Title: Intensive training...
Description: Post 'Order of fallen saints'

Shinobi - December 12, 2004 07:21 PM (GMT)
Adam was reading quietly in the room he and his grandfather had constructed to hide his gi and equipment as Shinobi. This time however he was mearly doing his homework, that is until Enoki himself entered carrying an armful of dusty old books, and dry parchments, he dumped them all on the desk startling his grandson.

"What ARE you doing grandpa?" He asked

"Your new training." He said in a tone like he was explaining it to a small child. "You've been given a new rank, I no longer consider you a Gen'nin. Your now entering the Chun'nin phase, your training will be harder, and you'll be learning many new skills. This one for instance, the Dim Mak."

"'Death...touch'..." Adam translated himself.

Enoki nodded to his grandson's answer. "Yes, but that is not all it is, it is a powerful system of pressure points, and nerve touches, it is not only used for killing, however to fully learn this technique set you will need to become as familier with the human body as any docter. Perhaps moreso." It was then Adam noticed the books were about anatomy of humans, the scrolls and parchments all had drawings of various parts of the body all of them with a marking someplace.

"And this is not even the greatest of what I can teach you. As a Chu'nin it will be similer to earning your blackbelt was. Your...able to be let out without a chaparogne as it where..." The elder ninja commented sitting down. "I suggest you study however, because you'll need everything you can when our next sparring session occurs, because I wont be holding back as much as usual."

(there will be more im just pressed for time right now)

(note: according to my sources (Not just Naruto manga) Ninja are actually ranked similer to that, Gen'nin would be complete newbies, totally in training, Chun'nin are the 'journymen' of ninja, the mid-levels, finally come the Jounin, the Elites. The best of the best.)

Adam met his grandfather in the main body of the dojo on the tatami mats. He looked the older man over, trying, in vain, to find a weakness in his defense. 'Thats grandpa for ya...always lets his enemy make the mistakes...'

Of course this time was diffrent, Adam found it hard to gather himself to attack his grandfather, the look he was giving him...although it was very diffrent from 'the look' used by Robin and his allies, there was something about it...something that seemed to shatter his confidence, he couldnt bring himself to attack Enoki...

"Come on then." He said still holding Adam's gaze. "Well if your not going to attack...I will." In about the same amount of time it took to blink Enoki had covered the ground between them quickly driving his index fingure into Adam's chest, following up with a full force sidekick into Adam's stomache knocking him down and putting good distance between them.

Adam attempted to hoist himself, but felt a familier buckling in his arm, like after his first fight with Tong Po, his arm was paralyzed.

"It wont be working again until I decide to make it." Enoki said settling back into a defensive stance.

"So, i've still got ONE good arm...and TWO good legs!" Adam declared practically leaping back onto his feet as he charged Enoki, raining blows at him, hoping to overwhelm his grandfather with the attacks.

"Sloppy." He says casually fending off Adam's assault following up with an uppercut. "Do you know why I was able to do that?"

"Because..." He huffed rubbing his jaw but keeping his eye on his grandfather. "You taught me the basis of my entire fighting style."

"Wrong." He says moving in for his first offensive strike, at blinding speeds he taps various parts of Adam's body making it seize up and resulting in Adam collapsing to the ground. "Yes, I taught you to fight, but everyone makes their style their own, your fast, aggressive, and thoughtless. Easily defeated by me. I analyze how you fight, figure out your favorite maneuvers and attack patterns, and defise proper countermeasures. In short, I use strategy."

"Yeah yeah...just...help me stand up..."

Enoki sighed extending his hand and tapping various points on his grandson's body again and soon enough Adam was able to stand on his own.

"You have potential." He said finally. "But require polishing your skills, and studying the new ones harder."

"Yes grandpa." Adam said sounding slightly bored, he got told that same thing time and again, quickly Enoki hit him over the head, not hard, just enough to get his attention.

"If you would focus more on your training you could probably surpass me eventually." He said seriously.

(more on the way)

"Surpass you? I was there when you protected me from Lady Shiva, I doubt I could EVER fight like that." Adam said doing a few more stretches knowing this session was far from being over.

"Idiot. If you doubt yourself you have already failed." Enoki commented waiting for Adam to attack him this time.

"So you say but really how much have I improved as of late?"

"More then you think Adam. More then you think." Those few sentences exchanged Adam went in for the attack again his grandfather casually blocking and evading everything he was throwing. It was particularly annoying when Enoki got behind Adam somehow.

The two continued fighting for some minutes, an unspoken rule for the two of them as they fought full force, at least, Adam did, his grandfather was pulling back enough to keep above Adam's level but not use all of his skill. This whole thing went on for more then an hour, Adam was finally left bruised and gasping for breath as Enoki stood up from the armbar he performed on him.

"And now, go back to the books and study the other things. Brute force cannot win all fights." Enoki said simply as Adam nodded and stood up again walking back to the room he came up from, picking up one of the thinner books he started reading through it. Finding it difficult as he had to translate from a more archaic form of Japanese into English.

Adam continued his reading of the seemingly ancient texts on the desk in front of him. His earlier pretense of homework long forgotten, many of the techniques discribed in these books were, simply put, amazing. But of course, his grandfather was correct, he needed to put a lot of work into learning anatomy.
'This is gonna be boring...but worth it.' He told himself as he went up to the main floor to get a training dummy and bring it down. He began looking from text, to dummy, and back attempting to place where each point and nerve detailed therin would be, and how much force would be needed to actually gain the desired effect.
