosophy, religeon, english, liberal arts, ect. They just started this year, so they're still seeking accredidation as a two year school and will have several visiting artist: Scott McCloud of 'understanding comics' and 'zot' fame, Craig Tompson("Jimmy Corrigan", "Blankets", and several other great comics. Eisner winner), And several others. Unlike kuberts school(www.kubertsworld.com) , which focuses on drawing and mainstream superhero comics, The center for Cartoon Studies, amoung teaching drawing, will also emphasize on writting and self publishing. They also offer a summper program for highschool juniors and seniors and for undergrads. At any rate, it's worth checking out. The portfolio guidlines look creative and kinda fun, So I might add it to my list of schools, even if they can't get accredidation in a few years..
