Title: What if...
Description: Wow...what a lame name...
Shinobi - December 14, 2004 01:23 AM (GMT)
Well...yeah i got bored at home and thought something (WOW i THOUGHT)
'what would happen if the villain ever did best the hero.
Like: what if Joker finally killed Batman?
Basically the question is your opinion on what would happen if a hero ANY hero was actually, and finally killed by one of their villains.
Jason Todd - December 14, 2004 05:59 PM (GMT)
What If Joker killed Batman????
There wouldn't be anymore batman comics..... :ouchy:
Iono what would happen....hmmmm.... probably someone else would take up the mantle again or characters like become more key players since the dark Knight was dead.
Or mebbe all hell would break loose because Bruce's death would shatter the confidence of the other gotham knights and all the villains would take over???
Robin - December 14, 2004 06:49 PM (GMT)
If Joker killed Batman, Nightwing or Robin would take up the mantle. Everyone knows that if the underworld finds out the Bat is dead, they're going to party like its new years. Someone will need to keep going. Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl, they are all expendable, but the Gotham needs a Bat. And Joker would probably kill himself afterwards. I mean, if he doesn't have Batman to annoy, he doesn't have a purpose anymore and thus he'll kill himself to hopefully annoy Batman in the after life. (This is the Joker. Don't put it past him...)
If Superman were to be killed by Luthor, Lex would finally retire to his island in the south sea with his pool boy collection.
If Ares killed off Wonder Woman, he'd be bored silly because she was the only person who paid him any mind. Then he'd open a flower shop with Artemis.
Shinobi - December 14, 2004 09:12 PM (GMT)
...interesting theories...definetly agree with the Joker though...theres very few things i wouldnt put past him...
The Chris - December 14, 2004 09:14 PM (GMT)
~What if Superboy where to replace Superman?
Marx - December 14, 2004 10:07 PM (GMT)
Do you mean Superboy as he is now or grown up? If it was as he was now, he may be powerful and all but he'd probably get spanked. It's already happened both other times he tried to pass off as Superman. Now if he's grown to a Sins of Youth age, then it could work, it just wouldn't be easy on him, as shown with the whole Black Zero thing lol. But I think because he met Black Zero, he wouldn't turn out like that.
Jakazul - December 15, 2004 12:07 AM (GMT)
Would he still get the cool costume?
Robin - December 15, 2004 02:31 AM (GMT)
Superboy would take some time to get into the role of Superman. After all, he's only had limited experience. But I think once he's worked at it, he'll pull of a great job fighting for truth and justice. Never will he be as good as Clark, but he'd do well. Kind of like Conner Hawke was when he became the solo-Green Arrow after Olie had died.
Jakazul - January 11, 2005 06:46 AM (GMT)
What if Batman married Talia Head?
Robin - January 11, 2005 07:00 AM (GMT)
Hmm... If Batman married Talie Head... Three possibilities.
1) Talia would turn against her father to be with Bruce, most likely with Ra's coming to exact revenge.
2) Ra's will die (maybe at the hands of Batman) and they finally get together.
3) Talia and Bruce marry, and Bruce takes over the Assasin's Guild.
Jakazul - January 11, 2005 09:09 PM (GMT)
That'd be an awesome title too. Batman as head of a group of assassins... Totally out of character though.Good ideas. Anxious to see what the others say.
Xtreme - January 13, 2005 01:28 AM (GMT)
OK what if....
We went into the future a couple years? Not a lot, mabye 20 or so. Mabye more, just enough for many Supes' to retire.
Heres what i would think would hapen:
Superman- would still be Clark. Hes proboly gonna live forever unless Lex Kills him. which proboly will happen. anyways thats a differant what if.
Batman: would be Nightwing. he was the person most likly to inherit the mantle or so the Official Guide to Batman or something like that said.
Green Lantern: would proboly still be kyle. After all, hes not very old.
Flash- would either still be flash (see GL abouve) or would be Bart (impulse)
Aquaman: would proboly retire to Atlantis and Tempest would take over.
Plasticman: could be immortal, or his son would take over- see a JLA comic feturing WonderWoman and the breaking of her Lasoo and all of truth with it.
speaking of Wonder Woman: see Superman
Robin - January 13, 2005 01:41 AM (GMT)
Superman: If he's alive, he'll be Superman still. That or finally retire and hands the mantle over to Superboy.
Batman: Will NOT be Dick Grayson. Dick once wore the Bat-Mantle, and afterwards said he would never do it again, because it wasn't him. It felt completely wrong for him and everyone knew it. Dick will retire with Barbara Gordon or Starfire. Most likely Tim will replace Bruce, since he's the one person who the suit would fit. Bruce see's Tim as the only possible replacement, and so do many others, including Batgirl and Oracle. Tim will do his best to not become the kind of Batman he saw himself as in the now debunked Titans future.
Green Lantern: There is no single Green Lantern anymore. The Corp has been rebuilt and thus there are thousands of GLs all across the universe. Hal Jordan, Kyle Rayner, Guy Gardner and John Stewart continue to share the duties of protecting their quadrent.
Flash: Wally probably disappears into the Speed-Force and Bart takes over.
Aquaman: Is still Aquaman, fighting the good fight and regaining his throne, meanwhile Tempest is living the life of a family man and mystic.
Plastic Man: Is retired now being content as a grandfather or something.
Wonder Woman: Young and Beautiful as ever, she will be exactly as she is now.
Marx - January 13, 2005 01:50 AM (GMT)
Hm, well in the future I don't see Superman, Wonder Woman or Batman being different people. If something did happen to Bruce I guess I could see Dick taking his place or even Batgirl(This is 20 years, who knows how much she'll improve in that time). I'd see Superboy as either Black Zero or his own hero like Nightwing, same with Tim and probably Cassie. I do see Bart becoming a Flash, just hopefully not in that terrible TEEEEERRIBLE yellow outfit. No real opinion on anyone else.
John Stewart - January 13, 2005 03:17 AM (GMT)
What if in the furture Bruce retired and Tim Drake was the new Batman. Could Tim handle being Batman or if Batgirl tried to take over. What would it be like with Batgirl running the show.
Robin - January 13, 2005 03:21 AM (GMT)
Yeah, he could handle it. Especially after everything that happened in Teen Titans 17-19. He now knows how NOT to act as Batman.
John Stewart - January 13, 2005 03:27 AM (GMT)
When you said What if is a lame name. Why don't we go with the DC name Elseworld. What is is more marvel than DC any way. Elseworld is lame to, I think.
Robin - January 13, 2005 03:30 AM (GMT)
We didn't come up with the name, John. Shinobi did.
And since he came up with the thread, the title is his choice. What if works pretty well, since the questions we are asking are 'WHAT IF...'
kidflash3 - January 13, 2005 10:55 PM (GMT)
What if Bart became Flash IV?
Robin - January 13, 2005 10:59 PM (GMT)
He'll wear a different costume. That's about it.
The Chris - January 13, 2005 11:00 PM (GMT)
~He would be the fastest man alive. What if Lex an Superman huck up? Would Conner be glad to play happy family's, or frecked out coz there dudes?
Robin - January 13, 2005 11:02 PM (GMT)
...
Okay... that was completely out of left field and messed up...
I don't think that would be a problem. If Lex and Supes hooked up, Lois would kick their asses. And sooner or later they'd kill each other. All within two hours of them 'hooking up'
The Chris - January 13, 2005 11:05 PM (GMT)
~LOL yeah, sorry about that my bad. But am just interesed in Conner's reaction.
Jakazul - January 13, 2005 11:17 PM (GMT)
*thinks Poe got to you a little too much*
Annnnnyway... What if Bruce had been bitten my a radioative bat?;)
Robin - January 13, 2005 11:20 PM (GMT)
Yeah, that's what I was thinking too, Jake...
Bruce would be dead. Anti-Climatic I know, but what the hey?
Jakazul - January 13, 2005 11:28 PM (GMT)
LOL Oh how creative. *Litterally laughed out loud though, so it must be*
Shinobi - January 14, 2005 04:21 AM (GMT)
You want two more that are completely outta left feild? Here
1. What if I managed to sell shinobi to DC comics (or marvel i'm not picky) and he got his own title?
2. DAMNIT! I cant remember my other one...gimme a sec....ah screw it, i'll come back after I remember it...I do this IRL too heh...
Shinobi - January 14, 2005 04:26 AM (GMT)
AHA! I remembered! And am too lazy to to simply edit my post.
2. What if ALFRED had been Batman and Bruce had been the first Robin.
I.e. Alfred decided to make the criminal's pay for the wayne's death and destroying bruce's innocence, and uses a bat-mantle to do such, and Bruce becomes the first robin instead of the legendary batman.
well i hope THAT was out of left feild too...or right feild...or center...but i'm getting off topic.
Well...y'know...BESIDES the likely death of one or both from lack of the necissary training...
Jason Todd - January 14, 2005 04:43 AM (GMT)
Okay here's my idea since there's a lot of batman what if's lemme try
What if Jean Paul Valley was permanent Batman and Jason Todd were still alive and they were the Dynamic Duo?
hmmmmm and what if Superman starts to slowly lose his powers day by day?
iono those be my ideas
Did you guys here about the DC All Star comics? Kinda like Ultimates Universe but it doesnt start the series overs. They're also not advertised as Elseworlds either. The Batman one has Bruce and it has Dick as Robin. Dick's always been Robin in the series, iono too much about it just that Jim Lee is wrtingand doin the artwork. They're another one where Superman gets a disease from overexposure to the sun and it shows how he handles his final days
Robin - January 14, 2005 04:54 AM (GMT)
If Azreal were still Batman, and Jason were still alive, the whole concept of Batman and Robin would go to hell in a handbasket. Both of them would become worse than the criminal that they fought against (because neither had a problem with kill for whatever the reason), and sooner or later the JLA would have to come in a take them down.
And considering the Jean-Paul doesn't have the skills of Bruce, and Jason was never as skilled as Dick or Tim, they'd both be defeated and now be sharing a room in Arkham.
Superman has already done the 'slowly losing his powers day by day' storyline before. He'd sooner or later get his powers back, like he always does.
Jason Todd - January 14, 2005 05:37 AM (GMT)
if this is a What if sort of thing they'd probably die
The Chris - January 14, 2005 09:25 PM (GMT)
~What if Spoiler was to became Robin before Tim did?
Quracen - January 14, 2005 10:46 PM (GMT)
Well as you all know I know nothing of this stuff but I remember me and Mark talking about Spoiler so I thought I'd give a crack at it.
Ok, so here is how I'd see it, since it would be right after the death of Jason Todd she would quickly get to Bruce and become Robin. First thing is everyone would see the difference between the Robin's, I man the breasts and blonde hair kind of tell of a different person, unless the people thought that Robin didn't feel comfortable as a guy :-p Next she is considerably weaker then Tim so probably a couple missions in she would get beaten up bad, and the Bat wither wouldn't be there or just not want to help her :-p So our Tim would come to her aid, having figured out who she and Robin were because of her classic features. So Tim would have saved her life and Batman would see her incompetance and fire her on the spot and give the mantle over to Tim. And the world is right again.
I probably screw this up, but then again the first comic I read was in 2008, and considering what year it is now... Yeah anyways I think i answered it right :-p
Ok I'll try a what if... What if Batman was gone, killed or whathave you and the current Batgirl became Batwoman and *dun dun dun* Shiva became Batgirl?
Robin - January 14, 2005 11:13 PM (GMT)
Spoiler would have never become Robin. There is no possible way. After Jason Todd had died, Batman didn't want a partner. If Spoiler had tried to get Batman to train her back then, she'd have ended up hog-tied and hanging upsidedown outside her bedroom window with a note saying 'beat me like a pinata'.
Nightwing tried to help him, and Bruce turned him away. Tim was the person to re-form the dynamic duo.
He had discovered Batman and Robin's ID's when he was still a small child. When Jason died, Tim tracked down Dick Grayson to become Robin again. Tim failed to get Dick into the red and green, but he did get Dick to help out Batman with Two-Face. Tim then put on the costume to help out both Batman and Nightwing.
One of the key reasons Bruce allowed Tim to join the group was because Tim already knew everything about Batman and Robin, inside and outside of the costume. Tim proved himself from the very day he met everyone.
Stephanie wouldn't be able to impress Batman like that, especially not at that point in Batman's life. She wasn't smart or skilled enough.
Marx - January 14, 2005 11:30 PM (GMT)
I think Batgirl would be a good Batwoman, as I said before. She's around 18 and she's already a better fighter than Batman, she'd only get better as she got older and learned to read. And since Batman would be dead, it'd give her that much more of a reason, as for Shiva being Batgirl. Cass would have to beat the snot out of her a good number of times for trying to kill or killing people lol.
Shinobi - January 15, 2005 05:55 AM (GMT)
Goood stuff.
And how come no one has answered my shinobi syndication question? What ya dont think he's good enough to get a comic? Agreed, i still have MASSIVE polishwork t'do on him. but still...and yes, that whole part above was in jest...although...it would be kool if i DID manage to get a company to make a shinobi comic eh?...and since i'm postin' here i better put a what if...
What if Batgirl had stayed with cain?
Robin - January 15, 2005 06:08 AM (GMT)
If Batgirl had stayed with Cain, she'd be dead right now. Because as we all know Lady Shiva would have tracked her down to fight her. And without her time with Batman and Oracle, Cassandra would never had learned any sort of compassion, and would have just been a mindless fighter who Shiva would then easily kill.
Shinobi - January 15, 2005 06:37 AM (GMT)
Hmm...kool...although...i dont totally understand how a lack of compassion would make her easier to kill rather then harder...but then again...i'm me so...
Robin - January 15, 2005 06:45 AM (GMT)
If you read the issue of Batgirl where she battled Lady Shiva you'd understand.
Shiva and Batgirl had fought at the begining of the issue, and Shiva had killed Batgirl with the Leapord Strike. But because Shiva had seen compassion and remorse in Batgirl, she resurrected her to understand that. To understand why Batgirl wanted to die.
When Batgirl was alive again, they talked, and Batgirl's compassion and understanding led her to find the way to beat Shiva. Because Cass finally understood Shiva.
If Batgirl had never met Oracle, then she would have just become another killer. Shiva would have tracked her down to fight her because that is what Shiva does. Shiva would have killed Cass, but since Cass had no compassion or remorse, Shiva would have had no reason to resurrect her, and thus Cassie would have remained dead.
Shinobi - January 15, 2005 06:49 AM (GMT)
Okay now I understand.
Wow...shiva is...very complex...very...
Here's another what if dealing with one of your characters.
What if Robin had decided to stay and keep training with shiva?
